The library and on the first day of school. That was a new record. But here Silver was. You could say she was trying to get a head start on school, but not really. She was hiding. Silver loved the library, she could not deny it. Besides on nights her mother had night classes Silver found comfort in the library.
Where else would she go, the beach, the boardwalk, no, those were not her kind of scene. She was a role play girl, and a library girl. The summer had not changed her dorkiness. She was just a senior that's all. Finally a senior. Now all she had to do was pass her AP exams and she would be well on her way to some Ivy league school. It was all planned out. Silver had everything planned, cause planning is what she did. Always the planner and the over achiever. Sometimes it was annoying. Sometimes Silver wished she could be the popular girl. A least do something to make a guy like Anderson notice her. It's not like Silver wanted a boyfriend. It would be nice, she just no longer wanted to be invisible. Silver was currently reading some book, that was too thick for her. She closed it and sight. A new year a new Silver. Nah. She would stick to being her dorky self, cause to be honest she wouldn't know how to be popular. Besides being invisible was not so bad. She put the book back on the shelf and walked through the various bookshelves trying to find something new. Most of the books were typical boring library books.
But there were a few good pieces of literature thrown in there. Her fingers settled on Dante's Inferno. Definitely not for a high school senior, but why the heck not. She picked the book and walked over to the table to sit down. Only this time she wasn't alone. Someone sat next to her. Silver looked around at all the empty tables. Yet someone was sitting next to her. It was probably just a convenient thing. Like no other chairs were closer. Silver did not think the person sitting next to her actually wanted to talk to her, but it was nice to think someone actually knew who she was versus just the hey girl person or the one everyone laughed at when she tripped.
One more year and she was done. Silver loved school and loved to learn, but she was would be happy when this year ended. Although it was just beginning so baby steps were in order. No use in focusing on the end of the year, when the first day of school had just passed. The wonders of the teenage brain. Never a straight or coherent thought that made any sense. Why was she evern thinking about this?

She had a lot of catching up to do and the library seemed to be the only place she could actually do that. Quinn didn't even think anyone would be around but she liked the company.
Sliding into the seat beside the blond, Quinn cracked open her history book. When no one was looking, she sneaked a piece of Reese's Pieces into her mouth, chewing silently.
After a long while, she realised she was being rude by not offering her table neighbour some of her chocolate so she patted the girl's knee and extended the little baggie still filled with the chocolate.
"It's peanut butter." She whispered. "In case you were allergic." Shrugging, she added as an afterthought.

Silver almost jumped when the girl touched her knee. It wasn't that the action had scared Silver, it was more like she was not use to someone noticing she was there. She turned and looked to see her offering food. "Umm....s...sure." She said holding out her hand. She finally cracked a smile as she put one piece in her mouth and chewed. The she pushed her glasses up her nose. "I am hungry. I usually have a snack myself, but I forgot one this time." She admitted.
Silver brushed some hair from her face as well. "I didn't think anyone else would be in the library." it was like her home away from home and sometimes she was the only in there that was a teenager. others were elderly or kids. She was glad someone her age was here. Maybe it was finally someone who would not think of her as a dork. "I'm Silver."

Quinn didn't mean to scare the girl so she offered a smile to the girl and ended up placing the chocolate on her seat while she adjusted herself so the chocolate wouldn't tip over.
She simply nodded when the other blond explained herself. "Good thing I have my personal stash everywhere I go." The blond chuckled. She had been deprived of chocolate for so long that now that she could eat whatever she wanted, she took advantage of it.
"Well, I'm not supposed to be here to be honest." Quinn grinned. "I'm supposed to be at the community center in Riverside right now actually but I'm new so I've got a butt load of studying to do and I decided before I spend time there, I should at least get caught up with my studies first you know? I'm already one year behind. Homeschooled." She shrugged.
"That's a rather unique name." Quinn smiled, never having heard anyone with such a name. "I'm Quinn. You don't by any chance go to Gould and Silver do you?"

Silver nodded. "Yes. Although i use to go to just Gould, but the schools recently merged so its weird saying I go to Gould and Silver High School. Creative name right. Gee I wonder how long it took them to think that one up." Silver said trying to make a joke. She hoped it work cause she laughed, she just wasn't sure Quinn would. "My name comes from my grandfather. It was part of his nickname in the Air force. His nick name was Quick Silver and he dies right before I was born so my mom took the Silver part. Plus she is a college professor, so being unique is what she does." Sometimes it was very embarrassing.
"Nice to meet you Quinn. Sucks you are behind. Anything I can help you with?" she asked. Silver was always willing to help if she could. She loved to tutor and teach. Not that she was good at it, but she loved it. She could try. "I am here cause my mom gets home late and I hate being home alone." She was a huge dork like that. She was a huge dork anyway.
"What was it like to be home schooled? I was schooled for about a year and a half. How long were you?" She was home schooled cause of her heart but that was another story entirely and she was not about to get in it. The only reason she was not behind was cause of summer school.

Quinn laughed at Silver's joke, nodding in agreement. "No one sprained anything there." She replied. She had wondered why the name sounded odd. Apparently they weren't even one school to begin with. Well, that wasn't her concern anyway. All she needed to do was get her high school diploma and she could coach the gymnastics team at the community center full time. They needed all the help they could get and high school was getting in the way of them getting their coach to concentrate on them.
Smiling at the genuinely interesting history behind her name, Quinn suddenly felt like she had a plain name which was silly. Of all things to concern herself about... "Good to meet you too, Silver. And yeah it sucks but what can I do right?" She shrugged, popping another piece of chocolate into her mouth. Quinn of course wasn't about to tell a stranger why she was a year behind so she just kept quiet about it.
When Silver offered a helping hand, Quinn hesitated for a lot of reasons. She wasn't about to let a person know how far behind she was and she hated asking for help or being offered help when she didn't ask. But Silver seemed like such a nice person. "Thanks, Silver but I think I'm going to try and handle this myself. Thanks again." It was obvious that Quinn was terribly embarrassed by the act of kindness by a complete stranger.
She was actually prepared for this question because she knew it was going to come up some time somehow. But for some reason the words just weren't coming to her. "Uh...different from public school." Was all she could come up with. "How long?" She tried to calculate how long she had been a gymnast and she came up with a number that was kind of depressing. She started training when she was five years old so the last time she had been around so many people outside her team mates was when she was in day care.
"A couple years." She shrugged. "So are you a junior?" It would have been awesome if the answer was yes then at least she'd find a friendly face tomorrow instead of the odd looks that the other students gave her when she walked down the halls.

"Senior actually. I have no life." She wasn't suppose to be a junior anyway actually. She was in the right year, and it was because she had taken summer classes when she was better. In order to catch up. Plus her mother was a professor so she made sure Silver caught up. besides all Silver had done for a year was practically lay in bed so its not like she had much else to do. But that was besides the point. "Well if you ever just wanna hang out or something just let me know." Silver said hoping she made a friend.
Silver played with the hands in her lap. She was a little nervous. She was always nervous when it came to meeting new people. Hell she was nervous when talking to people she had met before. She was just full of social awkward, but this was her senior year and that was enough to boost her confidence like a milimeter. "You will like public school. There is always something going on to talk about and stuff. Plus its not as hard." She commented.
Although Quinn would know better then Sivler would. She had been homeschooled longer then she had. Not that it mattered. Silver was just glad to be in school and not stuck in a bed where she had someone checking on her every hour. That got annoying.

At Silver's no life comment, Quinn suddenly remembered herself with gymnastics. She was a gymnast first and foremost and when her back gave out, she was nothing. And without gymnastics, she was nothing. She was just a student struggling to get what the hell the teacher was talking about during History. Quinn refocused her attention on Silver when she mentioned hanging out. A part of her wanted so badly to say yes but she hardly knew the girl. She hardly knew anyone and 'hanging out' entailed talking. Quinn was never good with her words.
"Um...I'll hold you to that." Quinn laughed awkwardly. The blond junior took in Silver's appearance and realised that the girl was more nervous than she was and that was saying something. Quinn had a hard time trying to assimilate herself in a social paradigm but here was another girl who was obviously even more awkward than she was and Quinn wasn't doing anything to help improve the situation. "Oh I plan to treat school as a place to study and then once I'm out, I'll be fine." She shrugged in reply to Silver's comment about public school.
There was no doubt in Quinn's mind that she wouldn't like public school. Of course, it was only the first day and even then she managed to talk to someone properly...sort of. But there was really nothing about public she found that she liked. She wasn't even going to join any clubs because she was going to be pretty busy with coaching anyway. So there really wasn't any use for Quinn to like public school. Then again, it's always the things you hate that you end up loving, wasn't that the saying?
Quinn offered more chocolate to the other girl. "I'm actually avoiding going home too to be honest." She revealed but didn't go any further. She didn't need to tell a stranger about the friction she was experiencing with her step-father. But things were good between her and her step-brother though. Quinn loved Julian to bits but Jake and her were just too strong-headed to see eye to eye on anything. Plus, she just hated him for being one of the doctors that told her she just wasn't cut out for gymnastics anymore.
