Dare managed not too lose consciousness until he was lifted and carried to the infirmary. It was as if the paramedics found every bump and cut short every corner to make sure he experienced the utmost pain from his single bullet embedded in the back of his right thigh. Finally it was too much and he passed out as they got the cart caught on the curb to the sidewalk. By the time he was conscious again, his jeans were in pieces and he was woozy from blood loss, but in no danger whatsoever. They stitched him up after the bullet was extracted and then bandaged him. Someone fetched his guitar for him when it was clear he was fretting for it. Then he agonized over his jeans which had been signed by all the members of Aerosmith. The nurse pulled them out of the garbage for him and he finally fell asleep exhausted.
