She was taken by Marlina Cross who has schizophrenia and believes God told her to take Lana to protect her. Lana was never harmed by her ‘mother’, but she didn’t receive the affection and nurturing she needed, often being ignored for days at a time.
Lana doesn't know that she has a twin brother, she always assumed that she is an only child and his never been told otherwise. She hasn’t been allowed to do much in her life. Her mother’s paranoia kept her at home most of the time.
Her old school was shut down and now Lana will be attending Silver, at least once they open it again.

Writing Sample: Jeran received the phone call from the TV studio with ambivalence.
It was a way that he could help his best friend… well if he won that
is. But to be put into close proximity with the other cast members
for however long this was going to take, that made his frightened he
would be outted on national television. He set aside his worries
however and began to make his final arrangements before leaving. He
had a final dinner with his parents who were not thrilled with his
decision to be on a reality show. He had to listen to a lecture on
how vulgar those types of shows were.
After that Jeran packed a variety of clothing as they had not been
informed where the show would take place. He also packed some CDs
that were his favorites into his carryon bag along with his personal
player and headphones: Aerosmith, Queen, Led Zeppelin and Foreigner.
Personal care items and a book for the flight also went in this bag.
He had a night flight so it was not long before his parents called
up to him that it was time to go. He was a bit surprised that they
had not just sent him with a driver, but he appreciated their
efforts.
They traveled through the night and put him on the plane. Jeran
sighed as they fussed because his tickets were coach and allowed
them to upgrade them to first class just to shut them up. He was
able to board immediately and gave up on reading. Instead he
listened to music and fell asleep, his long legs stretched out on
the reclining seat.
