Name: Alia Grace Mitchell
Nickname: Ali
Age: 17
Birthday: December 2nd
Place of birth: New York City, New York
Grade: 11th
Appearance: Alia certainly has something about her that makes a lot of people do a double take. She's 5'10" and weighs a total of 138 lbs. It's more than likely her height and the fact that she is very slender. While she's slender she's not in any way underweight. She's got curves, though chooses not to flaunt that fact. Her chocolate brown hair falls to about the middle of her back and unfortunately is straighter than straight. Her eyes are a striking emerald green color, that tend to catch a lot of attention. More than once she's been asked if she wears contacts, though she merely rolls her eyes at that question. She tends to think her eyes are her best feature, because she likes to think the eyes are the window to ones soul. When she chooses to smile, she actually has a really pretty one that lights up her face. But she's not an overly smiley type person, so a lot of people don't get to see it.
Alia doesn't really have a style, she just tends to wear whatever she feels comfortable in. Mostly she can be seen running around in jeans and t-shirts, though occasionally she'll wear skirts that show off her long legs. She's not one to normally follow fashion trends, but if she sees something she likes and it happens to be in fashion, she has no problem wearing it regardless of what others think. Her mom has been trying for ages to get Alia more into the fashion scene, thinking that how one looks is a reflection of who they are, but Alia could actually care less if people like what she wears.. She has each ear pierced three times (despite the disapproval of her mother). Twice in the lobes, and once at the top of her ears.
Personality: Alia is what most consider rather bitchy. She's not one who skirts around issues, in fact she tends to be rather blunt with her opinion. She doesn't really care what people think about her, she's not really trying to make a whole horde of friends. She hates ignorant people, and would probably be the first to point out the errors of their ways. She's been known to trash-talk the jocks and cheerleaders, and well she's actually quite lucky she hasn't been beat up because of this yet. Because of her attitude, she's not one of the uber-popular girls in the school. But it's also that same attitude that makes her well known to most. People either love her or hate her. It's just the way it is with her.
She's the sort of person who once she decided that someone is her friend, they're friends forever. Her friends get to see the softer side of Alia, and it's almost like a complete personality change. With her friends, she jokes, laughs and is basically an all around nice person. Though, she's kind of pushy because when she sees a friend acting in a way she deems retarded, she'll try to set them straight. She's very protective of her friends, and will mouth off to anyone who tries to step over the line in any way with them. She doesn't like to see the underdog kicked, and even though she's bitchy will try to stick up for them. This is probably why she doesn't get on all that well with people with a higher social standing than herself, because those are normally the people who pick on everyone around them.
Town area: Riverside
Job: She works as a sales associate at Bath and Bodyworks
Transportation: White 1999 Honda Civic - her parents got her it when they moved (they secretly hoped it would help make things not appear so bad - it didn't.)
Family background: Alia was born and raised in New York City, New York. Her father was a successful journalist who was constantly on trips all around the world to try and get that next breaking story. Her mother use to be a teacher but as soon as Alia was born, decided to give up her job to take care of her family full time. Alia can’t say her childhood was awful, in fact it was far from it. She was even pretty happy when her mom had her little brother Balin when she was 3.
From the time she was in Pre-School Alia was always enrolled in private all girls academies. She did well in school until she hit high school and it was then Alia decided that she hated all girls schools, actually not just hated but detested them. She wanted to go to public school like all the normal teenagers and let her parents know. Obviously her parents thought that they knew what was best for their daughter and ignored her request for a school change. Since her parents wouldn’t listen to her complaints, Alia started to rebel. First it was small things like ignoring her parents and the ever popular - talking back. Over time though it began to take a more serious route.
The beginning of her Sophomore year Alia feel for one of the local 'bad boys' - Brad. He was a few years older and even though he came from a nice family life herself, he was nothing but trouble. When Alia's parents found out who she was dating they tried to forbid her from ever seeing him again. Obviously that backfired. Not only did she become mouthier than usual but she began sneaking out of the house to see him and plain refused to stop seeing him.
Part way through her Sophomore year she got caught shoplifting. Brad had wanted a certain type of cologne for his birthday, and since Alia’s parents had refused to give her money to waste on Brad, she took matters into her own hands. Charges weren’t pressed, but she wasn’t allowed to go into a lot of stores after that. Of course she was grounded - in fact her mother said she was going to be grounded until she was out of college.
A few weeks later she snuck out of her house and met up with Brad. They went to a party, and unfortunately, that party was busted by the cops and Alia was charged with underage drinking. After that, her parents decided she needed to be away from the current scene she was, so her father took a job with the Los Angeles Times, it didn't pay as much but it got Alia away from the crowd she had been hanging out with.
She's now been attending Gould for close to a year and while she doesn't exactly hate it per say, she still wishes that her parents would ease up and let her go back to NYC. It's not likely to happen, but Alia can dream. She's also become a bit more involved in the school than she'd been when she first arrived. While she doesn't have a lot of people she'd call close friends - there are a few she can stomach. She's recently become involved in the school newspaper, and while her father hasn't said it, he's quite proud that Alia seems to be showing interest in something that he does for a living and also something he too enjoys.

Alia leaned back from her parents computer screen and rubbed her eyes. She'd just spent half the day reformatting the stupid thing. She couldn't believe how incredible computer stupid her parents were. Well her mother she could understand, but her dad..She would have thought that since he was a journalist he would have some knowledge on how not to kill his PC. But no all that stuff was left to Alia.
With a slight shake of her head she pushed away from the now healed computer and wandered off to her bedroom. She hadn't actually planned on spending most of her day fixing her dad's problems. She had actually planned on starting her book. Well at least coming up with a general outline for it at least. But no, that thought had ended as soon as a series of curse words and banging had emitted from her parents room.
Glancing about her fairly neat room, Alia let out a loud sigh. She so didn't want to spend the rest of her evening locked away in her room. And spending time with the parental units and siblings was completely out of the question. And who knew what experiment her mother was going to try to pass off for dinner. The night before it had been something with eggplants and tofu. Alia actually shivered in disgust just thinking about it.
Quickly she yanked off her t-shirt and sweatpants, and pulled on a pair of jeans and a tank top that had 'Like what you see? Call 1-800-DREAM-ON' printed across it. Humming under her breath she walked over to her vanity and ran her fingers through her hair, fluffing it up a bit. Satisfied with her looks, she quickly slipped her feet into a pair of flip flops and headed out of her room, happy with the though of escaping her family for a few hours.
Heading to the kitchen, she poked her head inside long enough for the famous, "Going out, be back later" line before she quickly darted out the door. She couldn't give her mother the chance to guilt her into staying home with the family. And if her mother had the chance... she surely would have used it. But she'd made her break, so with a happy whistle she headed out to her car and started it up before pulling out of the driveway.
------
Twenty minutes or so later she arrived in front of the mall. By now she was dying of thirst and she could have kicked herself for not having thought to bring a bottle of water with her. Pushing her way through a crowd of senior citizens she made her way inside. First order of business, drink. Seeing all the people inside she arched a brow. So she hadn't been the only person with the ideas of escaping home. With a shrug of her shoulders, she somehow weaved her way through the crowds of shoppers to the Food Court.
