Dani had gone to the cafeteria to see what the food was. She was always curious. This was her first time in public school. So she was very curious to see what there was. It was nothing good. It looked like a mama bird giving the baby bird food. It was gross and didn't look like it would be good to eat, ifit was even edible. So Dani took her bag lung and walked right back out the door.
In fact she walked outside to a picnic table. She did not seem to be alone which was good. She picked a table and took a seat then began to pull things out of the bag. A PB&J sandwich, chips, apple, carrots, ranch dipping sauce and twizlers. Her favorite foods. Yum. Dani loved her lunch. she packed it so she was not shocked by what she had. Her mother would have a field day to see what she was eating. Her mother would take away the chips and twizzlers and half the sandwich. Leaving ehr with half a sandwich, carrots and an apple.
Lucky for Dani her mother did not have her way this time. Dani sometimes hated how critical her mother could be. She knew it was because her mother wanted her to be healthy and look good on camera, but Dani was already as skinny as could be, any skinnier and she would be underweight. Dani was so lost in her toughts she didn't even notice that someone joined her.

"Hey Dean." Dean turned and smiled at the girls waving at him. It was his first week and already the boy was garnering attention. If not for his fun facts then for his charming boyish looks. Most likely his charming boyish looks. And depending on the gender of his peers, his fun facts were either really adorable or really damn annoying.
He was ready for lunch and he came prepared. He now knew cafeteria food equals evil. He was glad his father was willing to learn how to cook so every day was a good surprise of food. The cafeteria was a bit too full for his liking so he left the building in favour of the quad which wasn't so filled. There was a table with only one occupant and he thought that was a good place to sit.
It wasn't a surprise that he didn't know Daniella Johnson was a celebrity. He was impervious to superficial fame, more likely would he applaud the works of F. Scott Fitzgerald or Marie Curie and Abraham Lincoln. They made concrete differences in the world and contributed far more than anyone who thought they were famous these days. So to him, the pretty blonde girl sitting at the table was an everyday girl, just eating her lunch.
Sliding on to the bench, he unwrapped his brown paper bag and looked inside. Ah, turkey bacon and avocado sandwich. And a Twix bar. How generous of his father. With a smile he bit into his sandwich before making his presence known. "Hello...I'm Dean Wallace. I hope you don't mind that I already made myself at home here at your table."

Mikasi walked into the school grounds with his lunch bag, it was something he had thrown together before leaving the house. It was probably a good thing going by the smell coming from the school kitchens. You'd have thought thaat they would have hired better cooks, over the summer but apparently not.
Mikasi made his way through the few people out here looking for a good place to sit, preferably with someone their to keep him company at least. He was kind of bored of sitting at a table first and alone for that matter. He was an oddity to most people a native off the reservation, an image that this year he wanted to get rid of. Normal kid from normal life here we come he thought, or at least what he kept telling himself anyway.
He spotted someone that looked vaguely familiar for some reason and headed that way, maybe someone from his year or a class or just someone he had seen in the library. Who cared it was company, a boy had beat him to it, but that didn't stop him from adjusting his direction to another available part of the bench.
"Do you mind if I take this seat?" he asked the two of them smiling brightly.

Dani was busy eating her chips as reading a magazine when she finally looked up after someone introduced them selves. Dani was about to introduce herself when someone else came over. She smiled at both cute boys. So she did not mind at all. Dani looked at them both then decided to try out her swahili with a common introduction.
"Habari! Ninaitwa Dani. Nimefurahi kukujua." Dani said in swahili to both Dean and Mikasi. She smiled and motioned for Mikasi to sit. "Please join us. I was just swaying my name is Dani and I am please to meet you basically." She said gald she could finally try out the Swahili language. It was one she was still working one, but introducing herself and saying she was please to know someone was oneof the easiest things to say really. Although she could have signed it but that was a different stotry Dani was just glad for the comapny.
"What is your name?" She asked Mikasi, cause he hadn't said yet like she and Dean had. She pulled out a chip to eat and then a bite of her sandwich. "I guess you both were smart. i saw the food and I swear it had air bubbles in it, which is scary enough. I don't think food should have bubbles." She commented with a smirk.

With a smile, Dean welcomed the newcomer with a wave of his hand. "Not at all, please have a seat." When the lovely blonde finally realised she had been joined by the two, she spoke a language Dean only knew conversationally. "Radhi ni wangu wote, Dani." He replied with a scratch at the back of his head. "I think that's right. Are you a native?" Dean asked, immediately his curiosity preceding his manners.
Dean politely waited for her answer as she asked the newcomer's name. He laughed at her comment about the food and nodded. "After mistakenly thinking it was a Malay dish on the first day, it was obvious I should bring my own food so," he patted his paper bag affectionately.

Mikasi smiled at her figuring that a thank you was in order in English, "Thank you and my name is Mikasi or Miki whatever you prefer." Mikasi said as he took a seat attthe table. "Cool language skills." he said to the girl. "My language skills begin and end with mutilating what ever language I'm trying to speak." he told her. "Including English." he added.
Mikasi nodded, "For sure, I tried it the first day I was here and imediately wished I hadn't left the reservation. After one day here I missed my mothers cooking, the smaller numbers at school were much easier to handle." Mikasi said to them. "Anyway I avoid the school food when ever I can, which isn't always, if I want a lift from my dad I have to eat the gruel that they serve here and pray that I don't need a stomach pump at the end of the day." Mikasi told them.

Dani chuckled t Dean as he patted his brown bag and as Mikasi talked about needing a stomach pump. She first decided to answer Dean's earlier question. "I was born in South Africa so I learned english and Sawhili together. My father is a translator so I also know German, Arabic, sign language and there are a few more. My father thinks its important to know many languages. I am best in Swahili and Sign Language, but the others I know enough to get around." Dani explained. "I just like to try it out when ever I can. How did you learn it Dean?" She commented.
She nodded toward her brown bag. "I have never really been in private school. This is my first year. So the first day I did attempt to eat the cafeteria food, but ended up snacking on chips and stuff cause the food just smelled awful. After that I quickly learned ot brown bag it every day." Dani chuckled. "Someone should have warned me, but I guess its custmary not to warn the new kids not to eat the mystery meat. I can see why it may make someone sick. What reservation areyou from Mikasi?"

Dean laughed good naturedly at Mikasi's humor. Dani's explanation of her own pretty vast language skills, something Dean appreciated coming from someone who may or may not be as experienced as he was. He was, however, very impressed by the fact that she knew sign language. "I travel." He stated simply. "A lot." He grinned.
"I'm actually quite pleased with my father's cooking, which is why I make it a point to bring food from home." He piped in. "That's interesting that you came from a reservation, Mikasi. Which one would that be? I've always wanted to go but dad kept sending me to caves. I rarely get to go anywhere else to be honest." Not that he wasn't grateful for the experiences he's had in those caves but he would have liked being places that had more water in them.
