The night was calm and relatively cool. A perfect night to have an evening bicycle ride in Amy's books. Then again, she didn't need a perfect night to ride her ten-speed. So it was that she took it out for a ride, enjoying the cool breeze as it whipped through her long blonde hair.
A little over two hours, she found herself craving for something to quench her thirst and found a guy pushing a cart with a juicer, a basket of fruits and a stack of big plastic cups. She flagged him down just as she slowed her bike and with a smile, she ordered a banana and apple juice. Once she got a cup and paid for it, she headed to the nearest bench and sat down to enjoy her drink. She parked her bike beside the bench and watched as people
The boulevard was still bustling with activity even though it was pushing eleven and tomorrow was a weekday. She saw couples enjoying a corn dog, a set of parents chasing their kids down the pier as they grinned underneath their sticky faces, and old people just walking around. It was then that Amy felt the need to have her dad around. Being the only child and having her father gone most of the time kind of stung. Sure it helped her be independent but she still needed her dad most of the time...
She was so deep in thought that she didn't even realise someone was sitting beside her.

Landon had been everywhere and nowhere today but then again that was the nature of Landon. All over the place...never stopping...never resting...but not paying attention to one bit of it on the way. She'd gotten a message from her brother that he hand found some people that believed in ghosts and he was ghost hunting with them. Landon had considered joining but she knew her brother was less social that she was usually so she figured she'd back off and let him have some fun with out.
The girl with long dark hair instead walked about, looking for something fun to do. She was dressed in an oversized T-shirt over a pair of leggings with black boots that reached her mid calf. She was walking and walking when she saw Amy! Amy was in her school. She was Kye's year but Landon knew who she was because Amy was on the basketball team and Landon had fooled around a bit with one of the other girls on the team. Amy was the star player she'd gathered though.
While Landon hadn't seen Amy's teammate recently, since Landon pretty much fooled around with anyone and was never interested in going further than that relationship wise, she still thought it might be fun to talk to the blonde basketball start anyway. After all, Amy seemed nice and Landon was bored.
Landon skipped (yes skipped) over to the bench where Amy sat and plopped down beside her. Amy didn't react so Landon decided to wave her hand in front of the other girl's face. "Aaaaamy....earth to Amy!" she giggled, succeeding in getting the other girls attention. "I don't know if we've officially met. I'm Landon!" the brunette grinned.

It wasn't until a hand was waving in front of her that Amy came back to the present, blinking slowly as her head turned to face the person waving her hand in Amy's face. A smile flitted across her face when she realised that she knew the person. Mostly around school. Amy had seen the gregarious and bubbly younger girl practically bouncing off the school walls.
"Hi...no we haven't. Um...hi Landon." Amy turned her body fully to face Landon, bringing one leg up to the bench to get more comfortable. "I guess you already know my name." Amy chuckled lightly, pushing a lock of hair behind her ear. It was slightly dark where they were sitting but Amy could make out Landon's features fine. The girl was so pretty, Amy felt inadequate in her track pants and t-shirt.
"What are you doing here so late at night?" The blonde asked, sipping a little of her juice.

"Late...is it late?" Landon asked. She searched her wrists for a watch but wasn't wearing one. She then pulled her cell phone out of her cross body hobo bag and looked at the time. Her brown eyes widened. "I suppose it is pretty late for a Sunday," she agreed. "School in the morning....it's likely I'll be late," she said with a shrug of her shoulders. Landon was perpetually late. Even when she was on running on time, she often found some sort of distraction to take her off of the path she was one. She was all over the place like that.
"I just don't want to be home until my brother gets home," she explained. "He's ghost hunting which is funny cause he doesn't believe in ghosts," she said. "I don't know if I believe in ghosts or not...it doesn't seem likely to me but I try to keep an open mind about stuff like that," she explained, as she tossed her cell back into her bag and leaned back onto the bench. She pushed some of her long dark hair behind her ears as she smiled over at Amy.
Landon hardly noticed that the other girl was so dressed down as Landon didn't think she was dressed fancy at all. And while Landon was aware of her own good looks, she also thought that Amy was really pretty. Sometimes Landon thought that she'd like to be a blonde since it was said that they had more fun, but ultimately she'd decided that she had plenty of fun as a brunette and she didn't think the blonde coloring would really suit her anyway.
"What are you doing out here so late?" she asked. "Were you playing basketball...oh wait, you don't have a ball," Landon reasoned. "I tried basketball before but I wasn't very good," she said shrugging her shoulders once more. "I like going to the games though. I've been to a few of the girls' games this year," she commented, smiling once more. Landon had been to the girls' basketball games when she'd been fooling around with one of the girls on the team. While Landon had never really had a crush on a girl before and was pretty sure she was straight in the emotional sense of the word, she liked fooling around with girls sometimes, well really, Landon liked fooling around with everyone. She was quite loose in that sense.

Amy laughed at Landon's blase attitude towards getting to school late. Amy herself had never been late in her life and she owed it to waking up early anyway to her morning practices. "You're not that concerned about school?" The blonde asked with a grin. Amy wasn't too bothered about school. Sure she got good grades and all but what she needed was a basketball scholarship, which didn't come easy at all. Especially not for girls. Guys got them all the time but it takes a lot to convince a scout to go to a girls basketball game and rarely do they come with an open mind so that meant Amy had to bring her A game every single time.
When Landon mentioned a brother, Amy tried to search her brain for anyone she knew who could be related to the bouncy girl beside her. That is until she remembered one of her acquaintances in Health class. Kyler or Kye. He was a Whittemore right? So was Landon. "Kye, right?" Amy queried hesitantly. "Your brother I mean." They've never really interacted but they do say hi on occasion when they happen to sit next to each other in class. "I'm not a big believer in ghosts either really." Amy shrugged. "But yeah, keep an open mind and all,"
Landon's smile brought a shy one from Amy, which wasn't something new anymore to Amy. After hanging out with Kayla this morning, it just didn't seem to be...wrong? She was actually starting to get really comfortable hanging out with girls and Landon didn't seem to mind being stared at. Her question alerted Amy to the conversation they were having. "Oh, right. Well," she scratched the side of her nose as she sipped her juice. "I thought it looked like a perfect night to go out cycling. And so I did. My dad's out of town so, I kind of get a lot of freedom when it comes to leaving the house." She said with a shrug. She no longer felt the need to cover up her life since to her, it wasn't much of a big deal anyway.
"Oh really?" her eyebrows perked up as the girl admitted to have been to a few games. Amy wasn't the type to pay too much attention to anything else but the game so one really couldn't blame the girl for not having realised Landon was actually there watching her play. "You should come up and say hi some time. I kind of tend to zone out about everything else when I'm playing so," Amy shrugged with a grin.

Landon shrugged. "Not really...I mean, even when I try to be in time and all that, I fail, so whatever. Always being on time...you miss out on adventures!" Landon said, throwing her arms up in the air. "Like tonight. I probably should be home, but I'm not and now I ran into you," Landon grinned.
"Yep, Kye's my brother. I don't know if you've ever talked to him or not...he like...shy," she said. "Which is cool. He's still ridiculously awesome," Landon went on. "That's why I didn't go ghost hunting so he could make friends with out me. But don't tell him that cause I don't want to like....make him feel bad," she said wrinkling up her nose. "That's the last think I want to do." Landon cared a lot about her brother a lot. He was really her only family given she was the only one that she could count on...ever.
"Cycling cool," Landon said. "I don't have a bike. I should maybe get one though. I want a beach cruiser," she went on, "that would be fun....hey...where's your bike?" she asked, looking around. She didn't see a bike anywhere. "Did you park it somewhere else?" she asked, still looking around for a bike.
"Yeah, I will next time I go," Landon said. "Basketball is fun to watch. And I think that the girls games are better. They are less crowded and the girls aren't like...really into themselves," Landon giggled. "You know...how the guys are, think they're the greatest thing ever and all that, its like yeah, basketball is an impressive skill and all...but yeah...guys are just weird sometimes. It's like sometimes I just want a break from them," she said with a shrug.

Laughing, Amy wondered how out of it Landon usually is. Amy knew a few guys who really couldn't care less about time and they were usually pretty high when they do the uncaring. Landon didn't seem high. Not the way the guys usually were anyway. She seems to just be floating on a cloud. Like...Luna Lovegood from the Harry Potter series. Amy laughed at her reference even without knowing the potential link to Landon.
"I've talked to him a couple times I think. Nothing major. Just uh...small talk." Amy shrugged. She usually didn't talk in Health class because she was pretty embarrassed to be in the class to even talk. But Landon didn't need to know that little piece of tidbit. "Oh it's okay. I think I can see from your standpoint and his as well so I think you're doing him a huge favor." She smiled softly, jealous of the fact that Landon and Kye had each other to depend on.
"A beach cruiser is pretty funky...wait what?" The smile on her face dropped and the juice in her hand slipped out of her hands and thudded down to the bench without spilling as Amy turned around to find that her bike was indeed gone. "Oh my God!" Amy jumped out of her seat and looked around hurriedly to locate her bicycle. How could she have been so careless? That was the one thing she had actually asked her father for.
She turned to Landon, biting her lower lip. "My bike's gone. Oh my goodness my bike's gone. Do you mind helping me look for it? I'm so sorry for imposing but if I lose that bike, my dad would probably kill me." Amy was freaking out and even though she would have so much preferred to stay and just talk with Landon, her bike was now a number one priority!

Yay! Any liked Kye. Landon liked it when people liked her brother. After all, her brother was totally the coolest, most people just didn't realize that or something. She wasn't really sure why that was. In general Landon was a very open person though. She was welcoming to everyone and talking to everyone regardless of any stereotypes that most people had. And if she knew Amy had compared her to Luna Lovegood she'd be quite pleased as Luna was clearly one of the coolest characters...now if only nargles were real...
Landon made a face as the pretty blonde realized that her bike indeed was not in site and that it was supposed to be. "Oh no!" she said. She stood up and stepped onto the bench to give herself more height so she could see farther out. "I don't see anything," she said, looking around and turning about as she did so, her hand resting just above her eyes as if she was some sort of look out.
"We will find it," Landon assured her. "Let's go look!" Landon suggested. She jumped down off the bench and ran off to go look. Only Landon being Landon totally got distracted. She'd stopped to ask a couple if they'd seen a bicycle and they'd asked her what it looked like. She didn't know so instead got into a conversation with the female part of the couple about how cool a floral bike would look and how it would be much more exciting it would be to ride. Eventually her male counterpart dragged her away and Landon made a face as she realized she hadn't done a very good job.
Locating the blonde Landon ran over to her. "Sorry...no one has seen a bike. What did it look like anyway? Did it have flowers on it?" she asked, laughing at the silliness of the question and then going into the whole story about how that question came about. After her recanting her story, Landon frowned. "I'm sorry if your bike is lost though. I came here on foot. Would you like me to walk you home?" she asked.

Despite the panic Amy was in, she couldn't help but feel a little better when Landon came back recounting the story behind the floral bike comment. Amy hadn't found her bike anywhere either. She cursed under her breath. It was sweet of Landon to offer walking her home but it wasn't the travel that was making Amy sweat. She can walk herself home fine. But that bike was a close second to her basketball, which was signed by Michael Jordan when she went to her very first game.
Smiling at her newfound friends, Amy shook her head. "It's alright. I kind of live on the other side of this place." Amy shrugged. "But thanks anyway." She sighed and dropped down on the bench, cupping her chin in her hand. "Damn," Amy said softly. "I liked that bike."
Amy decided to try to look for it again, pulling Landon with her. Landon was filled in on the bike's description; which wasn't much, considering Amy's descriptive skills were kind of non-existent, and even then they couldn't find the bike. How could it just have disappeared though? It's a freaking bicycle!
When she finally gave up and went back to the bench, she was still unconsciously holding on to Landon's hand as the other hand scratched the back of her neck. "It's getting pretty late, maybe you should go home? I'm sorry I kept you up."

"Oh okay," Landon said. She didn't really want to go home yet so she figured walking back with Amy would give her something to do. But perhaps Amy was right. Perhaps she'd be fine and Landon probably should be heading back anyway. But it seemed that Amy still wanted to look for the bike. In fact, she even grabbed Landon's hand to get her to help and keep her on track as they looked.
Landon did her best to help all the while holding hands with the other girl. It was something that many girls probably wouldn't feel comfortable with but there were few things that made Landon uncomfortable and holding hands wasn't one of them. Asking her out on a date or to be someone's girlfriend...that made her on comfortable... But holding hands, kissing, sex...any physical stuff she was fine with. In fact, she wondered if maybe that's what Amy was doing by holding her hand. Did she like these sort of physical interactions too?
Really, to anyone on the outside, Landon probably looked like a total slut the way she acted but she didn't really see it that way. She saw it as having fun with lots of different people and having fun and getting to know lots of different people were two of Landon's favorite things. She really had a bit of a hippy mentality but she didn't really think of it that way either. In fact, Landon didn't think about it at all. She just did what she wanted when she wanted really, only she didn't come off as a brat since she was so spacey and nice about it all. It really was an odd thing, but thus was Landon.
Landon continued holding Amy's hand as they reached the bench again. "Oh...its alright. I don't really want to go home," Landon admitted. "And I know it sucks you lost your bike...but perhaps it was an okay thing. I mean...I had fun hanging out for a bit," she said with a smile, certain that she and the blonde basketball player were having a moment. She squeezed the other girls hand before leaning in and planting a kiss on her lips.
Pulling away she smiled once more at the other girl who looked quite bewildered. "I'm sorry," she said, "I thought we had a moment. It's...okay if you don't want to do anything..."
