Fallon would love to go to prom, but she didn't care. She actually made a few prom dresses for people. She loved being paid to make things. Except it made her run out of material fast. Not that it was a bad thing. All she had to do was hop on a bus and head off to the store. Which is where she currently was trying to find things for a few finishing touches on some prom dresses and other things. She still had her normal clothes to worry about. Fallon liked making things. Her mother was worried cause she spent all her time in her room, but Fallon liked it. Of course she was not always alone, she had Thad or Sidira.
Fallon was out and about right now, so where was the drama with someone who enjoyed privacy. Fallon just shrugged it off. Her mother always got into those kinds of moods. If she said something and Fallon did not agree a fight always followed cause Fallon was not good about her outbursts. She tended to not know when to just stop. She could not even blame her bipolar medication on it, it was just her temper when it came to her mother telling her what to do. She never did well with that. Fallon was almost done until she reached the material section and of course the material she wanted had to be on the top shelf and Fallon was short. "Damn." She said to no one in particular. She saw someone standing next to her and tapped their shoulder. "Excuse me, do you know if there is a worker around here. I need help reaching that." She pointed.Fallon did not feel like going searching so she hoped the other person had either just seen or knew where a worker was, assuming they could not reach it themselves.

With little to do with his evening Takumi decided to run an errand or two for his mother. He didn't mind in the slightest and he hopped onto his bright red Vespa, making for the chemist shop first. A bottle of cough syrup for Mayuki. The poor kid had been hacking her guts up all last night. He paid for it and then moved on.
He rummaged in his pocket for the scrap of fabric his mother had given to him. She was making some curtains for the spare bedroom and needed another 2 metres. Without the sample there was no way in hell he'd have gone home with the correct cloth!
He stepped into the store... and looked around in abject dismay. So much stuff! All he wanted was this particular material but how was he supposed to find it on his own? He needed help... And fast!
It was as he was looking for that help that he stumbled across a familiar figure. Fallon Cotton. The maker of his favourite jacket, no less, and sister of his 'little brother'.
He walked over to her and leaned close. "Fallon-chan! It is good to see you here! How is otouto-san? I have missed seeing him!" He looked at the bundle of cloth she'd been trying to reach. "Do you need som aid?"
She nodded and Takumi stretched upwards. At 5 feet and 7 inches only he was only 2 inches taller than her... His fingers fell well short.
"I can lift you perhaps? Or if I make step with my hands you can maybe reach?" It didn't occur to him that the far easier option was to actually go and find an assitant of greater stature!

Now Fallon could have chosen a different fabric, but it just didn't fit with the accessories, so she wanted this fabric. Her mother made that option known and Fallon just said she didn't understand the need for certain fabric. Fallon was considering scaling the shelves but she could picture it falling down and squishing her. So she decided she need a less painful approach. She was lost in through when Taki spoke to her. When she did hear his voice she recognized it instantly.
Fallon turned toward the voice and smiled, "Taki." hey." She beamed. "How is the jacket holding up?" Taki was one of the first people she actually made something for besides her siblings and that had been a huge accomplishment for her. "Oh yes, I am a bit short to reach that fabric up there. So if you could help that would be so nice of you." She said. "Lifting me up is fine." Fallon was just thinking lifting up would take a shorter amount of time and in her mind it was relatively un dangerous.
"You sure you can lift me?" She asked although one look at Fallon said she needed to eat more anyway. She was not fat but she could be considered a bit skinny, sometimes. She positioned herself between Taki's arms so he could lift her up. "So what brings you here?" Fallon asked, might as well make conversation with the boy who currently held her. She reached for the fabric and got what she needed, but ended up knocking a few others down as well. "Watch out!." She called.

Thank goodness Fallon was slender. Again, Takumi weighed in at precious little more than she did but he was stronger than initial appearances would make a person believe. His strength lay in his arms, thanks to endless hours practicing bass guitar. That said, he knew he wouldn't be able to hold her for long.
"Be quick!" he urged, teeth gritted together. He didn't want to drop her and he wanted her to also reach the cloth she was after. Takumi inched her a little higher.
He'd been about to answer her question regarding his reason for being at the store when three bails of cloth came hurtling downwards, accompanied by a shouted warning.
"Kuso!" he shouted, one ball landing on his head and unravelling at a frightening rate of knots. Takumi stumbling backwards... Fallon lost her balance... She landed on the floor (luckily on the other two dropped bails and with her trophy in her hands) and Takumi was deposited on his rear end, nicely encased much as would be a badly formed Egyptian mummy, in yards of irridescent teal cloth. He looked down at it.
'Nice little silver metallic thread in it,' he thought to himself. It would make a cool waistcoat...
He peered at fallon, one section of the cloth draped comically over his head.
"You have it?" he asked in hope more than anything else. He didn't relish the prospect of repeating their stunt!

Fallon let out a little yelp as she felt her body fall. Luckily there was a cushion for her with the other fabric. When she looked over at Taki she couldn't help but laugh and got a quick picture with her phone. "Yup, I got it, and I like this blue fabric. i might have to bring that with me as well and get a few yards." She said more to herself. "This is the problem with me in a fabric store. I always end up with more then I meant to get, but I do end up using it all eventually."
Fallon finally stood up and helped Taki out of the fabric. "Are you okay?" She asked with laughter still in her voice. "I got a good picture of you." She said. Once Taki was free Fallon wrapped up the fabric and just placed it on the shelf in front of her, "They will move it once they realize it's on the wrong shelf. I really have no idea why they have fabric up so high anyway."
Fallon shurgged, "Thad is fine. I am not sure if I said that already or not. He is currently on groundation still. That boy always gets into trouble." She commented. "But it was rather funny this time. The reason he got grounded that it is." She giggled. "Have you found what you needed?" She asked not even sure why he was in the store but it couldn't hurt to ask.

He laughed along with Fallon... Even more so when she snapped a shot of him with her camera. "You should not show that to ANYone else, Fallon-chan!" Takumi warned her with a broad grin etched across his face. "You like this as well?" he quueried, pulling the cloth from around his head. "I think it would be good as a waistcoat. Vest. I am not sure what it is called here. But I am fine. You have your cloth and so I am even more fine!" he finished with a wry laugh.
He untangled himself from the yards of material and they re-rolled it under the careful scrutiny of a watching shop assistant.
"She could help," he muttered but they soon finished their task.
"I am pleased to hear Thad is well," he replied. Takumi frowned, wondering what had caused Thad to be grounded and for Fallon to laugh. A story to be told for sure and he intended hearing it.
"No," he replied to her last question. He rummaged in a pocket for the scrap of cloth. "I have to get some more of this but..." He looked around in complete bewilderment.
"That one?" Fallon asked, pointing towards a nearby shelf.
"Hai! Sugoi! Arigatou, Fallon-chan! That is the one!" He grabbed the material (and the teal with silver thread one) and they hauled their armfuls over to the counter for measuring and cutting.
Takumi glanced over at Fallon while they waited. "Do you have to go right home from here or will you have time to walk and chat some more?" Thad's story was intriguing him!

"Well now you are just making it impossible for me not to show it. Now I have to show it." Fallon said still laughing. "Especially to your girlfriend, preferably before prom." She smirked. "What's her number again?" She asked wondering if Taki would fall for the ruse and naturally say Izzy's number then Fallon could text it to her. Playing around of course. "I know what you mean, and if you like I can make one for you. I just want to use the fabric in something cause its cute."
She helped Taki re roll the fabric, "I learned people who work in stores like this tend to do work only when asked." Fallon said as they both placed the fabric back and she pointed out where the fabric he was looking for was. "I should work here, I know where everything is." she joked. Not that her mom would let her get a job anyway.
"Nope I can take a walk. I am finished with homework and already had supper, so I am free for the night, as long as I am home by curfew and I have plenty of time until then." Fallon paid for her stuff and waited for Taki as they began a nice walk. "It all started with Thad thinking he could get out of a test at school."
Fallon proceeded to tell Taki about how Thad tried to fake sick, by placing a thermometer on a hot lamp. Both Fallon and Sidra had warned him to try hot water, but he choose a lamp, which made the thermometer spike up to 105 degrees. So their mom proceeded to try and tell Thad he was lying and of course Thad denied it up until the point when their mom said if his fever was that high then he would have to be put into a bathtub full of ice to be cooled down. "I have never seen him run so fast to catch up to Sidra in my life."

"Izzy's number is..." He paused and wagged an index finger at Fallon, a grin splitting his face from ear to ear. "No no, I will not be fooled that easily!" he added with a laugh. They both paid for their items and then headed outside.
Takumi's mouth fell open as he listened to Fallon's tale of otouto-san's stupidity. No wonder he hadn't seen anything of Thad for the past few days. He laughed at the mental image of Thad running from his mother as she carried a bucket filled with ice. "I see I need to talk to him and tell him how to fake an illness!"
They'd reached a small street stall who was selling something Takumi hadn't heard of. "What is it?" he asked Fallon. "Kettle corn...?"
"Like popcorn," she told him. "Just cooked differently."
"Popcorn! I like that!" he enthused. "I know you have already eaten but... shall we share some?"
Fallon nodded and Takumi bought a bag of a caramel flavoured variety. The pair walked shoulder to shoulder, matching paper bags containing their material under their arms and the pack of kettle corn held by the Japanese boy between them. They were taking it in turns to grab a few kernels.
"Look!" he said with a surprised look on his face. "That man over there! He has a monkey that dances! Sugoi!" He shoved the half empty bag of corn into his other hand and grabbed Fallon's free hand instead, hauling her over so that they could watch.
"Oh, I would like to have a monkey such as that!" he said. "Have you ever seen such a thing before?"

"Oh fine. I will just ask Thad when i get home, or better yet Sidra." Fallon joked. "Unless you wanna bribe me to keep me quiet?" She was still only kidding around. Fallon was never gonna send the photo. It had been a joke just like she was sure Taki was joking. "That picture is now your caller Id." She warned him playfully.
By the end of the story they had walked to the popcorn stand and were laughing. Thad was precious. He was her brother after all. Poor kid could never stay out of trouble for too long. Fallon loved kettle corn and took a couple handfuls before remembering she was sharing. When the guy with the monkey came around Fallon should have guessed Taki would be excited. He was new to America. She followed quickly. Not that she had much choice, but she was happy to watch the man and his monkey.
"You can get a pet monkey, just need a permit." The monkey was dancing around the crowd and danced in front of Taki. "I hear they throw their own poop." She said with a cringe. "I think he left you a present." Right by Taki's shoe was a puddle of liquid. Yuck. Fallon could not help but laugh, "This is not your night is it."

Takumi nudged Fallon, knowing she was joking with him about sending the photo to Izzy. That said, it wouldn't bother him if she did. The teal cloth sort of suited him. Ok, so he kind of resembled an Indian woman but the colour was still good! "My what? Caller ID?" His eyes widened. "Like when I ring you that picture will show up?" Fallon nodded with a broad smile. "You are both heartless and cruel," he cried, ruining the effect my laughing.
Takumi was deeply glad he'd run into Fallon as she was making him laugh a lot. He hadn't seen Izzy for a couple of days and so was sorely in need of this. He would put up with her teasing as it was a small price to pay!
"A pet? A monkey as a pet?" He shook his head. "Hashi would be jealous," he added and in reference to his beloved long golden-haired dachshund. "Oh no... I couldn't have a monkey...!" And he agreed to that even more when he stepped in a puddle of.... "Kuso! Is that piss?" he demaded and that set Fallon off even more.
He grinned at his companion. "In fact I count myself lucky tonight," he corrected her. "Not only did I find myself a new waistcoat... well, soon... but I met with one of my best friends. What could be better than that?" He shook his left foot as he spoke... Ok, he could have done without the monkey piss!
