Nothing like a walk on the beach (Izzy tag Any)

Izzy considered herself lucky compared to most people. Some had been shot, some had seen horrible things. Izzy had been hit with the barrel of a gun. However, having a gun in your face and not know what would happen was scary. For a moment....a few seconds...Izzy actually thought she was going to die. But then the guy hit her. Next thing Izzy knew was she was waking up on the floor with paramedics over her. It took her an hour to find out about her brother.

Izzy took Jett home as soon as she could. Jett had been shot, where Izzy had been hit in the head. Yet they made it home. Jett needed to rest, they all did. Izzy was told she had a minor concussion. However, she did not want to go to a doctor. The paramedics told her to try and stay awake for at least 12 hours. Izzy helped Jett get to bed and then she went to try and read. Hours went by and Izzy was on the same page. She could not concentrate.

Izzy decided to go for a walk along the beach. She was thankful that Ben and Eden were okay. Izzy had talked to her mom on the phone. Her mom claimed she would be home as soon as possible, but Izzy doubted it. Izzy lived semi close to the beach. So she walked the short distance to the beach and decided to walk along it. This day would never be forgotten. Izzy hated it. She even heard some kids got arrested. It was horrible. Izzy would never look at school the same way again. Izzy found a nice spot and just sat down.She did not expect company, but company would be nice.....

Takumi's parents had arrived and he'd finally been released, having proven himself not to be a member of this Asian Boyz gang. His mother grabbed him and refused to let him go as they made their way across the car parking area and even maintained her grip on his hand as they drove home. She was reluctant to let him leave the house but relented after he'd assured her he wouldn't be going far.

"I just need some air, mama," he said. "And I have my phone... see?" He showed it to her and she relactantly nodded.

Taki wandered out of the house, calling Lia as he went and frowning slightly when all he heard back was her voice mail.

"Lia-chan, its Takumi. I wanted to see how you and your brother are. Call me back when you have a chance, ok? Bye..."

His next call was to Thad and it seemed this wasn't his lucky day.

"Otouto-san. Call me as soon as you can." Nothing more was needed as no one else used that name for the boy.

The phone was returned to his pocket and the youth trudged down onto the beach... almost instantly spotting a figure he knew well.

He jogged over to where she stood, staring out to see. "Izzy!" he greeted and on impulse he drew her into a hug born out of sheer relief. "I am so glad to see!" He peered more closely at her and in particularly at the bruising lump on her head. "You've been hurt," he stated. "What happened?"

Izzy had just been about to sit down. Her body was even moving that way when all the sudden she heard her name. But before she even had the chance to look someone had their arms wrapped around her body and was hugging her. It took a few seconds to recognize Taki as being the person who was hugging her. Once she knew who it was Izzy hugged him back tightly. She was glad he was safe. Izzy did not need anyone else she knew to be hurt.

Izzy touched her head lightly when Taki asked. "Oh that...Its nothing..just a concussion...I got hit...with the barrel of a gun...I think. I know I was hit with something. To be honest its a bit blurry. But I know one of the shooters did this." It was because she was Asian too and that sucked. Talk about discrimination.

"I am glad you are okay. You are not hurt are you?" Izzy asked looking Taki over. She let out a sigh of relief. "Its good because I could not handle anyone else I know being hurt." Then again Izzy had no idea who all had been hurt. "All I know is my brother was shot. I saw him right after school. He is okay. He was shot in the arm, but fine. He is at home resting. I needed to clear my head."

"I am fine!" he assured her. "But I am glad your brother is ok! I don't really know who else was hurt. Jandro and Lia's brother was shot but I don't know his name." He reached up to gently touch her head. "Should you be out alone? I mean... " He half grinned. "I supposed you aren't out alone now." He was with her.

"For some reason I was arrested," Taki went on as they sat down on the dry sand. "They thought I was part of a rival gang just because I am Asian... and... aah... fighting." He went on to tell Izzy all about the sprinklers and fire extinguishers incident in the cafeteria. "I am assuming the school will be closed for some time. Most of the students will need help getting past this and the school has been damaged a fair bit also but I still don't understand why it all happened. Who were those people? And what did they have against the school? Is it some sort of racial war?" Takumi only assumed that as this 2nd gang was called 'Asian Boyz' and the gunmen had appeared to be of a Spanish or Mexican type of descent. "Its just... crazy," he finished and he reached for her hand as he spoke. They were both of the race that had been targeted at the school and he knew they were lucky to have survived.

Izzy smiled when Taki touched her head. He did it nice enough that it did not hurt. Although she had a huge headache. Izzy did have Tylenol, but she left it at home. Shoot. "The paramedic said I will be fine as long as I don't go to sleep until about midnight and if I do go to sleep my mom is suppose to wake me up every hour. Apparently a concussion can kill someone when they sleep." The paramedic had explained it, but Izzy's head had hurt so much at the time she did not understand it.

"So I figured I would come out here and sit, so I would not fall asleep." Granted it was also no where near midnight and her mom was not home to wake her up and her brother was sleeping so Izzy would have to set her alarm every hour to wake herself up. Just another day at her house, but no one needed to know that. She gave a small smile when Taki said she was not alone. n"Unless you are some ghost, but I think I have had my fair share of excitement for the rest of the week." A haunted light house and then a shooting. Yeah this had been one hell of a week and it just started.

"You really did all that. In the cafeteria." Izzy could not believe it. "Thank god you are alive and you got arrested. MY god, how horrible." She took his hand too and smiled a small smile when he grabbed for it. "I heard something on the news about gang violence in Compton. Hispanic and Asians, but no one knows why they targeted the school. From what I over heard when the paramedic was working on me. The Hispanic guys came to the school looking for someone who was either a member of the Asian boyz or someone who use to be a member. But I have no idea if that is the real story or not."

"Ah, so," he replied with a slight nod. "They kept asking for 'Phan'... I wasn't sure who or what that was but someone told me it was the name of a teacher. Phan is a Thai or Vietnamese name I think so maybe they were after that person." It made sense... of a kind. Sense of a situation that really had no logic in it what so ever. "I have been trying to speak to Thad but he hasn't answered his phone. Sidra was also arrested but I don't know why. Jandro killed someone," he added in a low voice. "I was there... I saw it. He killed the man who shot his brother and I don't know if the cops released him." Takumi frowned slightly. "It wasn't murder. I told the cops that. He was protecting his brother." Would he go to prison? Taki wasn't sure of that but he prayed he wouldn't.

"So tell me, how did you come to being hurt, Izzy-chan? And your brother... Was he shot at the same time or was he somewhere else?" Takumi was fast realising how lucky he'd been in escaping with little more than a soaking thanks to the sprinklers. So many other students had been hurt... and others he knew had died today. It was too much for any person to take in, let alone to accept.

[Lia Juarez]

Lia left her phone at home when she went to the post office to pick up a package she found a slip in the box for. Jandro was napping in an attempt to recover from the trauma of being arrested. When Lia got home she left the box on her mother's desk and went to look at what was available to make for dinner. Her mom had said they could go out or order in, but she was thinking it might be fun trying to cook. Plus if she didn't spend the money going out she could possibly go to the New Age shop and get the Athame and cauldron she wanted to set up her altar.

She almost passed her phone by, but then almost had a heart attack when she caught the missed call light gleaming out of the corner of her eye. What if it was about Saint? She grabbed the phone and keyed in to get the message. Hearing Takumi's voice made her heart start again and she almost started talking to him even though it was only a message.

After laughing at herself, she save his number and called Taki. She hummed and went through the cupboards as she waited for an answer

"He is the art teacher at Gould." everyone knew Mr. Phan. Hell Izzy knew all the teachers. She was on the newspaper and she would often run articles for teachers or write congratulations for birthdays or other sort of things for the student and teachers. How could she not. "I heard he was among the dead. its just so sad...poor Si..and this guy Jandro...how can the police blame him if the guy killed his brother. Surely its justifiable...I don't know what I would have done had my brother died." Izzy might not kill a man, but she was not really sure what she would have done to be honest and what Jandro did Izzy thought was fine.

"Oh this." She motioned to her head. "I was working on my column for the newspaper when I heard the shots. I thought it was just some kids messing with fire crackers.So I went to check it out. When I walked out there was this guy...with a gun.." This is when her voice got shaky. "I was alone, my brother was some where else in the school." She told Taki. "I was so scared. I was sure he was going to shoot me. They guy said somethings I would rather not repeat." Izzy said her voice still shaky. "An..Anyway..some other guy said something else and before I knew it the man with the gun in my face hit me...in the head and the next thing I knew I woke up with the paramedics over me."

Izzy squeezed Taki's hand as she finished her story. It was hard to discuss let alone hard to remember. Izzy had been so, so scared then. "We all saw horrible things, but I am just glad we are okay." She gave Taki a smile. Then his phone started to ring. "Um..should you get that."

Takumi squeezed her hand as he listened to her tale, knowing all too well how terrified she must have been. And to have faced it alone? That was even worse. She'd been lucky, though, not to have been killed - more so given her Asian looks. His phone rang just as Izzy finished speaking and he rummaged for it when she urged him to answer.

"Its Lia," he stated, her name showing in kanji symbols on its display screen. "Hai, Lia! Thanks for getting back to me," he said into his phone. "How is Jandro and your injured brother?" He listened as she told him. "And you? How are you...? I am down on the beach with Izzy... Why don't you come and join us? I am trying to prevent Izzy from sleeping," he said, adding a wink for the girl at his side. "No, not by being boring, " he answered with a short laugh. They chatted for a few moments longer with Takumi doing his best to persuade Lia to come and meet up with them. She'd been through so much as well... They all had.

School - whenever it was reopened - was going to be an ordeal for each and every one of them... More so for those who had lost siblings. It would take some time before many of them could face it.

He hung up. "Not sure if she'll come but... hopefully so. Jandro has been released and is back home. Saint - the one who was shot - is still in a bad state it sounds. And Jett...? He will recover soon enough, Izzy-chan. Rest easy on that score."

[Lia Juarez]

Lia laughed as she hung up the phone, Takumi had spoken so fast she barely got a word in edgewise, but his enthusiasm was one of the reasons she liked him so much. She changed quickly for she didn't want to get sand on her skirt. She wore a tank top and a pair of cut off shorts along with flip flop sandals. She tied back her blond hair for the breeze on the beach would make it tangle for hours worth of combing later. She told Jandro where she was going and other than sending a greeting to Takumi, he showed no interest. He had really been affected badly by the days events.

She grabbed her bike and headed toward the beach. They weren't far from it at all only a couple of blocks and she had a very good idea where Takumi and his friend were. She locked up the Bike at the Bike stands and headed down the beach. She saw them a ways off and
waved wildly before beginning to run. It wasn't long before she skidded to a stop next to them .

"Hi! I'm Lia Juarez. It's nice to meet a friend of Takumi's. He was quite a hero today!" she said smiling brightly at the pretty Asian girl.
