Family Background and History: Hannah was born when her mother Daisy was only 17 years old. Daisy didn't have a steady boyfriend and wasn't exactly sure who the father was. Entirely ashamed, she fled Savannah after a particularly terrible fight she had with her father and traveled to Nashville, TN. Her dream of becoming a country singer kept her waiting tables in that area, hoping to eventually be discovered. Shortly after Hannah was born, luck befell Daisy and she was in fact discovered by a producer named Chuck Bell. Throughout the development of Daisy's first CD, her and Chuck began a relationship. Chuck treated Hannah as if she were his own daughter, and Hannah absolutely adored Chuck. The CD sold very well, with the song “Ain't No Heart Broke Gal” staying at number one for seven weeks. Chuck was hired away by a larger label in Los Angeles, and Daisy and Hannah followed after. The two were married shortly after, and they started work on a sophomore album once Chuck was finished with his other projects. It was interrupted, however, when Daisy's father died in a drunk driving accident, and Daisy brought Hannah home to Georgia to reconnect with her family. After the funeral, the pair returned to LA where Daisy finished her CD, which brought about another major hit, “Daddy's Girl,” which Daisy had written while home in Georgia. Daisy continues to write music, however none of her songs have found the success of her previous hits. Chuck continues to produce music.
Hannah was brought up by her mother to be a lady, hoping to keep her from the mistakes she made as a teen. Hannah found she had many interests, and involved herself in everything she could. As a child she studied dance, piano, and the clarinet, took voice lessons, and played any sport that she could. She found she had many friends in all of her activities, but none she was very close with. In middle school she took up acting, and found that to be her biggest interest. She devoted more time to the theatre than anything else she had done before and soon began getting the best roles in her middle school. Once she reached high school, however, she soon found that between theatre, school, band, volleyball, softball, track, cheerleading, color guard, and all the clubs she joined she was burning herself out. She was unable to focus on anything. Her grades dropped and she was getting little to no recognition in theatre or band. She was consistently in a subordinate role, and she hated it. On top of all of this, Daisy had discovered Chuck was cheating on her and the two had a messy divorce. Near the end of the school year, Hannah had a nervous breakdown and nearly had to drop out. She barely finished the year, and her mom thought it would be best if Hannah spent some time in Georgia with her grandmother. Hannah stayed through the summer and fall, going to school in Savannah, but after one semester she was ready to come home. She has rejoined Gould at the semester, and has committed to cutting back on her extracurriculars, though she has not enjoyed explaining her absence.

Writing Sample: Hannah woke to the sounds of shouting coming from downstairs. Great, her mother's found another jerk. She glanced at her cellphone and saw that it was just past seven, meaning the guy had actually stayed the night. Hannah hated it when her mother let guys stay the night, hell, she hated knowing that her mother was dating again. She put her pillow over her head and tried to fall back asleep.
The shouting eventually ended. Hannah relished the time between waking up and her alarm going off, and she drifted in between sleep and wake. Her mind wandered, and she envisioned a life where her step-father had never left, and that he was even her real father, and they were happy and together once again. Her reverie was suddenly interrupted, however, by a strange weight flopping on top of her. She jumped up and was assaulted by a wet tongue drenching her face.
“Mornin' sweetie,” her mom giggled, standing in the doorway. “Happy belated Valentine's Day. I finally found you a date!”
Hannah didn't know what to say. She sat and absorbed the slobbery kisses her new friend was giving her. He was just a puppy, couldn't have been much more than a few months old. He was still quite small, and covered in black, brown, and white fur.
Hannah's mom watched her cuddle the puppy, pleased with her purchase. “He's a beagle. The Timmons' down the street had a friend whose beagle just had puppies, an' I know you have been wantin' one.”
“Momma he's the cutest!” Hannah began tearing up with joy. “Oh I'm gonna love him so much! Does he have a leash? I wanna walk him right now!” Daisy nodded. Hannah jumped up, still holding the dog. She ran over to her mom, kissed her on the cheek, and ran towards the stairs. “I'll figure out a name for him while I'm out. Be back soon!”
“The leash is by the front door!” Daisy called out, but she figured Hannah must have seen it as the door slammed before she could finish the sentence.
