The bell rang and Lexi shot out of class to the other side of the building to get to her locker before Wynn could. Things had been pretty great between the two of them and Lexi couldn't have been happier. Except for one thing.
Anderson had been weighing heavily in her mind lately. They never resolved the fight or whatever that happened that day and it killed her not to have her friend around. Lexi didn't have many girlfriends and the ones she had, she wasn't too close to them. They were good for maybe shopping or talking about D&D but Anderson had been the one she would spend hours on the phone talking about everything else.
What the hell exactly happened that day? She knew Anderson was about to tell her something but the accident occurred and after she was discharged from the hospital, it was like Anderson and her were never even friends. Her adamant need to find out what was wrong with Anderson put a little strain in Lexi and Wynn's relationship though but she thought they were doing fine and for the most part, they really did work well. Lexi really liked Wynn and she was glad Wynn liked her too. He made her feel safe. That was what was important.
When she arrived at their locker, she straightened herself up just in time to see Wynn heading her direction. She perked up and waved at him through the crowd, a blush powdering her cheeks.

The smile on Wynn's face had been there since he'd been with Lexi. It had been a rocky start but so far it seemed to be smooth sailing so far. Even though Lexi had been playing Nancy Drew to see what was going on with Anderson.
"Let sleeping dogs lie." Wynn would tell her but something made her determined to get to the bottom of things. "I'm going to start calling you Velma, like the girl on Scooby-Doo." He tried to not let it bother him, but something was talking to him in his mind.
He weaved through the herds of kids standing at their lockers. Girls checking their hair and makeup, guys checking the girls out, the usual things that went on.
He saw Lexi waving at him, his smile grew even more wide. He felt the hairs on the back of his neck slowly stand up, it was a great feeling. "Hey Velma, miss me?" he laughed slightly.

Lexi's smile widened at the sight of Wynn's and once he was right in front of her, she took his hand and squeezed it lightly before grabbing her lunch from her locker. She giggled at his nickname for her. "Of course I miss you." She replied softly, her blush deepening. The nickname he gave her was something she had taken as a compliment but she realised it must not feel good for Wynn.
"I thought we'd eat lunch outside today. Such a beautiful day." With their fingers intertwined, Lexi pulled Wynn to follow her and once they were outside, she was quite glad she had the idea to eat out here. The sun was shining brightly and the wind was picking up but it wasn't so cold and it wasn't warm either.
She picked a spot and they settled in nicely. Taking out two pieces of sandwiches she had packed this morning, she gave one to Wynn and kept one for herself. "I have dessert in there too." She patted her cotton blend lunch bag and smiled. Taking a bite out of her sandwich, Lexi chewed on it a few times before looking at Wynn with a smile. "How has your day been?"

Her soft fingers made Wynn feel tingly all over. The way Lexi blushed made even more cute.
"I heard some growling from the cafeteria and one of the lunch ladies cracking a whip at something, so I think outside would be much safer." he grinned. He gladly followed her along, some might think he was a puppy on a leash.
Wynn gladly took one of the sandwiches from Lexi. "You thought of everything." He said as she patted the bag. "Now you have me curious what dessert is." He nibbled his sandwich, quietly till Lexi spoke. "Its been okay, better when I met you for lunch. How was your day so far?"

Laughing at Wynn's silly description of what was happening in the cafeteria, Lexi looked at him with a disbelieving look. "Yeah right. You so did not hear that." She chided him.
"Yes I did think of everything. It's not always that I get to spend lunch with my boyfriend on the quad. I had to think of something to make you stay." She grinned, running her fingers through his messy hair. "Oh that's a surprise. I'm not telling you until you finish that sandwich." She started on her own as Wynn replied to her question.
Another blush played on her cheeks. His question made her frown ever so delicately. "Well, I still haven't seen Anderson. Why do I get the feeling that he's avoiding me?" She sighed.

Boyfriend.
That was a work Wynn didn't think he would ever hear until he was out of college and animating school which was when the money came in. But here he was with Lexi and they were truly a couple.
"You got me and now you're stuck with me Lexi." Wynn smiled. "I won't be going anywhere." He scrunched his nose as she teased his hair. "Now I know it has to be good, if you're keeping it a secret from me!" He started back in on the sandwich. Then she had to bring up his name again.
"Lexi, when are you going to let this go? I mean it seems like you've become obsessed with Anderson or something. Maybe there is a reason he hasn't approached you. Maybe he knows you and I are together now and that intimidates him or maybe he heard about me taking down Jay a couple of notches and is scared. I don't know, I'm just guessing at this."

"I wouldn't call it being stuck..." and before she could think any further, she leaned forward and placed her lips briefly on his. When she sat back down, she worked on her sandwich, a bit too embarrassed to look him in the eye. "It's very very good. Or at least I hope it is. I might have substituted sugar with salt." She joked.
Her smile dropped when Wynn spoke. "Wynn, Anderson's one of my best friends. I'm not...obsessed with him. I just want to know if I did something wrong." What he said did make sense. But intimidated was just not the word she would use to describe Anderson. "Hey, don't be angry with me." She touched his arm, giving it a light squeeze. "I'm just concerned for a friend. That's all." She said.
She bit into her sandwich in silence. Well that ruined her happy feelings.

Wynn was a tad unresponsive to Lexi's kiss. A smile started on one side of his face. "Whatever it is, I'm sure its not as sweet as you."
Leave it to Wynn though to open his mouth and stick his foot in. "I'm not angry, I'm just worried that your spending a lot of time fretting over this. He'll come around soon enough."
He felt bad for saying what he did but sometimes when friends were concerned for others things had a way of getting out of control.

Despite the oh so sweet compliment Wynn had given her, there was no smile on her face as she continued with her sandwich in silence. His reassurance that Anderson would come around didn’t cheer her up nor did it make anything else better. She still couldn’t believe he thought she was obsessed. Sure she was kind of driven to find out why Anderson was ignoring her but it still wasn’t a nice thing to point out.
“Yeah well, I’m sorry if I don’t give up on friends. And Anderson is the best friend I have…well had. He was here even before you or Mew or anyone else. I don’t see the problem in caring about why he hasn’t talked to me.” It came out harsher than she heard it in her mind and now she couldn’t even take it back. It was left hanging in the air and she was a tad scared of how Wynn would react.
