Raven had been getting hungry and sick at all hours of the day. What ever happened to morning sickness being just in the morning. It should be called baby sickness. Raven had been informed it might get worse seeing as she was only a little over two months along. Which was not fun at all. Raven had stupid saltine crackers she carried around with her. Damn Isaiah packed them in her bag every morning. Sure she actually enjoyed it, but still.
Raven was waiting for lunch. She was starving. The crackers had not lasted at all. Now she was hungry again. She did not even want to think what the cafeteria was serving for lunch, so she would stick to the sandwich, chips and apple she had in her bookbag which was in her locker. She was so thankful when the bell rang that she grabbed her things and darted for her locker. She opened it quickly and put her books inside the locker and opened her book bag with a smile.
That smile soon turned into a frown. No brown bag, no lunch, not even the gatarade she had packed was in there. Either this was a sick joke or she had left it on the counter at the house. Great. Just great. Raven pushed her book bag into her locker and closed it. She did not want to eat in the cafeteria but it was pouring outside. Still. She could get in her car and drive somewhere. Or suck it up.
Raven started to walk down the hall when she began to feel dizzy. Her body swayed a little as she used the lockers to hold herself up. "I feel dizzy." Was all she managed to say before she fainted. She was not sick, no fever, just hungry, tired and had no energy and her body needed food at the moment. Raven came too, looking up at someone who was checking to make sure she was okay. Of course Raven being the person she was could not just say thank you first. "What you haven't seen someone faint before...mind helping me up."

Evan loved lunch. He enjoyed all his meals, but he especially loved lunch, as it was during school and so gave him something to look forward to during those really crappy classes. Though the same could be said for morning tea and afternoon tea, he liked those a lot too. But they were technically snacks, not meals, he decided, so lunch was his favourite meal. And it arrived in perfect time, he was just about to fall asleep when the bell rang. It really wasn’t his fault that the classes were so boring. If he was in charge, he would make them about more important stuff, stuff kids actually needed to know. Like what movies were good, and how to make yummy snacks. He was also starving too, so the moment the bell sounded, he was out of his seat and out the door. All that talk of cookies and cupcakes and candy earlier was making him hungry. Well, more hungry than he usually was.
He decided to drop his bag off at his locker first, he didn’t think he’d need to raid for snacks during lunch. Not when he was planning on consuming everything the cafeteria had to offer. He just hoped it was edible. If it wasn’t, he’d still eat it anyway, as not to hurt the cafeteria ladies feelings, but he wouldn’t enjoy it. As much.
It was on his way to his locker that he heard a girl speak from behind him, something about her being dizzy. Then just as he turned to see what was up, the girl went down. Now, he had absolutely no idea what was wrong, but no one else did either it seemed. He was the only one who made a move for her, and leaned over the girl, a Silver girl he kind of recognised but never spoke to cause she looked kind of bitchy.
Evan was just trying to work out what to do, wondering if he’d be able to lift and then carry her to the nurses offices, as her eyes opened. He grinned brightly down at her, glad she was awake. Because he really wasn’t sure if he’d be able to carry her. “Hey.” he greeted, frowning slightly in thought at her question. “Well, I think maybe once before, when I was younger. But I’ve seen more people get knocked unconscious. And that’s also happened a lot to me too. Oh!” he realised, leaning down and offering her a hand to help her up. He then looked at her cautiously, as though she could faint again any moment now. “Um, are you okay? Maybe you should sit down for a while. Can I get you a water or something?”

Raven tried to make out the ramblings he was saying, and she made out enough to know he fainted before. Or so she thought. Either way it did not matter, all Raven wanted help with was getting off this nasty, germ filled floor. So gross. She took his hand as he helped her up. The first thing she did was brush herself off. Yuck. Now she needed a shower so badly cause she had been on the floor. Normally Raven enjoyed laying down on the floor, but a carpeted one and usually on a sleeping bag, not on tile in school...gross.
"I will be fine, i just forgot my lunch and have no snacks for the day. Apparently you need food to make it through the day awake." She commented. She did not want to go to the nurse. The nurse would call her dad, which would do shit, then call Isaiah's mother which was worse. So no nurse was much better. "Sitting down would be good. I was hoping to avoid the school lunch, but if one must eat, then one cannot be picky. Damn down pour or else I would leave campus." Rave said looking outside. This sucked.
She looked at Evan, "Um..thanks...for helping." She said trying to be mean about but at the moment she did not have a bitchy bone in her body cause she was too tired and hungry to focus on how to put the guy down, "Raven." She said holding out her hand."

Forgetting your lunch was one thing, especially if it was a yummy lunch, that would suck. But not having snacks either? Well, that was almost Evan’s idea of hell. Or at least, one level of hell. Because hell had to be a big place. Millions and millions of people have died he figured, at least, and even if only one percent of them went to hell, that was still like...a really big number of people ending up there. So there had to be lots of levels, maybe some levels that were for not so bad people, like people who shoplift or like Miley Cryus, and really bad levels for the really evil people, like murderers and people who talk at the movies.
“Well, you don’t need food, just lots of caffeine, but food is really good to. It’s yummy.” Evan pointed out when he finally managed to drag his thoughts back on track. Something he’d been doing a lot of lately. Then she mentioned she wanted to sit down, like he suggested. People didn’t do what he suggested often, which was quite reasonable in most cases, but in this situation it was actually a good thing.
So he tried to be sensible for a little bit longer, something that he found a little on the tricky side, glancing around somewhere for them to sit. Then she distracted him by holding out her hand to him, and he stared at it for just a moment, as if wondering what he was supposed to do. He didn’t shake hands often. Then his expression changed from slight confusion to great enthusiasm, and with a grin he took her hand and shook it, very gently. “Nice to meet you Raven, I’m Evan!”
“Come on, let’s sit down then.” he suggested again, leading her towards a nearby open classroom because there were chairs in it. It was logical thinking for him. He flopped down in a chair, going through the bag he hadn’t yet had the chance to put away. “Well, it’s not exactly lunch, but it’s food, and it’s really, really good.” Evan held out a chocolate bar to Raven. “Are you sure you’re okay? You look kinda pale. Maybe you shouldn’t eat chocolate if you’re sick.”

Raven sat down in the chair at the desk and took the offered Baby Ruth. "Thanks." She opened it and took a bit. She swallowed before she spoke. "Believe me I am not sick. I wish I was sick...I am worse then sick...I am going to be like this for the next seven or six months." Raven said. This must be a baby thing. She was never this hungry before. Usually she was not this forgetful either.
"Are you always a walking candy store?" She asked motioning to all the candy wrappers that appeared in his bag, "You give new meaning to the phrase kid in a candy store." Raven snorted. She actually found it really funny, that she ran into a kid with a bag full of candy. It was her sense of humor anyway. it could be a bit weird. "Yeah I was absent minded this morning or else I would have snacks and a lunch."
Raven took another bite. "I blame school, this place always makes me want to forget..." She would forget to come to school if she wasn't graduating this year. A few short months and she would be out for good, with a collage acceptance and on her way. Only she was pregnant. That could be a problem. Well she would deal with that when she got there.
"Did you give me your name....cause I can't remember. If not then I might have to call you the candy kid" It might not be original, but Raven thought it had a nice ring to it. Like the Ice cream man. Raven could call out for the candy kid.

Evan could be smart. Sometimes. About certain things. Like his spelling might not be the greatest, but his grades in most classes were actually pretty good. And he could spend hours discussing what a director was trying to get across in a certain scene, or why a particular camera angle worked better than another one would in a movie. But Raven’s comment went completely over his head and he stared at her for a few moments, trying to work out if there was something he missed. What she actually meant didn’t even enter his mind. Though he had an awesome girlfriend and a mum he was really close to, women stuff was still something he was largely clueless about.
“Worse than sick? Seven months? That’s like a really long time.” he decided, saying this out loud in an attempt to stall and hopefully figure it out. But he wasn’t successful and his curiosity did get the better of him, so he figured he’d just come out and ask her. She couldn’t think he was stupid for asking, because it really was confusing, at least he thought it was. But even if she did think that, he really wouldn’t mind. He didn’t really care about what other people thought of him. Unless it was really nice things, then he liked that. “Sorry, but if you’re not sick, then what’s....well, is something wrong with you? How do you know it’s going to last that long?”
“Pretty much.” Evan agreed with a laugh, nodding enthusiastically as he watched her stare at his bag. “You think that’s bad, you should check my pockets sometime. Or maybe not, it’s probably not a good idea to put your hands in my pocket, you don’t know what you’d find. It could be dangerous.” he teased. “Though I do find pretty cool stuff in my pockets too sometimes. And not just wrappers. Like, yesterday, I found a Butterfingers in my jacket pocket I didn’t know was there. And it was still really good.”
The mention of a candy store made Evan feel like going to a candy store now. He might have to go to one after school and stock up again. Now that he was thinking about it, he was getting low on his supply that he kept in his room. There’s was probably only a dozen bars and bags of goodies left. That go could by Sunday, he’d really have to get more. Only once had he ever run out completely, and the memory of that still made him shudder. He’d never let it happen again, not if he could help it. “You should see me in an actually candy store. They love me in those kinda places! I reckon I even help keep some of them in business. Well, if you ever get absent minded again, you could come look for me. I always have snacks.”
“School does suck. If I didn’t have to go, I totally wouldn’t. Well, maybe I’d come for lunch. I actually kinda like the food they serve here.” he admitted with a grin, fairly sure he was the only person he did. “But it’s not so bad. There’s some cool people here. And I get to draw and catch up on sleep in class sometimes. So that’s good.”
He didn’t mind in the slightest that Raven had already forgotten his name, and that he’d even said it in the first place. She just explained that she was absent minded after all. “It’s Evan.” he gleefully reminded her, taking to the nickname immediately. “But you can call me candy kid too, I’d respond to that.” Evan decided. It was kind of catchy, and it did sum him up pretty well. “Speaking of candy, you want more? I’ve got plenty.”

Raven looked at him. She was not surprised he didn't connect the dots. She had been a tad bit cryptic about it. Still when he asked she gave him a mock glare as if she was pissed about the question, mostly cause she was surprised he had not heard about it. The whole school supposedly knew. Isaiah had not only announced it, but he had proposed in front of most of the schools biggest gossips. Not that she cared it had been sort of sweet actually.
"I am pregnant. Two months, seven lovely yucky months left to go." Raven said in her typical, 'I don't give a shit' tone. She sighed as she continued to eat the candy bar, "So I get to stick with sickness and more dizzy feelings...so I know I am not contagious or sick at all. I wish that was the case." Not that she really wished it, but Raven still had not fully decided to let her happy face show around strangers. Only Isaiah could see she was happy.
"Don't worry, I leave the sticking hands in your pocket to that girl you were macking on this morning. I am sure she would get more of a thrill out of it." Raven commented as she took a bit. "Besides I am sure my fiance would love my hands strictly for his pockets." Raven said. She knew Isaiah to be a bit jealous, but its not like Evan was serious about her and his pockets. He did not seem like a serious kind of guy which was nice for once.
"Thanks for the offer. I might take you up on that one day. You never know when i might crave a snack." You could not tell if she was serious or not just from her tone, but talking about him being in a candy store actually made Raven crack a smile. It was kind of hard to act all pissed and mad around Evan, he was like this naturally nice guy and it was hard being mean to such a nice guy. Oh god, she was going soft. Where was Sloane when she needed her. She needed her friend to knock Raven's inner bitch back into her.
"Okay Evan...Do you have a Kit Kat or Nestles Crunch?" Raven asked. "Those are my favorites. I use to only eat those for Halloween. Well I ate them first and then would complain when I ran out." She remembered. "So besides being the Candy kid what else do you do?"

Raven was pregnant? Well, it might make him daft, but Evan did not see that one coming. She was really young, like his age. It was like Brittany getting pregnant, the thought of which totally freaked him out. Not that he was completely against having kids with Brittany, they were both too young and it was too soon to even think about anything that serious, but if he was to have a kid, having one with Brit would be pretty cool, he had to admit. And though he didn’t want any for a very, very long time, till he wasn’t one himself, but he thought he might like having some kids, some mini Evans’ running around. It would be mad fun, watching all his favourite Disney movies with them, showing them which candy was the best, teaching them how to jump off the roof into a pool safely. But again, not for a very long time.
So as such, he really had no idea what he was supposed to say to her about it. Like, it was supposed to be good news, right? But she didn’t seem really happy with the idea of being pregnant, so maybe she’d get annoyed if he acted like it was a great thing. Then again, if he didn’t act like it was great, would she get annoyed then? He hadn’t said a single thing yet and he was already confused. Women were so complicated. In the end, he decided to go with what he hoped was the safer option. “Congratulations! That’s really good! Right? Hey, just think, seven months and it’ll be over with.” And then she’d have a crying baby to deal with.
“Girl...oh, you mean Brit! She’s my girlfriend.” Evan told her, the grin on his face even bigger than when he had been talking about candy. “You’d think so, but no.” he chuckled. “She thinks it’s funny what’s in my pockets, but she definitely wouldn’t risk her hands. So you saw her? She’s really beautiful, right? And she’s in this band, the best band ever. Well, at least in town. They’re called The Rioters. She’s the singer. They have awesome songs. We own a couple of snakes together. I think it’s really cool that she wanted them, cause a lot of girls wouldn’t. But she’s not like other girls, which I like. And am I talking too much? I think I am. Ok, I’ll tell you more about her later, I don’t want you bored just yet.” he laughed. “And congrats on being engaged too! That’s really cool.” Wow, a lot really was happening to the girl, he thought. Stuff that he wouldn’t want happening to him for about another ten or so years.
“No Kit Kat. I might have a Crunch bar somewhere...I think I bought one like a week ago, but I can’t remember if I ate it. I’m pretty sure I didn’t, I think I’d remember if I did. Hang on, lemme check.” He went through his bag, glancing up briefly to flash another big grin at Raven at the mention of Halloween. “I love Halloween! And I was never fussed. As long as I got plenty of candy, I was happy. Well, I still am. I still love trick or treating. You get candy, and get to dressed up in cool costumes, dunno who wouldn’t love it.”
And then...”Viola! One Crunch for you! I knew I didn’t eat it!” He handed it over, happy that he had what she wanted, as well as a packet of M&Ms for himself. “Well, candy does take up a lot of my time.” he teased. “But besides that...well, there’s macking on my girl. I love movies, like, a lot, so I spend a lot of time watching them. I like playing with my snakes. I mean, my actual snakes, I’m not trying to be weird.” Evan smirked. “I play the drums, they’re noisy, I like that about them. And I hang out with my friends a lot. I’ve got awesome friends. Like my best mate, Patch. He’s really fun to hang out with, he likes cool music so he gets me onto new stuff, and he’s mad at soccer. What about you? And feel free to talk a lot, cause you probably need a break from me talking.” he laughed.

Raven looked at him as he said congrats...it was just seven months. "I guess congratulations is one way to look at it. The father is certainly excited enough for the both of us." Raven commented. Only it wasn't the fact she was having a kid that was really the reason she seemed less then enthusiastic. It should be. But it wasn't. It more had to do with mommy issues. "At least I get free baby sitting with his parents." She said with a wicked grin as Evan went on talking about his girlfriend.
"Thanks..and congrats on having the girl from the best band in town, can't say I have ever heard them play.' Raven said with a smile, mostly cause she didn't want to say the Rioters sounded like a band whose music she would not enjoy. It was nothing against the band but she was a big fan of loud music. Then again she had yet to hear them so she could be jumping to conclusions. Who knows. "You and Brit sound like a good couple...thats really good." She said to him. "As for being bored...trust me..I can act entertained." She said as she took another bite.
"I like Halloween more for the scaring. haunted house, screaming people...nothing better then watching people get scared by something they claim they are not scared of." Raven commented and took the Crunch bar. "Thanks again for sharing. I will repay you or something..." She was just hungry and needed food and this was her best bet. maybe she could fake something and go home. But then her future mother in law would have to come get her and that was not a car ride she might be willing to risk.
"You like playing with what..." She asked at the snake comment, "Oh good, for a moment I thought that was some weird sexual reference. But you said you have two snakes with your girlfriend...right." Raven let him continue on. "Feel free to talk all you like...I am not much of a talker." She admitted. "But since you asked about me...there is not much to say...I am pregnant and engaged. Another teenage statistic and I can say I hate it, and complain...but in reality I am actually thrilled cause this life promises to be better then my other life." Raven started.
"But I am sure you don't care to hear about that. So what do I enjoy...i like being evil and messing with my fiance. Its rather fun...but other then that I read, hang out with my friend Sloane. Friends are a dime a dozen. So its good you have some good ones. " Raven meant that too. "I also enjoy swimming and believe it or not I watch cartoons still. But tell anyone that and you will pay."

“Well, that’s real good then. That he’s excited.” Evan pointed out, just in case he wasn’t clear. That was a big problem of his, he knew. At least, in terms of making sense to other people. Probably for good reason to, he figured, he knew he had a tendency to ramble on a bit, actually, a lot and jump to wild tangents and completely different topics rather easily. He’d always made sense to himself though. And his mum too, she got it. Like Patch, though his friend was just as good (or was it bad?) as him sometimes on going off on completely different subjects, something Evan really appreciated. Brit was getting really good to at understand what he was going on about most of the time. Which made her all the more awesome in his book. If he had a book, which he didn’t, at least, whatever book that saying meant. He was fairly sure it didn’t mean a graphic novel. Cause that’ll be silly, Brit wasn’t in any of those, though it would be totally cool if she was. It really was a stupid saying.
His thoughts went off on such a tangent then that it took him a few seconds to remember what he was saying. “Yeah, it’s good, you know, cause not all guys our age would be excited. He is our age, right? Like he goes to the school?” It only just occurred to him now that it could be someone much older, like, someone in their twenties, or even more ancient than that. And if that was the case, he hoped that his assumption otherwise wasn’t insulting or anything like that. “But yay, free babysitting! Free stuff is cool! What, don’t your parents want to babysit? And I could babysit one time, if you want.” This offer came with a grin so wide it made it fairly obvious that it may not be the smartest idea ever.
“Thanks! You should totally come to one of their gigs! They have a regular one at the bowling alley, I go whenever I can. It’s awesome! It’ll be real fun, I promise.” His idea of fun included a lot of things most people wouldn’t call fun, not that he understood this. People just didn’t know what they were missing out on. Coming in second place on fun stuff to do at the alley, after watching the band and perving on his girl (though he didn’t think Raven was likely to get up to the second part) was human bowling. He wouldn’t suggest that though, he figured that was probably not a good thing for a pregnant girl to do. Maybe after she had the baby.
“We’re a great couple! I mean, I think we are. She makes me pretty happy. And I reckon I make her happy. Cause if I didn’t, she wouldn’t date me. Cause she really is awesome, and hot, so that means she could date anyone she wanted. There’s this one guy I know who I’m pretty sure likes her, but it’s okay, cause she doesn’t like him, she likes me, well, loves me, so that’s why she’s with me.” Evan grinned, before laughing. “So, yep, great couple. And thanks for acting entertained! You’re real good, I can’t tell if you’re acting now or not!” he teased.
He laughed at why she loved Halloween and he had to agree, she was onto something there. “Yeah, I love that about Halloween too! Everything about it is great! It’s my second favourite holiday, after Christmas. The only thing I don’t like about it is people dressing up as clowns. It’s a stupid, stupid costume idea.” he laughed, pretending to look scared. He shook his head adamantly at the mention of paying him back for the chocolatey treat. “Nah, don’t even think about it. Always happy to share with friends.” To Evan, he could talk to anyone for two minutes and already think of them as his friend.
“Yep, actually snakes.” he laughed. “Yeah, I’m not much of a talker either. Though you’ve probably already noticed that.” he told her in all seriousness. “I enjoy my quiet time. Like, for private reflection, you know.” He had to laugh at this last bit though. The idea of him having private reflection was just too funny for him not to laugh. He did eventually get a little bit serious though. “Well, I’m glad for you then. Hope things really work out good for you and all.”
“Being evil? Like fun evil, or real evil? Cause if it’s real evil, here, take all the candy bars you want. Just let me be!” he laughed. “And messing with your fiancé? Sounds fun. I like messing with people. Though I get in trouble for it sometimes, but it’s usually worth it. I love pranks!” Just talking about it made him want to pull another one as soon as possible, and he already had the perfect two victims already lined up. He’d have to drag Patch in on the action too, his friend was the one who was hurt most by the car prank, as he saw it.
“Sloane...no, I’ve never met her before. She sounds like she must be a real good friend of yours though, cool.” Evan was being truthful, he didn’t know Sloane. But he did know of her. She was friends with other real popular people, like Bree and Tyler. And she seemed kinda scary. Not that he’d tell Raven that. “Yeah, I have lots of good friends. I’m real lucky.” he told her proudly.
He stared for just a moment at the mention of cartoons. He never would have figured her to be a watcher of them. Next thing would be he’d find out that Tyler liked playing Dungeons And Dragons in his free time. He’d have to ask Silver if she knew anything about that, just in case. Cause that would be pretty funny. Eventually though, the staring stopped and the laughter began.
Wiping the tears from his eyes, he shook his head. “Don’t worry, your secret is safe with me.” Evan promised. “I mean, for one, I love cartoons. I think I’ve got practically every Disney movie ever released on DVD. And I even have some videos of them too. Plus, I’m a massive Spongebob fan. So don’t worry, we’ll can keep each other’s secret now.” he assured her.
“And swimming huh? I like swimming. Well, I like diving. Actually, I like doing bombs. I can’t really do a proper dive. Actually, maybe I could, I’ve just never tried. I just really like doing bombs.” he grinned. All too quickly his candy bar was gone and he started rummaging through his bag for more. “Want anything else? I think the bell’s gonna go soon. Maybe you have it for your next class? Like, just hold onto it, in case you get hungry. Eating for two and all, isn’t it? Maybe your baby just really likes candy.”
