He heard the car pull up, a sound he had been expecting the whole evening. A quick dash to the window revealed no ordinary car, however, but a limo. So that Jay guy really went all out. Not that Sandy didn't deserve it.
Levi Rubenstein stood in his room, staring down at the Meyers' residence, feeling more alone than he had in his whole life. The girl he had watched for so many years was about to leave the house for her first ever Prom, and all Levi could do was sit alone in his room and endure the pain of knowing that some other lucky guy would get to bask in her beauty the whole night.
An eternity seemed to pass before a crack of light split the darkness, and the red headed beauty exited her home, her arm entwined around a boy much taller and more handsome than the little Jewish fellow watching from above.
As the pair drove off to attend what Levi assumed was going to be the most romantic night of Sandy's life, he couldn't help but think back on how the school year had gone. He stumbled towards his bed and tossed himself down, not even caring that he was wrinkling Amazing Spider Man #321, the second part of the Assasination Nation storyline and one of his favorites.
It wasn't until late in the semester, but Levi managed to hold a conversation longer than a pair of "Hi's" with his love. There was even a short while where he thought she might actually like him back, but it seemed that must just have been her incredibly kind nature, as she inevitably started trying to date all the coolest guys, including the infamous Tyler Durnham. Still, hope had lingered in Levi that she would see the light, see that guys like that were big jerks, but once the rumors of her and Jay going to Prom together began to float about the school, Levi knew he didn't stand a chance. He resolved to seal himself in his room for the evening of Prom, and that's just what he had done. Nothing better than an entire evening of Spider Man, was there?
He wanted to believe that.
