Wes scanned the cafeteria uncertainly. He was still painfully new to the school and, as such, didn't really know anyone. He'd tried to find Pippa but she seemed to be remarkably hard to track down. If he didn't know better Wes would have thought she was avoiding him!
Instead he faced the prospect of lunch alone. No great surprise there. Hell, he'd spent the entire freaking summer alone!
He dropped down at the only vacant table and peered warily into the pack of snadwiches his mom had pushed into his hands that morning. If it was ham again he swore he'd slit his own throat with the edge of the plastic lid that he'd just unclipped.
BLT.
'Mom... I love you!' he thought to himself and he scooped up the sandwich to take a bite. Maybe tomorrow he'd see Pippa... or, even better, meet someone he could strike up some sort of a friendship with... and even arrange to meet up with the following day.
"Yeah, right," he mumbled before taking another bite...

Vasilisa had had a great day so far. She was ready for the new year, the games, her friends everything. She already planned to hit the track and gym for a few hours after school. She was very grateful that the school allowed them in their after school hours at least for a little bit which is why she planned to do weights first. Getting to the cafateria it was crowded, she had ran down to the pizza place and got a huge order of spaghitti she would definatly work off the carbs so she was not shy to eat like this. Drinking her dr pepper through a straw she looked for her friends but did not see them.
She noticed a guy by himself and did not know his face, so she knew that he was new. Walking over to the table she smiled down at him. "Mind if I sit here?" she asked indicating the table. She didn't know if he was waiting for anyone so she always made sure it was okay before sitting down. Of course her father had taught her manners, she had to be, when they traveled all over, to different countries and cultures. Who knew her father who was a business man yes but also a mob boss as she found out over the summer would put so much empahsis on manners.

"Sure thing," Wes replied with his boyish grin. The girl was something of a looker after all. He'd be crazy to say no! He scrambled to his feet in a totally inelegant manner and leaned over the table to push the chair out as far as he could reach (that wasn't saying a lot!).
A girl that looked as hot as she did was eating alone? Well, not strictly true as she was currently sitting opposite him but... alone as in not with her friends.
A crime against human nature in his eyes.
"I'm Wes," he offered. "Wesley Domaszewski." He thrust his hand towards the girl, the bright smile surfacing once more. How could he fail to be that way when looking at her?
Wow.... Were ALL the girls in California blessed with the stunning looks gene? It would seem so!

"Thank you" Vasilisa said and sat down in the chair. She laid the container that held her food on the table and sat down her drink before laying her bag on the table next to her. She opened her container and breathed in the smell of the spaghitti and smiled in pleasure. "Nice to meet you Wes I am Vasilisa Remington but you can call me Lissa" she said to him with a smile on her face. "How do you like school today so far?I can tell your new" she smiled. "I think a guy like you would be one all us girls remember if you were here last year" she said to him before taking a bite of her spaghitti.
She couldn't help the moan that esacped her mouth after she swallowed and then blushed . "Sorry this always seems to get that response from me" she indicated her food. "They make their own sauce, a family recipe I was told. It really burst on your tounge and gives you a good feeling" she laughed."And now you proably think I am a freak or something" she said laughing at herself. Yes she was herself and she would rather be herself then ever act fake. "Well you are breave trying the school food" she teased him lightly. "I am joking, we actually do have good food" she added. "But alas I need more calories then what they put in their food so I usually run out and get something." She ate some more of her food and took some more drinks from the stray in he diet doctor pepper.
"Are you from the beautiful state of California or are you from out of state?" she asked him. She hoped she did not sound like a nosey chick but she just liked getting to know people, and the only way to know people is to ask questions. Plus a big plus in her book was he was not part of the mob life, if he was she would know his face, or his father, beacause her father would of introduced them or she would of seen pictures already.

“Pleasure to meet you, Lissa,” Wes replied and he grinned when she got stuck into her lunch. It was rare to see a girl enjoy food quite as much as she was right now. Normally they seemed to pick and prod at their lettuce leaves and then claim they were ‘full to bursting point’. “Nah... this is from home,” he assured her as he picked up his BLT sandwich once more. “I doubt I will ever be brave... reckless?... enough to try school food!” He laughed and then took a bite of the sandwich.
“I’m not from around here,” Wes replied. “BC born and bred. That’s British Columbia... Canada. Place called Squamish.” He threw her a wry smile. “No one’s ever heard of Squamish but I can promise you it does exist! Aww crap... I forgot my drink.” Wes looked around, spying the vending machine set against the far wall. “Be right back!” he added, soon returning with a can of Sprite.
“You said you needed extra calories... Are you in training or something?” She looked fit enough and clearly kept herself in shape. He pulled the ring on the can of soda and took a long haul.

"You are smart along with good looks" Lissa smiled at him. She crossed her legs and took a bite of spaghitt and took a drink. "It does look good" she said when she checked out his sandwich. It was good that he did not think her disgusting or anything because of her amount of food, sure men thought she was hot but some got turned off when they saw how much she ate and could eat, and that she enjoyed eating that much. "I have to say the food that can't be messed up like pizza, cookies, and tacos are actually very good here" she told him. "So I would reccomend tryig them for sure."
"You are right I have never heard of Squamish" she said to him and took a sip of her drink through the straw. "It sounds like a small town by the name of it. Is L.A. a big change then, like a culture shock change?" she asked him curiously. "Of course I am not from here myself either I was born in New York city, and half of me is not american, my mothers half in me is russian, hence the name" she said with a laugh and a smile. She idly wondered how the winter sports were near where he grew up in Squamish. "Is the skinng and all good where you are from?"
"Yeah I train all year round to keep in shape. I do track and field and cross country along with gymnastics and vollyball" she said. "So the carbs are good for me" she grinned. "Just think I am one of the lucky ones that can eat whatever she wants since she burns it off quick" she said teasing her self. "Do you do any sports?" she asked him.

Wes held the sandwich towards Lissa. "Want a bite?" he offered. "I have plenty! I grew up in Taco Bell so know how good those babies can be!" The Domaszewski boarding house up Mount Baker had a Taco Bell only a mile away. Perfect for pit-stops on the way home from school.
"Yeeeah Squamish is small," he told her. "But Vancouver is only a few miles south and that's pretty massive. Then there's Whistler just north up the road towards Jasper. Small as well but, man, it's a huge tourist trap. Summer hiking and mountain biking and winter sports. Ski-ing, tobogganing, skating... anything you can do in winter they do in Whistler," he told Lissa with a wink. "My summer job was as a hiking guide on Blackcombe. That's one of the two mountains behind Whistler. Its a perfect ski location," he added. "2010 will see it housing the winter Olympics so there's a lot of work going on there right now. Re-building and renovating as well as making the actual pistes come up to Olympic standards. It'll be an exciting place to visit in 16 months or so!"
"Sounds like you keep yourself active for sure," Wes replied. "For me I love to ski... of course... and I like basketball and volleyball but my main sport passion is ice hockey. I mean, come on, what self-respecting BC-er doesn't follow the Vancouver Canucks?" he asked with a broad smile.
"Now... you fancy that bite?" he asked. He was still holding his BLT sandwich out towards her. "Far as I know I don't have anything *too* contagious!"

"I would love a bite" Lissa smiled. She leaned over and took a bite and chewed and swallowed. "Hhhmm that is good, a excellent home made sandwich" she grinned. "I eat at home most nights myself" she said. "Our cook is a excellent cook" she smiled. She hoped she did not sound like some rich snob because she was not. "Did your mom or dad make this? Or is this a job you did yourself?" She liked cooking with Ella there cook, it was like she was cooking with her grandmother. Ella has turned out to be much more then cook, she is her grandmother, she has been around since Lissa was little.
"Sounds like a good sport. You can easily get to the other places but you don't have the town over run with touriest" she said and smiled. She took a drink of her drink and ate a few more bites of her spaghitti. "I might have to hit up whistler this winter, get my ski and stuff on" she laughed and smiled. "I admit I have a thing for sports, any kind. I like ski and snowboarding and all" she told him. "I bet the girls were happy to go hiking with a hottie like you as their guide" she teased him but was being honest. She knew girls would go crazy over this boy as he was around longer, heck, she was thought he was gorgeous and he was cool to. "Are you planning on going back for the Olympics?"
"A man after my own heart" she grinned. "A fellow sports lover" she said happily. It was great to talk to a guy about sports that knows what you are talking about. "We have great vollyball teams, do you watch the girls play vollyball and all?You should I may be biased but we are a kick ass team" she grinned. "I haven't seen ice hockey yet but who knows I just might have to now" she gave him a coy wink and took a sip from her drink. "Is there a lot of injuries that happen during hockey? I have even heard of that team, of course it helps that I know some of my father associates are form BC to and into ice hokey."

“Me? Make anything edible?” Wes laughed. “If I’d made this sandwich no way would I have offered you a bite,” he went on. “You’d have sued me for food poisoning! No my mom made it for me. You have a cook? Wow...! You must be pretty well off then, eh?”
He settled back and relaxed even more, long legs stretched out beneath the table and somehow (miraculously?) not managing to either kick Lissa’s shins or tangle his size 11’s with her 4’s. The marvels of luck.
“You’d love Whistler,” he replied when she commented about the place. “Maybe not so much Squamish,” Wes admitted. It wasn’t anywhere near as picturesque as the ski resort up the road a bit further north.
Wesley grinned. “Dunno about the girls comment or me being a hottie! But I’m definitely going back for the Olympics,” he stated firmly. “I have several mates I can stay with and even a couple in Whistler Village itself. The entire area will be buzzing, I mean you should see the cute mascots they’ve come up with. T-shirts, furry toys, key rings.. you name it and already on sale when I left a few months back. Talk about being prepared,” he finished with a short laugh.
“Aahh yeah... girls volleyball.” Wes grinned. “What boy wouldn’t want to watch that! Say, if you’re interested I would be happy to take you to a hockey game. The LA Kings play near here and I’m sure I could get us some tickets to one of their games. On the 7th they’re playing the Canucks... I’m definitely going to that one... Are you up for it? Or would you be too embarrassed at being ith the token Canucks fan in a sea of local supporters?”

"Well I know now to never eat anythign you make. I don't want food poisoning to kill me" Lissa teased him good naturedly. He had the vibe that he was cool with that and would not take offense. Espically since he said something aobut it first." I heard mom's are the best cookss" she said. Since she did not know that from first hand experince she had to listen to others. "We do have money" she said softly. "My father is a buinsessman, companies and associates all over the world, and he does import and export as well here in the states." She had to lie about what kind of buisness he does since she just can not blurt out what her father does. "But please don't think I am some stuck up snob, so far from it, I actually hate when people are" she said honestly.
"Who knows I might love it so much I keep going back" she grinned at him. "It might end up there with Paris France and all as my top favorite place" she said. She loved to travel so she was glad to talk about that with him. "Have you travels anywhere but well here?" she asked with a sweet smile. It would be cool if hey had more in common to other then love of various sports.
"You are a hottie trust me" she told him with a grin. "I will have to look into my father getting some tickets even if it is just me" she said to him. Her father more then likely would not be going with her since that is not really what he is into. He could plan a trip to see some associates wherever instead, since he did trust her to travel alone since she was sixteen years old and she knew that would not change. She was very independent because of how she was raised, her father and step mother raised her to be that way.
"True girls jumping up and down getting all sweaty whos dream wouldn't htat be" she said with a laugh and a smile. "I would love to go a hockey game with you. And as far as I know no plans for on the 7th" she gave him a smile. "I don't mind who you cheer for since I have no idea who to cheer for yet myself" she laughed. "So really I am not form L.A. orignally I cheer for New York teams anyway" she laughed. "I mean so we will definatly be the odd balls alll around" she grinned.
