Tae had been away for what felt like a lifetime. Her father had gotten this crazy notion that she needed to go spend some time wtih some cousin thrity times removed. She never did quite understand how they were related (if they even really were), but none the less with much of the happenings that had taken place he had sent her to visit and 'help' out this family member. Little did she know what she would be coming home too. She had arrived back home that weekend. Late Sunday evening, so he hadn't returned to school yet. She felt like she had returned to awhole other world where she no longer knew what was happening, like aan appearant shooting at the school? She had only heard little snipits about that. No great detail.
Since this was the last day she had before she did return back to school she figured she would venture out refamiliarize herself with her hometown. She had spent the first half of the day just checking out the area, driving around. Looking to see if had changed drastically since she'd been gone. For the most part it all looked the same, but yet it wasn't quite feeling like home. That kind of made her sad.
She looked at the time, it was late afternoon. School would be letting out soon. She was getting kind of hungry. She found herself a place to park her Tracker. She got out and walked down the street. Trying to decide which place she wanted to eat at, all of them were places she'd missed stopping in. So, which would be her first choice now that she was back home?

"Grayson Madison Shepherd give me back my brownies or so help me God!" With a cheeky grin, Gray stuffed the whole hash brownies into his mouth and ran out of the house. "I'll pay you back!" He said with a full mouth before slamming the door to his house shut. He walked in the direction of the central market place and enjoyed the brownie in his mouth. Stuffing his hands into his jeans pockets, he wandered around the complex a bit to shake away the wooziness he was starting to have.
Finally finding a bench that looked practically like home to a sixteen year old boy who had just taken a huge portion of weed and chocolate, Gray crashed and started singing a very off-key rendition of Bon Jovi's "You Give Love a Bad Name". He also started playing air guitar and drums much to the dismay of two elderly couples who were strolling around the complex as well. When he realised he was the subject of a group of giggling girls' affection, he slowly got up and serenaded them with another off-key rendition of Cyndi Lauper's "Girls Just Wanna Have Fun". When they dispersed, still giggling possibly even louder than before, Gray laid back on the bench and sighed. "Nothing like a hash brownie and midday sun to chill in." He grinned and for awhile all he did was concentrate on the slow moving clouds.
When he was sure he was feeling more sober, he got up very slowly and started walking. He could see straight lines but he was walking in zig zags, laughing all the while until he bumped into someone and fell on top of a very attractive small built girl. "Well...either I'm in Heaven or Hell just got an upgrade." He smirked before sliding off the girl and sitting beside her, dusting off his kneecaps. "Need help gettin' up?"

Tae was just walking around still undecided on where she was going to stop for lunch. At this rate it would be time for dinner before she ever made up her mind. Sometimes it really was a pain in the butt to be so indecisive. It was just food after all. Not rocket science or brain surgery. It shouldn't require this much thought and concentration. After all, any place she choose wasn't going to be some five star establishment. It would probably have a negative five rating for all she knew. But she didn't really care.
She had just turned the corner and was heading down. Not really paying attention to where she was walking. She was looking at some store front windows and reading some names off to herself. Because of this she wasn't aware of the boy weaving, and zig zagging his way through the crowds as well. Heading in her direction. The collision was inevitable.
She was on the ground before she ever knew what hit her. She sat on her butt for a few moments. Trying to figure what had happened and how she ended up here. When she had been...up there. Then she heard someone speaking. Asking if she needed help getting up. That finally brought her fully back into reality. She laughed a little. She looked up at the boy who was speaking and who also appeared to be the reason that she was now in the situation she was in. But she held no hard feelings. It was an accident. An amusing one really.
She held her hand up to him. He was offering. He was being..somewhat of a gentleman, so why not take advantage of it. Who said chivalry dead? It still reared its head from time to time. "Sure, thanks." she smiled.

Slipping his hand in hers, Gray pulled her up and she knocked him back a few steps. His head spun and he started to hiccup and giggle. "Hi. Sorry for knocking you down." Another bout of hiccups rushed out of him before he smacked both his hands over her cheeks, squishing them in so her lips looked like they were pouting. "You're cute. Pretty and cute. Cut as a button. I'm going to call you squishy. Squishy cheeks." Gray smiled widely before letting her go and slinging his arms over her shoulders.
"I'm hungry. You want some eats? We could go and have some eats at the foodcourt. I want sushi. Do you like sushi? Sushi's a weird word. Word weird. Haha! Listen to the words. Weird word. Word weird." Gray repeated the two words over and over again until his tongue was twisted. "SUSHI!" He pointed to the sushi joint right in front of them as he made a beeline for it, accidentally pulling Taegan with him. "Table for two." He held up three fingers close to the server who backed up pretty fast. Gray pulled his fingers up to his face and laughed. "That's not two fingers...haha! Girlie, you know how fingers I'm holding up? Guess."
Gray was high and he was starting to see things. He shouldn't have taken those brownies. Now he wouldn't surprised if the restaurant manager kicked him out of their restaurant. The girl would be disgusted by him. Already is maybe.

Tae was barely on her feet and stable herself before...this boy who was beginning to concern her just a bit was knocked back a few steps, but seemed to recovery fairly quickly considering the condition he was in. Whatever that was. She cocked her head to the side slightly and watched him. There was something very off about this boy. It didn't appear threatening. Surprisingly. She really didn't feel that she was in real danger. Other than maybe being knocked down again in his...uhh...'excitment'. But before she could react or say much else, her face was being squished. He was rambling on and on about...what? She was cute? Pretty? OK, that proved it, this boy wasn't right in the head or something. That had to be it. "T...ank....you.." she tried to say while he had her cheeks squished together. Then she was eventually released, only to now find that he had flung his arms over her shoulders.
Tae stood there just staring in awe, shock, wonderment. Anything else you wanted to call it. She opened her mouth to try and answer some of the million questions he had just unleashed upon her, but before she get even one syllable out he was off onto something else. She didn't know what was keeping his poor head from exploding it was working so fast. No, she wasn't an overly huge fan of Sushi. She could tolerate some of it. But something about raw uncooked fish didn't set well with her. But she never had a chance to say anything to him about that much less anything else. Cause it was no time at all she found herself nearly stumbling over her own two feet as she was dragged off toward the Sushi place. Yes, she supposed Sushi was a weird word. Yet, that was one more thing she just kept to herself. Finding it was best to just let him go until he started to lose steam. If that were possible.
When they got to the Sushi place and he got in the servers face she shook her head. Oh great. She just sort of lowered her head and put a hand up over her face. Shaking her head back and forth and also trying not to laugh. She finally raised her head up and looked at him. "Uhh...I think you want...this many." she took his hand and lowered one finger. "Two...or...a peace sign." she said to him with a small smile. "Table...for...two."
She was beginning to wonder a bit about herself and the sort of people she seemed to find herself running into these days. They were all quite interesting and unique in their own right. Nothing much like herself. So how then was it they kept finding her? Not that she was complaining about it. She was rather amused by it really.

When the girl helped him with his fingers, Gray had a huge smile on his face. "Yay! Two! Two tables." He moved his newly constructed fingers to the server's face. "Do you have anything besides sushi? Maybe like noodles because I like noodles too." Now in addition to his fingers, Gray pushed his face into the server's before he was pushed back gently by the server. "Okay sir. Table for two coming right up." The man turned to Taegan with a worried expression on his face. "Is your friend alright? Because he smells...uh...funky. Like..." his hands made a gesture of holding a cigarette between his fingers.
"Sir are you implying that my breath stinks because of cigarettes? I laugh out loud!" Gray said before literally laughing out loud. He was attracting way too much attention and amused faces peered from behind the server. "Is there a problem?" an immaculately dressed man arrived and assessed the situation. "Dude! I just want sushi because see...I just ate like this huge piece of brownie and...I need to wash it down man. And this lovely girl beside me here is going to help me wash it down...you know?" Gray slid his arms around Taegan's shoulder and practically squished her against his side. "Isn't she the cutest? Like a button, right?" Gray squeezed her shoulders and smiled at the server and his manager.
"Okay. Table number 12 is ready for you, right this way." The server smiled tightly before ushering them both in. "Yay! We're in, girlie!" Gray said excitedly. And when they were seated in their private curtained room, Gray smiled at Taegan. "I'm Gray by the way. You must be a student. I'm a student too. I'm a sophomore but I'm tall for my age and...don't tell anyone but I got held back a year. So I'm actually already sixteen." He whispered in an urgent manner. "Don't tell anyone but I'm high." He chuckled behind his hand.

Tae just shook her head when he got all excited about now having the correct number of fingers to indicate how many people were in the party. Then when he got back in the servers face and asked for two tables, she shook her head more and had to look away. Tae put her hand on his shoulder trying to get him to stay back. There was a concept of personal space, and most people kind of liked for other people to remain out of their personal area. Kind of like that scene from "Dirty Dancing" The whole bit about this is my dance space, this is yours. I don't go into your dance space, you don't go into mine. She gave the server an apologetic look. "I"m so sorry.." she mouthed to him. She would have to leave a HUGE tip at this place. She wouldn't feel right if she didn't. And when the server made the gesture to her, a light bulb went off in her head. That made everything make sense. Why hadn't she realized that before?
Tae forced a grin as she once more being squished, but at least this time it wasn't her face. She looked at the two men standing before them. "Sirs, I do apologize for my friends exuberant personality, and any disruptions he has caused." Ok, one of them needed to act fairly sane here. She just smiled at the two men from her position of being squished next to his side when he grabbed her around the shoulders again.
Tae followed them to the table. She gave the server another apologetic smile. She was definitely going to leave a good tip. She would like to be able to walk by this place at least and not have them look at her funny. Though, in all honesty, it was turning out to be quite an amusing day. She didn't think she had ever been around anyone before who was so high. It was quite comical in many ways. She wondered what he was like when he wasn't high. She found she actually might like to know the answer to that. Find out what this guy was like sober.
"Gray." she smiled. "I'm Taegan, but everyone just calls me Tae." she told him as she watched him and listened to go into another talking frenzies. "Ok..well your secret is safe with me. My lips are sealed." she made the zipping motion across her lips with her fingers.

"Tae...did you know that Malays call tea like that? Tae. Useless fact number two hundred and forty in my head." Gray tapped one finger on the side of his head before grinning at Taegan's actions. "You're silly. And I'm the one who is high on hash. I want sake!" He banged a fist on the low table as he uncrossed his legs and crossed them again.
"Alright. Taegan. I think I'm going to call you Taegan. I like your name. Taegan." He rolled the name out of his tongue plenty of times before his rice wine came over. He took it immediately from the server and sloshed it down his throat. The strong taste knocked him back and he found himself doubling backwards in laughter. Obviously drugs and alcohol just didn't mix well together.
When Gray found a comfortable spot to lie down, he tucked both his hands under his cheek and closed his eyes. "Give me..." what he wanted to say was drowned in soft snores.
It was odd that Gray would ever sleep in a public place so when he woke up with a splitting headache ten minutes later across a girl he didn't recognise, Gray was disoriented. Sushi? Was he on a date? His eyes traveled up to the girl and smiled a little before pushing the heel of his palms up the sides to get rid of the headache he was having. His untimely recovery was massively unfortunate as what happened the past half hour or so came flooding back into his head.
He winced once the flashback was over and he was staring at the cute girl in front of him. He grinned sheepishly. "I'm sorry. I must have been...hi. I'm Grayson. I'm really sorry if I said and did anything stupid for the past hour or so. I should probably leave, do you want me to leave?" What if the girl thought he was a lunatic? Then again, if she did, she would have run away by now, he supposed. But she was still there with an amused expression on her face. It had to count for something.

Okay, no she did not know t hat Malay's called their tea...'tae'. She supposed that might come in handy someday. Should she ever find herself on Jeopardy or something of the sort. He was calling her silly? Heaven help them, if she was the one being silly. To be honest, right about now she had never felt more like a normal human being in her life and was proud of it. But if she were so 'normal' how did she keep finding herself in these rather bizarre situations with random people. She watched him a moment and her eyes got a bit wider when he asked for the sake. What? Seriously? They wouldn't actually give that to him would they?
A few moments later she got the answer to her question as the server brought over the drink. OK, maybe she wouldn't leave quite as nice a tip as she had originally planned anyone would bring a kid his age a drink like that in his current condition possibly needed to have their own head checked. She shook her head and focused on something else for the moment. "OK, you can call me Taegan. That'd be a nice change." she laughed lightly.
Tae sat in shock when Gray lay down. Oh my god! He was going to lay down and sleep here? In the restaurant? OK, what she was supposed to do? Just let him sleep? Should she wake him? Should she take this as her chance to get the hell out of there? That would probably have been the most logical and sensible thing to do. Get out while she could. Yet, she didn't. She didn't feel right leaving him alone like this. She would feel bad if something were to happen to him. So, there she sat with someone she barely knew, who was higher than a kite and sleeping. Yeah, not awkward at all.
Fortunately, he wasn't out all that long. She would have half expected him to be out until this same time next year as wired as he was. But it was only about ten minutes, and when he came to he seemed to be feeling the after affects, but also seemed a bit more sober. Which was a nice change of pace. It also gave her a sense of relief.
"Hi..." she said a bit meekly. "Grayson, I know. We kind of all ready did the whole introduction thing." she shrugged. "No, you don't have to leave. If they haven't kicked us out by now, we might as well stay. Right?" What was she saying?

"Oh...we have? Then I should know your name..." Gray racked his brains and came up with her name. Something to do with Malay...tae? Taegan!
"Taegan. That's your name, right? Taegan?" He asked a little less crazier than ten or fifteen minutes before. His voice was no longer boisterous, his expression no more wild. He was slightly embarrassed by his previous actions.
"And...yeah. We should definitely just stay." He agreed even though he wasn't sure what he had just agreed to. Apparently, drugged up Gray liked sushi.
Clearing his throat, Gray signaled for the waiter to give them menus and gave them a slight smile before turning back to Taegan. "Um...so...you go to school around here?" Gray asked. And obviously sober Grayson was unsure of how to start a conversation. What a surprise.
There were a lot of things sober Grayson was not prone to do without the influence of drugs or alcohol. One of it was go on dates with girls he met under mentioned influence. But he supposed he should continue on the date because frankly, he thought the girl was hot. Well...more cute but she was seriously hot. She was petite, much like most girls he fancied. Her dark brown hair did massively well in his books. And the dimpled smile. Well that just took the cake. She was hot in his books.
