While Thad and his sisters had their occasional spats, he still adored both of them -- and he admired Sidra intensely. He had little interest in vampires on his own, and he enjoyed wearing sparkly eyeshadow just to taunt her, but when she began sprouting her anti-were propoganda he was suddenly right behind her, supporting her to the fullest. This meant, of course, that he had gathered a pile of her flyers and tracts and was waving them enthusiastically at people. He'd been met mostly with disbelief and deliberate shunning that morning, but he was undeterred and as soon as the bell rang for lunch had headed for the cafeteria, determined to help his sister win her solitary war against Hunter the lycan threat.
"Hey!!" He greeted people as they stepped through the cafeteria doors, brandishing a tract in front of noses -- or pectorals, if he couldn't quite reach the face -- "Wanna know more 'bout the threat presen'ed by weres?" He questioned, trying to block people from entering the cafeteria without his propoganda, "They're all bad an' stuff, vampires are better!"
This explanation was not, perhaps, what Sidra would have had in mind, but if anyone had truly been curious her leaflets detailed everything they needed to know.

Levi hated the days that seemed to drag on indefinitely. It was barely lunchtime, and yet it seemed to him that he had been in class for fourteen hours straight! Even those classes he usually enjoyed seemed to be particularly boring on this day, and it was all entirely made worse when he received a text from Denny saying he was home sick with the flu. Levi wasn't the most popular kid, so the loss of one friend for the day was especially significant. Compound that with the fact that Denny was also his best friend and that made for a day Levi was hoping to quickly finish and leave behind.
Thus was his state of mind when from out of seemingly nowhere a leaflet was thrust upon him, declaring something about a werewolf menace. It was quickly followed by an enthusiastic boy about Levi's age with a pro-vampire agenda. Levi stopped in his tracks and regarded Thaddeus Cotton with a look of disbelief. Levi may not know a lot about football or basketball, but information about the supernatural was something he devoured happily.
“Really?” He questioned, mentally debating which would be worse, vampires or werewolves. “I guess it all depends on what you believe about each supernatural being, but honestly I can't imagine having one of either around would be any good for people.” Levi took another ponderous moment before continuing. “Unless... I guess if you go by some myths, both werewolves and vampires have been able to be somewhat pacified. But still, trouble usually ends up happening anyway.”
Levi had no idea if the other boy cared at all what he was talking about, but Levi was getting too deep in thought to worry about such trivialities.

Lia was rushing to join Jandro in the cafeteria when someone pushed some flyers into her hands. She stopped to look at them in case they were nothing she wanted, they wouldn't be wasted *Vampires? Werewolves?* she thought as she scanned the top sheet. "Personally I think people just have turned them into personifications of evil because of the fear of the unknown. If they had to live on humans we wouldn't be able to ignore their presence. All those missing people, bodies, etc. It would alert people to them. They have probably found alternate forms of sustenance for their own safety."
Lia smiled blithely at them both, interested in their opinions. Lia was a believer in possibilities and only thought it was fair to listen to other people's possibilities. She had seen both of them around but never talked to them before. She wasn't shy or bold, but somewhere between. Comfortable responding, but rarely instigating conversations.

Thad was thrilled that finally someone seemed to care about his activism – or, his sisters, considering who it was who had made the flyers in the first place – but that thrill was quickly replaced by annoyance when a girl butted in with some ridiculous talk about vampires not feeding on humans.
“Naw, there are plen’y of people nobody’d notice go missin’, and ‘sides, lottsa people go missin’ all the time, anyway.” He informed her, as though he had any idea of the facts on missing persons. “An’ vampires who don’t eat blood are wimpy, vampires are predators!” He was, perhaps, mimicking his older sister and her passionate defense of the predatory vampire – she complained constantly about what she called the vampire’s ‘defanging’, and he had glommed onto this as the only correct interpretation.
“Vampires eat blood, they do, cause my sister is one,” He added, as though this were possible. She would have jumped at the opportunity to be turned, certainly, but if she had really been a vampire of the sort she so loved she would certainly not have been attending school, at least not during the day. “They ain’t good for people, but weres is worse, they all turnin’ into beasts an’ rampagin’, vampires are gonna be all nice an’ not eat everyone at once, cause they need ya to be food forever.”

Roxy threw her books into her locker and headed to towards the cafeteria. She'd skipped breakfast that morning in an attempt to run out of the house early before her mother could tell her about the new list of auditions her agent had found for her. Roxy had overheard her mom on the phone last night so she'd known to avoid her that morning.
However there seemed to be a blockade at the door. Students were pushing through past others that seemed to be blocking the way. Curious, Roxy sped up to see what was going on...her mouth twisting into a smile when she saw Thad was the cause, along with two students she didn't really know. The two she didn't know were staring at fliers carefully and Thad was holding a stack of them.
"What's this?" she asked, snatching one out of his hands. "I should have known it was you blocking the doorway," she teased, sticking her tongue out at him before lowering her eyes to the piece of paper in her hand. She laughed when she read it. "So, Sid's rallying against the werewolves, huh," she said, "well, I'm down. What can I do to help?" she asked. Roxy didn't really buy the whole vampire/werewolves being real thing but it sounded like whatever they were gonna do was going to be fun. And really, to Roxy that's all that mattered.

Lia looked at Thad incredulously. She was silent as he ranted. She would have given him a piece of mind, but another girl came up and made it clear she was down for whatever it was that they planned to do. Rather than the speech about rudeness she had wanted to give, her anger made her step over the line herself. "So... your sister drinks human blood to survive and I suppose she comes to school wearing heavy duty sunscreen... or maybe she is one of those wimpy sparkly vampires with diamond skin that look like disco balls in the sunshine." After delivering her short but blistering opinion she glared at the other freshman boy. "I don't think you have done her cause very much good, so you might want to hide out for a while in case she decides to get her next meal closer to home."
Lia was shaking she was so upset. She through her pamphlets down and then turned on her heel and marched away thinking that werewolves had to be a better choice. She headed to the library completely forgetting she was supposed to be meeting Jandro. She wasn't hungry anyway.

Levi's mouth zipped shut the very second Lia Juarez stopped and offered her opinion. He recognized her from his class instantly, though he doubted she knew him. And as much as he would have liked to point out the flawed logic of the girl's comments, the fact that she was very, very pretty deterred him from speaking. He felt he was being bold enough standing around and watching the discussion. Maybe if her were in a locale where he felt more comfortable, such as the comic shop, he could bring himself to add to the dialogue, but most definitely not in the middle of a Gould hallway.
When Roxy arrived, it was almost too much for Levi. This was a very pretty young girl that he didn't know (but who seemed oddly familiar, like he had seen her somewhere before, he just couldn't place it) who seemed quite comfortable jumping into the conversation. She very well posed the great threat of attempting to talk to him. The one benefit her entrance did have, however, was that she was an extra distraction, and Levi took the opportunity to slowly back up and try his best to disappear from the group unnoticed. They were clogging up the hall anyway, and people were being forced to push their ways past them. If anything, this grouping was an opportunity to be picked on and Levi was a prime target for many a large jock.
Before he could get away, however, Lia made quite a big exit herself and managed to draw quite a bit of attention to the small congregation of freshman, of which Levi was still close enough to be a part of. He had to make a snap decision. Should he remain in the group, hide his attempted escape, and attempt to hide in plain sight? Or would it be best to just cut and run, drawing attention to himself, but for only a few moments as he made good on his departure? Typical of Levi, he turned and hurriedly walked away, hoping no one said a word.
Anyway, none of these kids saw the real threat. Vampires and werewolves were all fun and games to talk about, but when the zombie apocalypse came what good would stakes and silver bullets be?

Roxy was confused. She shook her head when the girl stormed off. "What was that about?" she asked, looking from Thad to the other boy and then back to Thad. And then the other guy started to leave to. "What did I do?" Roxy asked. She had arrived and suddenly everyone left...except for Thad but she was friends with Thad so she didn't really expect him to leave. However some how she had managed to ruin things for him and his cause.
"Hey you!" she called to the boy who was leaving. "Don't you wanna help with the cause?" she called to him, holding up the flier. She'd hate it if she'd scared all the potential helpers away. She knew how into things that Thad got...how excited. That's why she was going to help whether she believed in vampires and werewolves or not. "I promise it will be fun!" she coaxed hoping he'd come back and help.

Levi froze at the sound of the slightly familiar girl's voice. She had caught him and wanted him to return! If only he had been level-headed enough to keep walking, but, alas, he had already made it obvious he heard the girl. He imagined what would happen if he just took off running, and it wasn't pretty. He knew with his luck he'd trip and fall, or run into some jock, or escape and then awkwardly get stuck in conversation with the girl later. None of it was pretty.
His worst fears realized, Levi turned to face the music. For a moment his eyes met hers, and panic coursed through him, forcing his head down. To onlookers it seemed as if he suddenly found his shoes very interesting. “Umm, I don't know...” he muttered, hoping the girl would eventually just leave him be. Didn't girls realize how terribly intimidating they were? Perhaps they did, and they cruelly used their powers on weak males just for sport.
However, the nerdy side of Levi got the best of him, and he was forced to point out the obvious. “And, uh, I don't know if helping vampires would be such a good idea.” Though he assumed werewolves, if real, would probably pose a threat, so would vampires. Do you think they'd let their food supply run around free, hunting vampires, and even worse killing each other off? No, not at all. If vampires ruled the world, humans would become like cattle. He didn't even want to think what vampire veal would be...

Thad gaped at Lia as she stormed off, suddenly thankful that Sidra wasn't around to hear the comparison to Twilight vampires. He might have teased her about it himself, but he was her younger brother and annoying her was his duty; other people weren't allowed to make such comments! "Prolly a friend a Hunters, anyway." He rationalized. At least Roxy would help; he could always count on his neighbor and friend to help him out, particularly when it came to the supernatural or defying family. And if they could find Ez, she would probably help, too! Although, since they both liked him (or so they had managed to convince him), perhaps it would be a bad idea to ask both of them to help; what if they got into a fight over him? That would distract them from helping him out with his pro-vampire proselytizing. Not that he minded them arguing over him, exactly, but he felt kind of bad about it, because he wanted to be friends with both of them.
"Naw, we gotta help the vampires!" Thad insisted, trying to recall what Sidra had told him about why that was a good idea. "Cause uhhh cause they could be all like yeah, you helped us, so we's gon' make you one of us, then you'll be all immortal and whatev!" He explained, bouncing on his toes excitedly.
