[Character Name: Mallory Harper] [Location: Random park on the swings]
Mal had not seen it coming. No one had. She had been playing with her phone when the shots first started. Mal had just missed getting shot. She found a classroom and his underneath the desk in the room. She waited until she heard cops asking any students in the classroom to come out. Mal had been so scared that it took her all day to calm down. She heard about Brit and Aly from listening in as some Assistant Principles talked. Mal had no idea what happened but she knew Aly had been shot.
When Mal was finally able to go home she rested a little, but even she could not really rest. She could not sit still. Mal decided to make a memory video...something to show the happy times at Gould and she would include Silver too. It was for everyone. Mal had finally remembered her hidden cameras in both school. No doubt they caught it on tape. The cops would probably want the tapes, so Mal would have to go get them, but still. it sucked.
Mal's mom was being over protective and really annoying right now, but she had been scared. Her babies could have died. Mal was finally able to get out of the house. She walked down the street and to a park. She found a swing set she use to lay on. Her favorite was always the swings. Mal sat down and started to swing. She looked around and noticed someone walk over to her. "You ever wish you could go back in time...be a kid again...everything seemed better as a kid...."

Ashley was sat on a bench in the park trying to negate the days events in his mind, he had been scared beyond believe by the events of the morning, not of dying so much as he would be leaving his son without a parent that gave a toss about him. Ashley had been driven home by his mother after what happened, they had dropped everything when the news hit that the school had been hit.
He was currently attempting to try and bury his head in the proverbial sand, he had wanted to cut himself of from everything that had happened this afternoon, people he knew had been hurt and a couple of people he knew of had died, more of course had both died and been injured.
Ashley walked over to one of the empty swings plonking himself down into the seat of the swing itself, he heard the girl next to him say something and turned with a smile on his lips that didn't quite manage to reach his eyes, and he looked more tired than he had ever done.
"They think its so much easier when their kids, and of course it is... but would I want to be a kid again, hell no... after the day I have had I'd rather leave childhood far behind." Ashley said to her with a shake of his head.

Mal looked at the guy who spoke. She noticed his smile, but much like her own it had a hint of sadness to it. "You have a point. I just wish i could go back to that fantasy world you had when you were a kid. The world of tea parties and dress up. Not that I ever did any of that..." She said trying to make a joke, but it just did not feel right to be joking. "I guess there are somethings you still aren't prepared for no matter what."
Mal felt so guilty for making fun of Zac and for calling him tweedle dee or tweddle dumb. It seemed so insignificant now that he had been shot. "I have a friend in the hospital and I can't even muster up the guts to go see him. I just cant do it....I cant go there and look at him." If that made her selfish then so be it, but she could not. "I know this might sound weird, but to see him makes it real you know...I am still hoping this is some nightmare we have all been sucked into."
Mal moved the swing a little, but not enough to lose sight of the guy she did not know. Then again talking to strangers was nothing new for Mal. She looked at the guy. "I am Mal." She offered so at least the guy would no longer thing her a crazy chick who talked about being a child and not being able to go to the hospital.

Ashley nodded in agreement, "It seems if you stop for a while like the truth will actually sink in about what we have all been through today, I guess I was one of the lucky ones, that none of the people I think of as friends, were hurt by what happened." Ashley said to her. "But we all could have died today, so we have something to be grateful for." Ashley added. "When I finally got home this afternoon I had to deal with a two year old boy, who was distraught about me leaving this morning for school. Its not like he could have known any of this could happen to me or anyone else at the school, but he was determined to keep me from leaving the house this morning." Ashley said to her.
"Seeing him this afternoon when I got home made the whole mess so much more real for me." Ashley said to her. "You should go see your friend though, it won't make you feel any better, and I guess that very few things will make things better for a while yet." Ashley said to her with a sad smile on his face.
"Nice to meet you Mal, I'm Ashley it feels good to be out in the open for some much needed hot fresh air, I guess you can't have everything." Ashley said the New Yorker in him would have preferred a colder climate right about now.

"Oh we are all very lucky. The casualties could have been worse. Of course it would have been nicer had no one died, but..." Mal just shrugged. "At least it was not worse." Although even saying that made Mal feel so horrible. It was a day she would love to forget but figured it would not happen. "You have a son...but you are so young....but he sounds adorable. I bet you are a great dad. Your son is lucky you are okay." Just talking to Ashley and how kind he was being told Mal he was a good father.
"I was thinking of doing a tribute video to the school or rather the students. I have pictures of students from both Gould and Silver so it would contain both schools. I am just missing the song to use, but I think a tribute video would be nice. I would make one for the ones who have died, but I have no idea who died and who was injured."
Mal continued to move in the swing. She looked down for a moment and then back at Ashley. "You are right. I should go visit Zac, but it still freaks me out. I might go tomorrow, when I have a day. At least one day to absorb it all you know." The fresh air was nice. Ashley was right about that. "I went home for a bit. My mom did not want me to leave, but I needed fresh air like you. I needed to get out and clear my head. Try and make sense of why this all happened."

Ashley smiled with pride, "His two, so yeah I was a little on the young side as was his mom when he was conceived, my mom didn't think it was a good idea for him to see me upset, not after the day he has had anyway, so mom and dad are sitting with him, and my brother is coming home on leave for a couple of days." Ashley said to her.
"So many people died today excluding the people behind it who weren't taken alive if there were any, I haven't been by the school but I imagine the front of the school will have been turned into a tribute area by the morning, you know flowers scarves and all the usual stuff." Ashley said as his phone vibrated he took his phone out looking down at the message he answered with a small smile. "A friend of mine from school, text me to let me know she was okay, I hadn't spoken to her today, but it was good to know she's okay." Ashley explained as he returned his phone to the pocket.
"I don't think its meant to make sense, if it did, it wouldn't do us any good, people came into our school and attacked us, killed people we knew and for what... it was senseless their is no other word for it." Ashley said to her. "The first thing I did when I got home was hugged my son to death." Ashley said to her with a smile.

"Like they say...age is just a number in the grand scheme of life. So you had a child at a young age. You seem like you are a really good father and that's what matters. Plus it sounds like you have a really good family. Your son is lucky to have you all. That's what a child needs. To know they are loved by their mom, dad, grandparents, aunts uncles...I could go on. As long as a child has all that it does not matter how old the parents are in my book." Mal told Ashley. Mal hated to be judged just because she chose to dress in punk like clothes. So who was she to judge this man just because he had a child.
"I have no idea who was killed or hurt at all. I only know about my friend because my boyfriend texted me. I hear my friends step sister was shot and thats all I really know to be honest. " Mal said looking depressed. The saddest thing was she probably had it all caught on tape due to the hidden cameras she planted at Gould, but Mal did not have the guts to go check them out. "I hear there is going to be a memorial tomorrow. Its on the mews. I plan to make a tribute video to show. Probably to the song "What Hurts the Most"." Mal was not normally a Rascal Flatts fan but it seemed to fit for some reason. "Or that Nickle back song 'If somebody cares' I can't really remember the name."
Mal smiled a small smile when he said he hugged his son to death. "I hugged my younger sister. She is a freshmen. We are as different as night and day, but the fact that she was alive. IT just...I could not help it. We fight all the time, but not today." She told him.
