For once in his life Mike actually looked like shit. He looked tired and had major lack of sleep written all over his face. He felt like shit too. His own fault though and he knew it. Mike had been having issues all month. He did what he always did when he was hurt. He partied hard. Mike had been trying to keep his distance from Jade. He wanted to give Jade his space, but damn it. It was hard. Hell it down right sucked ass. All he wanted to do was apologize and tell Jade he would change. But that would most likely be a lie. Yeah right it was a lie. Mike knew he had issues with control, but he could not help it. He was so use to having his way.

Yeah it was a reality check when Jade dumped him, but it just made him spiral more out of control, which was funny coming from a guy who always had a need to be in control. Today Mike had the worst hangover in his life. The smell of food made him want to throw up and thoughts of Jade made him want to flee. Mike was not dumb he heard rumors about some new guy in Jade's life. Mike hated it. It took everything he had to stay away. Which would not happen for much longer, but he wanted to give Jade a little more space.

Honestly Mike was too scared to go find Jade. To scared of what he might find. All Mike knew is he still had feelings for the guy. He could have any girl he wanted, yet he pinned for his Irish mate. Damn it sucked. Usually Mike broke the hearts. This was new to him. To escape the smell of food the idea of Jade Mike went to the football field and laid down on the bleachers. He needed a cat nap, the sun and the fresh air was the best place for that. A bit of a weird combo, but Mike liked to go to the beach and layout when he had a hangover. It always made him feel better, its just this was a school day. So Mike laid down in the sun and put his hoodie up to cover his eyes a little. He was about to doze when some shadow covered his face completely. He could tell because he no longer felt the heat, "Dude do me a favor and move....you're blocking the damn sun and I have a headache."

Jade walked out to the football fields, he had been told by a friend that Mike was out here, he knew the boy had issues and the fact that hangover probably covered what he had or something stupid he thought best to check out what the boy was up to.

Jade spotted him on the bleachers, as he headed over to him he thought about what had made him leave Mike in the first place, and knew that it was probably a really bad idea for him to be out here on his own.

He wasn't spotted until he was right on top of Mike overshadowing him.

"Dude do me a favor and move....you're blocking the damn sun and I have a headache."

"Yeah take a tablet with that." Jade said to him as he stared down at him. "Someone said you were out here, and you had unmistakable air of someone with a hangover." Jade said to him. "Please tell me that your not doing something stupid again, because I know how that works out for you." Jade said to him as he sat down at the boys feet. "I wanted you to find out from me and not ssomeone else, or from some unconfirmed rumour that I've met someone." Jade said to him knowing in his heart that he would be hurting Mike by saying it, but knowing also he had to tell him himself, and not have the boy watch him being with someone else.

Crap! There was no mistaking that voice the moment he heard it. Not to mention what the guy said. Damn it. So the rumor was true. Crap. Mike thought. Just crap. he guessed he had himself to blame. he screwed up, although he did not care. He still wanted Jade and just because Jade had met someone else would not change that. But it did hurt. What hurt the most was that Jade found a new guy within a month of the break up. it made Mike feel as if their relationship meant nothing to the Irish boy.

Mike kept his eyes closed as Jade spoke taking a few deep breaths trying to calm down. Mike did not do emotions. Finally Mike sighed and sat up. He removed the hoodie and looked at Jade. "How the hell did you find me? " He asked wondering who told him, but it did not matter because here Jade was, "A tablet could work....depends on what tablet I take." He smirked. "Many tablets have many different effects." He said as he turned to face the football field and lean back against the bleachers.

"Me doing something stupid? Never." He laughed, "I mean do you really care if I do something stupid?" Mike retorted. He was hurt, upset and angry. Jade was right to worry. Mike did stupid things when hurt. He had to think about what he wanted to say. He did not want to react in the wrong way and risk losing Jade for good.

"Yeah I heard about the new guy. The rumor mil works wonders around here. I won't lie and say I am happy. It hurts man. We have only be done for a month, dude." Mike was not one to lie. There was not point. It would not solve anything. Mike hung his head and shook it. He turned and looked at Jade, "Look man I am sorry. I probably should have apologized sooner, but I am sorry. " Those words were not easy to say. They might be true, but even Mike had a hard time with them, but they needed to be said. He needed to let Jade know he was not going anywhere.

Mike was not one to beat around the bush. He would tell Jade straight up how he felt. That way there were no surprises coming his way. Mike would get Jade back. He wanted him back and he would find a way to do it. "Thanks for telling me I guess. I hope this guys treats you better or whatever." And in typical Mike fashion. He chickened out and decided not to tell Jade he still liked him.

Jade looked at him, "Its not that hard to know where you go when your hurting Mike, I know you, and their aren't to many places around the school that you can escape the rest of us with a little hope." Jade said to him.

Jade stared at him trying to hide the hurt at Mike's comments, "I care, I just couldn't deal with your need to control everything, I have parents who try that with me every bloody day that their at home." Jade said to him. "I didn't need it from my boyfriend." Jade said to him. "But don't make the mistake of thinking I don't care." Jade said to him softly looking away from the boy this was a really bad idea coming here.

Jade smiled at him, "Thank you." Jade said to him it was one of the only times he had heard Mike say he was sorry Jade's hand reached out touching the boys cheek. "I miss you." Jade said to him. "I probably shouldn't but I do, I mean look at me, I could be having lunch in the hall talking to... instead I am out here chasing you up." Jade said to him with a small smile.

It was true. The football field was one of the only places Mike would go to be alone. Everything made more sense. He knew what to do on the field. He knew what was expected of him when he played. He knew what to do. It was easy. Life was hard. Sure he had a good life, but even the good life could be deceiving. He was spoiled by his dads, but that was not always a good thing. It did not prevent him from getting hurt or feeling abandoned. He still had issues with being adopted.

"You know me too well too have found me out here." Mike said to Jade, "Its calming." He said. He listened as Jade spoke. One word caught his attention. Boyfriend. Did Jade call him boyfriend. For a moment he was not sure he heard Jade right. He thought it was in his head. He had to admit he had wanted to hear Jade say that word for the last month, but to hear it coming from Jade's lips made Mike think he was going crazy.

"Don't you mean Ex Boyfriend." Mike stated. He looked at Jade as Jade touched his cheek. "Well I would rather you miss me and be out here then in the school." Mike said. He still did not think he had changed. He knew he was controlling. It was easy. "Look man, I did not mean to say you did not care. I know you do and thats the problem."

Mike sighed, "I am use to people not caring about me. Its all for fun when it comes to my life. I am use to not caring about people. I get what I want. I like to be on control because then I know what to expect. But you.....damn man....you...you broke my rule about not caring. You got to me. And I hate talking about my feelings...you know that, but....I miss you too..." He said softly. There was no denying it now. Besides Jade said it first. But it was too late right? Didn't jade have another guy.

Jade smiled at him a little as they sat there, not sure what to say without betraying to much of his feelings, and leading to something that would get to Jeremy, he liked Jeremy, hell this was one hell of a mess to be in right now.

"I was speaking in a past tense, when I said boyfriend." Jade said to him. "We had some good times, I had some good times with you." Jade said to him. "Not everything was bad, sure I felt like I was in some soap opera at times." Jade said to him. "But their was never a dull moment with you." Jade added. "Never really a dull moment at any point in my life, pretty quiet but dull no." Jade said grinning.

"This month hasn't exactly been a bundle of laughs for me either, I like Jeremy his a great guy, but his a safe choice, I'll never get hurt by him deliberately anyway." Jade said to him with a shake of the head. "My trouble is I listen to my heart way to much and not enough to my head, because my head is telling me that I should run a mile from you, to get as far away from you as possible." Jade said to him. "My heart on the other hand is telling me that us is worth another shot, and I don't have a clue as to what to do." Jade said to him honestly.

"Past tense right." Mike said letting out a small laugh. "It did not sound past tense." He said looking at Jade with a smile. The problem with Mike was her did not know his own feelings. Jade brought him pleasure, but was that it? What would happen if Mike met someone else who brought him pleasure? Would he ditch Jade for the guy or girl? Or did Mike actually have real feelings for Jade? Did Mike Spruill finally find someone to care about? All those questions were going through Mike's head. That was the issue with claiming to be a hedonist. He did not know his own feelings sometimes.

All Mike did know, was at this moment in time he was damn happy to hear what Jade was saying. Jeremy....did Jade just say the other guys name was Jeremy...why did that name sound familiar. Oh well. Mike shrugged it off. He smiled and looked at Jade. "Good times...yeah we did...." When he was not passed out or high somewhere.

"I am not the one to ask. I want the second shot. I can't promise I will change, but I can try." Mike meant it too. He could try....right? He knew he had issues. Who didn't, but he would be lying if he told Jade to go to Jeremy. Mike Wanted Jade back. "Besides were is the fun in safe. At least with me it was never dull" Mike said softly repeating Jade's wearlier words as he leaned in and kissed Jade.

Jade was a little to shocked to push Mike away when he kissed him, by the time he was in the right mind he had shut down and was enjoying the kiss having realized how much he missed him. Jade's mind was numb when they broke apart, he stared at the boy he had just kissed.

Jade moved down the bleachers a bit desperate to try and get some distance between him and Mike, trying to assimilate what had just happened, if confused about his feelings before covered it that was nothing compared to how he was feeling right now, the dull ache in the back of his head was growing as he thought of the betrayal of Jeremy, though he knew it was just the one date so far... he felt like he had let the boy down in some way and yet felt like he needed more from Mike.

"Damn it." Jade snarled his green eyes met Mikes. "Why did you have to do that?" Jade said to him. "You just made this whole situation so much more complicated." Jade said to him as he moved back to where he had been his hand travelled to Mike's. "I'm not sure what happen's next, theirs someone elses feelings to take into consideration and he doesn't deserve to have his heart broken, not after he just outed himself to the entire schoo by kissing me in the halls." Jade said to him. "We need to tread carefully, I don't cheat on people Mike, it isn't me, what I know is I enjoyed that kiss, so what the hell do we do now?" Jade asked him.

The kiss brought back many wonder feelings. Mike felt that pleasure in his heart. The pleasure he was forever seeking. The pleasure that helped escape the pain. That was what a Hedonist did after all. They sought out that which brings them pleasure. Now that did not suggest Mike did not have feelings for Jade, but more of the question of what those feelings exactly are? Right now Mike knew one thing.....he was glad to be kissing Jade and he wanted more. Screw Jeremy.....he would have Jade.

After the kiss broke Mikes eyes followed as Jade moved. So Mike turned back around and leaned back against the bleachers. He waited without saying a word. What was there too say. He kissed Jade. Now. He had to wait for Jade to either walk away or come back. As Jade came back up the bleachers Mike smiled and looked at Jade's green eyes, "I did that because I want you back. I would do it again." He admitted. Mike was not about to run for cover. He would kiss Jade if he felt like it and that's just what he did. Mike did not care what the school saw.

He shook his head. And looked down for a moment briefly taking into account what Jade was saying, "Like you said never a dull moment. Would you have rather I not kissed you." He eyed the Irish man, "Thought so." Mike considered what Jade said as he held onto Jade's hand. "Just tell him. Isn't honesty the best policy or some crap like that. I could say let's sneak around until you feel ready to speak to this new boy, but you obviously don't want that. So tell him the next time you see him. Just explain." To Mike it sounded simple enough. It was better then hiding it. Mike was not one to hide anything. If he got Jade back he would flaunt it.

Jade stared at him sadly, "A month ago this would have been a no brainer, you have no idea how easy it would have been to say yes a month ago." Jade said to him placing his forehead against Mike's. "But it isn't that easy, I care enough about this guy to walk away just like that, maybe thats my problem I care to much." Jade said to him. "You have to change, you care only about your next fix half the time, whether its beer or drugs." Jade said to him.

"You tell me Mike, you tell me whether I should risk my heart for you again, you tell me your worth that risk, that you can change." Jade said to him. "And you better be damn sure." Jade said too him. "I don't want to hear it now, you need to think about it, and I mean think about it." Jade said to the younger boy. "You need to be able to look me in the eye and tell me that you can try to be a better person, I don't want to get a phone call from your dads to tell me you've OD, or you got alcohol poisoning or anything else." Jade said to him.

"Show me your worth a second chance." Jade said to him softly.
