He had gone out the night before with Jay and had the biggest hangover. So when Nate got to school he found a place to sit and sat there with his head on the desk. He didn't even see where he was. He was just sitting down with his head on his arms and a bottle of water next to him. Ocassionally he would lift his head to drink. This served him right to go drinking on a school night. He should have skipped, but he couldn't skip yet. He needed to save those days.
Besides Jay woke him up. Stupid Jay. Nate sighed and looked around briefly. He had a lot of fun last night. Hence why he could remember bits and peices anda girl named Mindy or Mandy. Something like that. All he knew was it was someone to talk to Haden, and Patrick about. Jay knew the details. The others did not. Nate was sure the girl went to the school so that could be fun.
Nate sighed finally sitting up. He knew he looked like crap. Most mornings after he did. He rummaged through his bag to find some aprin but it did not work. So he tapped the person sitting next to him to ask. "Got any aspirin I can have? My head is killing me. Please." He asked with a kind smile.

Eden didn't want to be in school. She didn't care about school. What was the point anyway? She had no plans of going to college anyway. No one cared if she went to college or not. She pulled okay grades on her own. Now, she wasn't some straight A kind of freak or anything, but she got B's and C's without really hitting the books. She could live with that. It wasn't as if she ever even had to get a job. Her parents were A-list celebrities, Eden could live off their fame her entire life and still be rich. That was the beauty of it all and she didn't even care if it made her sound spoiled. Her parents gave her nothing else, so why not at least take their money.
Eden of course hadn't always had this attitude, but recent events had of course sent her into a sort of downward spiral. She was out of control, only no one seemed to care. Well, Ben cared...but she just gave it right back to him. Izzy cared...but she avoided her. Jett cared, but she avoided him too. She hadn't been to see him since the accident happened...since he was still in the hospital. She couldn't bare it. She felt too guilty. It was easier to go off the deep and and blame everyone else for her problems. Maybe it was wrong, but Eden wasn't really in a place where she was ready to admit that right now. The first step was admitting there was a problem and Eden wasn't there yet.
She sauntered into class surprisingly before the bell rang. She'd smoked a bit already...wake and bake, so she was nice and mellow. She walked into her class ready to head to the back where she usually sat, only to see none other but her locker partner from last year in the back row. He wasn't even in the class. Not to mention that she couldn't stand him! He'd hit on her and had been rather aggressive until Jett kicked his ass. Oh Jett... She didn't want to be near Jay, who she was pretty sure wasn't even in this class, although class hadn't started yet either, but it was filling up and it was either sit in the front or sit by Jay. She'd take her chances.
He was sitting by some guy with his head down. Whatever. Eden wouldn't say one word to him unless provoked. She folded her arms across her chest and kept her eyes focused forward as she slid into the desk on the other side of Nate. She was dressed in one of Ben's old T-shirts that had shrunk a bit to fit her and a black denim mini skirt with ripped tights and black books. Her long blonde hair was down and a little messy in that just didn't brush it but it still looks good sort of way...bedroom hair.
She didn't know that it was Nate beside her. She'd met him the other day and they'd smoked together and then had grabbed some lunch. It hadn't been anything more than that and she hadn't really talked to him since except for a hey when she'd seen him in class. She still didn't notice it was him as he lifted his head, because she purposely was trying to ignore Jay. In fact she didn't know it was Nate until she heard his voice croaking for aspirin.
"Nate," she said, a little surprised, before smirking and rolling her eyes. "Yeah, I do," she said, reaching into her bag and pulling out a bottle of aspirin she tended to keep on hand used for cramps once a month and hangovers every so often, although the hangovers were getting more frequent, even though she was good today.
She placed the bottle on his desk and glanced at Jay for a moment, slightly awkwardly. Were they friends or something? Crap. Maybe she had gone through a tone of changes since that fateful day when Jay and tried to put the moves on her...in fact she felt like a different person, but still she'd never liked him much after that day. But Nate, well, he hadn't been a completely horrible guy. Whatever, she thought to herself darkly, turning to face forward again. It wasn't like she needed any of them. Class would start in a few minutes time and then she could zone out, pretending to pay attention, when she's really just be in a weed haze for the majority of it...well she at least hoped her high would last that long...

"Hey your the girl from, that lunch. Eden. Thanks man. I owe ya. Again." Nate felt he owed her for letting him smoke with her. He smiled and took the aspirin. He took six, four more then he needed but he had a horrible hanover. Nate handed the bottle of pills back to Eden and pulled out a bottle of water to take the pills. He was drinking the water when Jay chimed in.
"Well, well, well...If it isn't the blondie from last year. Where's the boyfriend. Not here apparently. Maybe we can pick up where we left off." Jay asked smiling at her. "I am free all day. I know you and I copuld get aquainted. I would not mind doing dirty..."
Nate snapped his head and he cut Jay off, "Man shut up and leave her alone. And by the way her name is not Blondie, its Eden, try using it and being respectful. God. No wonder women do not like you. You are rude." Nate commented. "Now stop talking loudly my head is killing me." The pills had not had enough time to work and Jay's loud voice and firty thoughts and words were not helping. Nate always snapped when he had a hangover.
Nate shook his head and turned to look at Eden,"Do not mind him. He is a jerk. I hope he didn't hurt your feelings." Nate felt bad when Jay objectified women and started talking in terms that implied what he wanted to do behind closed doors. There was a time and place and this was not the time or the palce. Of course Jay hated when someone spoke back so he left with a glare.

Eden wasn't sure why he thought he owed her twice but she didn't ask. Even if she was inclined to ask, she wouldn't have had a chance because stupid Jay butted in, being very much like they guy she'd remembered from last year. She scowled at him, "Graduated," she said shortly, not wanting to give him the satisfaction that she and Jett had broken up. She didn't want to mention the whole Jett getting in an accident either.
And then Nate cut him off, playing good cop. Part of her wondered if this was a routine or if Nate was a nice guy. To be honest, she didn't care either way. Anymore, she didn't care what kind of character people had. She was so jaded to relationships. Random hook ups were clearly the way to go. Who needed feelings to be involved? That just made things messy. She had Jett had been fine before they started dating...
She simply shrugged when Nate started talking about feelings and all that. "Yeah, its okay. We shared a locker last year so I'm used to it," she said simply. She didn't want to give him the satisfaction that he was getting to her, and for the most part he really wasn't. Maybe last year he did but this year...well this year she felt like a completely different person. One who didn't freak out because a boy wanted to do something dirty with her because unlike last year, this year she'd probably already done it. Plus, it didn't hurt that she was completely high right now so she was super mellow.
She crossed her legs causing her skirt to ride up her thighs a little higher but didn't really take notice to this as she pushed her long hair behind her shoulders. "So what are you two like each other's wing men or something?" she asked bluntly, "Cause its not working," she added with a smirk, the weed getting the better of her and causing her to let out a laugh.

Nate snorted. "Nah man. I don't need him as a wing man. Believe me. If I wanted you to come home with me, you would come home with me. Right now all I see is a girwhose company I find surprising more and more. If you wanna think its a game or pick up line, then so be it. I don't mind." Nate said with a smile. He didn't care if she liked what he said or not. Half the fun was in the challenge.
Nate oved a good challenge. If he were not in school and ran into this girl by the beach or in a bar he would put the moves on her, but his was school and most of his moves were not appropiate. Either way he was enjoying the fight this girl was putting up. nate rubbed the back of his head as the medcine finally helped the headache disappear. Finally. Man the one bad thing about a hang over was the freaking headache afterward.
Nate looked at her. He saw she was revealing a little more thigh. Now if she did that on purpose or if it just happened he didn't care it was nice to look at. "Now tell me, why would you think we are running some game? I mean I barely know you. It would be a tad rude to run some game so soon. That was no game. If it were it would have a much different result." Nate said with a smirk.

Eden sat there and listened as Nate when on about it not being a game. He didn't really sound defensive about it...in fact he sounded completely confident about the whole thing. "Right," she said shortly after his whole spiel about it. The thing was, the more confident he came off about it, the more likely she thought it to be some sort of game. She'd learned quickly that guys that were that smooth and confident at the same time, were probably always running some sort of game. It was just that they were so on it that there was no difference between that and the real person that once lived underneath. They were in LA after all, everyone was fake, she thought darkly.
Even Eden felt like she was a fraud most of the time. As seamlessly she'd transformed into awkward shy girl to whatever she was now, there was still something strange about it like an out of body experience where someone else had taken over and the real her was just watching. Only, she'd gone so far down the rabbit hole that she wasn't sure that she'd ever make it back.
"I think that you're running the game because of all the 'did he hurt your feelings' and 'being respectful' talk," she said bluntly. "It's not exactly language that's in the average high school boy's vocabulary," she pointed out the very true fact. "Most guys that talk to me have the same motive, to get into my pants. Am I really supposed to think you're any different just because you're pretending to be nice about it?" she asked. Okay, so she was being unusually harsh. But she was just so jaded toward the whole dating thing. She wasn't over Jett. She pretended to be, but she wasn't, and it was eating away at her and turning her into a girl that she didn't even like anymore. The only problem was that she had no idea how to stop it.

Nate laughed as Eden spoke. He really laughed at her and her assumptions about him and Jay. She was jaded. She sounded like him after the whole Skye thing went down and he didn't care about love or anything. Hell he was still like that. Nate was all about just sex and physical with no emotional crap attached. He liked her bluntness but it still made him laugh, "Please do tell me, what makes you think I want in your pants? From the way you are talking it seems as if you think all guys want in your pants and that you are so special to be that girl that all guys want. I mean talk about a big ego if you ask me."
Nate leaned back in his chair. "See let me tell you what I see. I see a girl who wants to think that every guy who talks to her is hitting on her. Its a fact that a majority of the male student body are horney kids who would hit on any girl they can, but there is that rare precentage that can just talk to a girl and not hit on her." Nate told Eden.
"So you can keep inflating your ego and flattering yourself, but I have not hit on you yet. If I was hitting on you I would not be using a wing man. Fact is I tend to prefer brunette." Of course the blond was cute and yes he may want in Eden's pants, but this challenge was more fun. "I mean I thin kits the other way around. Cause most girls who talk to me tend to want me in their bed. Girls can be just as horney as guys. So I think thats you. I think you want me or else there would be no need to make such remarks."

What made her think he wanted her? How about all that crap she had already pointed out? Sure, he had denied it but she still didn't believe him. No guy dismissed their friend to console some girl they'd just met if there wasn't some ulterior motive. Eden was sure about it. But he was just going to keep on denying it, whatever. Eden could play this game too.
"Really, you don't?" she said her tone dry, "Then you must not have heard the rumors...glitter underwear," she said her voice dropping to a whisper as if it was a real, actual secret and not some random thing that had popped into her head like it was.
He went on claiming he preferred brunettes...then why didn't he get up and go talk to one? Did she even care? Was it bothering her that he was acting as if he didn't want her, or was she just missing Jett? This was something she often wondered. She half wanted to make a comment that she preferred non-white guys, which wasn't really true, she didn't really prefer any race over another, she just preferred Jett. But even the thought of that hurt to much.
"Think what you want," she started to say as the bell rang for class to start. The teacher started talking right away, telling the class to pull out their books. Eden gave Nate one last glance as she reached down to pull out her book, half wondering what she was even doing and what she expected from the boy.
