Jett left for UCLA in mid August. He had a basketball scholarship, even if he did not need the money this was good. It meant he could play and Jett really wanted to play basketball. Even more then football. The summer was treating him well. Already he and Eden had a few makes up and break ups. Mostly about how the following year would work. He promised to call, text and come home at least twice month, for at least a day if he would.
Jett was willing to try, it still caused make ups and break ups.Currently they were dating, but that might change tomorrow. One might be tired of the constant breaking up, but it was just how Eden and Jett were. Jett still liked the girl a lot and he was happy with making up over and over. It was hot. Jett still felt a bit calling himself and Eden a couple, but he did tell people he had a girlfriend, he was not shy about it.
Jett was attending a summer training camp. It was not far. He had to wake up early and got home around five pm usually. It was helping him get in shape for the season. All freshman basketball players needed to attend so he was making friends already. This was great. He was already looking forward to UCLA.
He got off Wednesday to Monday for July 4th. Yes the camp was an all summer thing and would end on July 31st. But he managed it. It kind of cut into social time, but the only people Jett cared to hang with were Ben, Izzy and Eden and he still had his weekends so he and Ben had been surfing a lot. Jett was much better now then he had been actually.
July 4th weekend. He was looking forward to this. Finally a few days off. He spent it wisely, of course. With his friend. Jett had spent July4th with Ben, Eden and Izzy having a cook out and watching fireworks on the beach and he spent that night with Eden. The next day he had plans with the guys from the team. The next day he said by to Ben, Eden and Izzy and promised to see them the following day since he would probably stay the night, but he had his phone if they needed him.
It was July 5th, Saturday night and all was well. There was drinking, rude comments about women, a fire. A typical guys night along with music and poker and a friendly game of basketball. However, guys liked to eat. A lot. Jett being the only one sober cause he didn't like any of the booze and Jett would rather be sober anyway. He had spent the night before getting drunk with Eden. So he was not in the mood to drink.
Jett volunteered to go get some supplies for the local walmart. He grabbed his keys and made sure he had his wallet and walked out the door not giving it another thought. However, this night was not like any other. It happened so fast. So fast. One moment Jett was singing along to the music of Jay Z and the next headlights.
A drunk driver ran a redlight and Jett didn't have time to react. Now Jett was not the safest driver, but he would never drink and drive. Jett was hit by a drunk driver on July 5, 2008.
Jett washurt badly. He was in a coma for about a week. He had a few borken and brusied ribs, a concussion, internal bleeding. All of which was fixed with surgey, he lost his spleen as a result, but the worst was yet to come. Jett had suffered a back injurt and the doctors tried to repair what they could.
However, when Jett awoke he could not move his toes or his legs. Now Jett had busted his left knee, but he still should have been able to move his legs, but he couldn't. The doctors said to give it tim, he suffered a back injury but hopefully he would regain movements in his legs. That was in July. It was now October and Jett is still confined to a wheel chair still partly recovering from his accident. His knee was still in a brace but his ribs and other injuries were practically healed. However Jett could not walk and all this because ofa drunk driver who seemed to be the lucky one. Cause he walked away able to walk while Jett was confined to a wheel chair.
