He shook his head. "No. I was lucky in that my parents house was in a quiet residential part of the city. Whenever I went into the centre I'd make sure I went with a group of friends. My sister was the one I worried about but she never had any trouble either. The closest I came to being a victim I guess was when I was walking past a shop that was under attack. The men ran out and started shooting but I was able to duck down behind a car." At 6 feet and 2 inches Felipe rarely found himself a target as such although he wasn't sure how he'd react if that situation were to change.
"My father made me take up fencing as a means to protect myself but it was pretty dumb really as it's illegal to carry a sword around with you," he said with a laugh. The classes did teach him how to maintain his balance well and to fight with a length of wood or a piece of metal piping... should he ever find himself cornered.
"It wasn't as bad as it sounds," Felipe assured her. "Rio has it far worse than we did in São Paulo but its hard to see a town like Bradford would have such troubles. It looks to be a friendly place to me... I think perhaps first impressions aren't always correct after all!"
They'd reached the auditorium by now and Felipe peered inside. "Ana... thank you for all your help. I hope we can talk together again. I would like to hear more of your thoughts on ancient civilisations."
He turned to leave but stopped, looked back at her and smiled.
"It means 'my little princess'..."

"At least you were not hurt during that. I admit I do not deal with violence very well. I tend to freeze. Then again to be honest my life has never really been filled with violence so I have been lucky." The most violent thing to happen was when Fal tore her room to shreds that one day and she had to be held down to be taken away. She also had to be sedated. She had been that bad, but thank god for medication. she no longer had violent outbursts like that. Just little temper tantrums. Fal hated telling people she was bipolar because then she had to admit that moment in her life when she was in a mental hospital and it made her feel like she was a bad person. "Well I believe California is pretty peaceful. So you should be safe."
"Here we are. It looks crowded but I am sure there is a seat for you." She told him with a smile. "it was a pleasure to meet you and I hope to see you again. Here is my number, text me or call me. I am always up for hanging out with a new friend." Fal handed him the paper and smiled as he left to go into the room. Then he turned around and told her what it meant. "I defiantly like the way that sounds and I looked forward to discussing the difference between the Greeks, romans and the vikings some day soon. Have a good day." Fal smiled to herself and turned to leave to head for her class.
