Sunar had discovered Tae's locker, but alas, she wasn't there. He had confirmed that she hadn't been injured during the shooting, but he had been unable to spend any time with her, thanks to his parents and their annoying insistance that he and Daja stay in, lest they be targets of violence. He didn't think that was all that likely, but what was he to do in the face of parental authority? So he had stayed inside, playing Neopets and drawing fanart all week long. He had very briefly talked with Connor, but the other boy was apparently distracted by boyfriend -- Sunar was curious, but decided that "Who is he, who is he, do I know him!" was a little too nosy, and had refrained from pestering his friend with questions. So apparently his friend didn't need help getting boys. He, however, hadn't had much luck with Tae. If he saw her at all, he would try and ask her out, instead of just hinting around that he might be interested maybe.
Still, she apparently wasn't going to show up at her locker, no matter how long he lingered there, so he turned to go, distraught, when someone caught his eye -- someone long-haired and adorable and that he absolutely had to draw. Without a moment's thought he whipped out his notepad and pencil, scrutinizing the other somewhat androgynous individual and adding some prelimenary lines to a blank sheet of paper. Hmm, the mouth was a pretty prominent feature....ah, dangit, he was turning away!!
"Hey, hold still!" Sunar ordered, concentrating on his sketch, "I'm trying to draw you, here!"

Dare who had gotten the books he would need for the next couple of hours had just started to turn to head to the cafeteria when he heard someone say to stay still. They had to mean him there wasn't really anyone else there. He froze and then heard the young man say he was drawing him. "Hey could you draw me in the cafeteria instead? I seriously need caffeine or I may start wall crawling in my first class," he said with a light laugh though he was totally serious. His one real vice was coffee and it was truly an addiction.
Dare looked close and saw a somewhat dark young man with a sketch book and pencil. He gave one of his 'glad to know you' smiles, but didn't move until he was given permission. Dare was wearing a pair of jeans that were cutoff just past his knees and a tie-dye tee shirt with the Green Peace organization log on the front.

Sunar glanced down at his sketchbook, then up at the blonde boy – for though he appeared somewhat androgynous physically, his voice was definitely male – and nodded. “The cafeteria,” He agreed. Some people kind of freaked out when they realized he was drawing them, and some people were pleased and took it as a compliment, but very few people reacted in such a blasé manner.
He trailed the long-haired boy into the cafeteria, chattering as he did so. “So, I don’t think I’ve seen you around before, are you new? Oh, wait, you must be from Silver, right? Do you like Gould so far? Well, except for…you know…it isn’t always like that,” He continued, trying not to dwell too much on the horrors of last week. Sierra was no longer alive, along with others he didn’t know. It was such a tragedy. He wasn’t really sure how to deal with it, so he tried not to think about it too much. Still, the reminders were there.
“I’m Sunar, by the way. Sunar Chugani, I’m a junior.” He explained, “I have a sister, she’s a senior, if you see a girl in a Sari that’s her, her name is Daja, she’s pretty insane, but you know, sisters!” He shrugged, as though everyone ought to understand just how unreasonable sisters could be. “Okay, are you ready now? I want to finish this picture before first period!”

Dare got his coffee and sweetened it to a diabetes threatening level and then went to sit on one of the tables. "This okay?" he asked and tried to assume basically the same pose he would have had in the hallway.
"I'm not really new. I was here about a month in the fall, but then got called away to help out with a family situation. I just got back on Monday last week. Really bad timing. I just got a walking cast on from where I was shot. Its a relief not to need crutches again," he shared.
"Oh I think I have seen your sister in the halls, she is very beautiful. Hi, Sunar, my name is Dare Madison. Let me know if I need to shift or anything." Dare might be gay but he could tell when a girl was attractive.

"No, no, stay where you are," Sunar ordered, alternating between staring at Dare and staring at his sketch, "Dare, huh, yeah, your timing really did suck, didn't it? And it sucks even more if you're gonna put the moves on Daja, because she's engaged. And happy about it," He added, shaking his head in disbelief. "I keep waiting for the parents to spring an arranged marriage on me, but they've been smart and stayed away from that, cause I wouldn't go along with it."
Dark eyes moved back down to the other boy's leg, "You got shot? Really??" He couldn't help but sound a little curious; he wondered what it was like, to actually be shot. "That must've hurt," He stated, "I mean, that's kind of obvious, isn't it? Can't believe your parents let you come back to school, when that's the first thing that happens when you come back, mine were hardly ready to let us come back anyway, and we've been here forever, and neither of us got shot, thankfully. Daja and I argue but...you know, Sierra was killed, I still can't believe it, her baby sister is taking it so hard, and I don't really blame her at all. Finished!"
He handed Dare his sketch to scrutinize, "At least, the lines are finished, if I wanted to make it look good I'd have to clean it up, maybe color it or something, but still, it's you! What d'you think?"

Dare laughed. "I am glad she is engaged and happy about it. She is very beautiful, but not my type at all," he said, his eyes shining. "I don't think I would like an arranged marriage either. My Dad's tastes aren't anything like mine." He would probably end up with a bubble-headed blonde and he liked slender young men with dark hair and cynical intelligence.
"Being shot... At first it was more like a burning, then after the shock wore off it hurt really badly. I thought I was going to pass out, then the stitches were agony despite the novocaine, anyway it wasn't fun," Dare said softly, his eyes darkening with memories.
"I am sorry about your friend's loss. I lost my mom when I was six so I kind of understand how her sister is feeling, it gets easier but it takes time," he sympathized and then took the sketch he was handed. Dare's face lit up. "This is really good! It's hard to believe you did that in only a few minutes," he enthused. He was really amazed recognizing Sunar as a kindred spirit to him, the only difference being their medium of expression.

"Ahhh," Sunar breathed, "I'm sorry," Well, six was a long time ago, but Dare seemed to be sad about it, and that was the only thing he could think of to say. As much as he fought with his parents and his sister, he loved them all and wouldn't want anything to happen to them; he knew that Sierra and Ezmeralda were always butting heads, like he and Daja, but the pain on poor Ezzie's face....it was too much. And Pepe, too, but Pepe was a grade older and Sunar hadn't really seen him as much as the two girls.
He was glad of a chance to change the subject back to drawing. "It's not that great," He denied, "If I'd spent more time...." He shrugged. He had wanted to finish it all in one go, rather than working on it in between classes, because if he hadn't finished it immediately he would have lost interest and steam. He was just so into it at that moment, he had to get it out of his system.
"You can keep it, if you want," He offered; he didn't know what he would do with it, otherwise. Probably it would end up thrown away, with so many other sketches he'd started on a whim but not turned into anything greater. "Maybe one day I'll draw a better one..." He mused. Probably; he couldn't help but try and draw everyone he knew, and some he didn't. "Do you draw?"

"Well I think it is great especially for how quickly you got it done," Dare enthused, not letting Sunar downplay his talent. "Thank you, I would love to keep this and if you want to do another one later, let me know. My dad might even pay you for a portrait.
"Oh no, I cannot draw. I am a musician... I think all my talent lies there. Do you take art lessons outside of school? My dad taught me about music... well the basics and then I have met a lot of great musicians throughout my life that worked with me," Dare said feeling very comfortable with discussing their respective mediums with his new acquaintance.
