[Character: Sarah Hayes] [Location: Her house]
It was party time. It was offically Sarah's birthday and Sarah woke up like she did everyday. Very excited. Sure there had been tragedy a few days before, but people could use this party. Gould and Silver students were all invited and her parents were gone. Which was fantastic. They would be gone all night. Of course Sarah knew partiues could get out of control so she hide some very important and expensive things in rooms that she locked, but she was prepared. The theme was simple and not orginal. It was Rock n Roll. Basically for people to have fun. She spent the whole day setting up and decorating. Sarah hoped people showed up. She was looking forward to Alex being there. She hoped Jade was okay.
The day seemed to pass by slowly. Now Sarah knew why schools exsisted. When people did start arriving to be honest Sarah had been scared no one would show, but with in an hour her place was packed and to be honest she barel knew everyone but that was okay with her. Sarah did not mind. She walked around and mingled. It was great. The party was starting. Definatly something people needed to help distract them from what happened.
Sarah was busy making sure the food and drinks stayed plentiful to watch where she was going and BAM she bumped right into someone. Which sent the bowl of pretzels in her hand crashing to the floor. Most people would be pissed about the mess, but Sarah just started laughing. "That's why someone invented the broom and dustpan." Sarah said with a shrug.

Evan had caught wind of a party, and though he didn’t recognise the name of the birthday girl, a party was a party, and the theme was rock and roll, so whoever the girl was, she had to have at least some decent taste. And after the past couple of days, he figured everyone could use a party. So he excitedly told his friends, and everyone he came across from school that day. It was going to be fun, he figured. And if it wasn’t, he figured he and his friends could make it that way.
“PAAA-ARRR-TTTY!” he yelled out as he dived from the couch, kitted out in old jeans and a Led Zepplin t-shirt, a cup filled with a very unknown substance in his hand. Very rock and roll, he thought. He had yet to see any of his friends, his current friends anyway, but being Evan, he was making new ones right, left and centre. Someone yelled out for him to scull the drink, and not one to refuse a fan, he managed to get it all down, before an even more unidentifiable drink was pressed into his hand. He didn’t know what was in them. But they were good.
Backing away from his current company, he felt what seemed like a body in his road, and hearing a voice, assumed that his guess was right, unless objects could now speak. That would be so awesome, he thought. Turning around, he saw the pretzels, and burst into laughter. “I’m sorry. And they’re good, as long as you can convince someone to use them for you. No one likes cleaning.” he grinned, before realising who the girl was. Someone had pointed her out to him before as the owner of the house. Which only meant one thing. “Happy birthday!” he yelled, and being the friendly sort, the drinks helping him be a bit more friendly, he pulled her in for an enthusiastic hug. “I’m Evan. Happy birthday! Mad party!”

Dare had just arrived and been pointed out to the pool when he asked where the birthday girl was. He hadn’t had any idea what to give her since they hadn’t met, so he had gotten his father and the rest of his band mates to sign a Toxic Religion tee shirt in indelible ink and wrapped it up along with a CD of theirs and the one CD his own band Paranoid Phantasm had produced. He felt a bit funny doing so, but he figured it would be more personal.
When he found Sarah, she was discussing cleaning up a mess with a dark haired guy he vaguely recognized from the shooting. He had been running around like a maniac singing at the top of his voice. “Hi, Happy Birthday, Sarah. I’m Dare Madison. If you tell me where to put your present I wouldn’t mind sweeping that up,” he offered. He had never done anything like that in his life, but he was willing to try it to save a damsel in distress.

Looking down at her outfit, she hoped she would blend in with the crowd. She was fairly decently dressed in her black thigh length skirt and red top. Her hair was up in a ponytail and she had the slightest bit of make-up on. Just a hint of blush and eyeliner. She thought she shouldn't go overboard. She was not there to impress anyone.
Lace did not know anyone at the party as she walked around the house to find the birthday girl. She was not even sure what the birthday girl was like so the present she got her might not be something the birthday girl wanted or needed. She hardly thought a beaded necklace was something a stranger would give to another stranger but there it was in a purple satin box covered up in a simple silver wrapping paper.
She finally found the birthday girl in between two boys, both juniors, *that* Lace knew. Shyly, she patted Sarah on the shoulder. "Happy Birthday Sarah." She smiled before surveying the mess. "Wow...uh, you need help with that?" She asked awkwardly. She was no social butterfly and even with girls she was a bit awkward. She set the present on the table and bent down to help gather up some of the pretzels. She turned to look at the blonde Junior and tugged at his jeans. "Come help."

Dare didn’t even think of refusing, he was definitely dressed more appropriately for cleaning the floor than this new girl. He handed his present to Sarah first and then bent to do his duty. “Hi, I’m Dare,” he said, introducing himself as he knelt down to scoop more pretzels into the basket, only struggling a little with his crutch. There was something familiar about this girl but he couldn’t place it. Then she flipped her hair back with a twist of her shoulders. “Hey… didn’t I see you in Sherman Oaks Park yesterday? You were walking a beautiful retriever. I had a very very small boxer type puppy. He had been trying out various Dog friendly parks which is why he was in Van Nuys. He didn’t just want to trust Tony to walk him anywhere so he had been trying different places. He had just adopted Rufus and was being very particular about everything to do with his beloved new pet. He had always wanted a dog and his father relented after he came home very depressed after the memorial.

Most people would not invite people they did not know, but Sarah was different. Especially after what happened she found no need to limit who came. Besides her father was rich, and as much as Sarah did not care about money, she knew her dad could pay to have this place cleaned up before her mother saw it. Again Sarah would not mind doing it herself, but as Evan said. Most people do hate cleaning, Sarah included, but someone did not throw a party without expecting a huge mess. What Sarah did not expect was the hug. However, she did return Evan's hug. Right as she was about to ask another guy came over and introduced himself. He was so nice for offering to help. Once again Sarah was going to talk, when a woman joined them. People were so friendly.
"Thank you all so much." She told the three people, "Its nice to meet the three of you, but you really don't need to clean. Its a party. Cleaning can happen after the fun. Besides I have no doubt something else will end up on the floor by the end of the night. Its why there is nothing breakable around." Sarah laughed. She felt bad when the two people started cleaning. "You all really are too kind." She told them. "However, Evan has a point who likes to clean, but if your going to clean might as well make a group out of it." She smiled.
"A presant. That's very nice. Just put them on the table right there." Sarah pointed to a table in front of them as she helped clean. Sarah looked up at Evan as Dare asked the girl a question, "I guess telling you my name is pointless since you know it, but I am glad you guys were able to come." She spoked to all of them, "Do you all know each other from school or is this the first meeting....." Sarah wondered. Meeting new people was always fun. Get four strangers together and that could be very interesting.

A present. Evan couldn’t believe he forgot one. That was what you were supposed to bring to birthday party after all. Not that he would have known what to get the birthday girl, Sarah, he now knew her name was, thanks to the very helpful other girl who just showed up. “Sorry, didn’t get you anything.” he apologised. “But, tell you what, you can have the gift of my company. That’s priceless.” he grinned, overtly cheery.
Chugging the rest of his drink and throwing the empty plastic cup on the table, he nodded enthusiastically in agreement with Sarah. “Yeah, don’t clean. It’s a party after all, you’re not meant to do boring stuff at a party. And cleaning is about the most boring thing you can do. Actually, no, ironing is. Then cleaning.”
He bounced lightly on his feet at the talk of pets, doggy pets, getting excited himself. Well, getting more excited. Evan was usually always in some form of excitement or another. It wasn’t hard, when nearly everything could excite him, and when it didn’t, he found a way to make it more exciting. “I’ve always wanted a dog, but my mum doesn’t like the idea, because we’re both often not at home. Which is fair enough, cause I would want a big dog, and we don’t have much of a yard, so it wouldn’t be fair to leave it locked up constantly.” he rushed, not realising his enthusiasm was making him speak just a little faster than necessary. “It’s all good though, me and Brit got snakes instead. Albino ones. We’ve named them Bonnie and Clyde. They’re awesome.” The drinks were starting to get to him just a tiny bit, but nowhere near as much as his new companions might think.
“I kinda know him, goes to my school. Dare.” Evan pointed out, helpfully, he thought. “We’re Gould men. And you both go to Silver, right?” He thought it was a safe guess, seeing how he couldn’t really recall seeing either girl before that night. “Well, let me break the ice. I am Evan, I like movies, I like parties, I like funny things, I like stupid things and I am easily persuaded to drink odd coloured liquid out of plastic cups.”

Dare helped the other girl to her feet while he balanced on his crutch and grinned at Evan. "Hi Evan, snakes are really cool. My dad has a Boa Constrictor named Sabbath. He is three feet long . I have to keep Rufus away from him because he is snack size for the snake. Rufus is the puppy. He fits in my hand," Dare informed the semi-drunk Gould student. Dare, despite his rock n' roll upbringing had never drank or done drugs. He really had nothing against drinking, but his mom had died from an overdose when he was six so he was very careful about stuff thanks to his oddly strict father.
"Yeah I go to Gould, well I just started kinda. I went for a while in the fall and then just came back on Monday. Both times Silver was at our school, kind of odd. Seems like it would be easier just to keep us together. I don’t mind sharing my locker,” Dare said, a bit overwhelmed by being with four new people at once. He could play guitar on a stage in front of thousands, but talking was something else entirely.

As she smiled up at the boy named Dare, Lace giggled a little at the chatty boy, Evan but she hid it immediately for fear the others might draw attention to her. Her hands which were full of pretzels were held near her chest, not knowing where to dispose of them.
She nodded quietly at Dare's question, surprised that he had remembered her and her best doggy client, Travis. Then she remembered the little dog Dare was talking about and nodded a little more enthusiastically. "He was such a cute dog!" She enthused and when Evan started talking about his own doggy wants, Lace couldn't help but join in his enthusiasm. If there was one thing she could never be shy or reserved about are dogs. It was why she had a secret dog walking business.
With Evan introducing himself and Lace knowing Sarah and Dare, she thought she might as well introduce herself. "My name is Lace. And yes, I go to Silver." She nodded before turning to Dare as he spoke about joining the schools. She actually saw it as convenient. She thought they should definitely join together. She was tired of wondering when they would have to share lockers or have their own. But she did not voice out her opinion. She just kept quiet and decided to just listen to what the other three had to say about the subject.

Hannah loved birthdays. Everyone was usually in such a great mood and it was a great chance to just let loose. Thus it was that she went to great lengths to figure out who Sarah Hayes was so that Hannah could introduce herself to the birthday girl. It may be a little awkward at first, but if someone was nice enough to have an open birthday invitation, they must be pretty accepting.
With a brief wave to her mother, Hannah jumped out of the little red car and hurried to the front door, a small package clutched in her left hand. She had found out Sarah liked rock music, and so she had picked out a Guns and Roses CD from Target. She didn't know if Sarah would like it or not, but hopefully she would appreciate the gesture. The front door opened to reveal a scene that could have been taken out of any token teen movie. The place was packed, people were having fun everywhere, and loud music was drowned out by the even louder cacophony of gossip, chatting, and singing. Hannah grinned. This was her favorite environment.
She scoured the house, first noticing some friends from cheerleading. She waved then pointed to her present, hoping they understood she'd find them later. She didn't recognize most of the faces, but smiled at everyone she passed. Most of these people must be from Silver. A few times she was stopped by acquaintances and was forced into short conversation, which she enjoyed. She hadn't seen a lot of them since the last school day, and it was nice to say hi. But she pressed forward on her quest to find the hostess.
Finally a bright shock of pink hair helped Hannah identify her new friend. She was surrounded by a few people, two boys she recognized and one girl she didn't. Dare Madison she didn't really know well, and Evan Hughes was a cute boy who was dating Brittany... something. That girl that was in a band. Hannah decided it was okay to join the group and strode over to merge into the circle.
“Hi everyone! And Happy Birthday Sarah. I'm Hannah Bell. Thank you so much for inviting me to your party! I got you this.” She held out the CD shaped present, smiling with all her teeth, as her mother would say.
