“Boa Constrictor? That’s awesome!” Evan laughed, bouncing around a little more in his excitement. Albino snakes were mad, but nothing topped a boa on the cool reptile pet front. He didn’t think he would be able to push his mum into letting him get one. It was only then he noticed the crutch his new friend had, already trying to think of cool things they could do with it. He was about to ask how’d he ended up with it, being with the shooting fresh in his mind, even in his half gone state thought better than asking.
It was then he decided he was hungry, and seeing how Lace was very kindly holding a heap of pretzels, helped himself to a few. “Uh, 10 second rule right?” he grinned, munching down the snack goodness. Those pretzels were making him thirsty though, he figured he needed to get another drink soon. The drinks here were awesome!
“Yeah, it’ll be alright if they joined the schools together. Don’t think they will though, with all the different sports teams. Think they’d complain about having to team up and drop half the players.” he decided. “Don’t mind sharing my locker, but if it’s permanent, want to switch locker partners. I’ve got Jasper Hastings.” he shuddered playfully. “Don’t think he likes me much. Have no idea why.” he cracked up.
Then he felt someone join at his right, and turning to see the girl, waited for her to introduce herself before pulling her into a hug as well. He was very affectionate after a few drinks. And he knew her, they went to the same school after all, so that was enough for him. “Hannah! She’s pretty cool, you know, for a cheerleader.” he grinned at the other three. “Hannah, there’s pretzels!” he gestured to Lace. “And that’s Lace holding them. And Dare. His dad has a boa. And there’s drinks here! I might have had a couple.” he grinned at her.

Most people would get overwhelmed talking to three...no make that four strangers at once. First Evan, then Dare, then Lace and now Hannah. Sarah did not mind at all. She liked getting to know new people and this had turned out better then she thought. People were having a good time. The pool fight did not escape her notice, but it seemed to have calmed down so she did not need to interfere. Sarah turned her attention back to the four. She spoke to Evan first, "No gifts are necessary. I am just glad everyone is having a good time, but I thank everyone who did bring something. I just wanted everyone to have fun...given everything you know."
Sarah smiled as Hannah handed her the gift. A Gun's N Roses CD, "Sweet. I have been meaning to get this CD. Thanks hannah." She said with a smiled. Then the conversation turned to snakes and dogs. It was quite amusing. And the merging of the schools. "I hear we are staying merged for a while. Who knows for how long. Yeah I go to Silver too. Guilty as charged." She said. "Go Silver kids, rigth Lace." She laughed.
"Gould's not bad. Its bigger, which good because with two schools it gets crowded." She told everyone, "I can't remember who my locker buddy is to be honest. I never had the chance of meeting him or her." Sarah felt a little bad about that.
"Now as for snakes. I wish I could have one, but my sister and mom would enver allow it. A dog...I want a Husky. With the bright blue eyes." Sarah explained. She shurgged again. "I would have a house filled with animals if I could, but my sister is scared of anything on four legs." Sarah laughed. "Its funny. Put a fake snake in her bed and she freaks. Mean, but she is my sister I am allowed." Sarah laughed as Evan mentioned how many drinks he had, "And how many is a few drinks?" Sarah asked joking around.

Hannah's sudden arrival made Lace sigh with relief. The attention was immediately turned to the blond and her gift and Evan's drunk state. He was extremely chatty and Lace found herself giggling lightly as she listened to him talk and talk and talk.
When he suddenly grabbed a handful of pretzels from her hand, Lace almost dropped everything back down. "Don't eat that!" she squeaked. "It might be full of germs and germs can kill you if you ingest too much of it and salt is a catalyst for germination and you're drinking far too much. What if you get sick and then you won't be able to do anything about it because you don't know what caused it and then you'll remember that I was the one who supplied you with the pretzels and you'll blame me for the rest of your life?" She took a deep breath as her last word came out barely a whisper.
Lace bit her lower lip, blushing bright red at her sudden outburst. "Wow..." she cleared her throat before turning to Hannah and held one hand out. She took it back immediately and wiped it down her skirt before extending it again. "Lace Kellan. I'm from Silver. Go Silver." She laughed sheepishly, the blush still intact.

“Don’t worry Lace, I’ll be right.” Evan grinned at her confidently, grabbing another pretzel as if for proof. “I’ve been through much worse than a couple of possibly germ infested pretzels. I once got a friend to push me down a hill in a broken trolley. And then I jumped off a roof into a garden. It was mad!” he emphasised, waving his arms around. “So a couple of pretzels won’t hurt me.”
Sarah did seem pretty cool though, what with the sweet party and pranking her sister. “Well, anytime you want a real snake to trick your sister, just let me know.” he offered with a laugh. Real had to be better than fake for a prank, he figured. And it wasn’t likely he and Brit would be able to do the same prank to Aly now, what with the heroics and the sisters kinda getting on. So he had to live vicariously through others when he could. “Always wanted a brother or a sister. Would be so fun pranking them.” he laughed. “But I’m an only child. That’s probably a good thing though, for their unborn sake.”
“Go Silver!” he yelled out. “No wait, I’m Gould. Go Gould!” The question about his drinking made him laugh though, and he grinned brightly at the growing circle around him. “A few, well, actually, only had four little plastic cups.” Evan counted on his fingers. “Honestly. I know you might think I seem much more drunk than that, but in reality, this is my personality. Aren’t my friends all lucky? Now someone else talk, before I freak you all out too much. I...uh..have trouble not talking sometimes.” he pointed out with a laugh.

Dare tried to follow everything, but he had never been around this many people his own age before and he kept getting distracted by the things going on around him. He chuckled listening to Evan. “You can come meet the Boa some time if you want. He goes on the road with my dad though so we would have to make it sometime when he is home. He’ll be around until Wednesday I think,” he offered, knowing it was unlikely Phil would want to come visit after all.
“I’m Gould too. Go Gould!” he shouted, joining in so Gould would be properly represented. He wasn’t big into sports, but he figured you should always cheer for your own team. He had thought about trying out for tennis in the spring, but he didn’t think he could now, not with his leg shot up.
“I would be careful putting little snakes in a bed. They could get crushed and end up biting,” Dare said, remembering his dad saying something about that happening when one of the other band members had gotten a young python.

The party was shaping up to be quite the event. Hannah hadn't been at the party long, and already a cute older boy was hugging her! Granted, he had been eating dirty pretzels, which kinda grossed Hannah out, but cute is cute and a hug is a hug. She couldn't complain about that! She hugged back, glad to feel welcome. Evan even called her “pretty cool,” though at the remark after Hannah was forced to playfully smack him on the arm. “Be nice, Evan!” She smiled at him. “I think you owe me a drink now.” She hoped the charm of her Southern accent would help convince the boy to get her something.
“Now I know I've seen you around Gould, Dare. It's nice to officially meet you!” She extended her hand to him next, also offering a smile. “And you too, Lace.” She shook Lace's proffered hand. “Small wonder we haven't met, if y'all're from Silver. I'm a Gouldie too.” She looked around the group and smiled again. “Looks like we got you Silvers outnumbered here! Go Gould!”
When the conversation turned to snakes, Hannah stayed quiet. She wasn't a big fan of the creepy crawlies, or creepy slitherers, whatever they may be. But she was a fan of dogs. “Oh I just got a puppy!” She beamed. It had been the most exciting thing to happen to her since she had returned from Georgia. “My momma got me him for Valentine's Day and he is the cutest! I shoulda brought him.” That thought spilled out of her mouth, but then she thought a bit better of it. “Well, maybe that ain't a good idea, but y'all can come over and meet him any time you want!”
Hannah also wasn't much of a prankster, but she had heard about many of Evan and his friends' exploits, and they were usually pretty funny. Not that Hannah would ever admit that around Aly. She knew better than to get on the bad side of Aly Durrand! Still, she couldn't help but giggle at Evan. He was so excitable and full of energy. “It's okay, Evan, you go ahead and talk all you want!”

When Hannah started mentioning about dogs, Lace perked up. "Maybe you and I can walk the dogs I take care of and your puppy can get himself used to the other dogs." She smiled widely. She turned to Sarah. "Um...may I use your bathroom? I think I need to wash my hands and...you seriously need to get this cleaned. Some one could just take it off the...it's okay never mind. If you could direct me to the broom closet I would gladly do it for you." Lace nodded and smiled. She knew it was a little weird that she came over to a party and was asking where the broom closet was. But she couldn't leave the mess alone. She had to do something about it.
And besides, her presence did not seem to be taken into account and she thought she had already overstayed her welcome since she had already given Sarah her present and she had socialised. It was standard protocol for attending a party, was it not?
"You know what...you stay. You're a host. You shouldn't be doing anything but mingling. I'll just go and look for it myself. You don't mind do you? And besides it's just a little bit. So you don't have to worry about anything..." Lace nodded before walking off briskly into the house to find the supply closet.

Dare watched everyone with a grin until his arm pit began to protest the weight of his body pressed into a crutch. It seemed they could work out a better method of support. Basically crutches had changed little since the middle ages. He found a near by deck chair and lowered himself into it. The girl Lace had decided to do the cleaning he had offered to do, which is just as well as he probably would have fallen over holding the dust pan.
"We should do a pet day or maybe a charity pet show; where we donate proceeds to the families that were affected earlier in the week," He suggested since everyone obviously adored their pets. "Rufus can't do anything yet, but he's cute. "He thought that was enough to show the tiny little pup off to admiring classmates and their families.
"I hate to leave, but my dad said I could only stay for an hour because of my leg... I am really glad I got to meet all of you though," Dare said and pulled out his cell to call his driver to come meet him out front. He wished he could go soak in a hot bath, but that wasn't allowed yet, only showers with his wound covered with plastic. "I hope I see you all on Monday. Thanks Sarah. Happy Birthday again." He managed to get up and wave to them all before heading through the crowds to the front.
