[Character: Haley Rowan] [Location: cafeteria]
Haley was almost healed. The wound had really been more of a flesh wound. It did not even require a hospital stay. However, despite being shot Haley had gone to visit Cam, but things were weird. Cam seemed distant for some reason and Haley could not understand why. She did not think she did anything. All Haley could figure was it had something to do with them sleeping together. Haley assumed he was not ready and as too scared to tell her now.
Haley made her way to the lunchroom and took a seat. She actually brought her lunch from home. Spaghetti and meatballs. Yum. it was still warm too. Her father always knew little tricks. It was like super gadgets he bought and stuff. Haley took out her foot and started to eat. Her arm hurt a little if she moved it too much, but other then that it seemed to be find. Thank god there was no cheerleader currently or else this could be a problem.
Haley took out the latest People and began top read it. Some of the stories seemed a little far fetched, but her dad interacted with a ton of these people. Its what being a movie producer was all about, so reading about their dramatic lives was always fun. Haley was minding her own business in her own world that she had no idea someone was even behind her until they tapped her on the shoulder. Haley jumped a little and turned around, "Yes." She asked looking at who ever tapped her.

Nolan was not looking forward to lunch today. It was some weird mass of red, brown, and noodles they tried to pawn off as spaghetti. Coupled with some weak looking green beans and a cake-like dessert bar, Nolan was regretting not bringing his own lunch today. He wandered the cafeteria hoping to find Sloane, but she was nowhere in sight. He still wasn't sure what they were to each other, but he did know that the lingerie party was a night to remember.
Glancing around, he noticed a nearly empty table, occupied only by Haley Rowan. She seemed fairly absorbed into her magazine, but he at least knew her fairly well. With her being a cheerleader and him being a jock, they inevitably ran with the same crowd. The only other options available were with people he didn't know at all and people that weirded him out. It wasn't that he didn't like them, but he wasn't feeling in the mood to be uncomfortable. He walked over to the cheerleader's empty table and tapped her on the back.
“Sorry Haley,” Nolan stepped back, not meaning to have startled her. “Is it cool if I sit here? The cafeteria's kinda crowded.” He glanced around the room again, mostly for show. She seemed like maybe she could use someone to talk to, and to be honest Nolan wouldn't mind a girl's opinion on what was going on with Sloane.

Haley smiled at Nolan. "Oh hey, sorry. I did not see you there." She said catching her breath. "Please do sit." She scooted over to give him some room to sit down. "I love company. Its kind of sad to eat alone in a cafeteria full of people." She said with a laugh. Haley liked Nolan. He was a good guy and not like most jocks. He was nice. Only a few jocks were nice and not jerks or assholes.
"So how have you been?" Haley asked. She flipped some blond hair over her shoulder and sighed as she took a bite. "That looks appetizing. I think the caf serves weird food because its like stereotypical. Ever seen those shows where the lunch lady serves something that looks like it could kill." Haley laughed, but then she stopped. "Not sure its the right time to joke like that. Sorry...that was wrong of me." She said softly regretting making a joke about death given what happened.
Haley eyed Nolan. He looked distant in a way. Everyone did. It seemed to be as if everyone was in a different place. "So how have you been? You okay since last week?" Sure Haley was shot in the arm, but people had been hurt much worse.

“I've been okay,” Nolan replied. “Busy. Family in town.” And other things, but he didn't really want to say anything about that. He wasn't big on getting advice or anything, and he didn't really know how to broach the topic without seeming awkward or obvious. Luckily, Haley distracted herself with a joke.
Nolan wasn't one to be overly sensitive, and he didn't mind the joke. It was funny. “I don't think you need to change just because of what happened. A joke is a joke.” He shrugged. Maybe it was kinda like after September 11th. That was a horrible tragedy, but all of the important people said the best way to deal with it was to go on with your lives just the same. Nolan figured that was the best way to go forward.
He smiled at Haley. She was being really nice and it made Nolan feel more relaxed. “Yeah, I'm okay. Pretty lucky that I got shot somewhere that didn't really mess me up. I had crutches for a few days, and my butt still kinda hurts, but other than that I'm fine.” And it was true. Even though his stomach had been twisted in knots at times thinking about Sloane and where he stood with her, it had been great to see Adam, and Marty and Freddy had been around the house a lot more. If the worst of his problems was that Sloane hadn't called him back at all, then his life must be pretty darn good.
The spaghetti cooled on his plate while Nolan talked with Haley. He was purposefully ignoring it. “How about you? How's your arm?” She seemed fine physically, for which Nolan was glad to see. “And how's... uh...” Nolan looked away a moment. He had completely blanked on the name of the dude that Haley was supposedly seeing now! Red came to his face and he started to feel like a complete jerk. “Sorry, I can't think of his name, that guy. Uhh...” He really hoped Haley would say something so he could stop stammering.

"Thanks. Sometimes I feel a joke is needed, especially after what happened. We need to laugh over something. Or else people will dwell on what happened, which is not always a good thing. What happened was a tragedy and I doubt any of us will ever forget, but we have to learn to move on with our lives and look at the future." Haley told Nolan. "I think i have officially been hanging around My dad too much. He went on a rampage about My future and what I have to look forward to." Haley admitted. Her dad could be like that. He really was a good father. Sure he worked a lot, but he was always there for Haley.
"I am doing good. My arm hurts a little, but I can move it and i do not need a sling. So Its doing good. The act of getting shot was more scary then the wound looks." Haley said as she pulled her hair back into a messy bun and used a scrunchies to hold it in place. "Well not many guys can go around and say they got shot in the butt. But if you tell a few girls just imagine the pity they will feel. You could have girls all over you." She told him with a smile, "It is really good you are okay though. I am so glad it was not worse." She meant it to. He was very lucky.
Haley nodded as Nolan rambled. It was really bad that no one knew Cam's name. They just knew she was dating him. Although lately she did not even think she was dating him. Came was ignoring her. "It's Cameron and he is okay. He has been having trouble getting over what happened lately, but Cam is doing good. Thanks for asking. So what about you? Any special ladies in your life.?" Haley asked. Damn she really needed to find a way for people to learn Cam's name. Although wasn't that what she was not wanting to happen.

When Haley mentioned her arm, Nolan's eyes were instinctively drawn to it. He watched her as she tied up her hair, as if her hands were pulling away a curtain to reveal her very pretty neck. Nolan thought of his freshman year when he had first met Haley. It was after a football game, right after a huge win for Silver. The cheerleaders were inviting the team to a big party, and Nolan remembered a very pretty girl that was a year older than him come over and specifically tell him about the get together. He was very shy then, and could barely manage the word “Okay,” in response. And even though he was seeing someone else at the time, he had to admit he had a small crush on Haley Rowan. In an instant, he almost felt regret for never asking her out once he was single.
That thought, however, brought with it guilt and confusion. He shouldn't be thinking of other girls in that way, should he? What would Sloane think if she knew what he was thinking? Not that they were dating. Well, maybe they were, so maybe she would have a right to be upset. And Haley had a boyfriend. How could Nolan ever feel right about hitting on her when she was seeing someone else? Then again, things like that never bothered guys like Chuck Donovan or Tyler Durnham, and those were guys whose names were up there on the Player's Hall of Fame! Maybe that would help Nolan gain more confidence...
No, or not yet at least. Nolan still had a heart, and he couldn't think of doing such a thing. Maybe he didn't care about... Haley's guy. But he did care a lot about Sloane, and he wouldn't want to hurt her. It was Haley's prerogative if she wanted to be with... dude. That guy. Cameron! Yes, that was it. Nolan realized Haley had been talking and he hoped she hadn't noticed his lack of concentration. He had been nodding in agreement, and he thought it made sense and looked fine. And luckily, he was back in the conversation in time to catch a question directed at him.
“Uh, well...” Nolan's forehead wrinkled up as he thought for a moment on this. “I guess I don't really know. I mean, I've been hanging out with this girl, and we've gone on dates. But every now and then I get a weird vibe that she's trying to pull away or something, and I don't really know where I stand with her. Oh, yeah, and she's friends with Tyler Durnham, so there's that to, which kinda... I don't know. I'm not like jealous, just weirded out by it I guess.”
