It was weird being back in Gould when he had spent almost two months in Colorado. Cassius looked around as he saw new faces and old. He reckoned Silver students were around again, which would explain the new faces. He went straight to his locker and whirled in his combination before getting opening it to get his books. After getting his schedule from the principal's office and a little chat with the man himself, Cas wondered if he was going to be the new kid all over again.
Heading straight to his Home Ec class, he passed by a few people who were surprised he was still in school. "Dude I thought you transferred to another county!"
"I thought I heard that you were suspended. I mean, I didn't believe it how could you be suspended? You're one of the nicest guys I know."
"Didn't you move?"
"You're still alive?"
Those were the few reactions he got when those he knew passed him. It was enlightening as well as sad. He figured what the hell, at least they actually remembered him.
When he finally arrived in his class, he was actually quite glad no one was around. He picked the seat right at the back and settled himself on the benches. He took out his notebook and started to scribble down the introduction to a potential story.
Soon, with his head bent in concentration, he was lost in his writing.

With a pop of her bubble gum, Candy strutted down the halls of Gould listening to some early disco roller skating song. It was one of the things that made her feel good, aside of seeing the face of a young girl getting "big girl earrings" for the first time.
She had talked to the home ec teacher a few days earlier, knowing she would miss this afternoon's class due to getting to sit in on a case that her father was working on. One stipulation was that she had to have her homework in before the day.
She reached the home ec room, and entered unaware that someone else was there. She sat down in a chair and waited for the teacher, she felt her phone vibrate.
"Hello? Yeah hey I was about to call you." She started in on a conversation with someone who sounded like Minnie Mouse. She slouched back in the chair listening to her friend carry on. She wondered how she got into the plastics in the first place. "Sorry to interrupt you but I have to." She cut her friend off mid-sentence.
She hung up her phone and shook the "webs" from her head. She turned around and saw the kid sitting in the back. "You ever wonder why people feel the need to shout in their phones?"

Natalie felt slightly better today. She still felt a little pathetic, but meeting up with Bree yesterday had definitely helped. And with the spa treatments she definitely felt rejuvenated. It was just what she needed...well...it at least had helped get her mind off things for a bit.
Her now ex-boyfriend had tried to call her again last night...maybe to apologize...maybe not...she didn't know. She hadn't answered and she wasn't going to answer any of his calls. She was going to do this. New city...new life. Sure, part of her would always be a Texas girl...her cowboy boots and fringe vest proved that. But she was going to put the rest of her old life behind her...or at least she would try to. No more being home sick...she was going to try and adjust to LA life once and for all.
Natalie stopped at her locker before heading to her first period home-ec class. She was a little on the early side but figured it would be good to sit back and collect her thought some more before class started and she was on the go for the rest of the day. Walking into the room she saw one boy there...one that she didn't recognize. Perhaps there was another new kids...that would mean she was no longer the new kid...which could be a good thing she supposed. She'd been the new kid for about a month now and was ready for it to be over.
The new kid seemed to be concentrating on whatever he was working on, so she stayed quiet, trying not to disturb him. She quietly headed towards her normal seat which was a few seats over from where he was sitting, however as she passed his desk, she accidentally bumped him with her bag. "Oops...sorry," she said, hoping she hadn't disturbed him too much.

Scribbling furiously in his notebook, he didn't notice the girl with the chewing gum. Nor did he notice the one in cowboy boots until the latter bumped into him with her bag. His head snapped up and he looked around. For a second, he didn't even register what the cowgirl had said let alone the one with the chewing gum, who had been there first and had asked him the question.
Cas was not good around girls. He knew how to talk to them, he wasn't some dweeb who had troubles in conversing with girls but he just didn't know exactly how to act around girls. And these two were beautiful ones. Really beautiful. And blond. And...perky.
His eyes went to the first blonde and grinned sheepishly. "I honestly have no idea why they would ever have that need. I mean, unless they were wizards who didn't know what a fellytone was...then I would understand." His reference to Harry Potter was made on a whim and something he wished he could take back. Was it an amateur move to reveal how big of a movie geek he was so early into a conversation? The girl now probably thought he wasn't worth talking to.
He turned to the cowgirl and his smile softened a little. "It's okay really. Um...I'm Cas." He introduced himself, reaching a hand out to her. He turned to the first blond with a nod, hoping she'd understand that the introduction was not only for the girl in the cowboy boots.

Natalie smiled when they boy said it was okay, glad that she hadn't disturbed him too much. As she took her seat, also in the back--since she'd switched schools she found herself sitting in the back a lot. Back in Texas she usually would sit wherever her friends sat but since she was still getting to know people here and was often didn't have a friend in her classes she liked sitting secluded in the back.
Another girl turned around and asked about a phone. People screaming into them. Natalie just shrugged. "I suppose sometimes the volume is too low on some people's phones. When they can't hear you very well, they assume the person on the other end can't hear very well either," she said. "Although I guess some older people just aren't used to the technology causing them to scream..." That's how it was with Natalie's grandparents. They had cell phones but they hated using them and when they did she often had to hold the phone away from her ear because they'd scream so loud. She didn't like it either because usually she'd have to scream back at them so they'd hear her. She'd tried talking at a normal volume but it hadn't worked out very well.
The boy introduced himself and Natalie smile. "Nice to meet you, Cas," she said, adding, "sorry again for bumping you." Natalie was the type of girl who often apologized too much for things. "I"m Natalie," she said. "You're not usually in this class--are you new here?" she asked.

Turning away from the first blond with the question about telephones, Cas smiled and chuckled politely when the blonde cowgirl started talking about people with hearing problems and old people. "My grandfather usually never knows who he's calling and he has a hearing problem so he's always going "Eh? Sonny boy? Who is that on the phone? Eh? Speak up!" really loudly. Repeatedly." Cas grinned as he recounted the last time his uncle got a call from Cas' grandfather.
When the cowgirl introduced herself as Natalie and apologised for bumping into him, Cas shook his head and held a hand up. "It's quite alright, Natalie. You didn't do much harm. I was just scribbling down some stuff." He shrugged nonchalantly. Natalie's question about him being new made Cas shake his head. "I'm not new at all." He answered with a short laugh. "I just went away for a couple of months to Colorado for a course." He didn't mention the fact that the course was a free writing program as a prize for winning an interstate essay competition awhile back. He decided that it would sound a tad pretentious if he started to blurt out his insignificant accomplishments.
"How about the both of you? I don't think I've ever seen either of you before in this class?" He smiled at both the girls. He wondered if the first girl suddenly dropped her interest in the conversation. Would be a pity if she did. Both the girls were really cute in Cas' opinion and it would be something if he managed to befriend both of them.

Candy's position went from turned around in the chair to sitting on the desk facing the other two people. The boy was cute enough and the girl had real possibilities, she had her own look going on which in Candy's mind meant she had taste.
She giggled, "A fellytone? I like that it goes up there with Heffalumps and Woozles." She really had no idea it was a Harry Potter reference. She popped another bubble. "If I may ask is Cas short for something?"
"This girl's voice is grating to start with. She sounds like she swallowed a helium tank or something and is trying to let all the gas out." She was mused at her little description of the phone girl. "And the whats worse, she talks like everything she's says is a question." There was a sigh. "But there always has to be one."
There was another pop of the gum. So there was Cas and Natalie. "I should introduce myself, I'm Candace or just call me Candy."
"I'm actually here during the last hour but I won't be around today, I have to go listen to my father rip a criminal a new one."

Eden watched as the other girl moved to join them in the back, going on about well, a lot of different things. She seemed really friendly which was something that Natalie really appreciated. Natalie was usually overly friendly too but she was still down about her breakup so she was still a little subdued.
"A class...what was it on?" Natalie asked looking over at the boy when he mentioned it. "I just moved to LA about a month ago," she explained. "What about you Candy?" she asked. "I don't think I have any classes with you." That explained why she didn't know her in Natalie's mind. It didn't really occur to her that the girl might go to Silver.
She simply nodded when Candy mentioned the whole criminal thing. Natalie's dad owned a car dealership so she never really had had any reason to leave school for his job. She wasn't sure what to really say about it anyway. The only words that really came to her mind were 'thats good' and those were far to lame to udder so Natalie stuck to her simple nod figuring if Candy wanted to elaborate, she could.

Candy's contribution to the conversation was not missed by Cas as he listened to her start talking about the girl she was probably on the phone with prior to her question to Cas earlier. When she asked about his name, he hesitated a bit. Cassius was just not a name he wanted anyone to know him by. His mother was the only person who called him by his full name and that was only when she was mighty angry with him.
"It's uh...it's Cassius." He said quietly with a shy smile. She introduced herself as Candy and when she mentioned her father's job inadvertantly, Cas' smile widened. Now wasn't that interesting? "Are you your father's assistant?" he asked.
When Natalie asked him about the course he had taken, he answered honestly but left out the part about the competition. "Writing course. I've been interested in writing for the longest time so when opportunity knocked on my door, I couldn't just pass up the chance you know?"
So Natalie had just moved last month, no wonder Cas had never seen her before. But what about Candy? Had she always been in this class and he just hadn't noticed? He sure hoped that wasn't the case.
