[Character: Jayson Michaels] [Location: Gym]
Jay could have gone to the memorial or the hospital but instead he decided to head to the gym. He had not been to the hospital since the doctor told him Trixie was going to live after her surgery. He had been there with DJ and the moment the doctr told then that Trixie was going to be okay and could be released by the next day in the evening he jetted for the door. Jay had not been back tovisit his sister since. He had gotten black out drunk the night before. How the hell he was even standing was beside him, but he was.
Jay woke up and dressed in gym clothes and choose to go to the gym. The punching bag was calling his name. Jay walked into the gym and warmed up first. He got into the boxing ring and went a few rounds with someone he had met a few times at the gym. Jay had to be called off the guy because he was getting too rough. Jay actually said sorry, but thats it. He got out of the ring and rested for a few minutes.
Then Jay got up and headed over to the punching bag. He gave it one punch and then another and then another until he was literally pounding on the bag like a mad man. His sister was hurt and it was all his fault. He should have saved her. protected her and all he could do was watch as she fell into his arms. The bastard. it was all his fault. Had DJ not walked over and tried to fight him, he would have seen the gunman. He would have protected Trixie. It was all DJ's fault. Finally Jay stopped when he needed air. He turned to grab a water bottle and saw someone staring, "What are you looking at. Get lost."

Emma sat in the passenger's seat as her father drove. He was going to the memorial with her. She always felt odd in his car, since he drove a police vehicle. He always drove it whether he was on duty or not. She sat listening to the sounds of the police station since he didn't have a proper radio as she stared out the window.
"I think I need to check this one out," her father said suddenly.
Emma looked over at him, her brown eyes wide.
"It's at the gym...probably nothing but someone suspicious was spotted, fits the profile of one of the guys in the gang that went to your school yesterday," he explained. "When we get there you are going to go inside the building and find somewhere safe. He was seen outside, so it will be safer for you inside."
Emma nodded. She would rather stay in the car then go into a gym in her dress as it was clear she'd be out of place, but she knew her father and she knew that he wasn't going to take no for an answer, not when it came to her safety.
They arrive at the gym and her father walked her inside. He told her to find somewhere to sit while he talked to the person at the front desk. Emma wandered inside, finding there really wasn't any place to just sit in a gym unless she sat on a piece of equipment and there was no way she was doing that. The last thing she needed was for someone to need the equipment she was sitting on.
She ended up standing against the wall, next to the water bottles, feeling rather out of place. As she stood there she watched as that boy from school, Jayson approached, but he took no notice of her's and went to grab a water bottle. And then he yelled at her for starting and Emma could feel her cheeks start to burn. She could be such an idiot sometimes, she mentally scolded herself.
"Sorry..." she stammered, "I just..." but she cut off without finishing. "Sorry," she said simply, looking down at the floor, in the opposite direction from him, but otherwise staying put where she stood.

Jay looked at the brunette he just yelled at for no reason. He poured some water over his head and drank some more as he looked her over. She looked familiar. Very familiar, but from where. Then she spoke and something clicked. "I know you....your the silver chick. The one I quoted Wuethering Heights too." He said to her.
He could not remember her name for the life of him though, but something would make it click. He could have sworn her name resembled an actress and a book he had once read for fun, but he would never admit it. He looked her over once more and smiled. "Nice dress....don't....say sorry. " He sighed. He never could yell at a girl like her. She was just so damn nice and the stutter was too damn cute.
"I am just not in a good mood. I should not have taken it out on you." He told her as he finished the water bottle and threw it away. Then he moved the boxing gloves her had just put down out of the way and sat down. He picked up a towel and began to wipe off the sweat from his face and chest. He needed a shower now.

Emma continued to stand there, looking rather meek as he apologized. "It's okay," she said quietly. She of course knew exactly who he was. And she remembered him quoting the book to her too. She had been quite shocked over it and it caused her to be a little curious about him although she wouldn't really admit that.
Although now that he'd yelled at her, she was a little frightened of him. Yes, he'd apologized, yes he seemed to have calmed down now, but still, she wasn't used to people yelling at her...especially really popular boys who were known for getting into trouble. Emma usually stayed out of the way...kept herself invisible, so even though she'd noticed and recognized him first, she hadn't really expected him to notice her standing there although she supposed she did kind of stick out like a sore thumb standing against the wall in a dress in a gym.
"Um...er...thanks," she said when he complimented her dress. She found her cheeks burning a bit and she wasn't sure if it was due to the compliment or to the embarrassment of the whole situation. She twisted a strand of her long dark hair nervously and watched him as he put down his gloves and sat down beside her. Did this mean he wanted to talk to her now? Was she supposed to respond?
Emma hated how dense she could be when it came to social situations. Just talk to him, she inwardly scolded herself, but she still had trouble finding the words. "Bad mood...uh...why...because of yesterday?" she asked. "Did you know anyone...who...who was hurt? I don't...but I was...going to the memorial with my dad...but...he had to here first," she said, leaving out the part about him being a cop and someone suspicious...possibly from the gang had been seen lurking around. She didn't want to cause any distress over something that hadn't even been confirmed after all.

It was a good thing Emma had not told Jay about her father's suspicions. If she had Jay would have knocked everyone until the person who was part of the gang came forward. If they were even there. Jay was mad at a lot of people right now. He was not in a mood to be messed with to be honest, but the girl was not messing with him so why not. He could talk to her. If he could remember her name. Which made him even more mad at himself. "My sister....she was shot in the stomach."
That was all he said. He ran a hand through his hair and looked at her. "Nice dress. Not what I imagine someone would wear to a gym, but why not." He smirked. "The memorial huh. Yeah I heard about that. Not going though. I decided I could use some much needed therapy." He said motioning to the punching bag. He looked at her. She looked so fragile. it was adorable. Jay always had a soft spot of good girls, but good girls also should know to stay far away from Jay. He was a corrupter of sorts.
"What about you. Know anyone hurt in yesterday's festivities." He said sarcastically. Festivities his ass. More like nightmare, but still. He did not care to talk about his sister at the moment. That would cause him to go on a rampage about the object of his anger. That stupid ape, DJ. If he thought for one second he had Trixie that guy was wrong.

"Oh...I'm really sorry," Emma said, when he told her about his sister. She shook her head. "No one I know was injured...but I don't really know a lot of people," she admitted. "Is your sister going to be alright?" she asked. Emma was an only child but she imagined that he felt something like she would have felt if her father had gotten injured on the job. It was something she thought about often considering he was a cop and all...it put him at a higher risk for that sort of thing. However, so far he'd been lucky.
"Yeah...well...I wasn't planning on stopping here," she said when he mentioned the dress again. "I don't really work out," she said, holding up one of her arms she attempted to make a muscle, "Nope, nothing," she said, shaking her head and letting her arm fall back down to her side. Now that he wasn't yelling she didn't feel quite so frightened around him. She kind of wanted to ask him about what other books he read since reading was one of Emma's favorite pastimes and he had quoted from her favorite book which meant he'd read it.
If she knew that Jayson had a thing for corrupting girls like her, she might have been more nervous, but she sort of assumed that a guy like him, popular, who could have any girl, would never have any interest in someone like her...the quiet...almost invisible girl, so she didn't think she had anything to be nervous about. Plus...he could quote from her favorite book...there had to be more to him than he seemed...
"I suppose the memorial will be rather depressing anyway," she reasoned. "I guess most people just feel obligated to go, but I suppose if it makes them feel better its good. So working out makes you feel better...its good you're doing that instead." Emma slid down against the wall until she was sitting down next to him. "I wonder how long my dad is going to be," she said, growing a little tired of standing there.

"The doctor says she is going to be fine. I assume since I have not received a call that she lived through the night. I should be there, but she has her support system. Besides if I go there I will see the guy who is to blame for all this. The stupid idiot won't leave her side either. He is to blame. Trixie and I were talking and the idiot came over and started a fight with me. If he had not been there I would have seen the guy with the gun. I could have stopped it. But no this idiot has to try and weasel his way into Trix's life and ruin it." In his mind DJ was the bad guy. He should not be allowed near his sister and if Jay had his way DJ would pay soon enough. "Sorry. I just can't stand the guy. She will be fine though. Hopefully she can go home tonight or tomorrow morning." He said with a shrug. He just could not go see her lying there lifeless almost.
Jay snorted as she made a muscle, "Thats easy enough to fix, but working out is more then building muscle. Running is a great way to work out. Its about staying in shape." He told her, "But if you ever wanted to work out I am always available." He told her. He looked her over again. She really was a cute one. Good girls did not belong around him. Sometimes Jay could not stop himself from trying to corrupt them.
Jay always did have a thing for good girls, but he was not about to say anything. He was just going to be his normal, charming and flirt self. It helped with the distraction. "The memorial is a good idea, but I am just not into it. Some people need to go there to make sense of the event and I came here." Jay told her.
He looked at her dad. A cop. You could tell by the look. Jay had enough of a run in with the law. He just shook his head and smiled. Oh this just got even sweeter. "Looks like he will be here a little longer. He seems to be searching the place."

Emma nodded and listened to him as he went on about his sister. "I'm sure she's fine," she said about him not getting a call from the hospital. She was glad that his sister was fine...she wished that no one had to get hurt, but what had happened yesterday had been quite a tragedy. She continued to listen as he went on about the guy there with his sister. "If he's not a good guy, maybe you should do something about it," Emma said. She of course had no idea the guy was DJ. She'd actually met him before. He'd helped her out when she'd gone to the diner to pick up dinner and ended up tripping and spilling all of her take out all over the floor. She didn't know him well by any means and had only talked to him that one time, but she had thought he was nice.
"I'm sure your sister knows that you're only looking out for her," she added. Emma didn't have siblings so she couldn't completely understand but she imagined it was the way things were with her parents. After all when she'd lived with her mom, she'd always taken care of her and now that she was with her dad it was the same way. It was probably because her parents had had her so young...neither of them knew what they were doing so growing up, Emma had picked up the slack.
Emma laughed when he smiled about her muscle. "Yeah...I guess I've never really worked out. I'm kind of clumsy...I think I'd hurt myself on the equipment," she admitted. She hated admitting she was clumsy but anyone who knew her at all knew it to be so. "But thanks for the offer...perhaps if I had someone to show me what to do...it wouldn't be so bad." Although Emma was naturally thin so she'd never had much to worry about. She was rather petite in fact.
Emma knew of Jayson's reputation, but he was just so nice to her. She had a hard time believing it. Perhaps her really was different...she couldn't help but think. "Yeah...I think the memorial helps some people," she shrugged. She didn't really want to go either...it was more out of obligation for her although she didn't want to admit that.
She was surprised when he picked out her dad b/c he hadn't been in uniform but then again she supposed he stuck out like a sore thumb as much as she did at the gym. "Yeah...I suppose we'll end up missing the memorial now...but I'm not sure I wanted to go anyway," she admitted to him. The more she talked to him, the less she felt afraid of him which was odd because Emma had always been really shy...afraid to talk to most people.

Jay smiled, "Just what I was thinking. I know there has to be something I can find out about this guy to ruin whatever hold he has over my sister." Jay had a nice plot in mind. DJ could not be all perfect. He had to have screwed up some how and Jay was going to find his mistake and expose it to his sister and then this guy would be done for. DJ had no idea what was in store. "You are very smart." He told her. "I just care about my sister's safety and I do not believe she is safe with this guy. But for now I will let it be. I want her to get better and if she needs the guy right now then fine, but once she is better. I will help her see the truth."
Jay knew DJ to be a good guy and thats what sucked about this the most. DJ was a better guy then Jay was. He was there for his sister, willing to stick by her and be there for her. All the things Jay could not do right now. He was just so scared to walk into that hospital room. Jay shook the thoughts from his head. "Anyway, I am sure you are not that clumsy." He said to her and lightly bumped her. "I could show you around the equipment. I promise to only show you the onces that will not hurt you." he winked.
Her dad was hard to miss. Jay knew cops. How could he not. He had his fair share of run ins. It just contributed to his rep. There was something about Emma. She was so good and innocent. He almost felt bad for wanting to corrupt her. However, it was fun and Jay was sure she would have some fun. He was not going to try and have her do anything to horrible. Just have some fun. Thats all. "Yeah I am glad for the company. It just seems so sad to go and remember what happened. Its easier to try and forget, although I doubt any of us will forget."

"You sound like a really good brother," Emma said when he told her how he was going to let his sister be with the guy for now because she was hurt and the guy was helping her through it. What he was doing seemed very selfless to Emma. It gave her even more respect for Jayson. The more he talked to her, the more she convinced herself that there was much more to this guy than he seemed. Of course she didn't know the guy in question was DJ or what Jayson's real plan was. If she had known either of those, it would change things. But the things Jay was saying made sense to her. He was coming off as a really good guy who cared deeply about people.
Emma smiled when he told her he'd help her with the equipment, blushing a little when he winked at her. "Right now?" she asked. "I'm not really dressed for it," she said, stating the obvious. "Plus I don't belong to this gym so I don't think I can just come another time." Unless she was to sign up but she doubted she would ever do that, mostly because she knew she'd never come on her own. "But thank you," she added, knowing that his offer was a good one, he was a very nice guy, she thought.
Emma had never really considered that someone would want to corrupt her so it was the farthest thought from her mind. Plus, if she was to start going out with someone, even if it was just hanging out and not dating, she was sure her father would want to meet the person first. He was sort of old fashioned that way. "Thanks," she said again, when he said he was glad for the company. "I'm glad too," she said mustering up a smile. "No...I don't believe we'll ever forget but I do believe we'll move on eventually, even if it doesn't seem like it now."
