Liz sighed as Felipe admitted that he'd liked the kiss Abby had given him, she felt her jaw tighten slightly, but didn't blow up over it. He was a guy after all. "Well I sure as hell hope you didn't turn gay when we started going out.." She quipped back at him as she pulled him to the dance floor.
The dance was good, the kiss was better. He pulled away from her as the song changed to something else, and he spoke, asking if she didn't like Abby.
There was a pause from the Brit. "Honestly?" She asked. him. "I don't hate her..but I would be barking mad to think she and I will ever be friends." She replied. "She does things..and I'd swear that they are strictly to push my buttons, to get a rise out of me. Like that kiss...that wasn't for the boys..that was to piss me off." Liz shook her head. "I know she's your friend, and I know how important she is to you..and that..is the one of the few reasons I can be around her." She looked away for a moment.
Their moment was interrupted when Abby came over to announce she was leaving. The girl left another kiss on Felipe's cheek, this one was defintely intended to set Liz off, and the Brit found herself digging her nails into her palms. An image flashed behind Liz's green eyes, of her walking over and yanking the little cheerleading cow back by her hair, throwing her to the floor and beating the piss out of her. But she didn't. She left that image right where it was. "Have a good time at the pier Abigail.." She shot back, the sincerity gone from her voice.
When she was gone, Liz exhaled slowly, forcing herself to calm down. "I'sorry Fefe.." She whispered, looking up at her boyfriend. "I tried..I really did...I offered her my hand in friendship..and she deliberately pushes at me..I just...I rather wanted to knock her on her plastic ass."

"Abby! Wait!" he called after her but the vision in cream and aubergine had already started to leave. Felipe frowned slightly, feeling bad for Abby. It was clear she hadn't had much of a fun time despite going to all the troubl of getting dressed up. He'd so hoped it would have turned out differently for her...
LizBeth's parting farewell told him pretty plainly she wasn't so sorry to see the other girl leave, though and he glanced down at his date in frustration. Why couldn't they simply get along? Or do what guys did when feathers became ruffled and fight themselves through it.
On second thoughts that wouldn't be so great an idea. Girl fights always tended to get out of control. Besides, he had no desire what so ever of seeing either of them get hurt!
He nodded when Liz told him she'd tried... and he knew she had. Felipe also was very aware that Abby had taunted LizBeth but that was just her way... her sense of humour. Ok, so it touched on wicked at times but that was part of what he liked about her.
"I should go and make sure she's ok," he said. "I mean she can't go to the pier dressed like that. God knows what might happen. I talked her into coming tonight when she really didn't want to. If anything should happen to her I would feel totally to blame." Thing is he had afeeling that suggestion would quickly resemble a lead balloon when LizBeth replied.

Liz was, and was not happy to see Abby leave. She knew that Felipe had honestly wanted her to be there and have a good time. They were friends. But on the other side of things, Liz wanted Fefe to herself for the rest of the evening. It was Prom goddamnit! She WAS trying though, and he knew that. It still didn't stop him from giving her a frustrated look, one she gave back. It frustrated her that he allowed Abby to pick at her the way she did, but if Liz had thrown it back, he'd get upset at her.
His next comment had her folding her arms uner her chest lightly. "I'm sure that she's not going to go to the pier dressed like that. She's not completely stupid." Liz quipped back at him. "I'm sure she drove herself here, since she denied my offer to pick her up..I even invited her to go to dinner with us." Liz exhaled through her nose, trying to keep a lid on that infamous Liz temper. She was not going to have Prom ruined. "I know she'd your friend, and I know you wanted her to have a good time tonight..and I know you are concerned about her safety..so go...make sure she gets home safe at least..what she does from there is her own business."
There was a clear disappointment in her eyes. He was likely to go take care of Abby and then not come back for the rest of Prom, that feeling sank heavily in her chest. Things had started so good that night, and the day before too. "Just...let me know if you aren't coming back, and I'll figure out how to get home. I can call for a driver or something."

Felipe hesitated, torn between Lizbeth and Abby. On the one hand he was here with his date and yet... he'd also talked Abby into coming. If only he could be divided in half!
"Five minutes," he stated firmly. "If in that time I haven't been able to convince Abby to return or to go home then I shall return here." He looked down at her, knmowing he was about to ask a lot. "Will you give me that?"
She nodded and he drew her close into a quick kiss before running after Abby...
* * *
"Abby! Hold up!" He shouted and the vision in cream and purple ground to a halt. "Abby..." Felipe paused to catch his breath. "I am so sorry I made you come to the prom but... going to the pier looking as lovely as you do... It will surely be a recipe for trouble. If you won't come back inside will you at least let me make sure you get home safely?"

Liz's posture suggested that she was not entirely thrilled with his leaving to go after Abby, but it was all bark and no bite right now. She'd already told him to go, not that she could have stopped him anyway.
He asked for five minutes to go after the cheerleader, stating he would return after that. She gave him a single nod, pretty sure he would make it up to her afterward anyway. She couldn't really argue anyway when he kissed her, something she responded to eagerly, giving him a reason to come back. he took off after abby, assuming he could catch her.
~~~~~~
Liz took the time he was gone to hit the ladies loo for a quick break. She did what she needed to do, washing her hands afterward. She did a quick hair and make-up check, reapplying a bit of lipstick as it had faded slightly during the kiss. Liz looked in the mirror for a few minutes, not checking herself over as she'd done that already, but just looking. The Brit opened her clutch and removed a small vial of perfume, retouching it to her wrists and behind her ears before recapping it and tucking it away.
Leaving the loo, Liz reentered the dance area, taking a seat at their table, crossing her legs, which exposed a long line of pale, taut thigh, waiting for her brazilian to return.
She knew she had made a mess of things back there but honestly, she couldn't have cared less. She knew when people were being plastic because let's face it, Abby herself was plastic. She was like a chameleon when it came to being 'herself'. She supposed she could boil down her big bitch mode to how she had met Liz that night at the pier and how she had made Felipe upset. Why would anyone do that?
Having left the hotel and arriving at the beach with a leather jacket around her shoulders to keep warm, Abby took off her stupid sandals and shoved it in the inside pocket of the jacket. She loved the cool night sand of the beach and she kicked around in it for a bit. Why did she waste her time going to something without the one person she wanted to be with in the first place? She was a complete masochist, she was.
Not long after she arrived, the walk she had been on brought her to the pier where she had told Felipe she would be. Barefoot, she made sure she didn't step into anything bad. She didn't even realise she would see anyone she knew that night at the pier until she heard her name being called. She frowned, slightly angry at Felipe for ditching his date to make sure she was alright. But flattered of course. Finally, someone who was genuinely concerned for her.
"Fel...I'm fine. You do realise you just left your beautiful date in a hotel filled to the brim with single guys with only one intent, don't you? And that's your GIRLFRIEND. I'm just a friend, sweetie." Abby patted the Brazilian's cheek affectionately. She had the strongest urge just to plant a big one on his lips but she would be doing exactly the same thing she had done a year ago. Only this time, she wasn't the one attached.
"I can fend for myself. Now go back to your date okay? You're honestly the nicest guy I've met. You might not be the wisest judge of character but you're going to find someone who deserves you." And like she had done a million times before, she stood on the tips of her toes and pressed her lips on Felipe's forehead. "Thank you for coming back for me." She smiled and ran her fingers through his hair.
"I'm going to be fine." She laughed when he hesitated to leave.
Felipe was torn beyond belief. He knew he couldn't leave LizBeth alone for much longer. That would be entirely unfair and cruel of him. He couldn't do that to her. Likewise he couldn't leave Abby on her own. "But..."
"Go," she repeated. "Go!"
He drew in a sharp breath and started to walk away, moving backwards so that he could still watch her. How he wished tonight had been different but if wishes were horses.... It was futile to wish for something that couldn't possibly happen.
"Are you positive?"
Abby's response was to flap a hand in his direction. She turned away and headed for the pier.
Still he was undecided and yet by the time he'd gathered himself once more Abby had vanished from sight. He turned and walked back along the beach, towards the hotel. As he walked he rummaged for his phone...
'Text me when you get home ok? Felipe'
At least then he'd know that Abby was alright.
He wandered through the hotel foyer, unaware of the sandy footprints he left in his wake, and he spotted LizBeth sitting back at their table.
"Desculpa," he apologised, "I think I was a little more than the five minutes."
A heavy sigh left the lips of the Brit as she sat there at the table, her head now being supported by her hand, legs still crossed at the knee. She'd glanced at her mobile a few times, and he was well past the 5 minutes he had asked for. She was trying to be patient, she really was. Liz knew that he wanted to make sure that Abigail got home safe, which was the only reason she was being as patient as she was. Her night was slowly being ruined and she hated it.
"Hey..Um..Liz?" Liz looked up to find one of the guys from her English class standing a few feet away.
"What?" She asked, looking at him.
"I noticed that you were alone, would you care to dance?" he asked, extending a hand.
"No." She stated simply. "My date, and boyfriend will be back shortly."
"Alright, if you are sure..come find me if he doesn't return." He turned and walked back to his friends, leaving Liz back to her darkening thoughts.
It passed the 20 minute mark, and Liz was about to get up and leave when Felipe walked in, crossing to her at the table. He apologized.
"Just a little..like 15 minutes past." She answered, sighing. Her entire posture screamed of disappointment. Liz stood, trying not to let Fefe see the unhappiness in her eyes. Even if he had come back, she knew he'd be worried about Abby all night.
"I'm sorry," he tried again, frowning slightly. By his own watch he'd been no more than ten minutes. He'd even run the distance back and had hardly spoken with Abby fore more than a couple of minutes. But according to LizBeth he'd been twenty. Twenty? No, he knew he hadn't been *that* long but still she had a right to be annoyed.
"A drink? Something to eat?" She shook her head. "A dance then... Would you like to dance or just sit and talk?"
Oh yeah... she was mad.
(apols for the shortness of this - just back home and have a stack of stuff I have to see to >.<)
Liz nodded slightly as he apologized again. She knew he was sorry, but that didn't seem to make the disappointment go away. All she had wanted for tonight was his attention. Just one night. Felipe was usually pretty busy between school, his family and his other friends, but tonight, it was supposed to have been their first major date since becoming official.
He asked if she wanted something to eat or drink, and she shook her head in response. He offered a dance or to just sit and talk. Honestly, Liz didn't think she could sit and talk without going off right now. "No..I don't want to sit and talk." She answered.
"A dance then." Felipe took her hand, pulling her close to him before walking out to the dance floor. He didn't give her the option to say no, and for once, Liz didn't argue. He wrapped his arms around her waist and held her tight to him.
Liz sighed, the tension in her boy leaving slightly as they moved slowly, her head eventually resting on his shoulder. She cold hear him whispering softly in his native tongue against her ear, and it helped more. Damn him for knowing how to calm her down. She couldn't really stay mad at him anyway. He was only trying to be a good friend. Liz apparently still needed to move past her selfish bits, it was slow going but at least it went!
She knew she also wanted to tell him what she'd revealed the night before, but she didn't want to scare him off, so she just nuzzled against him, her body relaxed.
