Micah paid the cashier as he brought forth a stack of pizza boxes and laid them on the counter. It had been a long weekend of work. Yesterday had been a 12 hour day on their current job and then they had went over to the new job site to take a look this morning and set things up so they could get started immediately Monday morning.
There was a benefit to working with his uncle on the weekends. Money, something to keep himself out of the trouble he was bound to get into. Other days he just wanted the time to himself. Pizza was something quick and easy and he was starving so he grabbed the boxes and made his way back home with them to share with his uncle. After he was done with his pizza his uncle crashed almost immediately and Micah wasn't ready for that. It was only 6 and to him that meant the night was still young. It was after all the only part of the weekend he wasn't working, Sunday night. Taking his keys and shutting the TV off he left his uncle laying in the recliner and left him there eager to get away.
Finding his way downtown he found a spot to park and decided to walk around a bit. There was usually some street musicians, a few really good shops, and tons of people. There were several people today but not so crowded he would have to fight to make his way anywhere. Stopping in front of a homeless man playing a guitar he listened intently. That would be him if it weren't for his uncle, scruffy, dirty clothes, nothing to his name but a guitar he thought.

Brittany hadn't gone to prom. She just wasn't a dress up and go to a dance kind of girl. She'd gone to one of the formals earlier in the year and she'd pretty much ended up ditching out not long after she arrived. it just wasn't her thing. Instead, she'd spent most of the night at Evan's just watching movies and hanging out with their pet snakes, that Brittany was still pretty obsessed with.
She'd gotten home late last night though and slept in most of the afternoon. Brittany could sleep like a champ. It really was quite impressive sometimes. When she finally did wake up she found herself quite hungry and since no one was really home, she decided to venture out to find food. She wore her unnaturally orange hair down and was dressed in a pair of black jeans and a faded purple graphic T-shirt. She headed downtown and stopped in the first fast food joint she saw, scarfing down her burger before heading back out onto the streets.
she didn't really have any plans for the day so she figured she'd walk around for a bit, getting lost in the streets and watching the street performers. She always enjoyed doing that. She was walking around for awhile when she noticed the homeless guy playing the guitar. Brittany had been very poor at one point in her life but she'd never been that bad off. But the guy had a guitar and actually had talent. She sort of wandered over just as a guy stopped in front of him to watch too.
Brittany reached into her pocket and pulled out some crumpled up dollar bills and put them in the man's jar.

Micah listened as he watched a girl step forth and pull a few wadded bills from her pocket throwing them in. He wondered if the man did this for fun or if this was really the only living he had. Taking a few of his own dollars from his billfold and dropping them into the jar as well he turned to the girl to get a better look. Brilliantly orange hair, he wasn't no beautician but he wondered if it was natural. By the way she dressed she was probably somewhat of a rocker, a little eclectic, but again he wasn't a mind reader either.
" I can play, but nothing like this. " he said trying to make friendly conversation as he stepped back beside her again. He wasn't usually the first to talk but it wasn't something he refused to do either. After all, he was alone walking around downtown LA by himself. That wasn't something to be bragging about on a weekend.
" What do you think his story is? " he asked her non nonchalantly curious to see if she would think similar things to him. Maybe one time he was a great rock star on the rise, til he took his demise over drugs or something of the sort. Maybe he never got the chance, learned from an early age and life just got in the way.

"Oh really?" Brittany asked glancing over at the boy. "I play too," she said, although she didn't play too much anymore. When they first had started the band she played guitar along side Ian and sang but then they had her drop the guitar so she could run and jump around stage and put on a better show. She still played guitar with them if they did anything acoustical but for the most part she stuck just to the vocals unless she was writing something.
"Story...hmmm," Brittany mused, pushing some of her very bright hair behind her ear, letting some of the bleached yellow streaks show from underneath. "I do always sort of wonder that...like...how do you own a guitar if you don't have somewhere to live? But I guess you can still get them...a guitar is cheaper than a house. Maybe he had to sell all of his things for some reason but wouldn't give up the guitar," she said with a shrug. "I don't think I'd want to give up mine," she said, "but I guess I would if I had to...like it would be way harder to like give up my dog or my snakes," she said rambling a bit now.
She watched the man for a few more seconds before turning back to the boy. "What kind of music do you play?" she asked more wondering what kind of guitar he played if it was nothing like the homeless man's tunes. It didn't occur to her that he could be trying to say he was less skilled. Brittany had been playing now for almost 7 years so she considered herself to be pretty good.

He probably shouldn't have been but Micah found himself surprised when she said she played. She looked like she could probably rock out on the guitar but he hadn't really given it a second thought, but who thought about musical inclinations when they first saw a person. He wasn' t as surprised though about the snakes oddly enough. She did though, think like him, there was a story behind the man and probably a sad one.
" I play kinda a mix. Alternative, a bit of singer song writer, some rock. Nothing to over the edge though. " he said finally turning to actually acknowledge her standing beside him instead of casting glances. At least he wouldn't look like a creeper this way and they were talking so he was no longer a stranger once he introduced himself.
" I am Micah by the way. " he said making a quick turn to look behind them as he heard some kids skating by on boards almost to close but just far enough away to not touch them. He didn't mind them skating through town it was when they didn't care for anyone in there way, then again maybe he was just a tightwad jerk.

"Cool," Brittany said. She always liked hearing about other people that played music, especially when it was music she liked. She was really into both rock and alternative but sometimes she did like singer/songwriter mellow stuff too when she was in the right mood. The music she didn't like was more country and pop, which this guy hadn't mentioned so he was okay in her books! "I'm in a band," she said. "We're kind of an alternative type band...some people say its more pop punk but I think it only sounds poppy sometimes cause I do the vocals and its just harder for girls to sound all hardcore," she said with a shrug, not that she minded. She didn't like straight up pop music, pop punk didn't bother her and she liked what her band did so that's all she cared about really.
"Brittany," she said when he introduced himself. She tilted her head to the side slightly watching him as he watched the skateboarders. "You skateboard too?" she asked. Brittany almost never left the house with her skateboard, but she hadn't brought it with her today because she didn't like boarding downtown, mostly due to the lack of space to skate. The streets were more crowded downtown and it was usually too difficult. Had she chosen a less populated place to go to, she would have definitely been skateboarding there.

"Skateboard?" he retorted almost stupidly as if he hadn't heard her. Micah shook his head. " No. That is one thing I never took an interest in. " He didn't know why just had no inclination to learn, he had never been one of those boys even when he was younger. The kind who dabbled with a board and gave it up as they got older. Honestly though he wasn't really into much growing up, that probably had something to do with his mom and the whole lot of stuff that came with it.
" Do you go to school around here somewhere? " if he had seen her before he thought he would know. The hair would almost have to give it away but he still wasn't sure. It was the city though and there was more then just the high school he attended so even if she did go around the area it didn't necessarily mean that it would be the same one as him.

Brittany nodded. "I love skateboarding. It's my primary method of transportation. I don't really like driving. I would have my skateboard now cause I usually do but I don't like riding it when its really crowded," she explained, "ruins the fun of it all. It's super fun though," she told him, not really sure what else to say about it. He didn't seem to like the idea of skateboarding so much, or at least he hadn't looked that happy about the people who had skated by, but then again they had come awful close, so even Brittany had been a bit put off by that.
"Yeah I go to Gould High, or Gould Silver I think they are calling it now or will be calling it. I don't even know. They like merged us with another school," she explained. "What about you, where do you go to school?" she asked. He seemed about her age, maybe a little older but then again sometimes Brittany appeared to be young for her age, mostly because she was so off the wall. He probably was in high school though, or if he'd finished he couldn't be older than say 18, she decided.
The homeless man stopped playing for a moment only to start up another song. Brittany smiled. "I like this song," she commented.

Micah was a bit surprised she went to the same school as him but he really probably shouldn't be. With the merge there were so many new faces and all the people in the one small school building it was hard to move let alone pay attention to who was in your way as you went.
" Small world, I go there as well." he told her. It was good to meet new people within the school he supposed. Make it a bit more bearable of a place but he really didn't care to be there in the first place so it made the day hard.
As the man started playing and she made the comment about liking this song he stopped talking for a moment and listened. He had heard it before, classic of course, she obviously knew her music which was nice because it ruled a good part of his life.
" I do too. It isn't an easy song to play though. " he said watching the man's fingers move across the strings ever so smoothly. He had tried it before and it took him quite a while to get it. Hearing someone else play it though was even more impressive now that he had taken the time to learn it himself. " Anyways. Did you wanna walk? I can't stand here for long, I love music but I am getting kinda antsy ." he said letting out a small laugh. He wasn't like that all the time but sometimes after so long in one spot he got tired of the scenery and wanted to move around. There were other acts up the street, more stores and places to see then just what was right there. " If you had other plans that is fine as well, I can go on myself, it was after all the original plan. I just didn't wanna be rude."
