The weekend couldn't have come any sooner for Abby as she lay sprawled on the warm sand. She didn't have much on under her wrap-around dress but the breeze hadn't picked up yet so she was still safe from fly-away articles of clothing. It helped to stay quit still.
One whole week of rigorous training for the girls so they would be in top condition for last night's game had drawn a lot from the teenager but it was well worth it. The girls' performed their routine flawlessly and as an added bonus, the home team had won. Abby celebrated it by resting at home.
Now that it was a Saturday, Abby found the empty beach soothing and devoid of people. She knew it wasn't going to last long so she savoured every last second of it with her eyes closed and her arms spread wide. That is until sand flew into her face and trickled into the top half of her dress.
"You gotta be kidding me." She spat out, sitting up and brushing the sand out of her hair and face.

Ivan wanted nothing more than to sleep in after last nights' victory but the idea was dashed when Sly came bounding into his room and jumped on the bed.
"I'm sorry Mr. Ivan," a housekeeper replied standing at the doorway. "He just wouldn't listen to me." She was apologetic about the incident.
"It's fine Hazel, I don't mind." Ivan replied waving her off. "I'll take care of him." She went about her business. Ivan cuddled Sly's head. "First I get a bath though!" Sly tugged away and hid his head under a pillow using the animal logic 'I can't see you, you can't see me.' Ivan chuckled and headed into the shower.
Once he finished, he dressed in a gray muscle shirt and jeans, loaded Sly into the car, grabbed a couple of Sly's favorite toys, then stopped for breakfast for the both of them. Sly always got bits of sausage from the McDonalds sausage McMuffins.
They arrived at the beach, Sly jumping around the back seat till Ivan opened the door. Sly dashed out to the water then back to the car.
Ivan grabbed the chewed up frisbee and threw it with Sly chasing it like its a wild rabbit. This went on for a few minutes till Sly ran by a girl and tossed sand on her. He cringed as Sly ran back to the car. Ivan scolded him and clipped the leash on him and walked him over to the girl.
"Sorry about that, he still thinks he's a puppy." He apologized. He looked at Sly. "What do you say?"
Sly lowered his head and raised one paw and covered his eyes as if he were embarrassed.

When she was sure she was sand free, Abby looked up and saw the owner of the dog that had kicked sand all over her. When he instructed his dog to say sorry, Abby couldn't help but smile. "That's cute." She said before scratching the dog behind its ears. "What's his name?" Abby asked as she continued to scratch the dog.
She adjusted her dress as she kneeled in front of the dog and had it do little tricks.

Ivan gave a quiet "good boy" to Sly as he finished his trick. There would be a treat later on for Sly.
"This is Sly, my rescue dog." Ivan gave a small introduction. He got down to one knee. "He's a friendly sort as you can tell. Much like me." He grinned. "I'm Ivan."
Sly was eating up the attention as if he were starved for it at home.

Abby looked up at Ivan as he introduced Sly as his rescue dog. "Did you get saved, big boy?" She asked as she turned her attention to the dog with a smile before making a face at him. At the guy's introduction, Abby gave Ivan a sideways smile. "I'm Abby. You go to Gould Silver right?" She asked. Now that she was part of the staff, she had an inclination to remember all the students who went there.
She turned back her attention to the boxer mix. "You are so cute."
