Let's Go Fly a Kite (Ana tag Any)

Ana was having a rough night. Nothing new, but the kids were overly active. Luckily she only had three of the six. Maxim was at a friends house for the night and Ivan and Karina were on a camping trip for the boy and girl scouts. So that left Lena, 7, Nikon 5, and her son Alek, 2. Which was not bad except for the fact that Lena and Nikon had been fighting all night and Alek had been crying because he had an ear infection. Ana decided they needed to go out. Perhaps being outdoors would help the kids.

So Ana gave Alek his medicine and packed some Children's Tylenol just in case. she also packed a few other things she figured she would need. Before she left she made sure Alek had a fres diaper on and then picked up two kites from the hallway closet and proceeded to the car. Once Nikon and Alek were secure in car seats and Lena was strapped in the back seat between the car seats with a seat belt, did Ana drive them to the Pier. A place she knew would be tons of fun.

She got everyone out and put Alek in the stroller and walked along the pier. She found a nice space that did not have many people around and a bench where she could watch Nikon and Lena fly kites. She hoped it was windy enough. If not then she could always go to a park near the beach. Ana helped Nikon and Lena set up their kites. She kept an eye on Alek, which was not easy, but she did her best. Once the two kids were set up she walked over and sat on the bench with the stroller.

Just when she thought things had calmed down Alek started to cry. So Ana picked him up, but he dropped his juice cup on the ground and it was now dirty. Ana sighed and looked through the diaper bag for a wipe. And what would you know....the one thing she forgot was wipes. Alek was reaching for the juice cup saying, "Juice. Juice." But Ana knew she could not give him a dirty juice cup. She spoke in Russian, "Кто - то пожалуйста помогите мне. Я нуждаюсь в перерыве." Which basically translated to Someone help, I need a break.

Finally Ana saw someone sit next to them. She was not aware if the person was a parent or just another teenager out for the night, but she figured she should ask, "Excuse me...you happen to have a baby wipe....or some thing I can use to wipe the cup with." She spoke in her best English which was broken English, but she tried.

[Ashley Bolton]

Ashley was still sorting himself out with Kai when the girl had spoken, "Uh sure." Ashley said rummaging in the bottom of the buggy before handing her the pack of wipes he had with him, "Are you okay you look stressed?" Ashley said to the girl with a smile he had seen the two older ones arguing as he walked down towards them.

"I'm Ashley, this is Kai." he introduced himself to her, now he was unsure of what to say to her that wouldn't cause her offence, she looked like a mom to him the way she dealt with the boy in her arms, but actually asking that might get him a slap in the face.

"So are they your brothers and sisters?" Ashley asked as he rummaged in his bag taking out a juice bottle which he took the cap of and handed to Kai.

"T'ank you daddy." Kai said softly Ashley smiled planting a kiss on his forehead before returning his eyes to the girl as he took back the wipes and placed them back into the bag which went back under the buggy.

"This is my little one, I think I was blessed with the best looking kid and smartest one I could have asked for." Ashley said to her a prideful smile on his lips.

"Thank you." She said with a small smile as she cleaned of the juice cup to make sure there was no dirt on the cup. She did not want her son to drink from a dirty cup. Ana handed him back the wipes and gave the cup back to Alek who happily too it and smiled. Alek looked at the guy and with one hand waved, said "Hi." Then went back to drinking his juice cup. Ana bounced the boy on her knee and looked at the nice guy who was talking.

Ana could understand English better then she could speak it, but her skilss were pretty good. She smiled when he asked her about her brothers and sister, "The two with the kites are my sister and brother....this little one is my pride and joy, my son Alek." she cooed at her son.

"I Ana....nice to meet you." She said in her Russian accent, "I just moved and now very thankful a park is close to my place. You come here alot?" It was nice to meet another young looking parent. It made her feel less alone. "Kai...he is cute....Hi Kai...this is Alek....Alek say hi to Kai."

Alek looked at his mother and then at Kai and said, "Hi. I 2." Then Alek tried to hold up two fingers but held up three instead, which made Ana laugh. "He is still working on his numbers." Then again Alek was only two so it was not surprising.

Ashley smiled, "The beach is even better than the park, especially when the weather is as good as it has been today, and in LA that is almost everyday, this city is hot all year round." Ashley said to her with a grin as he placed his son so the two boys could interact if they wished without Ashley clinging to them.

"They learn a mile a minute at this age, I remember when he was just speaking words, now I hear him try and say sentence's and with every little thing he does its like wow he did that today." Ashley said to her. "I never imagined I'd be that way when he was born, but its like that every time he does something new. I guess all parents get proud of their kids." Ashley said as he pushed the bangs out of his sons eyes.

"Your parents not about?" he asked, he wasn't sure he had the right to ask that question but since the girl was about his age and she had three children with her. "Alek huh well you have a very nice name Alek." Ashley said to the boy.

"I'm Kai." Kai said. "I'm 2 to." he said to Alek.

"So you go to a local school, I've not seen you around here a lot." Ashley said to her. "We usually come down here to kill time, I was actually meant to be going out tonight, but my babysitter cancelled and my parents had plans... I usually get a couple of nights a week, so I get a break and stuff, tonight was one of them, well it doesn't matter anyway, I love spending alone time with Kai." Ashley said to him.

"I have yet to go to beach. I just moved here in August. To California that is. I have lived in America for five years." Ana told the nice guy. She had met so many nice people since moving to Claiforna. People really were wrong about this state. "I should take the kids to the beach. They love to make sand castles and swim. Well except Nixon. He is the only one who cannot swim yet." Well the only one besides her two year old, but Ana did not feel the need to point out the obvious.

"Oh i know...it seems like they grow so fast. I remember when he started to crawl...seems like yesterday." She said smiling. Ana had heard parents say that all the time, but it was true. Children picked up on thins so fast these days.

"My parents died...a few months ago. I have big family. Besides those Nixon and Lena, I have another sister and two brothers at home. Plus Alek. I moved out here with Alek and my brothers and sisters to live with my aunt. My Brother Maxim is 15....he will baby sit for me so i can go out. Its nice that he helps. Don't know what I would do without them" She had done this so as not to separate anyone. Its why she called her aunt and begged her to take every one in.

Ana still missed her parents dearly and she got sad talking about them. its like Alek knew because all the sudden he was talking. Alek smiled at Ashley and Kai and laughed, "like him mommy. He nice." Alek said looking up at his mom and then back to Ashley and Kai.

Ana just smiled at Alek. Kids always said the cutest things. "You think what he said is cute, wait till you met Lena. She has a crush on any guy I meet. " It was true. Lena liked any guy Ana talked to for some reason. "Kai talks very well. He is a cutie too. You are right. All parents are proud of their kids."

Ana had to think of the name of her school for a moment. "I go to Silver. I think that's what its called. Silver....I should know my school by now, but the name still escapes me." Ana told Ashley feeling a little like an idiot, but she had been overwhelmed since the death of her parents. However, she felt bad the guys sitter canceled. That was sad. Thank god for Maxim who never canceled. "If you ever need a sitter. Let me know. I am sure Alek would love to have Kai come over for a few hours."
