Like high school the University had no classes on the weekends. Of course this time Sari got to pick her schedule so she had Friday's free. All day free. Which was nice. So she always left campusto go do something. Sometimes she went with her soon to be sorority sisters and other times with her gorgeous boyfriend Christophe. Today she could not find Christophe so she sent him a text that she was at the carnival at the end of the peir.
Sari was eating cotton candy as she walked around. She loved the year round carnival. It never got boring no matter how many times she rode the same rides. She actually hadn't been to the carnival in about two or three weeks. So for Sari it felt exciting to be back. Sari took a seat for one of the shows. It was a cute stage show about different cultures. There was always somethig different.
The best part of the live shows were when people messed up. Now perhaps that was not something to laugh at but this time it was funny cause the guy on stage had a wardrobe malfunction. His pants had fallen down to reveal heart boxers. Sari was laughing so hard she didn't notice someone join her until she looked to her side and smiled, "Hey."

"You are cruel," stated Felipe with a grin as he sat down at Sari's side. "That poor man probably didn't mean to expose himself like that and it likley wasn't a part of his act!" That set her off even more and Felipe grinned back. "So how have you been?" he asked. He hadn't seen Sari in weeks and so it would be good to catch up with her again. "Are you still seeing your French boy or am I in with a chance?" he asked with a wink. He knew her answer and so was only joking with her.
"And tell me how college is going... For me it is a little tedious as I have yet to meet any girl willing to risk a date with me." He lifted his shoulders. "It would seem my luck in that area is still as terrible as it was when I was at high school!" He'd seen nothing of LizBeth since they'd broken up... nor had he heard from her. Perhaps that was for the better. And Abby.... No doubt she was now with Diego as she'd vanished as well. He was starting to see a certain trend!

"I am not cruel. That guy choose to go on stage and knew the possiblity of something happening, so it stands to reason he should have chosen different boxer shorts. Those boxer shorts scream laugh at me." Sari said smiling. She was kidding around, but the sight had been funny to see the pants fall and and heart boxers revealed. She scooted over."Sit...talk." She said pulling him down and looking at him rather then the show. "I have seen this show a thosand times, so I know whats part of the act." She winked.
"Damn it. I knew you had a crush on me. Sorry to break your heart, but yes Christophe still owns mine." She commented chuckling. "His french accent got to me." She smirked. It had been more then that, but she was only kidding of course. "But I may allow you to plead your case..." She joked.
"Your luck is not bad, you are just not going after the right girls. Why didn't you tell me you were having bad luck, I could have helped. You have to let meset you up on a blind date." Sari said. "Now the girl is still in high school, but i think you will like her." Sari could feel the wheels in her head turning. "The other girls will be so jealous they have no idea what they are missing out on." She told Felipe. It really was true. The girls not giving him the time of dday were stupid.

Felipe feigned a heart-broken look when Sari told him she was still with Christophe. “Then I shall learn that same accent,” he declared, laughing along with Sarissa. After all, his own Brazilian-Portuguese accent was heavy and to contemplate adding in a French twang would make him absolutely incomprehensible!
“Ah, you are right,” Felipe added when Sarissa commented on his knack of going after the wrong girls... Not that he’d truly ‘gone after’ Abby. Felipe knew that had been only a matter of time, though. It was thanks to the timely news that Abby’s heart belonged elsewhere that saved him from making a total fool out of himself.
“But as for a blind date...” He laughed and shook his head. “Those always end badly! Never once have I heard of good coming from such a first encounter! “Promise me you won’t go and do anything, Sari...!” he added with a threatening tone to his voice.
A shame he ruined it completely with his grin.
A blind date? Would it be so bad?

"Nah, I think your accent is just fine. "Sari complimented. It was. Had she not been with Christophe, she could have been with Felipe, but the truth was she had so much in common with Christophe and he understood her love of archelology that it was a perfect fit almost. However, Felipe made a good friend. One she knew she could count on which is why she wanted to help him.
"Oh come on. I promise you. This will not be one of those bad blind dates. This girl is really nice and she could use a date with a nice, handsome, sweet guy. Someone who might give her a chance to feel good for a night. Please. I promise it wont some crazy stalker." Sari smiled and batted her eyes. One of those pretty please faces.
"Besides a blind date can be a little fun. You never know. its a risk. One night of your time. If it will make you feel better, we can double date. You and her and me and Christophe." Sari suggested. "Maybe tomorrow might or sunday evening?" Sari asked. "Please." This could be so much fun. Of course Sari would have to talk to her friend, but she thought her friend would go for it. This could be interesting. She could of course make sure Felipehad a good night no matter what since it was her idea, but she thought he would be fine with the girl she picked.

Felipe didn’t look all that convinced when Sarissa assured him the blind date thing would be fine. At least she’d promised the girl was nice. Her sister? Maybe... A possibility but... Felipe had a feeling she would turn out to be someone else entirely. “Ok... tomorrow or Sunday is fine,” he told her. “And if you wanted to double date then that’s fine as well. That way when she decides she can’t stand me you will be there to help me out!” His confidence was at something of an all time low. Hardly a shocker given what had happened between him and LizBeth. His courage had then failed him with Abby and that particular boat had since well and truly sailed! That was something he would forever regret as he’d felt he and Abby would have been great together. They understood each other as only best friends could and it seemed that was all they would ever be. Felipe was happy that at least they still had their friendship.
And Sarissa... She was also a good friend. Was that all he was destined to be to the girls here? A friend. A shoulder to cry on...
‘God, I hope not,’ Felipe thought to himself with a mental shudder.
“Just let me know which night... what time... and where to be,” he added. He was 99% sure the date wouldn’t happen anyway.
“So any plans for the rest of this evening?” he asked.

"How about tomorrow evening. I know she will agree. She is free most Saturday's." Sari quickly texted Christophe.
"Double date tomorrow with Felipe. I am setting him up. You free?- love you- Mohini" She pressed send. She was fairly sure Christophe had told her he had the night free. If not then they would simply reschedule. No worries.
"Trust me. More like the roles would be reversed. It would be you who can't stand her. But don't worry. I do not see this happening. Have a little faith. If it goes wrong you can blame me. I am kind of strong arming you into this, but I think you will have fun. Even if it is just one date. Christophe and I will make sure its fun." At least she hoped so.
"Tomorrow. 8pm. Meet at the Pier." She gave him the name of a restaurant to meet at. "That way you have your own escape route if you need it." Sari winked. "You see I had plans to spend time at the carnival, but they go derailed when some cute guy sat next to me." Felipe was cute. But Christophe was hot. Still she could look. Of course she would be heading back to Christophe's tonight and will tell him everything.
"So my plans are to find a way to cheer you up. Grab an ice cream with me?"

Tomorrow? Felipe's eyes widened slightly. Sure, he'd agreed tothe blind date but he'd assumed it was just something Sari had said to try and make him smile... Not that she had been serious! To confirm that he watched aghast as she sent a text to her boyfriend, setting up the time and place. It would seem there was no escaping his 'fate' now! All he could do was hope Sarissa would keep her promise and that she'd help him out if (when?) it all fell apart!
How bad could it be? If he and his unknown date didn't get on then they would still be able to have a fun evening out with friends... right?
Wrong. Felipe didn't even know Sarissa's guy so the only person he *would* know was the girl sitting at his side. Awkward came to mind but he told himself not to be so damned negative. Just because his past relationships had gone wrong didn't necessarily mean every one of them would from here on... did it?
* * *
Christophe scanned the text message with interest, the hint of a smile curling his lips. He typed in a reply... and hit send...
'Playing at making matches are you? I hope you know what you are doing! I shall be there of course. Je t'aime... Takedo'
He pushed his phone back into his pocket. Tomorrow night would be interesting indeed and he found himself wondering just which poor girl she would be talking into joining them at the pier...
* * *
"Ok... 8 o'clock at the pier," repeated Felipe. "I shall be there..." and as Sari had pointed out, he would have his car with him so could make an excuse and leave if things were too painful!
He nodded at Sari's ice cream suggestion and the pair got to their feet. Felipe brushed himself down as they wandered towards the nearest ice cream stand. "And you already have," he added.
"I have what?"
Felipe quickly hugged her. "Cheered me up."

Sari read Christophes texts and smirked. So she texted back and pressed send.
"I will be at your place tonight, we can talk about it. *wink*- XOXO Mohini"
She knew how he would take that. So she started off toward ice cream with Felipe when he hugged her. She hugged him back. "I am glad. I hate seeing you all sad. I mean you are always such a happy guy. Come to think of it. So is Christophe. I see a trend with foreigners and being happy." She smirked just kidding around.
"Come on you can buy me a thank you ice cream sundae. Cause i could use a nice big one with caramel and cherries and nuts. Oh I love nuts." She said not realizing how that sounded until a few moments later when she cracked up laughing at her own comment.
"What about you? What are you going to get?" She asked. "The carnival is a bad idea sometimes. I tend to come here and load up on junk food. But thats half the fun. Just no rides after food. I did that once. I didn't feel good after that." She said as she walked over to the ice cream stand.
"So besides the blind date. What else are you doing?"She asked. "Have youpicked a major yet?"She wondered. He was only a freshman, but sometimes freshmen picked their majors right away and other times they waited. Sari was lucky to know what she had wanted to do and so had Christophe. She wondered if Felipe was like that or if he was not sure.

"Nuts?" Felipe laughed along with Sari. "I'm sure Christophe is pleased to know that! As for me I shall have the same although my fondness for nuts doesn't seem to be quite as forceful as yours!" The continued onwards towards the ice cream booth in good spirits, emerging moments later with a large cone apiece. They would have this and then they could think about what to do next.
Sarissa was right though... No rides for a while!
"You asked about my major," he finally replied. "I haven't settled on one yet and am torn between theatre, film and TV or furthering my sports education. Its hard but... I might be able to incorporate both. I have time still to decide..." but not all that much longer!
"You and Christophe are both studying anthropology?" He knew that to be Sari's passion and seemed to recall she and Christophe had the same interests.
