Player Name: Nu
Name: Bennett James Durnham
Nickname: His family members call him BJ [his cousins have a different nickname with the same acronym] most every one else knows him as Bennett
Age: 16
Birthday: 7th January
Place of birth: North Carolina
Grade: Sophomore
Appearance: Stats:
Hair: Dark Brown
Eyes: Dark Brown
Height: 5'11
Bennett has dark brown hair he keeps unkempt and his eyes are almost always hidden behind black thick rimmed glasses settling comfortably on the bridge of his sharp blunt-tipped nose. He has bushy eyebrows which he is not proud of and full lips that make him look like a girl sometimes.
His sense of style is basically non-existent. Coming from a large family of six boys and two girls, him being smack dab in the middle of it, he's quite comfortable getting things from thrift stores so his parents don't have to worry about spending too much on trendy outfits for him like his other siblings love to splurge on.
A simple day to day outfit for Bennett would be t-shirt and jeans without much anything else. He prefers worn sneakers and is rarely seen without his black leather wrist strap his mother gave him before she passed away on his sixth birthday.
Personality: Bennett is a loner in which he prefers doing things by himself. He's imaginative and quiet and is quite a judgmental person, always basing his judgments on his cousins and brothers' characteristics. He easily goes off tangent and can be seen drifting off into space even when he's talking to someone. He doesn't mean to do it and he doesn't mean anything by it, it's just his nature.
He doesn't show any disrespect even towards people who wrong him but he silently plots their torture but laughs it off when he remembers that he would never have the guts to actually do it. He's shy around girls but wouldn't think twice about giving up his seat or opening the door or holding the elevator door for them. He doesn't like to think of himself as pretentious but that's how people easily see him as.
As much as he hates his brothers and cousins for thinking they're better than anyone else, deep down he feels that if given the opportunity and if his father didn't treat him the way he did and if his mother never gave him the proper push, he would end up exactly like them. It was just in the Durnham blood.
Town area: Venice Beach
Job: Too young to get a job yet
Transportation: A black Ducati he's not ready to ride.
Family background:
Dad: James William Durnham - 49
Step-mom: Melina Jensen - 42
Siblings: Adam and Jake [twins] - 21
Riley - 20
Marcus - 18
Jesse - 15
Liam - 12
Dana - 8
Leah - 6
Serena - 3 months
After the loss of his first wife and first love at the age of 39, James took almost ten years before he remarried Melina, a single mother of two, who proved to him that she wasn't in it for his money. The Durnham children instantly connected with the warm and loving Melina and took her two girls under their wing. Adopting Dana and Leah on James' part was pretty easy considering he already had a rapport with the two girls who considered him a father already.
Having the biggest family in the Durnham line didn't really put James in a bad light amongst his siblings and cousins but he didn't want his boys to be burdened with the family business so for a good long part of their lives when his first wife was still alive, they lived in North Carolina, only migrating to Hollywood a few years after his wife passed away. Immediately his eldest sons were called into family business meetings and soon enough, the other boys followed their eldest brothers' lead except for Bennett.
Nobody understood Bennett's lack of interest of doing business but his mother. She encouraged him to pursue a road less travelled when it came to the Durnham family line. When Bennett first showed interest in writing, his mother made sure his father knew it and James never talked to him about business, even after his wife passed away. He picked up where she left off and helped him build the interest and even though he never said it, Bennett's siblings all knew that Bennett was James' favourite son.
They teased and taunted him and even turned their cousins against him because of it and Bennett never said a word of it to anyone so no one was the wiser about him being bullied. So after years of enduring the torment, Bennett swore to himself that he would change everyone's perspective of him.
When Melina came into their lives, she almost immediately picked up on the rift between Bennett and his brothers and she once mentioned it to James but James didn't do anything about it because he had endured the same with his brothers and cousins before. All he did was ask Bennett to stand up for himself because he knew if he said anything to his brothers and cousins, the torment would just double up.
Now, Bennet is biding his time until he can finally show everyone that he was not to be messed with. Hopefully his plan wouldn't backfire.

200 word writing sample: The history of Bennett's nickname came about when he was three years old because his father decided to give him a middle name of James for obvious reasons. For quite some years, BJ just meant Bennett James.
Until grade school rolled in.
After Bennett's mother died, things became a bit awry. His siblings started to become cruel and start taunting him and including their cousins in the torment. BJ was still their nickname for Bennett but it took on a very different meaning.
The tauntings became worst but Bennett still couldn't and wouldn't say a word about it against his siblings and cousins, resulting to more torture and from the nickname, it escalated into a contest of who gets to humiliate Bennett the worst without anyone finding out about it. The most subtle it was, the more points they got.
The fortunate thing was that they only met during holidays and family gatherings for the joint torture since Bennett's relatives live far away from his own family. So he only had to endure one or two days of being the butt of the family jokes.
The girls of the family however were more sympathetic, including him in the things they do. But this only fueled the boys up, cracking more jokes and the name calling got even worst. It didn't stop Bennett from befriending the girls however and over time, Bennett became the favourite despite how shy he was around them. They liked the fact that he wasn't brash and was pretty gentle with the younger girls.
This of course added to the fury the Durnham boys had over their least favourite cousin and brother until one of the more influential cousins, Tyler, decided to step out of the bullying. Although the others still had Bennett's elder brothers to lead them, Tyler's stepping down had some of them questioning their actions. And also his. What if instead of just quietly leaving Bennett alone, Tyler decides to help Bennett?
It obviously wasn't something smart to have someone like Tyler influence Bennett for good or bad. They're all on the balls of their feet to see what would happen once Bennett actually switches on that idea bulb and goes to Tyler for help.
God help them all.
