Trixie and Jay had been avoiding each other. Trixie did not want to see or speak to Jay....not ever. She was fuming mad at him. The audacity of him. To think he had some control over his life at all. And then there was DJ and the fact that he thought he had Trixie all figured out. If DJ only knew.
Men were all so stupid sometimes. And then that damn dream...the idiotic dream was worse. She hated it. Stupid dream....it was a lie all of it. All the sudden Trixie felt her arm being pulled and soon she was face to face with her brother. "Oh its you."
"OH come on you can't still be mad can you." Jay told his sis, "I mean seriously. Everything I am doing is for your own good. Trust me."
Trixie laughed, "Trust you...you practically baited DJ into a fight and then had him admit to the whole world that we slept togehter...how much meaner can you get...you're an ass Jay...."
Jay shook his head, "I am just trying to protect you....stop being a brat about it."
Trixie scoffed, "A brat...protect me...protect me from what..No one has done anything to me. I don't need protecting I can handle myself. I like DJ....he is a good guy...for once I have a good guy. why cant you see that.....You are starting to act like him."
That struck a nerve. Jay backed his sister against some lockers, "Don't you ever say that you hear me...I am not him...I am nothing like him. Now take it back...or else..." Jay hit the locker by Trixie's head.
Meanwhile the shooting had just begun but had yet to make it toward their part of the hallway, but it soon would.

DJ was walking down the hall when he spied Jay and Trixie having a sibling conversation. He watched carefully, if Jay tried anything...
Which he did.
Dj was off like a shot towards the two, throwing his backpack aside, heads were really going to roll. He grabbed Jay by the shoulder and threw him against the lockers with a loud bang.
"Look asshole, its one thing to have a beef with me and wanna clobber me, but you so much as lay a finger on a girl!" He growled at Jay, his eyes penetrating into his.
A small crowd had gathered around them, chanting "fight, fight, fight" oblivious to gun fire coming towards them.
DJ threw him down to the floor. "Not so tough when someone bigger than you comes along!" DJ hated playing the big man card but he knew there were times when it was necessary.
"Now get up!" He ordered Jay. "Face your sister and apologize to her." He waited a moment or two before repeating himself. "I said get up!" DJ "helped" Jay to his feet and that was when a shot rang near him, he turned quickly to see where it came from.
"SHIT!!" He exclaimed as he moved to protect Trixie.

Trixie knew Jay would never hit her, but in that moment she really thought he was going to. His eyes were darting into hers and it cut her like a knife. Then he hit the locker and she was sure she was next. Trixie was honestly, for once scared of her brother.....then he showed up. Like a knight in shining Armour. He had a knack for timing. DJ always seemed to know just what to do to chip away a little more at her heart.
This time is was the fact he had not swung yet. Right now it was all threats. Jay would have swung first and asked questions later. Trixie liked a guy who could have some control over his emotions. "DJ, please..... its not worth it...please..."
Jay felt himself get throw against the lockers then down to the floor. "Get lost you big ape..." Then he was yanked up and by DJ and all Jay did was eye the guy. "Shut up Trix...this has nothing to do with you...." Jay said and lightly pushed his sister back as he said. "Let's go big boy..." Jay was standing face to face...more like chest to face but still. Once Jay was like that the shot rang through the halls.
Trixie felt Jay push her and as she finally regained her composure, which only took a few seconds the shot was heard through the halls. it was like a firecracker. You did not want to believe it was a gun shot, but it was a fire cracker. It took Trixie a few seconds before her body felt the pain. She looked down and saw blood on the front of her shirt. She covered it with her hand. she had been shot in the abdomen on the right side.
It still had not registered that she had been shot. Trixie pulled her hand away from the side of her stomach and looked at her hand. The moment DJ was by her side all Trixie said was,, "I...I think I've been....shot..." With that said her knees went weak. Not because of the gun shot but because of the shock of it and she literally fell against DJ's body.
"Trixie...." Jay yelled.

"Your brother took a swing at you and that is not cool with me!" DJ replied keeping his eyes on Jay.
"This has everything to do with her. I'm sick of how you treat her, let her go and let her live her own life for god sake!" He faced Jay. "Fine you wanna go at me, bring it on little man! You don't scare me!" DJ doubled his fists when the shot rang out.
He was about to take a swing at Jay for pushing Trixie like he did until she fell into him. He was started by her move at first till he felt the warm liquid touch his hands.
"Oh god..." he muttered, carefully laying Trixie down on the floor. He took off his jacket and covered her, carefully putting gentle pressure on the wound. "It'll be all right Trixie, just wait and see." he tried to comfort her.
His eyes looked to Jay, "Go and get help!" He ordered him while he gently cradled Trixie's head. The uncertain feeling of not knowing what was going on made him want to just sit and cry right then and there.
He didn't want to lose the one girl he truly cared about right now.

Jay just watched in horror as his sister fell. At first Jay thought this was her attempt at stopping a fight that had been looming for days. Then Dj told him to get help and things clicked. His sister...shot....might die...those are the thoughts that were in his head at the moment. The one person ins th world he could not lose, is the one person he might. All of it could have been prevented had he not been distracted enough. "I swear....you let her die and that's the end of it...." Jay said threatening because right now all he saw was Trixie's life in DJ's hands. With that said Jay ran off to his locker going to get his cell so he could call for help.
Trixie felt DJ"s pressing on the wound a little, "Ow...." She said softly. It was a gun shot of course it hurt she thought. Trixie looked up at DJ, "Hey at least you and my brother are not fighting...." She tried to say with a small laugh but it hurt too much.
In trixies mind panic was setting in. She did not want to die. She wanted to live....have a life, but she had been shot....and she could die. That scared her. Scared the hell out of her. Thank god for DJ because he was the only thing keeping her from breaking own and even that was not working. For the first time in front of someone else tears started to run down Trixie's cheeks. "You promise..." She said in reference to it being okay, "Because I don't want to die....I..." Trixie kept her eyes on DJ, for some odd reason, which in fact she knew the reason, he comforted her. "You are always saving me.....don't you get tired of it...."

It happened so quickly, there were more people around the fallen girl and the male youth next to her. Hands gently pulling her from him, pressing against the wound, asking clipped, quick questions. Reminding the girl, Trixie they learned, to breath as they took care of her and loaded her onto a gurney.
How long had it been since the shootings started? The time seemed to run together, too quickly to count accurately, too long to be absolutely. The good news was, the good guys were there and they were taking care of the situation in the very manner of which they'd been trained for exactly this situation and others like it.
