Cam took a deep breath as we stepped up to the podium. He had to admit that the past few days he'd been weighing over what to say. Since breaking up with Haley he hadn't exactly been cheerful but he was still valedictorian and he still needed to deliver a fluffy feel good speech to the audience. He'd wrote one but he had to admit he didn't really mean many of the words.
Cam took a deep breath and began to read, "Principal Stone, faculty members, fellow students, family and friends, welcome. We never thought this day would come. We prayed for its quick delivery, crossed days off our calendars, counted hours, minutes, and seconds, and now that it's here, I'm sorry it is because it means leaving friends who inspire me and teachers who have been my mentors - so many people who have shaped my life and my fellow students' lives impermeably and forever. I live in two worlds. One is a world of math and science...from physics to astronomy to advanced forms of calculus. These were my comforts for many years. It's a rewarding world, but my second one is by far superior. My second one is populated with characters slightly less eccentric but supremely real, made of flesh and bone, full of love, who are my ultimate inspiration for everything. My family and friends were the ones who have guided me and for that I thank you.
"This year we were given the opportunity to join in with an entirely new class. I am sure that I can speak for everyone when I say that the beginning was not easy, but in the end we've all come out strong with new life long friends. And now, as we all go our separate ways, some of us staying close by and others traveling afar, I challenge you to keep this year in your memory. To use it as a learning experience and let it guide you through the trials and tribulations of adulthood. So, congratulations everyone. We made it! Thank you."
Cam stepped away and made his way back to his seat, still feeling a bit depressed despite giving everyone the fluffy, flowery speech that they wanted.
OOC: I'm not going to lie the first paragraph of that speech was adapted from Rory Gilmore's graduation speech in the season 3 finally of Gilmore Girls
