Thank goodness, someone else was not as knowledgeable about their future as she was, "I agree. I have no idea what I want to do with the rest of my life besides being a mother. Although my family might have some ideas, as of now I am content with just passing Secondary school, or ummm High school as they call it here." Alex told Theo. Although she did not really need to worry about passing, but she still had no idea what to major in and thank god, she still had a year before college.
"You were born deaf, my word, that is fascinating. I hope you do not take offense to that, but it is amazing. How does it feel now that you have the implant?" Alex was very curious. She felt he had over come something. It was true they say you do not miss what you never had, but now he had his hearing, so the questions was how did he feel about it. "I can honestly say for most of my life I have lived in a bubble. My family protected me from the outside world. I have never met anyone who was born deaf, or was paralyzed, or has some other physical disablement. My family is rather how shall I say discriminating. Tis one reason i have decided to come live with my aunt, besides coming here for my son. I would rather not live in the environment."
Alex was a firm believer in that. While her father might not like people who are different, she had no problem with it. Besides Theo was not different at all. Sure he was born deaf, but how did that make him different exactly.

Theo smiled at her showing that he wasn't at all bothered by her question, "Its strange, I was so used... to the silence of my life without the implant, I'm not exactly sure... it gives me the same kind... or range that hearing people get... but I can hear things for the first... time in my life." he said to her. "Once I get past the fact that it causes me headaches... I think its just the fact that I'm not used... to it yet." he said to her. "The doctors have told me that its working... perfectly... fine and that I'm.... still adjusting to it." he said to her.
"Well at least you don't share your parents... views on it then, people who are... disabled live there lives like the rest of the world... for the most party anyway." he said to her with a smile. "I'm no different to any one else... well accept for the fact... I can barely make entire sentences... at the moment anyway... but that will come with time." he added. "I just have to be patient... something I have never been... in my life." he told her checking his watch. "I should be going..." he said to her as he stood up. "It was very nice talking to you Alex... nice to meet Kai." he said to her, he walked over to Kai tapping him on the shoulder. "I have to go now." he said to the boy who smiled back at him as he waved and head back to his car.
