Day One and no accident so far. Silver might actually have a chance of going one full day with out being a klutz. That would be a first. Her mother was so graceful and Silver was far from it. She and her mother were complete opposites in that sense. Her mother could walk, or gliding is what she called it, across a room. Silver would trip..a lot from one side to the other. But she had done it. So far so good. It was lunch time. An hour of Silver sitting down, seemed simple enough. She had learned to avoid the cafeteria because it was too easy for her to be a target for someone. She had looked around for Anderson wondering where he was. She was hoping they could hang out after school or Friday after school.
Silver found a quiet spot outside by a tree. She sat down on a patch of grass that seemed to be void of anything creepy and crawly. She pulled out he paper bag lunch and opened a book. She ate her sandwich first. This is how Silver's lunch went a lot. Unless Anderson was around and they got into a huge discussion of Dungeons and Dragons. Other then that Silver was use to eating alone. She actually did not mind it. She got some reading done and any homework for her morning classes. Sure it was not the most exciting lunch, but what could she do. Silver was as shy as they come so inviting someone to join her was never gonna happen.
Silver got lost in her book. She would occasionally look up, but mostly she read and ate in peace. It was a nice day so she did not mind. So far so good. No one around to cause an accident and she was not walking, so the school was safe from her fumbling self. That was until a shadow was casted over her book. Silver froze a moment. who would be coming over to her. She had not expected to see anyone except maybe Anderson, but to know who it was she had to look up. So Silver slowly looked up. "Hello." She said looking at the person who stood in front of her.

Today had so far been far from fun for Evan. Coming across Hannah that morning, and leaving her looking like she was about to cry, wasn’t exactly the ideal way to start the day. She really was cool, if you ignored the whole cheerleader issue, but he’d much rather have his cool girlfriend than a cool friend, so he supposed he couldn’t do anything about it without risking hurting Brit again. Still, the whole thing did leave him spending the whole morning feeling both bad and guilty, two things he really didn’t like feeling. Anything not good and fun weren’t things he liked. It put him in a bad mood to begin with. And the classes he had for that morning didn’t help. He actually had to do work. In class. It was ridiculous. Plus he was given homework that he knew was going to take him all night, and that was his free time! So, by the time lunch came, he wasn’t his usual cheery self. The promise of food did help cheer him up though. Food always did.
It was a nice day out, and despite the bad luck he had last time he was outside, he figured he’d give it another shot, give the day a chance to redeem itself. He headed into the cafeteria first to get one of the three most important meals of the day. He just didn’t know what this meal was. It had chicken in it, at least, it looked like chicken. And rice. He figured maybe it was some sort of take on butter chicken. But it smelled alright, and he wasn’t one to discriminate against food. So that and a bottle of Coke (he took to buying that instead of Fanta in case Brit shared lunch with him) joined him outside.
He glanced around briefly for any of his friends, but figured that they’d hopefully come find him. He either ate in the cafeteria or near his favourite tree (which was still his favourite after the morning, it wasn’t the tree’s fault) so they knew where to find him.
But at least he wouldn’t have to eat by himself, Evan realised, spotting someone already at his spot. He grinned when he got closer, realising who it was. Silver was eating lunch by herself too, with books. No one should have to go through that. He liked the girl, she seemed kind of shy, but he was pretty much the opposite of that so he thought a lot of people seemed shy. “Hey, this is my fave spot!” he teased, dropping to the ground. “But I suppose, for you, I can share. If you slowly put the books down and step away. How’re ya going?”

Silver had to blink a few times as she watched Evan just sit right down beside her. Was he kidding...did he really want her to move if she did not put the books down. Silver looked at her books and then back at Evan. She put them to the side. She did not want to move even if he was kidding or not...so to be on the safe side she would listen. "Would you believe me if I said it was a good book?" Silver offered with a crooked smile.
This is where her shyness was more of a curse. This is how she lost people or friends, she was always shy around them. There was only so much stuttering, stumbling and rambling a person could take before they decided Silver was not worth listening too, but she was not use to having random people talk to her. Not that Evan was random. She had spoken to him a few days ago. Plus he was in a few of her classes.
"Your favorite tree. I just like it cause it casts the biggest shadow so I stay out of the sun. Not that I have to stay out of the sun, but I just don't like the sun." Somehow that did now sound right either but Silver smiled anyway. "Its a lovely day to be outside for lunch, I am actually happy for the company." Silver was trying to be more open with talking. It was not easy. "How...how are you...doing and stuff?"
She was about to say I did not expect you to remember me, but Silver was slowly, very slowly realizing she might not be as invisible as she thought. Which was actually a nice feeling. Finally. So instead she kept her mouth shut. "I have som...some candy if you...you want some." She offered. She remembered he liked candy. Or at least she hoped she had the right person. Oh it would be embarrassing if he hated candy and she just offered him some.

“Well...” Evan spoke slowly, acting more than a little suspicious at this claim, leaning over just a little where he sat to look at the book Silver was, “It doesn’t look like there’s lots of pretty pictures in it. Does it have any? Cause if there’s no pretty pictures, I don’t know how it could be a good book.” he continued to tease, narrowing his eyes at the girl. “I know, I bet you’re one of those smart people. You know, who likes to read books that have words and not pictures. You sicken me.” This was more than enough for him and he burst into laughter, flopping onto his back. He might as well get comfortable. “Not really, only kidding.” he quickly pointed out, knowing that people who didn’t know him all too well didn’t automatically get his sense of humour at first, and he didn’t want to offend her. “You’re cool. Well, not as cool as me, but no one is, so don’t beat yourself up about it.” He nodded in agreement about what she had to say about his tree. Well, it wasn’t his tree, but that was only a minor detail. “You don’t? I love the sun. And I love the shade. And I love it when it’s rainy. I guess I’m easy to please.” he realised, grinning at this. Nothing wrong with that. “Yeah, I like having lunch outside whenever I can. And I’m happy to be company, and happy that you’re happy to have me as company, ya know?” Evan grinned again, rolling himself over onto his side to make it easier to see Silver. “Well, whenever you want company at other lunch times, I’m often here. Sometimes with some other friends too, but I dunno where they are now.” he mused, giving a quick glance before turning his attention back to the girl. “You’ll like them, they’re mad. I’ll introduce you if they realise how much they miss me and come looking before the end of lunch.” “You know me...well, you don’t, not that well yet, but you will!” he promised her cheerily, again changing his mind about his position and sitting up once more. He was had trouble sitting still, that much was obvious. “I’m all good, usually am. The mouth long locker room cleanup starts soon, which is totally unfair cause we were framed, I tell ya, it’s a conspiracy!” Evan laughed, happy about leaving it at that, not feeling like going into all the particulars again, it was one of the few things that could leave him feeling down. The morning’s incident was another, so he didn’t bring it up either. “But school is half over with for the day and Brit and I have a date afterwards, so it’s all good.” The date wasn’t so much a date as it was a plan to get some revenge on Aly. He’d made sure he had plenty of pinkies for them to use. He wasn’t going to say that either. “How bout you?”
“Candy?” This was more than enough to ensure his complete attention, and he beamed brightly at Silver, bouncing around where he sat. “I love me some candy. You better keep some of it hidden though, cause I have this thing with candy, you see, where I kinda have to eat it all. I can’t help it, it’s like an addiction.” he teased. “Thanks Silver! What kinda candy you got?” Yep, he was easy to please for sure.

The word cool and Silver had never been used in the same sentence let alone that being one of the main words used to describe her. However, it was nice to hear. She started laughing along with him. laughing was contagious and once one person did it was not hard to follow, "You have a point, books without pictures can be boring...even some with pictures can be boring..." She admitted, but Silver loved to read so boring was okay with her. Either way Evan was right, putting down the book did need to be done.
"I like the sound of the rain. Not thunder, but rain and lighting are very pretty." She would look out her window and stare during a thunderstorm at times. She liked it. Thunder she did not care for but the way lighting lit up the sky and the sound of the rain...it was so musical to Silver. "I cannot be out in the rain, but I like to watch it fall." She told him. Being out in the rain was more for medical purposes, but for the sake of conversation she just made it sound like she did not enjoy getting wet.
"Tell me about your friends. i would like to meet them." A bold move for Silver cause meeting new people for her...was not always a good thing. She was shy so why did she just agree to meet more people. Crowds of people made Silver antsy. However, since he could not find her friends, maybe she lucked out. Although she was serious about meeting them, she was just nervous and shy about it. Maybe it was finally happening and Silver was expanding her group of friends.
"I have a best friend you should meet. Anderson...he is a good guy, you would like him." Silver said blushing at saying Anderson's name. Which reminded her she should text him and see what he had been up to. "I am good...I am sorry you were framed...I didn't even hear about it." Silver lived in a bubble. She had totally missed the whole Principles car on the roof incident. "I am good, happy the day is almost over like you pointed out." Although Silver liked school, but some how she did not think saying that was the right thing to do.
She smirked at he obvious happiness to have candy. So she was right. Good. Silver opened her book bag. "I have butterfingers, Nestle's Crunch, and Milk way's." she handed him the baggy filled with candy. "Brain food." She commented.

“Yep!” Evan nodded enthusiastically, having forgotten about lightning and thunder. “Lightning looks awesome! And I love thunder! I like lying outside on the grass when it’s raining, and there’s lightning and thunder. Sometimes too when it’s hailing. Only when it’s little hail though, the last time I tried it when it was big hail, one landed on my forehead and cut me. It didn’t hurt so bad, but my mum got angry and told me not to do it again. She worries about me.” he grinned. “Cause I sometimes do stupid stuff. But I usually don’t get hurt. I don’t know why, I probably should get hurt more with that stuff I do. Guess I must be lucky.” he laughed. “Uh...what was I talking about again? Oh yeah! I love lying out in the rain! I like getting all wet. It’s fun!” He could find the fun in pretty much everything. He was just really easy to entertain.
“My friends...okay!” he nodded, rocking slightly back and forth where he was sitting. “Well, there’s Brit, my girlfriend. She’s really a cool chick.” Evan grinned proudly. He should be, he figured. He really thought that Brit was the most beautiful, funny, cool, all round awesome girl in both schools. And that she was his girlfriend made it even better. “She’s in a band, called The Rioters. They’re really good. And I’m not saying that cause I’m dating the singer. Though, that doesn’t hurt. We own two snakes together. We have to keep them at my house, cause her mum and evil step-sister would freak out about it or something. It’s alright though, they’re really cool, albino snakes. Um...what else. Oh yeah, she’s got a pizza named after her. It’s really yummy, has all the toppings, except the yucky stuff.”
“Then there’s Patch. He’s my best mate. He’s really cool too!” Evan enthused, thinking that a lot of his friends were cool. To varying degrees of course, but Patch was certainly right there at the top. “He’s got really sweet taste in music, he’s always getting me onto new bands. He plays soccer, well, not at the moment cause he was unfair suspended from the team, but I reckon he’ll get back to playing soon, hopefully. He’ll have to, I mean, he’s great at it! I think so anyway, and I don’t know much about soccer, so if I can tell he’s good, it must mean that he is. Me and him do cool things together, pranks and stuff, it’s really fun.”
He was perfectly in his element here, talking and being the centre of attention (which wasn’t surprising in this case as there were only two of them here and Silver was shy), so he continued. “Then there’s Mal. She’s pretty mad. Her and Patch tease each other all the time, especially about music. She’s real good with a video camera, so she sometimes records pranks for us. And she records videos for the Rioters. She’s dating one of the guys in the band, JJ. Zac and Ian, they’re brothers, they’re in the band as well. Ian’s the one who gave me both black eyes. You can barely see ‘em now.” he pointed out. “But it’s all good, things are ok with us.”
“Who else....well, there’s Dare. He’s like a real good musician, takes after his dad, I reckon. He’s really nice, and he gives me lots of candy too, plus he’s fun to hang around. You’ve probably seen him, he’s got the real long hair, hard to miss. He’s dating another friend, Mike. Mike’s pretty cool too, I think Dare’s good for him. Then there’s Takumi. He’s pretty funny. Cause English isn’t his first language, sometimes I confuse him. But it’s funny. There’s heaps more, but I’ll leave it at this for now, so you don’t get confused too and all.”
Evan finally took the chance to breathe then, if only very briefly. “Anderson? Cool name. Yeah, don’t know him. But sure, would love ta meet him. If you reckon he’s good, he must be. I mean, you’re talking to me, so you clearly have great taste.” he teased. His eyes narrowed once more though as soon as he said this, at her apology. “Why you saying sorry? Did you have something to do with it? You did! You framed me! Why I oughta...” As was the norm for half the things he said, this was followed by his own laughter. “Nah, it’s all good. Me and my friends will fix it, I reckon, come up with a plan. We’re too smart not to.” He was a little surprised that this was the first Silver was hearing of it though. He figured everyone would have by now.
Gingerly taking the book bag Silver offered him, he practically started to drool at the sight of the treats that lie within. “Butterfinger.” Evan settled on. “Brit got me onto them. She loves all peanut butter candy.” He took one bar before thrusting the bag back to her. “You better keep it, or I’ll eat it all in ten minutes.”
He sighed in pleasure then, lying back down as he started to much on the yummy chocolatey treat. “I so can’t wait for the weekend. School’s too boring.”

Dare had spent most of the morning with a rather goofy grin on his face. He had even nicked himself shaving and given up immediately. His light blond fuzz did not make shaving imperative and so he didn't feel guilty ignoring it completely. His acid washed jeans and bright yellow tee shirt made him look like a typical rocker and he loped across campus in search of a friend to share lunch with. "Hey Evan!" he greeted his friend happily. "Can I join you?" he asked noting the strange girl with him. "My dad really wants to meet you. " Maddog was impressed with the care the teen had taken with his babies, meaning his drum set. "Have you seen Mike?" he asked trying not to grin goofily.

Silver just listened. "Hail...I could never sit out in a storm with balls of snow coming down on my head, you are one brave soul." She meant that too. Anyone willing to be hit in the head by hail was a brave soul in her opinion. Then again she was not allowed outside during storms, but that was a whole other story. Silver was enjoying herself too much to bring the party down. So she just let him keep talking. It seemed like he enjoyed it.
She did too, but she was not about to interrupt him. From what she gathered all his friends were really into music. "They all sound like good people. She would not mind meeting Brit, patch, Mal, Zac, Ian...or Dare, even Taki..maybe not all at once. She was not that brave. "Yeah Anderson is a good guy. We play Dungeons and Dragons on the weekends." She admitted. She was such a dork. "Your friends sound nice." They really did. He was lucky.
Then some one else arrived. Just from the description Evan gave she knew who the boy was. "You must be Dare. Please join us." Silver scooted over a little to make room. She just shook her head. She didn't even know who Mike was besides what Evan had said. "Evan tells me you are into music." Silver commented. "Did you know The first song recorded by rocker Jon Bon Jovi was actually a song called ‘R2-D2: We Wish You A Merry Christmas’ for an album called the Star Wars Christmas Album. He was only 17 at the time." Silver said with a sheepish grin, "Just some random fact I know." A sign she was nervous, but she was trying.

“Brave?” Evan queried before repeating the word a few more times, in different speeds, rolling it around on his tongue. “You know, I like it. It’s better than stupid, which is what most people would call me for doing that. So thanks!” he grinned enthusiastically, really enjoyed being thought of as brave and not silly or weird or anything else like that. Not that he minded people thinking him stupid or silly or weird. He would be the first person to admit that he was sometimes those things, often all at the same time. If he wasn’t, he would be boring, he thought, so he was more than happy to be those things. And now, it seemed, brave too. Sweet.
“Nope. They’re not good people.” he pointed out before laughing. “They’re great people! Like, totally awesome. They’re mad fun to hang around. And they are really nice.” This he could agree with. “You’ll find out though, soon enough. Stick with me, kid, long enough, and you’ll meet ‘em all soon. Dungeons and Dragons, I’ve never played that before. I thought it would be boring, but can’t be all bad if you like it. Is it like real hard to play? I like real simple games, you know, ones where you don’t have to think too much. I think far too much in class, I’m not wasting my free time thinking.”
“Dare!” Evan greeted enthusiastically just after Silver picked up who it was, and waved, though his friend was only a foot away with him. “Yeah, like Silver said, come, sit with us. Oh yeah, this is Silver. Now sit!” Laughing, he managed to flop himself out even more. “He does? That’s really cool. Well, whenever your dad’s home, just let me know and I’ll come over. You think I could talk him into teaching me some stuff on the drums? Cause that would be sweet! Oh, why does he want to meet me? Did I stuff up his kit or something?” He sounded a little worried now at this, though he didn’t think that could be it. He treated the guy’s drums like they were made of gold. “And nope, haven’t seen Mike anywhere. You guys are really hitting it off. I’m a mad Cupid!”
Silver always seemed to know cool, random facts. Even more than he knew. So Evan figured that was awesomely impressive. And it was nice to make friends with a girl whom he was certain didn’t like him. He was pretty sure she liked Anderson, with the way she looked when she spoke about him. “He sung a Star Wars song? That’s awesome! Really nerdy, but awesome!” Evan grinned, taking another bite of his chocolate bar. He was still chewing on it when he held it up to Dare. “Look, Dare, Silver gave me candy! I love candy!”

Dare apparently had started Evan off for he rambled for a while and then paused giving Dare the chance to answer. He sat in the vacated spot and grinned at Silver. "Nice to meet you Silver. No it's actually the opposite. He was impressed with how good you treated them. That i one of his favorite things. He suggested Dinner tomorrow night if you'd like to come out with us. Wow candy! He opened his bag and pulled out a spring roll. His eyes glazed over as he experienced a zen moment. "Mmmm." and then bit into it with a look of ecstasy. "Want one?" he asked them alway willing to share even his favorites.
