Annie's pocket vibrated as her phone bounced around the spacious cloth cavern letting the cupcake queen know she'd received a text. No one actually called her, after all it would do no good for the deaf girl.
Reading and quickly typing out her answer on the qwerty board:
Awesome! I'll see you Thursday! With cupcakes!
Hitting the send key, Annie began to skip. Truly skip through the halls of the school. She waved at a passing officer, grinned at several people, and stumbled as the heel of one shoe dragged a little more than she had intended, but she remained balanced, with minimal arm flailing. The cleanup was going to be so much fun! She had visions of tons of people showing up and the whole thing just being a huge success. Never mind that most of the environmental club's activities ended up in only a few people showing... Annie always had high, high hopes.
Already plotting out what sort of cupcakes she'd make, Annie resumed her skipping, only a hair slower than the original, and onwards to class.
Today, she thought for the world, is going to be a glorious, beautiful day. And it would be too, if only because Annie believed it so. Well, for her anyway, baring any being locked in a small space for an unknown amount of time and coming out to mayhem and death. But that wouldn't happen. Not again!

Dare was sitting on the outside steps playing his guitar when he felt his phone vibrate to the rhythm he had set for text messages. He kept his phone set on vibrate because he hated to have a ringtone go off while he was playing. It seemed to my his rhythm off for the rest of his day. When he finished his song, he pulled out the phone and flipped it open. He grinned when someone... Phil's friend Annie, said she would come the next day. He hadn't expected any RSVPs but it did cheer him up to get one.
'Hey Annie, thanks for the heads up on your attendance. Phil told me you would come and bring cupcakes too. I am eagerly waiting to try one, it will be something new for me. I am going to be bringing drinks, what would go best with cupcakes?' he texted his question and then put his phone away again. He started another song and actually hit a sour note when he saw his half-sister coming up the walk for her first day of school.
Syn had been a complete bitch ever since his father told her she would be going to school daily just as he did. He had felt like a bitch as well because he promised her a motorcycle if she cooperated. Dare felt that was completely unfair. He hadn't been promised anything other than a tattoo if he got straight A's. She just had to show up and she was still bitching about it.
To his immense relief she ignored him and passed him by. He wasn't able to regain his equilibrium however and he put his guitar away with a sigh.

While she was at her locker, the phone bounced around her pocket once again. Looked like she was popular today! Setting the European Lit book back on the shelf so she could be free to read and respond. Her usual smile widened as the eagerness for the next day to get there already. She wanted so much to be out there, with her cupcakes, with her friends, having a blast.
Not that the current day wouldn’t be. It would! But that didn’t mean she didn’t want tomorrow to get there any faster.
Milk goes great with cupcakes, or soda, or Georgia style sweet tea… lots of things! You don’t have to bring drinks though, I can get my dads to do that.
Thumbing in her answer, Annie slipped the phone back into her pocket and bounced on the pads of her feet, her heels clicking against the floor with each bounce. Getting the rest of the books needed for her first two classes, the redhead stopped and an uncharacteristic frown dotted her lips for a brief moment before she pulled her phone out again and thumbed another text one handed.
Do you think we should all wear at least one thing in particular? Like a color or something?
Slipping her phone back into her pocket, Annie headed to her first class to get a seat at the front. Most kids preferred juggling for the back seats, but the tinny teen needed the front. The easier to read lips by.

Dare was about to get up and get his books when his phone vibrated again. He smiled when he saw it was from Annie. He was a bit relieved when she said her dads would take care of it as he had no idea what Georgia style sweet tea was. He had only had green tea iced. He was trying to find suitable words to thank her when the phone vibrated yet again.
He read the new text and blinked as he considered her question. A moment later he was texting her back. "Since you and your dads are handling the refreshments, I will handle the item of clothing," he typed, grinning widely. He had a plan so he practically ran to the computer lab in the library. He figured it was important enough and he was feeling rebellious enough that he skipped his first period class to set his plan in motion.
First he found an embroidery shop that carried the blue pin-striped engineer caps he wanted and then he picked out a cupcake design he thought would go good for their club. He had the words 'Teens for a Better World' also embroidered on the caps as well and ordered forty of them and had them save the design in case they needed to get more of them later. Luckily it was a shop that could do overnight order and he could pick them up on the way to the clean-up the next day.

The teacher was expounding on the poststructuralist cultural critique regarding cultural studies when Annie felt her pocket vibrate again. Taking her eyes off the woman’s lips for a minute and peeked at her phone she bit back a grin. What on earth did Dare have in mind for the identifying clothing? She was excited and nervous both to find out.
She had already figured out exactly how to decorate the cupcakes as soon as she got home and started the baking. There was probably going to be another exploding bag of either confection sugar or flour in her rush, but her dad’s would help her clean it up. They always did. Shame her sister’s weren’t around anymore to play with her too.
The cupcakes though, would be all spring themed. She’d need to get her icing tips out again, but practice always made, perfect, right? Right! She’d have the best cupcakes ever, and even dude from Ace of Cakes would have to like them. She had no idea what his issue with the perfect treat was, but she liked the cake designs he and his friends came up with.
Quickly thumbing Awesome! I can’t wait to see! Annie slipped her phone back into her pocket and found the teacher’s lips again to catch back up with what was being said.
