Tae nodded, to re ensure and reinforce the fact that yes, they had already been through the process of introducing one another. But it was perfectly understandable that he might quite possible remember any if much of what had transpired in the last hour or so.
She gave him a surprised smile when he did in fact remember her name. She was impressed. She nodded once more. "And you would be correct. My name is Taegan." She sat and continued to watch him, and study him. The guy before her now was so different from the guy who had literally run into her. Then that was probably the drugs, making him act so out there. Duh, right? She felt like she could possibly enjoy finishing this day and finding out what the 'real' Gray was like.
"Then ok, we'll stay." she smiled a little more. What was going on here? She didn't consider this 'date'. A date didn't involve getting run down by some dude high on brownies and then being drug off to a sushi restaurant. So, she had no idea what to call this. Perhaps 'Close Encounters of the Strange Kind'?
Taegan took one of the menus from the waiter. She scanned it over. Then glanced back up at Gray. "Yes, I go to school around here. I go to Silver. But I've been out of town for awhile. My Dad thought it was a good idea to send me to stay with some relative for while, since things around here have been so crazy lately here." she gave a little shrug of her shoulders.
She had to admit that Gray wasn't a bad looking guy. He was kind of good looking. The sort of guy she never expected to give her a second look, or a first look for that matter.

"Taegan's a cool name." He nodded before smiling lightly despite his throbbing headache. "I'm from Gould. Guess we shouldn't be talking to each other right now, uh?" he joked. Picking up the menu already set on the table, he scanned through it before signalling the waiter to get their orders down. While they waited, Gray listened to her explanation for being apparently absent. He was reminded of the shooting, which didn't go down well with the Gould junior. He didn't lose anyone close to him but it didn't change the fact that almost all who had died were his friends or siblings of his friends and they were going to be missed.
"Uh...I'm sorry I knocked you down. I can't apologise enough." He said as the waiter came by. He gave them his order and waited while Taegan gave hers. Once that was done, he turned back to Taegan. "So...I guess you didn't go to school today?" He gave her a sly grin. He hadn't gone to school either and had chosen to hang out with one of his stoner pals and his mother who happened to be Gray's mother's best friend. It had been a running joke for Jake, Gray's stoner pal, to call him by his full name ever since his mother once at a house warming party had given him an earful using his full name.

"Thanks.." she smiled, "It's supposedly a variant on Teagan, which in according to my Dad was an Irish/Celtic name my mother liked...meaning something like "little poet"." she shrugged, and gave a roll of her eyes. "I don't know..may be she thought she gave me a name like that, I'd become something like that. But a poet I am not. Quite far from it actually." she laughed more. She didn't know why she was telling him this. He probably didn't care about this. But it was conversation, and it kept her talking. Otherwise, she ran the risk of letting her typical, shier demeanor taking over and she wouldn't hardly say more than two words. So, sometimes rambling about non-sense was a good way to at least talk to people. Who knows, may be he would find something about it interesting. You never know what kind of tid-bits of information might be fascinating to one person. "I like your name as well. I like..Grayson."
"I suppose some might say we have crossed enemies lines by speaking and socializing in public together when we are from rival schools, but I don't hold much stock in that. A school is a school. People are people. Neither one any better or any worse than other."
Tae shook her head. "Hey, don't worry about it. No was hurt, no harm was done. So, don't worry about it. I don't believe it was done deliberately or maliciously." she joked. "It was merely an accident, and I should have been paying more attention as well. Rather than trying to read signs and walk at the same time."

"Well, it's not a bad name to live up to. And writing poetry isn't that hard. Get a few rhyming words together, try to fit them into four lines of words. Okay, let me try. Part, heart, dart and...tart for example. I cannot believe my heart, of all things it takes in a dart, you and I will have to part because I believe that you've become a tart. What do you think?" Gray grinned. It was the lamest thing he had done but he knew he could write better poems, and lyrics, than that.
"Grayson's my grandfather's name. My middle name was what my mom gave me. But I hardly think my middle name is fit for a guy. I don't think it's fit for any human being for that matter." He shook his head in embarrassment. "A few of my friends call me Shep. Short for Shepherd which is my last name. But you can call me what you want." Gray was tempted to quote from Romeo and Juliet but he knew it was a corny move. Even for him. And that was saying a lot.
"Now see, that's school spirit if I ever saw one. I think we'll be good friends, Taegan." He smiled, purposely looking into her eyes. If she was any kind of girl, the look he was giving her could melt an Ice Queen's heart.
The staring contest Gray started was broken when their server came by with their orders. "Ah...sushi." Gray smiled widely before breaking his wooden chopsticks in half, rubbing them against each other to smoothen the edges so he wouldn't get splinters in his fingers. He started to stuff himself with the bite sized sushi pieces.
With Taegan reassuring him that he hadn't done any real damage, Gray nodded in relief. "Well good. And I suppose I should never leave the house when I'm baked. I hope I didn't do anything embarrassing."

It wasn't that bad a name, and if you were going to try and live up to a name that would be a good one to have. And it wasn't different. She hadn't ran across to many other people in the course of her short life thus far with her name. So, it did help give you a feeling of being unique and an individual. She listened as he gave her a little lesson in writing poetry. She wasn't quite sure where he was going to go with the choice of words he had. But she listened with curiosity. Her chin rested on the palm of one of her hands. "Bravo...!" she laughed. "That should...win a prize." she teased lightly. Feeling a bit more comfortable around him and a little more able to kind of let her guard down a bit.
"Your grandfather huh? That's still nice." she smiled warmly. "So, you have some mystery name or something? A middle name that isn't fit or any human being? That must be some name." she couldn't help but to laugh a bit more. What kind of name could be that bad? "It can't be that bad. Can it?"
"You consider that school spirit?" She raised a brow and stared at him. Being told she had any kind of school spirit wasn't exactly something she was used to hearing. Typically, it was more the opposite and it was that she didn't have enough school spirit. But everyone had their own way of expressing. She just kept hers more on the inside. Oh, she noticed the look he was giving her. She felt her cheeks get warm and flush a bit. She just hoped that he hadn't noticed. She had to look down quickly and distract herself with something.
That something ended up being their food. She picked up her own chopsticks and sort of poked at her food. Half expecting it to still be flopping around her plate and gasping for breath.
She looked back up and grinned. "Embarrassing? Nah, it all depends on what one person deems embarrassing. Because what one person might consider embarrassing wouldn't be to someone else. It's all a matter of perspective and how you look at it."

Gray chuckled at Taegan's confidence in his rhyming skills. "It should. But hey...you gotta start small yeah?" He shrugged after swallowing his salmon tempura. "I've got my own garage band. You should come by and hear us play sometime. I don't know about me but my band members are pretty sick." He shrugged before picking up a fish egg wrap.
As she started talking about names, Gray shook his head. "Nah. Trust me. You don't want to know my middle name. It can be that bad." He laughed.
Being sarcastic had its downsides especially if the recipient was a sweet girl who probably had never been mean her entire life. Or been given the cold treatment from anyone else. Especially if she could look away so quickly like that after one of Gray's intense looks. He didn't blame her. He didn't even smile in triumph when she looked away. All he did was give a little smile at her shy demeanour.
When she looked back up, her grin took Gray back abit. It wasn't dazzling or anything special but...Gray just couldn't describe what it made him feel. He pushed it back as he concentrated on what she was saying, agreeing to it and shrugging. "I guess." He shoved another piece of sushi in his mouth.
"So...what do you do in your spare time besides reading signs while walking?" He joked.

Maybe to him it was just a silly a little poem he came up with on a whim, it was still impressive to her. It took creativity and some quick wit to be able to do such a thing. Those were two things that she wasn't best known for. Some of her friends said she was funny, but she didn't see it. She didn't know where they got the idea. But she didn't argue the point, she just let it go and let them think that what they wanted, even if she didn't necessarily agree with them. "You have a band?" she raised a brow. "That's pretty cool. What sort of music do you play?" she asked curiously. She figured it was probably rock or something heavier perhaps, but you never did know. He could surprise her with something truly off the wall. "Hmm...yeah. Maybe I should hear you sometime. Sure, why not."
"Well, that's ok. It'll leave you with a bit of ere of mystery about you." she smiled when he still wasn't about to give up this name that he deemed so horrible. How bad could it really be? Unless it was something like 'Sue' then she could understand why he would want to keep that under wraps.
Taegan wasn't exactly a stranger to sarcasm. She could be sarcastic when she wanted to be and depending on who she was around and how comfortable she was. She had never been a 'mean' person, or mean to people for the sheer sake of being mean, but she sometimes picked on her friends. Things like that. But she had to feel pretty comfortable around someone before that side truly started to come out. So, to most people she did come off as this very shy, quiet girl. Maybe a little withdrawn.
"What do I do?" she shrugged. "Not much. I'm pretty boring person." she admitted. "I hang out at home a lot. I read some. I like music and computers, both are something I've been dabbling in a bit this last year and I've found it is much harder than I thought and I might need to find something a little less intense to spend my time with." she laughed.

"We usually do covers of old rock bands. Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones and sometimes some of our own crap. Usually we rotate amongst ourselves like...one week would be old bands, then the next would be me and then the drummer and then the bassist and then the singer...something like that. I'm sorry if it's boring you." He shook his head when he realised he was babbling. "I tend to get that way when someone doesn't stop me."
Taegan's words made him grin. "Air of mystery huh?" he asked before realising that she hadn't eaten since their order came in. He wondered why...didn't she like sushi? "I suppose we could call it that. I do like to keep people guessing."
He picked up a piece of fried salmon and dipped it in soy sauce before biting into it as he listened to Taegan talk about how she filled her time. "Ah...music. Now you should really come by my jamming sessions. We sometimes conduct lessons since our lead guitarist was actually in a formerly known band."
"You could always learn how to...I dunno...write or...bake. I know that sounds like a very uncool thing for a guy to say but you'd be surprised by how fun it is to learn creative writing or baking cupcakes. Don't tell anyone but...my mom is a killer baker and she forces me and my sister to help her in the kitchen all the time so...you know...it doesn't do to have people know that I uh...bake." He felt his cheeks flush as he took a mushroom capped salmon with his chopstick and held it out to Taegan. "You haven't eaten a thing."

"Nothing wrong with doing covers." she told him as she listened to him tell her about his band and the type of music they did. "I happen to like..I guess you would call it 'old' school. Mostly 80's stuff. I like some of todays music, but not enough to call myself a fan of any particular genre of music. I just like what I like and go with it." she shrugged. "No, you're not boring me at all." she shook her head.
She picked up a piece of her food in her chopsticks and turned it back and forth a bit sort of studying it as he talked more. "I do cook some. Here and there for me and my Dad. But he works odd shifts sometimes, so I don't do it alot cause I never quite know if he'll be home for dinner or not. But I enjoy it, and I journal some. That's my creative writing. I just don't write anything that I'd want anyone else to read." she laughed. Then finally popped her first piece of sushi into her mouth.
"I took some chorus in school, but with my absence of late, I've kind of had to put it on the back burner. But that's ok. I'm not one for the spot light anyway. I'm more of a behind the scenes kind of girl."
"You got my word, I shall never speak another word about you and baking hobby." she gave him a little wink. "So, uh...when is your band playing again?"

"How can we deny that the 80's were a rockin' era?" He grinned as he fed himself another piece of sushi until all that was left were bits and pieces of fried vegetables. "I actually feel the same about today's music." He laughed when he realised how he sounded. "We sound old." Gray pointed out.
The mention of just a father and no mother was interesting to Gray. He wanted to ask but it might be too personal so he just kept quiet. "You don't have to be one for the spotlight to be good at singing or playing an instrument. In fact, you could do it privately and journaling is pretty good. You should try the rhyming thing I taught you earlier. Could be fun." Gray smiled.
"Thank you, thank you. You're saving my reputation, you know that?" He wiped his forehead in mock relief. He called the waiter for the bill before finishing his drink. "Um...we're jamming tomorrow afternoon after school. They have to wait for me since I'm the lead guitarist and none of them have lives anyway." He laughed a little.
"So...how come you were alone today? No one to skip school with you?" He asked, mostly out of curiosity. But he also wanted to know if the girl was single.
