'Hi Izzy. I hope you had a fun day with your friend. Dare's house was great! I missed you and am looking forward to tomorrow's bowling. We can make up for not seeing each other today then - Taki'

Izzy was still in denial her mother had just died and Jett apparently choose now to not answer his phone. Izzy was getting frustrated. The hospital was asking her questions she did not know how to answer. Her phone buzzed and she thought it was Jett, but saw it was Taki and she smiled a tiny smile. Izzy texted back with shaky fingers, but then she could not text so instead she pressed 3, which was Taki on speed dial.
When she got the voicemail Izzy left a message with a shaky voice, "Hey um...i never went..the wedding it was um...caled off or something...but my mom came home...and um,...um.." Izzy was sniffing through out the whole thing, but she was trying, "I spent the day with her, but um...my mom...she um...you see we got into this fight....bad things were said and now she is gone....she is um...my mom died..." Right as Izzy said that Taki's message machine beeped indicating she had just finished her message.
God her mother was dead.....Izzy had no idea what to do or how to handle it.

Takumi re-read Izzy's message for the fifth time in that same minute. Her mother was dead? Just like that? He'd never even been offered the chance to meet her and now that would never happen. He quickly replied...
'Izzy... I am so sorry. Do you want me to come over?'
He didn't know what to do... What to say. He picked up his phone again, this time sending the same text to Dare and Evan...
'I am sorry but I cannot make it tomorrow to the bowling. Something has happened. I will talk to you at school on Monday'
He just hoped the pair would understand, seeing as though the bowling afternoon had been his idea. And yes, he'd been really looking forward to going as well as making more friends but how could he now, knowing what had happened to Izzy's mother? No, he had no choice but to cancel, no matter how hard that was. The disappointment was great but he pushed that aside as best he could. Selfish thoughts and he knew Izzy needed friends around her - now more than at any time. He could always go bowling some other time... right?
Takumi drew in a deep breath as he closed his phone.

Izz had no idea Taki was cancelling his plans or else she would have told him no...that he had to go bowling and stuff. She did not want him to cancel plans for her. Izzy had to be strong. Parents die all the time, it happens. Izzy would grieve and move on. Just because she said told her mother she wished she dropped dead and then she did die did not mean anything. Things would be okay.
Izzy read the text. "Yes, please...." She pressed send. Izzy needed a distraction right now. She was forcing herself to be distracted. Izzy needed it. She could not think about...her mother...or the death, because the guil set in. Had she done this? had she really killed her mother by wishing she died. The doctors explained the brain aneurysm. That it was fast and no one could have seen it coming.
However, it did not register to Izzy. All she saw was her saying those horrible words and then her mother dropping dead. It was a shock and it made her feel guilty, sad, and angry at herself, mad at the world and a bunch more. Izzy had two ways of dealing...she could go through the stages of grief....or she could choose to hold it all inside.
Izzy was slowly choosing to hold it all inside. She would talk, bt not say much besides it happens. And now she has to deal and move on, but Izzy was nnot ready to talk about how she felt responsible for her mother's death and how she was scared Jett may hate her for killing their mother....even if the doctor explained it was not her...

He peered at his phone's display.
Two words.
Two words that in themselves had little meaning but he could tell even from the 2 dimensional screen how much they truly held.
Yes, please.
He drew in a deep breath and called down to his parents that he was heading over to Izzy's house... Not that he'd been there before just as she had yet to come here. "I'll be back before 11... promise," he added and grabbing his coat and the keys to his Vespa he bolted for the door.
Takumi's mother glanced at the door as it slammed closed. "He was in a hurry. He didn't even stop for dessert!" Most unlike her eldest son.
His father half laughed. "Young love, anata... Young love."
She grinned back at her husband and continued preparing the green tea mousse...
* * *
It didn't take him long to reach the Chen household even taking into account the three times he'd had to stop and ask for directions. He drew up in the driveway and turned off the scooter's engine. Takumi straightened his jacket and headed for the front door. He wasn't at all sure what to say or what even to do but he'd be there for her... and for as long as she wanted.

Izzy was an emotional wreck for now. Tomorrow she could pretend everything was fine. Tomorrow she would go bowling with Taki and things would be normal, she could hold it all inside. her mother was dead...it happens. However, the emotions were raw right now. She just needed someone to hold her.
Izzy finally got home. She took a shower and changed into her pj's. She wore short shorts and a tank top. She sat on the couch trying to watch TV butnot really. The TV jst made her think o her mother. She had yet to really cry. Izzy was partly in denial. The first stage of grief. She kept pinching herself trying to get herself to wake up.
She turned off the Tv eventually and just sat to think. She wondered where Jett was. In the one time she really needed him, he was out with god knows who. Probably some slut he choose for the night. Izzy sighed and threw the remote.
She cruled up on the couch when she heard the door. Izzy wondered who it was forgetting for a brief moment Taki was suppose to be coming over. She opened the door and saw him standing there. Of all the people to come to her right no, in the moment her heart was breaking, it was her boyfriend. God she was lucky.
Izzy motioned for Taki to come inside and she closed the door. Then she wrapped her arms around Taki and started to cry. "Thank you." Was all she could really say right now.

He held her as she cried, sobbs wracking through her slight frame and soon enough Takumi could feel the dampness of her tears through his 'Saiyonara Zetsubou Sensei' t-shirt. He had a feeling said sensei wouldn't mind, though. His arms tightened when he felt her fingers twist the back of his shirt and he rested his head against hers until she'd finished crying. That said, he had a feeling that wasn't going to be the end of her tears.
Izzy finally lifted her face and he ran a thumb beneath her eyes to try and dry them a little. She even made a decent attempt at a smile but - hardly unexpectedly - her heart wasn't really in it.
The pair headed towards a nearby doorway. It led into the kitchen and Takumi knew that at any other time he would have been curious to check out his surroundings. Not toda, though... Not now.
"What happened, Izzy?" he asked in a gentle voice. All he knew was that her mother had died and as Izzy hadn't mentioned any illness he guessed it to have been sudden and a terrible shock. "Does Jett know?" This was sure to be devastating for them both and Takumi's heart knotted in renewed anxiety, knowing there was painfully little he could do... or say.

They had just started dating and she was crying on his shoulder. Izzy was thankful though. She needed someone, and he was here. It made her heart thump, but only for a second before it got heavy again. She twisted the back of his shirt as sobs shook her tiny body. She finally stopped and looked at Taki. Who bless his heart ran his thumb to wipe her tears. She kissed the palm of his hand lightly as she took him to the kitchen.
"Want something to drink? We had soda, water, juice....almost anything." Izzy grabbed a water and took a long sip. As she took a ragged breath. Finally Izzy led them both to the couch to sit down. She leaned her body against his, "I left a few messages on Jett's answering machine, but I have not heard from him. If he knows he is probably in shock and out doing something or someone." Izzy meant it how she said it.
"We got into a fight...my mom and we...words were said and then she just....he dropped...the doctors said it was some brain thing but I was too out of it to understand..." she explained, tears still escaping her eyes, "I was so sudden...I keep pinching myself hoping..." More tears, "Hoping its just some bad dream..."

"No pinching," he said with a serious look but with that hint of teasing in his eyes. "You will bruise yourself. I'm sure Jett will be in contact as soon as he can. Perhaps he has yet to get your message. I'm sure he will come home as soon as he hears what has happened." Did Izzy mean he might be out looking for trouble as a reaction to the shock of losing his mother? Takumi didn't know Jett all that well but he'd seen how close he and Izzy were. He knew in his heart Jett would be back to be with her just as soon as he could. "All you can do is keep trying to call him," he finished.
Takumi listened closely as Izzy told him what had happened. A fight? He had to hold back from asking her what they'd fought about as it wasn't his business and had no real part to play in his being there for Izzy. "A rain thing? Like a... blood that forms a lump?" He frowned, not knowing the right words in English. "Your fight was badly timed but it seems to be that your mother's time had come regardless. Fate can play a cruel game but it is one we humans have no real control over. When it is your time then..." He lifted his hands slightly in mute resignation. "And your father..." Takumi knew he was back in Korea and that Izzy hadn't had much - if anything - to do with him but he still needed to know. "Is there a way to contact him?"

"I am too chicken to really pinch myself. i do not like pain." She admitted with a small smile. Izzy sighed as she shifted a little. "I know Jett will be here eventually. I am not sure if he heard my message or not, but he will process his own way. I know he will be here though. Thanks...for coming..I hope you did not have to leave that jam session or anything." Although she was glad he did and that was selfish thinking of course, but it was nice that she could trust taki after a short time of dating him.
"I was not really paying attention when the doctors explained it..it had something to do with a clot in her brain that exploded or something, I just know it was sudden and no one could have seen it coming." That should make Izzy feel better but it still made her feel bad. "I just wish it had not been now. I haven't seen her in a few weeks and then she comes back and we fight...thats not really good you know." Izzy never did have the best relationship with her mother.
"My dad...Um...I haven't called him." She checked the time. "Its fourteen hours ahead, so i could call him. He might be at work...I don't know..I have to go find the number...i don't even know my own fathers number by heart..." Izzy said breathing out a sigh. "I just...I can't really think straight you know..." Izzy leaned up and gave Taki a small kiss, "Thanks..I mean it.."
