Kian waited outside the main entrance, sitting on the steps. He was reading through his texts and emails on his PDA, just to make sure their plans hadn't been canceled. He was very excited and couldn't wait for Connor. He wasn't very good at waiting for things and so he began to sing softly to pass the time. His first inclination as always was a show tune so he sang Tonight from West Side Story because it suited his mood.
His eyes kept scanning the crowds of students leaving, hoping he wouldn't miss his boyfriend. His voice unintentionally got louder as he got more tense, but he didn't really notice.

Though he wouldn’t go on about it, it wasn’t exactly cool after all, Connor still had a soft spot for surprises, be it parties, gifts, anything at all, he loved. So he’d been more than a little impatient himself during his afternoon classes, wondering what Kian had planned. He tried not to get too excited, after all, it could just be something small. But he failed miserably in that attempt, and the fact that he was going to have another date with his sweet boyfriend was something to look forward to anyway. Tomorrow, he promised himself, tomorrow he would dedicate the whole day to catch up with Julia. He had plenty he wanted to quiz his best friend about, the musical she was (quite frighteningly, not that he would admit that to her) staring in, and boys, or lack of them. Wynn seemed to be a phase long over with, something Connor was happy with. He didn’t know the guy that well, he seemed alright, but still, he had hurt his friend, so that was something to always be met with glares.
The last bell finally sounded, and he forced himself to walk to the front entrance, where he and Kian arranged to meet. He heard his boyfriend long before he saw him, and the song made him grin. “Hey.” he greeted, offering his hand, wondering how it was possible for someone to keep getting better looking.

Kian took Connor's hand and stood, pulling him against him for a deep kiss, much to the delight of the few girls that were still hanging around. He supposed it was like straight guys enjoying watching girls make out with each other. With the encouragement, he slipped his tongue into his boyfriend's mouth and squeezed his very fine butt, pulling him tighter against his body which was getting harder by the moment. "I missed you very much, Dóighiúil," he said softly. The word was Gaelic for Handsome which he only knew because his mother had always called his father that.
"Are you ready to go for the surprise or would you rather stay and entertain the girlies?" Kian asked, thinking things might progress beyond PG13 if they kept making out that way. He was doing his best not to push for too much too fast, but Connor made his blood boil in the best possible way. He handed Connor a box done up in blue and white strips and a red bow with white polka dots. Inside the box was a white nautical captains hat.

Connor heard a bit of enthusiastic cheering, girly enthusiastic cheering, when Kian crushed his lips against his own, but after that it was hard to hear much of anything with the blood pounding in his ears. Well, the blood that wasn’t rushing to lower places first. And then he felt a warm tongue press inside his mouth, and felt his butt being groped, and it was very hard not to let his body get carried away. He remembered where they were though, and he didn’t exactly want witnesses to that.
So with a struggle, he pulled away slightly, trying to get his breath back. He picked up that the word was Gaelic, but he was sorely lacking in his knowledge of Gaelic to his father’s chagrin, something he would have to improve on now. “I missed you too.” he grinned. “And as much as they’re enjoying themselves, I’m too impatient to wait for the surprise.”
He smiled further at the colourful box, wondering if it was the surprise, or just part of it. And with all the patience of a child on Christmas morning, he ripped it open, laughing at its contents. “Oh, I love boats!” he commented, wasting no time in putting the hat on, trying to gauge Kian’s reaction on how silly he looked. He always wanted to learn to sail, but opportunity never arose. Until now, maybe. “Tell me you’ve hired a boat?” he smiled far too excitedly.

Kian grinned, pleased that the hat was a hit. "You're very close, but I am not going to tell you more," he teased, taking his hand and leading him to his jeep. He had a large basket in the back with all kinds of goodies for their picnic. He opened the door for Connor as eager as his boyfriend was despite the fact he knew what it was.
"Keep your eyes closed," Kian ordered as he pulled out of the parking lot though he knew the smell of salt water would give him away as they got closer to the Marina. There was a storm in the air and the gulls were wheeling in the sky giving their sharp cries of joy at the wind under their wings. As they pulled into the parking lot, the sound of waves against the pier all combined to make it clear where they were. He hopped out and went to open the door and helped Connor out. "I don't want you to get hurt so you can open your eyes," he said, grinning like an idiot.

“Hey, what’s that in the back?” Connor teased as Kian pulled him closer to his jeep, having a good idea already, but said nothing else as his boyfriend pulled open the door for him. He took his seat, twirling his fingers together from anticipation. Having to wait overnight for a surprise really built up the excitement level. And he wasn’t that patient to begin with, so that didn’t exactly help.
“Okay, okay, my eyes are staying closed.” he laughed, obediently following Kian’s order as the other boy started to drive. Lucky it didn’t take too long, he was really no good at waiting, and the smell in the air soon gave way where they were. He was right, he had to be, Connor figured, Kian hired a boat. He felt a bit guilty, he didn’t like to flash his cash around, but he figured he and his parents were a lot more well off then Kian and his family, so felt bad that the boy spent so much money on him. He would just have to return the spoiling.
“That’s real nice of you.” Connor laughed, stepping out of the car with Kian’s help, before opening his eyes. “I knew it!” he exclaimed. “You hired a boat, didn’t you. Which one?”

Kian grabbed the basket out of the back and reclaimed Connor's hand, but said nothing as he led Connor to one of the floating ramps leading out onto a dock. At the end was a houseboat that was two stories. About 60 ft long, it was in good shape, but was obviously an older boat.
"What do you think of her, Love?" Kian asked, rubbing his thumb over Connor's hand before jumping across to put down the gangplank so Connor could board if he wasn't confident enough to jump himself. On the back of the boat was a freshly painted panther with the words, 'The Sea Panther' On the sliding glass door going inside was a banner. 'Welcome Home, Connor!'
Kian anxiously watched Connor wanting to see every reaction. He had been going to get a smaller, older boat, but once one of his Dad's friends found out he was looking, he had told him he was going to trade up to to get an actual yacht and gave him a really good price on this one. He had always wanted one because his dad had always taken him fishing on one every summer. He had even been on this one for a week once when he was twelve.
He began to put things from the basket into the fridge including a bottle of champagne. The kitchen area was huge and now he knew he would have to cook. "Isn't it cool? The table fits twelve people and it sleeps up to fifteen. Think of the parties we can have.

Connor held off giving Kian his opinion on the boat just yet, because he was admittedly a little confused by his boyfriend’s silence. As he walked up the gangplank, he spotted the boat’s name, and now everything clicked into place. The banner on the glass door just proved it.
“This is yours!” he laughed excitedly, jumping off the gangplank before moving around the deck, having a better look around. And he no longer felt out of place wearing his cool captain’s hat. It was nice, really nice, he decided, both pleased and embarrassed by the boat’s name, knowing why Kian had dubbed it that. He made himself forget about the price, instead just letting himself be an excited teenager on his boyfriend’s cool boat.
Hearing the voice from the direction of the kitchen, Connor followed Kian in. “Yeah, it’s really cool.” he grinned, his mind already drifting to the parties they could throw on the boat. And in his mind, he could already see Patch and Evan finding some way to climb to the top and jumping off. Not that he knew the guys well, but jumping off a boat definitely seemed like the kind of thing that excited the pair.
He also tried not to think about the sleeping arrangements, and by that, the beds in the boat, cause it made him more nervous and excited then he liked at the present time. So back to the cool boat. “It’s amazing Kian, I love it.” he smiled, leaning over the table to kiss his boyfriend briefly. “And I’m really loving this hat.”

Kian grinned, watching the expressions drift across Connor's face as he began to realize this wasn't just a rental. His mother thought he was nuts, but hadn't denied him as it was money had earned himself, not taken from his college money.
Kian showed off the big screen tv and stereo, putting in some Aerosmith to test the latter out. "Mom says I can stay here on weekends as long as my grades don't fall. Do you think your parents would allow you to sleep over occasionally? We can do separate rooms until we are ready for more, I don't want to rush you." Though he did. Even though they had only been together a week, Kian knew Connor was the one for him and not just temporarily.
"I am really glad you like the hat, cause you look amazingly sexy in it," Kian said with a grin and kissed Connor again, deeper and very thoroughly.
Panting Kian pulled away, very much trying to be a gentleman. "My dad loved to fish and we always took a week in the summer to stay on one of his friend's boats and just go up and down the coastline. I loved it, so as soon as I had some money I started looking around," Kian explained, as he pulled some wine glasses from the cupboards. "Shall we christen the boat?"

“I think I can talk them into it.” Connor grinned, getting far too excited about the prospect about weekends alone with his boyfriend. Not that his parents would be impressed, his mother was the type who if Kian had stayed over their house, would insist on separate rooms no matter how long they had been dating, whereas his father would be trying not to think much about it at all. But, on the other hand, his mother usually always was able to be talked around into anything, her soft spot for her son rather large at times, and his old man wouldn’t disagree.
It just Connor wondering himself, about separate rooms. After all, they had only been dating a week after all, so he knew he shouldn’t rush things, not wanting to stuff things up between Kian and himself, and being virtually inexperienced in a lot of things himself. But he was also a horny teenager, so sharing a room with a cute guy had him wanting to cheer. And facing such a difficult decision, he decided it was best to go with the smart option. “Separate rooms, that does seem like a bit of trouble, I’m happy to share.” he grinned, almost nervously.
He wasn’t given much time to think about that though before being kissed again, and when he caught his own breath, he playfully tipped his hat so it was sitting crookedly. “Glad you think so.” he grinned, being wise and taking a step back himself, for now, to give them both breathing room.
“That’s sounds really nice Kian, I’m really glad you could get this. Maybe you could teach me to fish?” he offered, before automatically grabbing the champagne out of the fridge. “Well, seeing all the effort you’ve gone to with getting the boat and making us a nice picnic, I think christening The Sea Panther is the least we can do.” And so without much further ado, he opened the bottle, laughing as the champagne poured out a lot faster than expected. “Quick, the glasses.”
