"Come on! This way!" Sophie said excitedly as she tugged her older brother along by his sleeve. They'd gotten to school early today which meant they had time to play before class started. Playing for Sophie meant heading to the music room. While her older brother Noah, also shared her love for music he'd never really been involved with any of the music programs at school since he'd always been so tied down with football. Sophie, who of course despised football and loved her brother, thought that this was a travesty and liked to bring out his musical side whenever she could.
The blonde wore her curly hair down and she was dressed in a short skirt with cartoon monsters printed on it and high purple socks that came over her knees. She wore a candy necklace twisted around her wrist and a large gold ring that was shaped like a pair of scissors. In comparison her equally blonde brother was in a more muted wardrobe that consisted an old Sacramento football shirt, Abercrombie jeans, and black and white Pumas. "Empty - perfect!" Sophie said as she pushed her way into the deserted music room.
The light was on and some chairs were still set up although half of them were still put away as if someone had started to set up the room for the day and hadn't finished...or hadn't finished cleaning up from yesterday. A large brown baby grand piano sat in the center of the room and there was a drum set in the corner along with some guitars and other instruments that had been half put away along with a stack of sheet music and chorus books.
"Come on what should I play?" Sophie asked as she plopped herself down on the piano. It was the only instrument that she'd had formal lessons in when she was younger. She'd taught herself the guitar and then taught it to Noah when he'd asked. She was quite musically inclined and could usually figure out how to play a tune on any instrument if she played around with it a bit.
She mindlessly started playing the intro to The Piano Man as she waited for her brother to decide. "I don't know, Soph," Noah said a little uneasily. He knew that his sister didn't embarrass easily, or at all sometimes he wondered, but he on the other hand did and he wasn't sure he wanted his peers to walk in on him and his sister doing an impromptu duet.
And it seemed that his fears were confirmed as someone appeared in the doorway, probably hearing Sophie's piano playing out in the halls...thank goodness they hadn't been singing!
