Jem sat at the table, doing her best to drown out the noise around her. She was picking at a salad because she had decided that she needed to go on a diet. She hated Monday's. Like most people did. They could be a good judge of how the whole week went. If Monday started off well the rest of the week stood a good chance, it Monday sucked, the rest of your week was doomed. Her day thus far...was about 50/50. It still could go either way.
Otep had been kind of going through the motions of the day. She hadn't had a nightmare since... about 3 days ago. But she was doing good so far. She hadn't fallen asleep in class today and figured that was a good thing. Ok... so far so good. She walked up to her locker and put her books in it. She wore a pair of green plaid pants and a lime green tank with army boots and her dior sunglasses on top of her head. Her hair loosely tied up in a messy yet sexy pony tail. No make up, today. She was well on her way to meet Jem for lunch. She got Jem in sight, smiled and walked toward her. She knew she didn't see her for she was not even looking up. She wondered if she was having a bad day or something. Then... it was as if the devil possessed someone... her ass was grabbed. She jumped about ten feet in the air before whipping around to see who the hell had the right mind to grab her like that. She looked like she saw a ghost as she lost all color in her face. "Hey there, cutie." said a small red head. Otep's eyes widened to about the size of... Garfield's... and she dropped her jaw. She couldn't even speak.

Jem was lost in her own little world. Picking at her salad, and flipping through a fashion magazine. Dogearing pages with things she liked. May be looks she would like to recreate or what not.
"Say something?" the girl said. "What the hell are you doing here?" Otep finally asked, getting her voice back. "I moved here with my mom... like three days ago." she said with a smile. Otep looked at her with a sort of... lost look. "Ok at least act like you missed me." she said. Otep stood still. Tense. So the girl finally hugged her. She wasn't sure what to do at that point... so she stood there... what the hell was happening?
Someone walking by had bumped into the table Jem was sitting at. That had gotten her attention and she glanced up to see who it was and to gve him an unpleasant look. When she looked up though, she caught sight of Otep. She was kind of hard to miss. She saw her talking to some girl. Then said girl was hugging her. What the hell? But Jem remained cool. She wasn't going to play the jealous card. Not yet. Not till she had reason to.
"Otep. I missed you." the girl said. "Angelina... you never even called me. Ever." Otep said. "You left and I was here to... what? Rot?" she asked. Angelina frowned. "You called me Angelina." she said. Otep lifted a brow. "Did you expect me to call you anything different?" she asked. "You always call me Lee." she said with a little puppy dog noise, her little cute face just getting to Otep like it always had. "Lee... Angelina... I called you Lee while we were dating." she said shaking her head. "Not now." she said looking at her. She frowned again. "We could fix that..." Angelina said running her finger up Otep's defined arm. Otep tensed.
Oh....she had been left suddenly. With no phone calls, nothing. Then turned around and did the same thing to Jem. So not cool. Jem sat still, watching the two. She bit her lip. She was too far away to really try and call to Otep without making a fool of herself.
"No... Angelina... you cheated on me... twice... you cheated on me then left me without so much as a phone call." Otep said. "Well... I'm here now." Angelina said. She got closer to Otep who tensed even more. The first girl she showed her actual no holds barred affection to and she was standing right there... seducing her in the middle of the lunch room. Otep felt like she couldn't even move... her brain was screaming for her body to just... move... to do anything. To push her away... to move her feet and walk in the other direction... but it wasn't working. Otep's mouth opened... but nothing came out and she closed it again. Metal goddess was silenced for once. She couldn't even think. Angelina came close to Otep's lips... whispering to her... seducing her. Otep couldn't help but feel the heat coming from Angelina. *Otep... move... walk away... do SOMETHING!* her brain screamed. And yet? Nothing.
Jem watched the girl move closer to Otep. She could not believe what she was seeing. She found that she couldn't make herself stop watching. She blinked a couple thinking she was making something out of nothing. But no, that girl was mere inches from Otep's face. She just sat and watched in horror.
Otep felt herself shaking at this point. Her legs were going to give out on her at any minute. "Ange..." she stopped herself. Angelina moved closer but Otep leaned backward, almost falling back. She felt herself catching her fall and she shook her head. "No... no you need to leave. Right now." Otep said. "But, baby..." Angelina started. "No... no baby... don't fucking call me baby." she said, her eyes widening.
Jem finally found out how to make her own body move again. She threw her magazine into her bag, and got up. Leaving her half eatten food on the table, and walking towards the nearest exit. She needed to be outside. Fresh air. She needed to breath. She felt like she couldn't because her chest was being squeezed in a vice.
"What's wrong?" Angelina asked. "What's wrong? Ange... You cheat on me... you disappear... and you come back and expect me to be yours still?" she asked. "That's not how it NORMALLY happens..." unless of course you were Otep and Jem. In that case... it happens. But not without sacrifice. "And... I'm taken anyway." she said shaking her head. "And I love her." she said. "What?" Angelina asked. "You found someone else?" she asked. "Yes... someone else... someone... who loves me... someone who won't cheat on me." Otep hoped. "Someone who won't leave me..." she said looking at Angelina. "Who?" she asked. Otep looked at her and then pointed to the now empty table and then looked. "Or... not... where the...?" she looked around. "Ok... she's gone... and I am probably due for some groveling now... heavy groveling... fuck you very much." Otep said shaking her head and running in the direction a kid pointed. "Thanks." she said on the way out. She found Jem. "Babe...?" she asked approaching slowly hoping not to have things thrown at her or something.
Jemima looked up. Trying to be composed and calm. Cool and collected. She looked at Otep, but didn't get close. "Another ex?" she half spat out. "My god, they just keep crawling out of the wood works don't they." she frowned. "Though I must say, I don't believe I've seen you get as close to any of the others as you did...that...one."
"Jem... I... the others were not exes... they were hook ups... I never dated anyone... besides... her." Otep paused. "That's... THE ex." she sighed a little. "I didn't... get close... not... not on purpose... I couldn't even move... i didn't know WHAT to do." she said. "But once I got the feeling back in my legs... I... got away." she said. "Oh yes... she did a very good job of walking away." Angelina said coming around the corner. Otep's eyes widened and she looked behind her. "You need to... go the fuck away. Right now. Just leave." she said. Angelina looked at her like she had three heads. "You need to just leave me alone... you cannot ruin my life... not again..." she said. "Not now." she continued. Angelina frowned a little. "I don't need you waltzing in here like you own me... you don't." Otep said shaking her head. "She does." she said looking at Jem. Angelina scoffed at that. "Yeah ok... what's this normal little girl gonna do for you?" Angelina asked. "Be just that... normal." Otep said. "I don't need another you." she said. "Another me? A model? A fashionista loved by everyone?" she asked. "A diva." Otep corrected. "I don't need it... it's nothing but a headache." she said. Angelina looked at Jem and lifted a brow. "So you just... come in on my territory? And that's ok with you" Angelina asked. "Ange... don't even start." Otep growled.
Jem just stood there watching one girl and then the other. There was alot of tension there. Passion too may be? It was sure something. Was it possible that some part of Otep still held onto feelings for this other girl? Otherwise...why had she not moved away from her sooner, or said something sooner about ...anything. Her, something. "Come into your territory?" Jem laughed a little. "I don't recall seeing..any signs saying it was taken."
Otep huffed a little. "Here we go." Otep whispered to herself. Angelina looked at Otep. "What was that supposed to mean?" she asked. "You fucking start fights with everyone..." Otep shook her head. "Oh like you?" Angelina asked. "Fuck you." Otep swore. She looked to Jem. Angelina followed suit. "Well... she's mine and thats it... you need to leave." she said. Otep lifted a brow. "No... Ange... I'm not yours... I'm hers." Otep said pointing to the ring on Jem's left hand. "That should be mine." Angelina said. "But it isn't... so... leave." Otep said. "You're wrong... you're very wrong... I don't even know you. But you have NO idea what you've gotten yourself into... Otep is a lot to handle... and I don't think you can." she scoffed. "Well she's done well enough for almost two years now..." Otep said.
There were some things in Otep's life and her past that Jem could somewaht get used to. Like the crazy intense pace her life traveled at. The crazy fans the tours. But the crazy ass bitches who were..ex's or hook-ups. Whatever lable she wanted to put on them. That was getting old and hard for Jem to get use to "This is getitng really old, really fast." she frowned.
Otep looked at Jem. "What?" she asked somewhat dismayed.
"All these damn girls...and constantly having to have teh same arguement with them. It's getting old. I can accept a lot of things from your life and your past. But this...constant....battle. Is wearing on me." she was being honest with Otep. She wasn't saying it was over, or she was leaving. NONE of that. Just that she was getting tired of always having to fight with these girls....and she was tempted to get on youtube or something and make a annoucement to the whole world that Otep and she were together. Otep was OFF the market for good.
Otep looked at her... her eyes showed it all. She was scared. Angelina saw it. She looked at Jem and shook her head. "You know what? You can have her... she seems to have gone soft anyway." she said and walked off. Otep lifted a brow. Gone soft? Maybe she had... but only for Jem. "Jem... I'm..." she held tears back as the welled up behind her eyes threatening to come down.
Jem shook her head. "don't...say it." she sighed. She wasn't in the mood to hear, "I'm sorry" or whatever else she might have been plannng on saying.
Otep closed her mouth. She may have been a 16 year old girl but she was so much more mature for her age and she didn't even know. She knew how to handle Otep and not many people did. She knew when to be stern with her and she knew when to be soft with her.
Jem sighed. Ok, that 50/50 day she was having. Just went to 0/100. Meaning it was a bad day. A bad start to the week. Which meant teh rest of the week was going to be hell. "Well, this should help my diet. I have absolutely no appetite now."
Otep looked at her. She remained quiet. What else could she do? She opened her mouth and everything would be so much worse. But she did anyway. "Jem. I know you do not want to hear it but... I love you..." she said before walking off to go sit on the football field.
She was right. She didn't really want to hear any words right now. Words weren't holding much meaning for her at this moment. She closed her eyes a moment and when she opened them again, Otep was walking off. She had a guess where she was going.
Otep sat there on the football field. Something she missed more than most of the activities in school. It was a release of sorts... much different from her music. She sat and thought for a moment. Why the hell did things like this have to happen to her just when things were getting better?
The price you pay for the live style she had been living? That might be one good reason why. Jem just sat outside for a bit. Collecting her thoughts and pulling herself togetehr. May be she would go find Otep.
Otep leaned back on the grass and closed her eyes. Why her? She was on the turn to being successful in her career and now she was well on her way to having the woman she loved as a wife and now this? She might as well have just gone backwards.
Jem slowlly made her way towards the football field. She could see Otpe in distance sitting on teh grass.
She was in her own mind right then. Thinking about things. Whether or not she should just... metaphoricallu disappear. Just... be invisible to everyone... not be... herself. Maybe things wouldn't be so... crazy.
Jem stood on the other side of the gate that led to the field. She just stood there watching Otep. Not sure she was ready to talk to her just yet.
What did she have to do to be... invisible? To not have hook ups and ex's coming from everywhere? She just wanted to be happy with Jem. That was it... and now she... she knew things would be bad. And it was all because of her past. Her uncontrolled, careless past.
Jemima leaned on the gate a bit. Her arms folded and her chin on her arms. As she just stood there. Watching. It didn't feel all that weird or awkward to be just observing.
Otep seemed to be lost in her own world. Her own.. chaos she liked to call her mind. But... she knew someone was there. She knew someone was watching her. And her heart told her it was Jem.
Jem thought she might know, so she let the moment just remain as it were. No sense ruining what seemed to be a good thing at the moment.
Otep looked over her shoulder. She smiled crookedly. No words. Nothing need to be said. She had screwed things up once again. Did she even deserve Jem at that point? She looked up at the sky... slipping back into her own mind once again. Jem was the love of her life and she felt like she failed her in some odd way even though she did tell the girl... why couldn't she just move away from her in the beginning of the conversation? Why did she just stand there?
Jem moved from where she was standing and went up to the bleechers and sat there. Still watching Otep though. Giving her time and space to think.
Otep closed her eyes trying to push thoughts out of her head. Thoughts that she wasn't simply good enough for Jem. Or that she didn't deserve her. That she put her through hell and she didn't need that. "Jem." she spoked finally.
Jem was still there. She hadn't heard her speak. She was just slightly out of ear shot.
Otep turned to look at her but she had moved. She found her immediately on the bleachers and got up going over to the fence, hands in her pocket. "Hey."
"Hey..." Jem said softly and just looked at Otep from her seat on the bleachers.
She couldn't help but worry Jem was thinkin the same things she just was but she didn't want to think any of that. "Look... can we just... can we go home?" she asked her.
Jem eyed her. Go home? Skp the rest of teh school? Might as well. Her attendance record adn grades were going down the drain anyway. "Sure.." she shrugged.
She hopped the fence and offered her hand to her lady and smiled sheepishly.
She hesitated a moment, and then took her hand. but in a fairly loose grip.
Otep led her off of the football field... hesitantly lacing her fingers with Jem. "How about I cook dinner?" she asked.
Otep had been kind of going through the motions of the day. She hadn't had a nightmare since... about 3 days ago. But she was doing good so far.
