Normally when she sat alone for lunch she would be upset she was alone with no one to talk to. But Silver felt better, especially after her run in with Xavier. He had been nice and sweet, just like Wes,and Taki maybe things were changing. Maybe she was not as invisible as she thought, which was a relief.
So this time she choose to sit alone. She choose to sit on a bench at a table outside with her lunch she brought from home. Silver did not get to get oustide much, so she sat outside during lunch when she could. Her heart issues made it hard for her to enjoy the great outdoors, but she was doing fine now. Her last check up which had been that morning had great results. Her new heart was strong.
Silver was eating her sandwich and this time she was not reading or on the computer. This time she waited for a friendly face and deicded to be a bit more confident. Even if this was a very, very small step for her. "Hey, care to join me for lunch?" She called out as someone walked by. If the person kept walking okay, if not then great. Either way just asking was a good step for Silver.

"Ohayo gozaimasu, Silver-san!" replied Takumi with a curt dip of his head. "And yes, I would very much like to join you!" He dropped down opposite her, sitting sideways on and crossing his legs. He leant one elbow on the table and balanced his bento on his lap. He peered inside the box. "Su-goi!" he breathed. Yakitori... one of his favourites. Another section held some nori, mixed with sesame seeds. A portion of rice, of course, and steamed vegetables. There was even some strawberries for after. They'd been dipped in chocolate as well and Takumi murmured a silent prayer of thanks to his okaasan.
He picked up the pair of chopsticks his mother had also provided and dipped his head once again. "Itadaki-masu!" he uttered before scooping up a piece of asparagus.
"So tell me how you are today, Silver-san," he said before taking a bite of food. "It's good to see the sun out, yes?"

"Did you get something good in your lunch?" Silver asked. She liked getting surprises in her lunch. Of course her mother had not packed Silver a lunch since elementry school. Now a days Silver made her own lunch which was fine with her.
"No accidents so far today, so i would call that lucky for me." Silver knew she was accident prone. She was well aware of it and she took the proper precautions. Now Silver was not sure if accident prone was even possible but if it was she was a perfect example, cause she always found a way to spill, run into or break something. She always made a mess. Her balance was awful. Perhaps she had an inner ear condition, which was not something she would want.
Or maybe she needed new glasses. You never know. "How was yourt weekend?" She asked him. "I am glad its sunny. I hate being cooped up inside." Sometimes you just wanted out, especially after a long day of leaning. Now Silver was smart, but even she at times didn't care for school and would rather be outdoors smelling the fresh air.
"I miss recess. I know they have PE and stuff, but recess in elementry school had been much better." She said not even sure Takumi knew what recess was. He might not. If he asked she could clarify. But yes, she missed going out doors dialy to play with the other kids.

"Oh yes, Silver-san!" Takumi replied with a bright smile. "See?" He held his bento over towards her so she could take a look and he pointed out each of the items, naming them as he went. "You are most welcome to try it," he added. "I'm glad you haven't had an accident today," he added with feeling.
He took a skewer of yakitori and nibbled the spicy chicken. "My weekend was quiet," he told Silver. "I saw Izzy for a while on Saturday but... she was busy after that. I think she had a friend to see maybe? I'm not sure." Izzy had told him, of course, but he hadn't really understood. It was easier in those instances to smile and nod... and make out he'd understood!
Like now.
recess? Not a word he'd encountered before.
Smile and nod.
It worked every time.
"Try the nori, Silver," he urged. "You like sesame seeds? They are in with the nori." Better to mention those in case she was allergic to sesame or something!

Silver smiled in respond to Taki's smile and nod. She took another bite of her food as she looked at his after he asked if she wanted to try one. Why not? It couldn't hurt right. "Sure. Thanks." Silver said taking a picece of the one he asked her about. She took a small bite, then another one, and finally finished it. Surprisingly enough it was very good. "I like that. What is it exactly?" She asked.
"I am glad you had a good weekend." Silver said. "Do you have any plans for the rest of the week?" Silver was curious. She always liked to know what people were doing. Silver was a curious person. "How are classes going?" She knew Taki had or was repeating his senior year. Which could not be easy.
Silver sipped her drink as she took another bite of her food. Thank god someone joined her for lunch. She really hadn't wanted to sit alone. Apparently asking did work. Maybe she would try it more often. It couldn't hurt right? "I might be going to another film festival this weekend. i don't remember the theme, but I like film festivals. The movies are very funny.z"

“Yakitori,” he told Silver. “Chicken... cooked on a grill. With a spicy sauce.” He held one of the bamboo skewers himself and took a bite. It really was good! He settled more comfortably on the bench, legs still crossed on the seat.
“I have nothing planned for the week,” he replied. “I’m not sure what Izzy is doing. I hope she and I can do something together though,” he added with a broad grin and a wink. “I have some homework that I hope she will help me with. English class. I still am struggling a bit in that. The other classes are ok. Except French. No one can understand me,” he confided with a wry lift of his shoulders. “They say I have an accent but... to me its everyone else that does!” Takumi laughed before spearing a small ball of sticky rice with his chopsticks.
“Hai! Movies are great! Better still if they are in my language buuut... usually I can understand enough for them to make sense. Except if they’re fast paced... or if there is a lot of... aah... slang.” He paused to frown slightly. “Slang. That’s the right word?” He had a feeling he’d remembered it correctly. “What movie is your favourite, Silver-san?”

"She's your girlfriend, I bet if you ask her she wil drop what ever she is doing to hang out with you" Silver said optimistically. Silver didn't see how a girlfriend could ignore their boyfriend if they asked them out. Izzy didn't seem like she would be mean like that. Well from what Silver observed when she saw them together. "How areyou and Izzy doing? You both have been dating for a while haven't you?" Silver had seen them around looking cozy since last semester, but she didn't know how long they had been together. "I heard she slipped on a banana peel this morning. Did you know that slipping on banana peels is a myth. No one really slips on thm. You slip on the juice that comes off the peel." Silver said.
"What are you struggling with in the class, is it the language or the material?" Silver wondered. She chuckled when Taki mentioned the accents. "I guess if I was in Japan, they would say I have an accent. Even people in America have accents despit ebeing born here." Just depended on where you lived.
Silver took a few more bites of her sandwich. "These are english movies, everytime, bthe foreign film festivals have english subtitles. i bet they might have a film festival from movies in your language. They always do. I could look at the schedule for you. Maybe you and Izzy could go." Silver suggested. "My favorite movie of all me...thats a hard one to be honest. I love movies. My favorite genre is science fiction. But my favorite movie. I am not sure I could narrow it down to just one."

Takumi beamed at Silver. "Hai... my girlfriend. We have been dating for some months now but I wouldn't ask her to change her plans for me!" That would be impolite and selfish - at least it was to him! No way would he be that way... With Izzy or anyone, come to that. "We are happy," he went on. "Although I'm not sure about Jett... Her brother. He is unable to walk," he explained. "He seems so sad all of the time. I wish..." Takumi smiled a little ruefully. "Nothing can change what happened but this is hard on them both, and so soon after losing their okaasan."
His eyes widened when Silver told her about Izzy's fall. "Son'na!" he exclaimed in disbelief. He rummaged for his phone and tried calling her right away. Her voice mail replied and instead of a message he quickly keyed in a text, asking if she was alright. That would explain why he hadn't seen her at all that morning!
"In French I just don't really understand what is being said to me. I struggle enough with English but... to try and learn another language as well is impossible," he replied. "I can remember some of the words but when we have to make a conversation with another student... then my brain refuses to work and I freeze as solid as a piece of ice." Maybe he'd do better to drop French and focus on another class...
"You would check the festival for Japanese films? Domo arigato, Silver-san! That would be great! Thank you," he repeated in English. Any films like that probably came with English sub titles and so Izzy would also be able to enjoy them. It would be good to watch a film in his own language for a change...
Some of the kids nearby began to head back insice the main bnuilding and Takumi glanced at his watch. "Already? That hour vanished as might a fall of sakura petals on the slopes of Fujisama!" He packed away the remains of his lunch. "I have enjoyed spending this time with you, Silver-san," he added with a formal enough bow of his head. "Shall we walk in together?" Hopefully he would soon hear back from Izzy as well!

"I heard about Jett. It's a shame. He has such a future. But you never know. I mean he wasn't born paralyzed, he might still have a miracle in store for him. If you believe in that kind of thing." Taki was sweet for thinking of other people and not wanting his girlfriend to change her plans just for him. Taki was a good boyfriend. It made Silver feel a little lonely for a brief moment. She didn't need a boyfriend, but it would be nice. "You mean their mother?" She asked not sure what the japanese word he said stood for so she guessed. "It is sad when bad things happen to good people."
Silver watched his reaction to what she said about Izzy, "Oh, I'm sorry. i thought you knew." She said. "I didn't know you didn't know, its just...I heard it as a rumor around the school." She said. "Its a true rumor but thats how i heard about it." She informed him.
"French is hard no matter what because the words require unique sounds. At least thats what it seems to me." She said. Although she was good at school and stuff, bt even she had her momentary sturggles, but Taki was at a bigger disadvantage.
"This was a good lunch. Thank you for keeping me company and checking on me. I will check the film fetival times this when i get home and I can text you with the day and time if they have a japanese film festival. i know they have a french one." She said to him. Not sure that would help him obviously. "Yes lets walk together. i think our next classes are in the same direction."
