Brittany lifted her head just high enough to slam it back down on her pillow. Her earbud headphones were jammed in her ear and she was listening to the same playlist for what felt like the thousandth time. But she hadn't been allowed to take her computer with her and without that she couldn't refresh the music on her ipod.
This place was terrible. It had all started with the prom. Aly taking Zac. Aly using Zac. Brittany had been pissed. How dare Aly just use people like that?! The fight had escalated, everything coming out as Brittany and Aly had lashed out at one another. Brittany really hadn't meant to start the fire. She'd through Aly's clothes out the window and made a spectacle of how she'd light them on fire if Aly didn't apologize and learn that she couldn't go around treating people as if they didn't matter. She really, truly hadn't intended to do anything. She had just wanted to give her step-sister a real scare, but Brittany being Brittany had accidentally dropped the match.
It was all over then. Fire in their front yard, Aly and Brittany physically fighting one another. Cops. Handcuffs. Sitting in a holding cell for an hour before their parents got there. It had been bad. Really bad. And that was the reason that she was in the middle of nowhere with no phone privileges, no computer privileges, and sharing a room with Aly who still wouldn't speak to her. Why did Brittany's Aunt have to live in such a boring place.
Brittany glanced over at Aly who was lying on her bed, doing her best to ignore Brittany. Brit couldn't take it anymore. She pulled the headphones out of her ears and looked over at Aly. "I'm sorry!" she yelled, "I really, really, really, REALLY did not mean to drop that match! I just wanted you to listen to me! I don't know what else to say because I really am sorry and this place totally sucks and I know why you hate me but I really can't stand this!!!"

This summer had started out as the summer from hell, thanks to Barney. Not only had Aly lost her clothes but she had spent an hour locked in a cell with sticky women who looked like men. Not to mention the handcuffs. They were probably not sterile. YUCK. Then she had to buy new clothes only to be shipped off to some god forsaken place for the summer. Her only saving grace at the time was meeting Chase, an old friend for New York. Other then that Aly spent her days attempting to forget that Barney existed and hating herself for using an innocent man.
Zac had been nothing but nice and she used him. She barely got out of bed in the morning, or spent her days reading some magazine for the hundredth time. She was bored out of her mind. No way to contact the outside world and no way to escape from the infestation. Well that's how she felt about Brit at the beginning of the summer. Now she was just tired and bored and hating life right now. Aly did accept responsibility for her part, but she was stubborn.
However when she heard Brits apology, Aly sat up in her bed and looked, "Did you just apologize?" She asked as if she had not heard what the woman said. Aly ran her fingers through her hair. Brit might be expecting some bitch like response, but they were both responsible for what happened. "I'm sorry too. I never should have used Zac. I just wanted to piss he who shall remain nameless off." Aly told her, "I'm sorry." She told Brit.
"I am also sorry for sucker punching you to the ground." Aly had thrown the first punch and tackled Brit to the floor. She had to be physically pulled off Brit by a cop. Both girls had to be on separate ends of the cell, but that was weeks ago. "Besides they were just clothes. Gave me a reason to by new ones." Aly said in her way of accepting Brit's pology. "All is forgiven. On my end..." she hoped Brit forgave her cause the fighting was seriously annoying at this point.

Brittany couldn't believe what she was hearing. Aly actually apologizing back? Was it possible that both girls were actually so incredibly bored that they could put their differences aside? Had that been their parents' plan all along because had they been home right now Brittany was sure that Aly would be off doing her own thing and Brittany would be off with Evan and chilling with Ian and Zac. But here, here sucked. Evan had written her a letter but the mail was just so slow and it was frustrating not being able to talk to him or to meet up and practice with the band.
Brittany smiled. "I know you were just hurt and I can kind of see why you wanted to piss him off...okay I can really see why because its not like I can stand Voldermort either," she said about Jasper, calling him Voldermort since Aly said he needed to remain nameless which was the same thing they said about Voldermort in Harry Potter. "You know...I think I was more upset that Zac anyway...you know how I am...super protective of my boys," she said with a shrug. "I'm sure if you apologized...he'd be fine."
She smiled again when Aly admitted that Brit had given her an excuse to buy new clothes which was something that Brittany had sort of suspected all alone. After all, no one liked to shop like Aly did. "Hey...you need some more?" Brittany asked. "I bet my Aunt would lend us the car if we said we were actually doing something together. I've kind of been wanting to do something with my hair anyway," Brittany admitted, running her hand though the very faded dye. "Maybe you could help me pick out a new color...then you could go on another shopping spree although I don't know if the mall here will do the one's in LA justice," she admitted.
It was harder for her. Aly had by chance run into someone she knew but Brittany didn't know anybody here. Well, no one except for Aly.

"I am not sure I can believe what you keep saying. First an apology and now an offer to go shopping. Who are you and what have you done with my step sister." Aly said teasing. "I could always go shopping, you will be surprised what you can find in a small town mall. In New York I knew of a few boutiques." Aly said. "Of course I hope this place has something like that."
Although anything right now was better then sitting around here, "let's go. Maybe grab some lunch." Aly running into Chase had been pure accident, but she was happy. For now. "I could use soem fresh air." No doubt if she was home she would be at the beach working on her tan, but this place was far from the beach. "As for the hair, what color have you not tried?" Aly asked. Perhaps this is what her dad and step mom wanted, who knows, but it was working.
Right now it was much easier to be friends versus at each others throats. Aly did not care to lose more clothes. Sure she had money to replace them, but still. Losing clothes was not particualrly fun at the moment. Besides Brit was not that bad. She did say sorry and Aly did hurt her friend so Aly needed to take responsibility for that too. Why not try and be friends. At least for the summer. Aly needed friends.

"You have highly estimated my level of boredom," Brittany said. "I highly doubt this town has any of the quality of boutiques that New York has," she said. She'd been here before. It was an old shitty town with nothing to do. "But the mall might at least have some chain-stores for you," she said wondering if she could even find non-natural colored hair dye here. "I don't know," she said about her hair color, "I'll just figure something out at the store once I see what they have," she shrugged, grabbing onto Aly's hand. "Let's please PLEASE get out of here now. If I stay in this house any longer I might go insane enough to want to borrow clothes or something," she teased, pulling her step-sister out of their shared room, down the hallway and down the stairs of the tiny house. It looked like this might be the start of a beautiful friendship Wrapped??
