Character Name: Jonah Finn
Nickname: None
Age: 15
Birthday: 4th July
Place of birth: Los Angeles
School: Gould
Grade: Sophomore
Appearance: Basic info
Height: 5'10"
Eye Color: Dark brown
Hair Color: Dark brown
Jonah has a clean unblemished babyish face, still a little chubby with baby fat softening the edges of his jaws.
His deep-set dark brown eyes are always a little darker, always framed in a perpetual frown except for the occasional sparkle it gets when he's amused by something. Usually something on TV or something he read.
He has a blunt-tipped sharp nose and full lips set in a thin line. On the rare occasions that he smiles, a deep dimple on his left cheek would appear giving him an almost innocent look despite his character.
His dark brown hair is longish and is usually combed down flat at the back with the front pushed up. But sometimes, everything is just flattened down because he wears caps and hoodies.
He hides his quite defined body in baggy hoodies, t-shirts with smart quips and baggy pants or jeans.
He's not quite goth, nor is he part of the stoner group but he lingers around with those crowds so his dressing usually mimics those stereotypes.
Personality: Jonah doesn't like fitting in nor does he like to stand out. At least that's what he thinks even though his entire life revolves around rebelling against everything he should be following.
Growing up with an abusive father, he tries really hard to get rid of any evidence of home inflicted bruises by banging himself up pretty bad outside of home with his bunch of friends. Since he was a minor, he didn't have to be sentenced to anything more than community service and he usually ended up in the same hospital doing the same thing over and over again. That doesn't stop him from doing it all over again.
He's strong willed (stubborn) and does everything to get what he wants. He's uncouth and very straightforward. He doesn't spare anyone at all. Growing up without real parental figures, he's never been exposed to manners and thus not really knowing how he should behave.
He learned to become independent; cooking for himself, paying the bills, doing the house chores. Although his means of acquiring money for the bill and groceries are quite questionable, he's glad that until now he hasn't been caught.
Town Area: Compton
Job: None
Transportation: Public Transportation
Family Background and History: Father Steven Finn - 48
Mother Diane Gruyer - Deceased
Diane died giving birth to Jonah and for the first two years of his life, his father had to give him to Jonah's aunt and grandmother and when they gave him back to his dad, Steven at first thought he could handle taking care of his son but as the years passed by and as Jonah started to resemble his mother bit by bit, Steven started to beat him up. He started to blame the young boy for his wife's death. And he was clever enough to hide the bruises where no one could see them.
Although once he hit Jonah too much and too hard that the boy was an inch away from death as he was rushed to the hospital. Luckily he survived but Steven did not think so and continued to beat Jonah up and is still beating him up.
Steven was an alcoholic as well and most of what he earns as a security guard at the local mall is squandered on booze.
Jonah has never known much compassion throughout his life except that brief stint during his stay with his aunt and grandmother who no longer visit him.

Writing Sample: "I think I'm in love with her." The flushed look on his face told me everything without him even saying it. I was doomed. The boy I have been pining for was in love with my sworn enemy.
"Who?" intelligent me feigned ignorance, hoping he would catch the hint that I was not in the mood to talk. Thick-headed him continued. "Leia. I'm in love with Leia. Help me, girl!"
She has a name and I'm...girl?
"What do you want?" I'm quite surprised and very proud of the fact that despite everything that was happening, I was still under control; cool and calm.
"Talk to her for me. I mean you're girls...you talk don't you?" he asked. Thickheaded idiot.
If by talk you mean gouging each other's eyes out and ripping each other's hair and clothes apart then yeah sure we talk...a LOT.
"Yeah we talk." I answer simply. And then the puppy dog eyes come out; those light blue irises surrounded by intense black, hands up in a clasped manner, full lips pouting.
Uh oh. No...don't succumb to his every whim like you always do whenever that look surfaces. Oh girl, give yourself some respect. Where is your dignity and pride? Don't say yes...girl don't...say...
"Sure, I'll talk to her."
No...
His whole body visibly lights up; his eyes shine, his smile widens, the hands come up to my head and ruffle my hair, just like petting a puppy. My God. I am his bitch.
I single-handedly brought the term puppy love to a whole new level.
Great.
