Summer did not like the rain. Such a beautiful day wasted buy such ugly weather. Oh well, might as well use this to her advantage to do some work. She had been slacking lately. And by slacking she meant she needed to make sure everything was in order and the schedule of events was correct. There was the Edward's auction and the pep rally later in the week. Plus a possible bake sale, oh so much to have done for the sophomore class.
Summer had some down time. Her homework was finished and she had no work today, and home was depressing, so she left in the early morning and went to a place to think and study. Yes her life was semi boring. She really needed to have more fun, but if she always had fun then things would never get done. And if no one did anything, then it was up to her to pick up the slack. If that made sense at all.
Summer found a nice quiet corner in an arcade. The one place no one would bother someone with books cause they were too busy playing games. So ironically it was the perfect place to study and work on her latest petition for the school. Summer could be annoyingly persistent when she wanted to and when it came to petitions she had to bother people to get them to sign. "Okay so what to do first. I almost cannot decide." Summer said gleefully to herself. Imagine...someone actually excited about school.
"What would you pick first to study math or to work on a petition that would be of great interest to the student body?" She had to ask someone, it was a really hard choice for her to make.

Downtime...it wasn't something that Lily had very often. When she wasn't snowboarding, she was usually cross-training for snowboarding. Snowboarding...it was pretty much the only thing that was ever on Lily's brain. But today was raining and she'd already spent the morning on the indoor half-pipe so the rest of the day was sort of lost. What she should have done was gone to the gym in the morning and the half-pipe in the afternoon, or gotten her dad to drive her up to Bear since if it was raining in LA, it was probably snowing there, but all of the competitions were over for the year so training was sort of winding down.
Jordan had wanted to go to the arcade for a bit and for some reason Lily had agreed to go with him even though she didn't really play video games very often and wasn't any good at them anyway. When they arrived, Jordan ran right to some shooting game. Lily had played a few rounds with him but got bored. There was a snowboarding game where you stood on plastic snowboard...sure she was supposed to be on break but she sort of wanted to try it...see how she compared in the virtual snowboarding world.
However as she walked toward it, someone stopped and spoke to her. Lily looked over at the other girl. Summer. She was in her class but Lily didn't really know her, but then again, Lily didn't really know many people. She tended to miss a lot of school in the fall and winter for snowboarding and even when she was in school full time like she was now, she wasn't exactly someone with a ton of friend. She sort of kept to herself, not really sure how to relate to the other people who didn't spend all of their time snowboarding.
"Uh...I dunno. Do you want to like be a mathematician? Cause if not...what's the point. Might as well do something you care about," she said. In general Lily's grades tended to be pretty poor for that reason. She didn't see the point so she didn't care.

Dex hadn't gone home from the mall yet .He didn't want to find out why he's dad was dressed up. Dex had some strange feeling that his dad was dressed up because he had started dating again. Dex really didn't mind his dad dating again he just didn't want to hear dating advice from his dad or even have "the talk"with his dad .Dex had been hearing about "the talk" every time his dad started dating a new girl.
The last girl Dex met he could see his dad dating but not marrying. Dex's dad was in his late 40 and Dex didn't need a mom anymore. Dex just wanted his dad to find love. A love full of commitment, hope, comfort, and trust. The love that Dex's dad hadn't found in Dex's mom.
As Dex keep walking around the Mall he noticed something a person doesn't see everyday a girl sitting in a arcade studying. The girl to Dex was gorgeous and she look really smart. Dex was pretty sure that he could show her his charms of intelligence . Plus not only did Dex have charms he had looks that killed.
Before Dex realized it though another girl had started talking to the girl who was studying. Dex normally would have let this stop him but he really wanted to talk to this girl. Dex walked up to both girls and heard them conversing about whether it was necessary to study Math first or Do a petition for school. Dex thought about it and then answered the first girls question." I think you should do what you don't want to do first and then do what you want to do second. That way when your doing the fun thing you don't have the other thing over your head telling you to work on it."
Dex just keep looking at the first girl . Dex had no idea who she was but she really sparked his interest.

Oh wow, two people were talking to her. Wow. Yay, people. Did she really just get excited over people. Summer was the kind of girl that did not have many friends. She tended to be too annoying for friends to stick around, but yay people were talking to her. One of them a guy, a really cute guy which made her blush. She smiled at both of them.
Of course she knew the girl. Being student council President of the Sophomore Gould class, meant she knew every single name of every single sophomore in her class. "Lily...hi...I'm Summer...the president of our class...nice to finally meet you." Summer put her books down and looked from Lily to the guy, "I am Summer and this is Lily. We both go to Gould." Summer of course barely knew Lily, but still she introduced both of them. "Please join..." She patted a seat. The more people the merrier.
Summer loved people. "A mathematician, I hardly doubt I could do that. I am not quite dedicated to math that much. I was more asking because I have a test on Friday and well. its never to early to study." Could she be even more of a dork. What an impression. Especially for the guy. Although perhaps Lily could be a future friend. either way both kids must think she was a dork, which she was.
No, Summer wanted to be a musician and a singer, but she was not about to reveal that part of herself. The only place she sang was in a quiet room alone or in the shower. "But yes the petition could use some work. I need to run it by the principle first, you would not believe some of the...." Summer luckily caught herself as she was about to go off on some tangent. "Well I can always talk about that later. So what brings you both to the arcade..." God what a stupid question. Great. Wonderful. Now they would both surely leave.

Lily sort of stood there, not sure if Summer wanted her to stay around or not. They didn't really know one another but then again Lily didn't really know most people. Before Summer could really respond though a boy walked over, ogling the other girl and pretty much ignoring Lily. Well, that was no surprise. Summer was really pretty and Lily was, well Lily. She was too muscular for a girl her size, and boys didn't like that. Well, snowboarder boys didn't care because they were used it it, but other boys, not so much.
Either was, Lily didn't know who the guy was. He seemed older though and clearly not interested in her. She would have taken this as her cue to go, but Summer seemed to acknowledge her and even introduce her to the boy, talking as if they were all going to hang out or something. Lily felt a little awkward. Did this mean she was supposed to stay?
They went on, talking about math. Lily's view was very different. She had the same math test on Friday, although she wasn't in Summer's class, she took sophomore geometry too, so she assumed her test was the same one Lily was studying for. But unlike Summer, Lily hadn't studied at all yet and she wasn't really planning to. Maybe she'd glance over it quick before the test but that was the extent of her studying. It was probably why Lily's grades were pretty crummy, but luckily she was smart enough that she could usually get by without studying or failing anything.
Summer had included Lily when she told them to have a seat....like they were friends or something. Lily didn't really have friends at school, so it felt weird to be wanted around. She looked over at the guy, still starting persistently at Summer. "Are you sure...I don't want to...get in the way..." she said, a little hesitant of being caught in the middle of a major flirt fest that didn't include her. Apparently, when it came to anything or anyone associated with school, Lily was always doomed to be the odd one out.

Dex looked at the Lily and answered her question "Are you kidding its totally cool, No worries!" Dex was thrilled when Summer introduced both herself and the other girl. Dex really didn't mind Lily although he noticed she felt awkard. Dex looked at the Lily she was really friendly and Dex could use a friend. Dex decided to join the two girls. He figured he would make it as causal as possible for all three of them. So Dex went on to tell the girls that he was really good at Math. One he was a senior and two he had taken everything up to Trig and Calc.Dex even offered to help them study for their test I mean who was going to let down a opportunity to tutor two girls.
Dex was totally in to spending more time with these girls so he figured out a perfect way to . He would ask them if they wanted to play in the arcade. The game that Dex really knew that three people could play was the basketball hoop game. It was Dex favorite since he knew how to slam dunk and make a shot really good. Dex even figured since he was the guy he could buy the girls a soda. The girls look pretty thirsty and if they were going to study Math they would need the caffeine.

"No...don't go. Please stay." Summer told Lily. "I could use the company and you are not in the way. Asthey say the more the merrier. Besides I would loveto pick both your brains about my petition." Summer was so exctied. People! Yay. She really needed to calm down.
"So I was thinking thatI would petition the Principle for the entire school to have another dance, or something before the prom. Since usually the prom is for Juniors and Seniors, but I was thinking another school dance for everyone. For people to come together. Show that we really are no long Gould and Silver if you ask me." Of course this had to go through the Presitdent of the Student Council. But Summer was passionate.
She looked between the two blinking. She knew sometimes she could be seen as maybe too passionate. Afterall was this really the time to be talking about school. She must seem like a dork. "Sorry. I have a tendency to have a one track mind." She admitted. "I like to keep busy, so coming up with random petitions helps. I was the one who asked for vending machines. I got sick of mystery meat." She was very excited about some of what she had done.
"So do you both cometo arcade a lot...or what do you like to do for fun?" Summer asked Lily and Dex. She was always cuirous what people did. Maybe they would have more in common. Summer would take a new interest just to make a friend. She desperatly wanted to be seen as a friend and not the bratty girl who needs to take a chill pill.

Lily nodded, when they both told her to stay. She just hoped she didn't get roped into studying math because she kind of didn't care about math. She didn't need math. The boy seemed to have noticed her a little more now, but he was still probably more into Summer. In Lily's mind any guy would be crazy to pick someone like her over someone like Summer.
Summer went on talking about her petition. "The vending machines...huh," she said nodded. She'd had no idea who done that. They just sort of appeared one day. But then again it had been while Lily had been away for a week for a snowboarding competition. She'd come back and the vending machines were just there. "Uh...I guess people would like another dance," she shrugged. Lily had never been to a school dance. She was always too concerned with other things to worry about school dances, not to mention she'd never been asked to one anyway.
She did relate to Summer when she said she had a one track mind though. Lily was that way too, only her focus was more athletic. "No...I don't really come here usually," Lily shook her head. Even now she was only here because her brother had dragged her out. He'd claimed that they both needed some downtime, which Lily wasn't against, she just didn't have anyone but her brother to hang out with in her downtime usually. "For fun..." Lily trailed off. "Well, snowboarding," she shrugged. The snowboarding was still for fun even though she'd gone pro. It was the other training she did for snowboarding that wasn't the fun part, like going to the gym or running or gymnastics. The snowboarding part was still very much fun. Being on the half-pipe was still by far Lily's favorite thing to do.

Dex listened to all that Summer was saying and was really interested. Lily looked like she wasn't very familiar with what summer was talking about. Now when Lily talked about snowboarding that was something that Dex was into. Well maybe not snowboarding but skateboarding he was. Dex really wanted to hear more about snowboarding. So Dex decided to make a suggestion “Maybe one day we can go on a trip to and snowboard.”
Dex answered Summer’s questions though. Well I came here to get a CD. "I'm really into a band Call Shinedown."Have you guys ever heard of them?" The band sings a song called Secondchance, they are like the coolest rock band ever." Dex was really into rock, hip hop, and even alternative. "You know if you guys want we can go to the CD and Video Store and check out some cool tunes." Dex then realized that Summer was doing homework. Dex then looked at Summer and said "well at least when you gets done with your homework." Dex really felt relaxed hanging with these ladies he was impressed with himself. Lily definitely had his style and class. Summer though was really cute. Dex decided he might like both of them now he was a little confused. Dex never had two crushes before.

"Yeah I don't really come here either, but I was bored inside and usually I like doing homework and stuff outdoors, but thats impossible with the weather, so I decided to come inside the arcade. I figured people would be too busy playing games to notice me. But I am glad both of you came over. I am afraid my social skills are sadly lacking. I am use to talking at people more then talking to people." Yes there was a difference.
"Snowboarding? I have never tried that. "She looked between Dex and Lily, when Dex made the suggestion. "Is there some where we could take a day trip? I am not sure I could go away for the weekend. Or even a night." Not like they would anyway. The three of them were strangers. To go away for a night was crazy. Besides she was not sure her group home would allow her to go away over night anyway.
"No I have never heard of the band. I like AC/DC, Shine, Offspring, Jazz, musicals. I have a wide variety of taste." It helped with her singing to listen to different kinds of music and sing along. She learned different tunes and notes. It was a self teaching method. Summer was excited to be making friends. Dex was very cute, and he was older. Lily seemed to have an interesting hobby. To Summer, that meant Yay friends.
Although she hoped she could tone down her annoying factor. Summer needed to remember to not talk her friends into helping with Student Council stuff. She was liable to try and get then to help with a dance committee or something and that was not the purpose of friends. "What is your taste in music?" She asked Lily.
