[Character Name: Nate Kane] [Location: Persuade]
Nate went to peirside intent on sliding back to his old ways of drinking and getting drunk as fuck. His best friend Trixie had been shot and was in the hospital. Jay called and said she would be okay, but it was not easy. Violence always got to Nate. OF course Nate had a cop for a father, so violence was his life. Not to mention Trixie and Jay's dad was an abusive fuck, and this girl Skye he use to know, also had an abusive father. it just sucked. However, Nate had his fair share of violence. Odds are he could have been a part of the crew had this been back in Salem. Then again he was not Hispanic so who knows.
Nate headed to peirside with his fake ID. He sat at the bar and ordered a coke. No alcohol yet. Nate thought about his day and how he had actually been looking forward to going out with Brad. It was going to be fun, but fun seemed so far away right now and Nate felt sort of bad, but he was just not in the mind set to go out. He wanted to sit and contemplate ruining his whole good life now.
Nate use to fight a lot. He use to kick the shit of of guys for sport. Nate spent most his days drunk and high, but that had all changed. He was clean, sober, everything. He was trying to be a good guy. A flirt like always, but still he had changed and after this day...after all the blood and dead and injured bodies he saw....he was ready to give that up. Nate sipped his coke for now intent on ordering something stronger next time.

It seemed like they day had gone on forever. All the violence...it was like something out of a movie. All Riley wanted to do was be with her family. She was blessed that both she had her brother had made it out alive and uninjured. When the violence had been in the cafeteria. She had watched people around her get injured...but she'd been lucky. So had Jazz...he'd been in one of the bathrooms. And now that she was home...all she wanted to do was be with her family...but of course that was impossible. After all...Riley didn't have much of a family to speak of.
Her father was of course still in prison. Now that Jazz's trust fund had kicked in he was the one supported them. And with their new found money, their mother had took off to Europe for what she said was a much needed vacation. Jazz had left the second they'd gotten home...saying he wanted to hit the bar. He was spooked too, from the day's events and Riley knew that her brother preferred to deal with things on his own. But that left Riley alone too.
Following her brother's lead, she decided to go to a bar. She didn't know where Jazz had gone so she picked a bar on her own...at random. Having lived rather poorly the past few months she still hadn't been out much in LA. Walking into Pierside, a bar she wandered in upon, she wasn't even thinking about getting carded. Sure she had a fake, everyone did--or at least in Riley's world, everyone did, but they rarely got carded. Back in New York everyone had known who they were and knew better than to card them. So she thought nothing of it when she walked up to the bar, "Vodka Tonic please," she said to the bartender. She needed something strong after today.
"ID please," the bartender said.
"Oh, right," Riley said, pulling out her id without hesitation and handing it over. The guy looked it over but accepted it none the less and got her the drink.
Looking over, farther down the bar, she recognized one of the other patrons. "Hey...I know you from school...don't I," she said taking the seat next to him with her drink, "Mind if I sit here?" she asked, after she'd already sat down. "I needed a drink after today," she explained.

Nate also ordered another soda and some chips as the girl walked over. He looked her over. Very cute. Very cute. He smiled at her. "Of course. I never turn down such beautiful company." He smiled at her as he sipped the new coke the bartender brought. It was non alcoholic but a drink was a drink. "Don't we all need one. Although mine does not have anything illegal in it, but still. The thought is there." Nate told her as she took a seat.
"Yeah I have seen you around. Nate...nice to meet you..." Nate held out his hand. "I admit I have been too shy to ask for your name, besides the guy you are always with seems a bit scary." Nate admitted to her. He was never shy, but sometimes girls liked when guys admitted they were shy. "So you made it. Some others not so lucky. I saw a few get carried out in stretchers. Anyone you know get hurt?"
Nate hoped not. Nate knew what it was like. Trixie had been shot. And she was not even family but it hurt like hell to know a friend had gotten hurt. It sucked. Nate hoped this chick did not need to worry about that. He would never wish that on anyone.

Riley looked at him sideways when he mentioned his drink was non-alcoholic. She wasn't one to judge...after all, maybe he was one of those clean and sober guys, but then why be in a bar? Was the food here that legendary? She'd never been here before, and while it was nice, she didn't think it seemed that special. She sipped on her vodka tonic, hoping he didn't rat her out for being underage.
"Nice to meet you officially," Riley said, smirking when he mentioned the scary guy she was always with. She couldn't help but let out a laugh. "Yeah, that would be my brother, Jasper," she said. "He's protective, sure, but he'd never actually do anything to hurt anyone. I'm Riley." That part wasn't true, but for Riley it was. She didn't believe her brother would actually do anything to hurt anyone aside from exchange words. She was dead wrong of course, but Jasper always hid that side from her so really she had no way of knowing.
"Uh yeah...I saw one of my friends got shot, but from what I heard she'd be okay," Riley said, thinking about Aly. Riley and Jasper didn't have an abundance of friends really. They were starting to get to know more people, now that they could hide behind their wealth again, but Riley couldn't really consider all of those people friends.

Nate nodded, "It really is nice to meet you Riley." Although Nate did not consider himself to have a drinking problem, he just choose not to drink, because it reminded him too much of the life he had been kicked out of. Nate had always been able to take or leave drugs, but drinking and drugs is what one did in Salem. Without that it was boring. Salem was a kind of make your own fun town. Besides making fun of tourists who came up and asked if any witched still lived in town. Nate always gave the same answer. He would tell the tourist 'depends on your definition of a witch.'
Nate had no intention of ratting out Riley. What purpose did that serve. And besides she was hot. So there was no way he was getting rid of her. "Your brother. Good to know. I was about to ask about the competition, but I see I have none." Nate could be very forward but thats how he played the game. You did not get a woman or a man by sitting back and hoping they came to you.
"Sorry about your friend. Were you and her close...tell your brother sorry too. It sucks. One of my friends was shot. So I know what its like. I just have not visited her yet. I hate hospitals. they creep me out. They smell like death. Not the rotting smell, but just something about them...ewww." Nate said with a shiver, "So Riley, what does a beautiful girl like you...do for fun?"

Riley took another sip of her drink. It seemed that the boy, Nate, wasn't going to tell on her, which made her relax a little although she hadn't really realized she'd been on edge. She supposed she shouldn't have been surprised though. It wasn't that Nate made her feel uncomfortable...it was just the whole day. It was easy to be on edge after everything that had happened. It was quite traumatic after all. She hadn't heard word on the school at all but she doubted it would be open the next few days and she also wouldn't be surprised if a shit tone of counselors were on staff when they finally did return.
"Right...yeah...Jazz is just my brother, trust me," she said, making a face. But truth be told, it wasn't the first time she'd heard it. She and Jazz didn't exactly look alike and they were close. It wasn't odd for Jasper to throw his arm over her shoulders or for Riley to take her brother's arm as they walked. That's just the way they were, and while it seemed completely normal to Riley for siblings to be close, he had been mistaken for her boyfriend before...a thought that was utterly gross to her. She knew that girls found her brother attractive, but he was her brother, Riley didn't see him that way at all. As for Nate talking about competition, Riley kept her mouth shut on that one. No, if he went after her, he wouldn't have any competition but she wasn't going to go around broadcasting the fact the there weren't any guys into her. After all, Riley knew that she and Jazz had kept to themselves since they moved here. She also knew that when the two of them were together, they weren't exactly approachable.
"Yeah...it's weird...known her forever, but I only moved here a few months ago and reconnected with her," Riley said with a shrug though. "I'm sure she'll be okay though--you're friend too," she assured him. Of course she had no way of knowing that, but it felt good to say it none-the-less. "I haven't visited her either. I probably will tomorrow. I don't like hospitals either but I guess I just like to think that I don't have to visit them often so when I do...I just gotta suck it up. I don't really want to bother her today...I'm sure she just wants to be with her family. I know if Jazz had been hurt I wouldn't have wanted to deal with anyone else," Riley said shaking her head. She couldn't help but think that that included her parents. After all, with her dad in prison and her mom bolting the minute they had their money back, Riley couldn't really be blamed for that. They had never really been much of a family anyway. They'd been raised by nannies...their father working all the time and ignoring them and their mother shopping all the time and ignoring them. Although Riley new it was terrible, she sometimes wondered if they were better off that way.
"For fun...well..." she began, trying to think but drawing a blank, "I suppose I used to party a lot but like I said I'm still kind of new here...haven't really been up to anything exciting. Anything you can recommend?" she asked, raising her eyebrows. After all, she assumed Nate was a native to LA since she had no reason to believe otherwise. "What do you do for fun around here?"

Nate listened as she talked. "Yeah that's how I feel about Trixie. She is like my sister. I like to joke that I am her twin separated at brother. Although technically that would make me a triplet because Trixie has a twin named Jay, but still. People have asked us if we ever dated or are dating and I just give them a look and say i think i just threw up because that's so gross." It was true. Trixie and Nate had literally grown up together. They kissed once and it had been so weird that both of them agreed to never speak of it. They really were like siblings.
"Maybe we can go together. Walk each other into the hospital. Because I think I will need a push or someone to drag me inside. What about your brother? I assume he knew the girl too...he going to go visit? Maybe he could come with?" Although Nate did not know Jasper so he had no idea what the guy was like at all. So Nate had no real reason to be suggesting this at all. For all he knew it could be the wrong suggestion.
"TO be honest. California is kind of boring. I have lived her for about a year and a half and I had this town figured out after a month. The best thing is probably the bars and clubs, but thats if you are into that kind of scene. ME I like to have fun> Skinny sipping at the beach, a nice game of laser tag, paint ball, you know..fun and games. Although Jay and I like to play tag using motorcycles. Its hard to explain, but kind of fun when you try it out. Sometimes you have to make your own fun."

Riley nodded, noting Trixie...another girl from school. She was pretty sure that Aly hung around with her, which meant if Jazz continued his quest to be number 1 in the school, Nate was probably part of the group she'd be hanging out with. He seemed like a nice enough guy though, so she figured maybe it all wouldn't be so bad. Riley still felt reluctant about the whole trying to be popular now that they had money thing...but she couldn't put her finger on why. Perhaps she was just afraid that someone would find out about all the rest...
"To the hospital together...I suppose if you gave me your number I could call you before I left," she suggested. "I'm not sure if Jazz with want to come or not. He kind of left the second we got home...for all I know he's already there," she said. "But if he hasn't been there yet, I'm going to try and get him to go," she said.
"Is it? It seems to have the same things as New York...they're just more spread out," she commented. "I don't know if I'm really into the club and bar scene anymore...its only been a few months...but without my old friends...I don't know if it will be the same. Perhaps Aly will be able to drag me out once she gets better and then I'll get into it again," she commented. Listening to his idea of fun...Riley wasn't really too into it. The skinny dipping on the beach could perhaps be fun...she could imagine a good drunken night of running down to the beach, shedding your clothes and just running into the water...but then again Riley didn't live near the beach. She'd have to drive from downtown to the beach which would mean she couldn't really drink first which would probably ruin it.
The other stuff wasn't really Riley's idea of fun. "Yeah I'm not so much on the games," she said with a shrug. Laser tag seemed especially juvenile. "Motorcycles are cool though," she commented, "What do you have?" she asked, adding, "Not that I know anything about them--if you say a model I might have heard of it, but I stress the word might," she said with a laugh. She reached over and picked up her drink, finishing it, she signaled to the bartender to bring her another.

"Usually I am the one asking for the number." He smirked and wrote his number down, "You can use it for more then just metting up at the hospital. As a matter of fact I hope to hear from you more then once." He smiled as he handed her the napkin. She was a hottie. Nate surely would not mind gettting to know her more personally. Of course that was his libido talking, but that's besides the point. Nate's libido said that about a lot of women. Riley was one of many, but she had this thing about her. "I grew up in Salem, so going to New York was my vacation. Although I guess that means I took my vacation a lot. Especially during school days." It use to be fun to skip school and go to New York for an overnight trip.
"Yeah I will have to drah Trixies brother with me. I can only imagine what hole he is drinking himself into right now. Was your brother close to Aly? Or was she more your friend?" Nate was just curious. "See I am closer to Trixie, then I am to her brother. He is a bit of a hot head." It was true. Jay was a little to dangerous for his taste.
"It easier to show you my bike then it is to describe it, but its a beauty." He told her, "Like a good looking woman. I should give you a ride sometime." He smiled at her. He would not mind having some fun, "sometimes games are all people have. Although if you can think of something more fun that you would like to to, then I am all for it. It would be interesting to see what you can come up with." He finished his soda and smiled at her. "I think this could be the beginning of a nice friendship." Nate was cocky enough to think Riley would want to hang out with him again.

Riley smirked at his cockiness when she had asked for his number. In a lot of ways he was very different from Jasper. He seemed much more relaxed for one. However, he did have an arrogance about him, much like Jasper did. In assuming she'd want to call him...go out with again. That's not to say she wouldn't go out with him, she was usually up for giving guys a chance, but she hadn't spent enough time with him to know if she really liked him as more than a friend or not.
Riley ripped off a piece of the napkin and wrote down her number and slid it over to him. "Salem cool...actually never been there," she said with a shrug. "There was a lot to do in New York though," she agreed, not really put off by the fact he admitted to skipping school because its not as if she'd always gone either.
"Jazz and Aly were friends..." Riley said not really sure how else to define their relationship. Really it was more like a giant game of cat and mouse with the roles reversing daily. Or at least that's how it had been...there was no telling what it would turn into now.
"Well, then you will have to show it to me some time," Riley said. "I must admit, I don't drive yet. Don't really need to in New York. I know I should learn how to drive since in LA its more necessary but my brother just bought a new car for his birthday so he can driver me and you know, when in doubt hire a driver," she said with a shrug, forgetting who she was talking to for a moment. Perhaps he wasn't really wealthy like she was....perhaps she'd just made herself sound like a snob. Riley really tried not to sound spoiled but she was so used to it that sometimes it slipped out.
But before she could save herself her cell beeped: a text message from Jasper. "I actually gotta go," she said, finishing off her drink in one large sip. "I'll see you around though," she said, as she threw money down on the bar. She gave him a wave as she headed out to meet her brother.
