Finlay couldn't believe the week was almost half-way over! Even better, tomorrow he was getting together with a group of his favorite people, as Annie had invited him (and, by extension, Dee), to help clear the park of litter. There was nothing more exciting to Finlay than helping to keep the planet green, so of course he assumed that Delilah would feel the same. It was certainly better than how she'd spent so much of her time in the past, drinking and partying; she hadn't treated her body any better than many people treated the Earth.
He beamed at her when she approached, "Hey, Dee, you talk to Annie?" He assumed that the red-head would have given Delilah the same message she'd given him, though perhaps he shouldn't have referred to it as talking; the tiny deaf girl certainly had never talked that he'd noticed. But she communicated, with the help of pen and paper, and she'd taught a few of the students enough sign language that they could get by, Fin and Dee included.
"Can't wait for tomorrow! Should be fun, and she said there were more people, that new kid, Dare," He continued excitedly, "We're gonna make the park look outstanding! It'll be awesome!"

It had been an interesting sort of morning for the former party girl. She had collected the mail right before bed the night before, but really hadn't gone through it until she was getting ready to leave. There she was, standing in her kitchen, clad in a short white lace dress, black and white striped tights and a pair of black knee high boots, holding a trio of envelopes from the three art schools. They had been the only three that she could have afforded, and each said the same thing. Thank you for your interest, but we regret...Needless to say, Dee was unhappy this morning.
She headed up the hallway, noting the smile on Fin's face. Her beautiful Finlay. If it hadn't been for him, Dee might have easily found herself staring at the bottom of a bottle this morning. "Hey..no..I haven't seen her." She replied.
Fin was over excited about the park cleanup, something Dee was on board with, but her current mood had darkened everything. "Yeah, sure.." She said, giving him the best smile she could. She turned to open her locker, throwin her books inside, not that they mattered much anyway. She was never gonna be anything but an ex junkie with no future.

"What's the matter?" Fin could tell something was bothering his girlfriend, but he hadn't any idea what it could be. Had she and Annie had a falling out? But Annie got along with everyone, and he was blind enough to assume that everyone would be able to overlook Delilah's past. He had wanted to discuss the plans for tomorrow, but figuring out what was wrong with Dee was more important. After he'd discovered the source of her sad smile, then he could return to making plans for litter clean up tomorrow.
Blonde eyebrows rose in shock as she tossed her belongings carelessly into the locker, "Hey, what'd those books ever do to you?" He asked in what was meant as a teasing tone, "Other than conspire with the teachers to take up all your free time..." He wrapped an arm around her waist, pulling the dark-haired girl close. "C'mon, it's a beautiful day out," if one liked overcast, grey skies, anyway, "And you're beautiful." That, at least, couldn't be contradicted by anyone with eyes.
"We can skip out for lunch," He suggested, hoping that would make her feel better. His father wouldn't approve if he ever learned of his son skipping, but there was only one class after lunch, so it wouldn't be like he was skipping the whole day.
