Cameron walked around his fancy Aston Martin for the third time...but what felt like the millionth. Cameron didn't know much about cars. In fact he didn't know anything. He hadn't even had his license for very long. But when he'd gotten it, he'd picked out a very nice car.... Aston Martin's had been his favorite since they'd been used as Bond cars. Plus they were just so classy looking...you couldn't go wrong...
But something had gone wrong. Cameron was on his way to work after school. Although his family made enough money that he didn't need to work, Cameron enjoyed working. He worked at the Planetarium at the Griffith Observatory and absolutely loved it. That also combined with the fact that Cameron was unnaturally bright. He was a genius in fact. And someone with the brain power he had, needed to keep busy, which he did with his vast array of extra curricular activities, his job, and Haley of course, who he liked occupying his time with the most. But today he had work scheduled of course. Only his car had stopped working...
He'd called AAA but they seemed to be taking his sweet old time. So until then, Cameron leaned up against his fancy car and waiting for someone to get him unstranded....

Bree drove along intending on investigating a new bookstore she had heard about. She was in the last car her father had purchased, a Ferrari F430 Spider in midnight black with a tan leather interior. The top was down as she enjoyed the prestorm weather. She saw a really pretty Aston Martin on the side of the road with a guy leaning against it. She was about to pass but she recognized him from the stands at Cheerleading practice. He was dating one of the Silver girls.
Bree pulled over and waved. "Hey! You need a lift somewhere?" she called. She wasn't much for school rivalry especially now that they were all sharing space. "I'm Bree Marcus. I go to Gould." She smiled and waited for an answer. "It looks like its going to rain soon."

Cameron watched as the pretty girl pulled up in the fancy convertible...asking him if he wanted a ride... It was like something out of a movie...something that would have never happened to him before. But now he had Haley and he had a license and a cool car. He was cool now. And he liked it.
Cam smiled at her. "Thanks, I appreciate that," he said. "But I need to wait for the toe truck... I called them but I honestly don't know if they are coming," he explained. "I don't really have anywhere to go anyway. I was heading to work but I called out due to the car trouble. It's a shame really...I rarely have time to work anymore," he said. "But thank you, Bree Marcus that goes to Gould. I'm Cameron Whitlock--I go to Silver," he said, running his fingers through his messy curls.
Part of him wondered what Haley would say if the toe truck shoes up in time and he did take the ride. Would she be mad? Bree was pretty but he wasn't interested in her. How could he be interested in any girl when he had one like Haley. However, he had to admit, the attention was nice...if that's even what it was....

Bree looked down the long stretch of highway and saw no incipient tow trucks coming. She thought it would be a shame if she left and the truck never came. "Would you like some company while you wait? I was just going to check out the new book store and then pick up some things for my brunch on Saturday, so I am not in a hurry. Then if the truck doesn't come I could take you to a garage."
She recognized Cameron's name. He was in the same social stratus that she had grown up in. He looked more like a Jazz musician than a country club sycophant. Her Father would have hated him. Bree suddenly liked him a lot more. She turned a brilliant smile on him. "I really would like to help you out, I am short one good deed today."
She wondered if he were the kind of guy that might be interested in helping with her new obsession. He would be likely to have the kind of connections that would be useful when it came to the fund raising necessary.

"Uh...okay," Cam said, surprised by her offer. He was honestly surprised by the kindness because he really wasn't used to it. Part of him wondered if she had a thing for him or something, but dismissed the idea because it wasn't as if they knew one another. Then again, before Haley Cam tended to latch onto every pretty girl that was nice to him. But now that he had Haley he didn't need to do that. "Thanks," he smiled.
He waited until she pulled over and got into the passenger seat of her car. Although his parents would have probably recognized his name as she recognized his, Cam was mostly oblivious to those things. His parents were the socialites...he didn't really care. Okay, maybe that was a lie, maybe he did care about status but for him it wasn't money that ruled that. After all, Cam had always had money but he'd never been popular because of it. So he didn't think that one necessarily was in correlation with the other. "Ah, good deeds, that's very noble of you," he said as he settled into the seat. "So you really do good deeds every day?" he asked, looking at her sideways. If that was true she was one of those rare people that really were probably too nice for their own good. He couldn't help but wonder how many people returned her favors. With that thought, Cam decided that he would make a point to do something nice for her the first change he got.
"So what else do you do for fun besides good deeds?" he asked, in an attempt to make conversation. After all, he didn't know how long it was before the toe truck came and the last thing he wanted was to be forced to sit in awkward silence the whole time.

Bree reached over and opened the door for him. She kept the stereo on low so it wouldn't make them have to yell. "You're welcome," she said a bit amused as she could almost hear the gears grinding as he wondered why she was being so nice. Most people assumed because she was a cheerleader and wasn't a bimbo then she must be a snob, which was far from the truth, she was just rather quiet and introspective.
"I miss a few days, but I do try to do at least something kind once a day even if it is just something minor. Right now I am working on a big one that is taking me more than one day to accomplish. It's because of the shooting. I want to do something that might make a difference," Bree said with a glance at him to see if he believed her. "That's why I am having a Brunch on Saturday. I am trying to recruit helpers. Do you know anyone that might want to help us?" She gave him her most charming smile.
"Fun... well I am a cheerleader and I also like to read. I also play the Cello, make stained glass and weave. But lately I haven't had as much time for fun since my father passed away and I am spending time learning to run his businesses," she said, unable to drum up an appropriate grief stricken expression, though she did manage not to shout out in joy.

"Wow, that's pretty crazy," Cam admitted when she was talking about her good deeds. "Not crazy in a bad way, a good way, trust me--it's just not something you hear every day, ya know? I feel like in high school especially its hard to find people like that. Perhaps college is better," he shrugged, "I suppose I'll find out soon enough." Not that he was excited for college. He used to be but now...not so much. He'd done an early acceptance to MIT which was something he had thought he wanted...to go to Boston and get away from everyone. But now he had Haley and he didn't want to leave for school in the fall. He wondered if it was too late to apply to some of the UC schools...he'd have no problem getting in of course, he just wasn't sure when their deadlines were.
"Something that would make a difference...that would probably be really good especially in loo of recent events," he nodded when she mentioned the shooting. "I might know some people," he said with a shrug figuring he could try and talk Haley into it or maybe Wynn...Cam might have found himself back in the good graces of some people but he was still by no means popular. Haley was though and if getting Haley to recruit all her friends would help Bree that seemed like an excellent way to thank her for her generosity. "What exactly are you trying to do?" he asked, figuring he should get the details before committing.
"Wow and I thought I had a busy schedule," Cam said with a laugh when she went on about the things she liked to do. "Oh I'm sorry to hear that," he mentioned about her father, she didn't quite seem upset about it but everyone handled grief in different ways, he supposed. "What kind of business is that?" he asked, wondering if her family ran some big company or something. Whatever it was, she was wealthy, that was for sure. Her car proved that.

Bree smiled, realizing it was true, since her father died she had become a lot more focused. "It takes people different roads and different lengths of time to come to the point where they want to be serious about something or some people have life circumstances holding them back. "I haven't decided whether I want to go to college or not. It would probably make me more rounded, but I don't need to... I am already ahead," she said with a smile that bordered on smug though it was a simple statement of fact.
She locked eyes with Cameron, obviously serious and motivated about her obsession. "My project is to try to help the kids before they become gang members. We can lock down our schools and search for weapons but all we are really doing is imprisoning ourselves. So I want to build a place where inner city kids can go and have fun, maybe learn things, like tae kwon do not as a way to hurt people but to learn the spiritual values too. A place where good behavior will be rewarded and misbehavior will get them banned for a time. There are a few places like that, but they are terribly underfunded like most government projects are. Maybe if this works well we can add a scholarship program for the most motivated kids. What do you think?" Oddly enough this near stranger was the first person Bree had actually talked seriously about her obsession with.
"Well my father was an executive at MGM, but he also owned some businesses. Mostly rental and vacation properties, but also some small businesses he bought that were in trouble and he intended to turn around and sell at a profit, I am most interested in the hotels so I am interning at the Bryhurst Hotel in Santa Monica, which is one of the ones I own now," she said, thinking she suddenly felt tired after listing everything she had been doing lately. She could just hear the school counselor who would say she was working so hard to avoid dealing with her father's death. That was a laugh, maybe to keep from jumping from joy and behaving inappropriately.

"I see," Cameron said nodding. "I guess for me college was always in the books. And I do want to go...I'm just afraid I made the wrong choice. I used to want to get as far away from LA as possible. I didn't even want to look at schools in this area but now I'm second guessing that I guess." Things did change in life that changed their decisions. Was it stupid and emotional to want to stay in LA because his girlfriend still had another year of school...it probably was, but Cam knew that long distance would be no good. If he wanted to stay with Haley, he'd have to stick around next year.
Cameron simply nodded and listened when she explained the project. She sounded really passionate about it and it wasn't a terrible idea either. I mean maybe it would take awhile to get at risk kids to actually go there...actually use that instead of hanging around and doing the things they usually did...but if she was successful it could have a real impact on the community. "I will talk to my girlfriend about it," Cam promised, "she's pretty popular so if she can get her friends to join in and help...well that would be a lot of helpers," he explained. "I can help too of course...if you need and donations to get it started...or once it is started I could probably help tutor or something," he offered.
"I see," Cam nodded again as she explained the business. So she was in the real estate game. It was something that Cameron had never been particularly interested in but he knew was a lucrative profession. "An internship too...wow you certainly are busy," he commented. "What kinds of things do you do at your internship?" he asked, adding, "I've got to admit that I know where you're coming from though," he said. "I don't need to have a job but I refuse to quit because I like working at the Griffith Observatory," he explained. It really was too bad he wouldn't make it to work today though although he knew they had it all covered without him. They had been very understanding when he'd called and told them he was having car troubles.

Bree nodded. "Well if its too late to get in around here, you could always defer entering for a year, maybe work at the observatory in independent study. It just depends on how flexible your college is, but a year of work experience never goes to waste," she said, turning so she faced him and put her feet on the console where the stick shift was, resting against the drivers side door.
"Well I would appreciate any help that any of you can give me. I know this is ambitious for someone my age to undertake and I really would like it to be a Memorial from our school," she said as she rummaged in her purse and found an invitation to the brunch. She handed it to him with a smile. "Invite any of them that would like to come, just let me know by Friday who is coming."
"I think it's great that you have found a job you love already. I am sure that it is very important to be passionate about your work and love doing it. My father was successful and made a lot of money, but I think that dissatisfaction twisted him somehow. He was never truly happy," she revealed more to him than she ever did to any but her close friends Sloane and Tyler. She might not have been real specific, but she was normally completely closed mouth about anything to do with her dead father.
