It seemed like her luck was running out lately and it was getting rather old. Breaking her phone, nearly running over Christophe, and then her almost fight at the Boardwalk yesterday. Christophe although unlucky to run over him had turned into a nice meeting and he introduced her to a cute little cafe she would have never known about otherwise , but the trip to the beach she had hoped would be good ended horribly. While she was eating her corndog some jerk on a skateboard came through and nearly knocked her off her feet then stopped to get in her face and yell at her like it had been her fault. After giving him a piece of her mind and kindly throwing what was left of her food in his face she had left not even interested in anything else anymore.
Today was Sunday though, the day after prom which was usually pretty dead in a town. Kids were at home sleeping in til noon because they had been out so late the night before and it spilled over to the late hours because they were too tired even after waking up to bother with anything else that day. Addison hoped for many of these reasons it would be a peaceful day for her. Not so much boring, just peaceful without any qualms or accidents, material or human.
Pancake day. That is what it was in her household as she finished off her second helping. It had been that way since she was little. Her mother had started it when her father deployed for the first time as something for them and she looked forward to it every week. Finishing off her glass of juice and dropping her plate into the dishwasher she thanked her mom and made her way back to her room to get dressed for the day. Pulling on a pair of jeans, a vneck shirt, and a shrug she ran her fingers through her hair a few times before figuring it was good enough for the day and shutting the lights off.
Sunday morning drive at the very least she figured. Town was dead as she had suspected which made it easy to find her way around through the different streets and by ways. She still hadn't found too many places and was looking forward to planning a day of pure exploration soon. She wanted to actually map out a few things to go so she had a plan, so far though she had failed to make it out. Pulling into the parking lot of the mall she decided she would go look around for a while. She went in through the food court doors after watching them be unlocked and stopped first by the Orange Julius for a smoothie, they were her favorite, she could live and die by these things. Ordering a strawberry banana extreme she took a seat at a table a few feet back to wait for it folding napkins into oragami.

"If you make a couple more folds, you can make a flamingo." Ivan said with a smile while admiring her handy work. "That's about the only thing I can make from paper, well and airplanes." He knew how to get in trouble at school without being big trouble.
He had been mall walking that day, even though most people thought it was for older folks. Ivan felt like it was a nice change of pace from the beach or the crowded streets. He was dressed in a muted orange muscle shirt, slightly baggy black shorts and low cut socks with his New Balance tennis shoes. He held in his hands a bag from Panera Bread, which contained two whole grain bagels, veggie cream cheese.
The man at the Orange Julius called out the order. "If that's your drink, I can sit and watch the table for you." He gave her his best smile.

Addison looked up with a small laugh and a smile as she heard someone standing over her mocking her work. Mocking in a fun way of course not a mean way, otherwise she would have just tossed it and walked away. His point though was intriguing and she took the bite pushing the crane to the edge of the table. " Okay then. Let's see it."
She hear the boy at the counter call out her smoothie and thought twice as she gave him a disapproving glare when he offered to watch her table for her. She hadn't originally planned on coming back to the same spot but as he smiled she changed her mind quickly, company wouldn't be such a bad idea after all. Walking to the counter she thanked the guy as she took her drink and opened a straw tossing the wrapper on her way back to the table.
" Thanks for watching my table. If anyone is ever looking for a sitter I will send them your way. " she mused taking her seat again and taking a drink from her cup. The mall was rather quiet and she liked it that way. You didn't have to talk over people or push your way through racks and stores. " So did you get my flamingo finished while I was gone?" she asked him curious to see if he could transform it. She thought she could see how he could possibly do it but still wasn't sure how it worked without starting all over.

Ohh a dare! Although minor but still it was going to be fun to try. Ivan sat across from her as the crane was slid to him. "Go on, I'll have this done by the time you get back." He started to make the right folds to change the folded sculpture.
"You were lucky, normally I charge for table sitting but since its Sunday its free." There was a mischievous glint in his eyes. "Oh yeah, it may not be perfect but you can sort of make it out." Sure enough there was the one leg tucked under the body and the head slightly curved. "Although its bears more of a resemblance to Quasimodo." he laughed. "I suppose I should introduce myself," he said. "Ivan Demarco."

" Oh really? Well I tell you what you can keep the disabled bird in place of my debt. " Addison said taking it from him for a second examining the few folds he had made seeing where it could possibly be seen as a flamingo but not quite making it the whole way. Setting it back down in front of him as he introduced himself. Ivan was an unusual name, not something she would have expected for sure. He looked like more of a Derrick or Cody to her for some reason. Something not quite as exotic.
" Addison. " she said with a smile stirring the straw around in her cup for a moment before look back up at him. " So what are you really doing at the mall on a Sunday? Most guys don't come to the mall for fun." At least not any she had known. She probably wouldn't be there if she had much else to do. It had been the lesser of evils and she had a few things to pick up anyways, she couldn't complain too much with the company she had at least for the moment.

"Your so generous." Ivan joked, tucking the paper bird aside. She was sweet enough not to mention cute as well. Not that he was really looking for a girlfriend or anything but if one came along he wouldn't mind.
"It's my cousins birthday in a few days so I'm out to get her a present. She's going to be four and a diehard Tinkerbell fan, which makes it easy on me to find something." There would be a quick stop at The Disney Store then the rest of the day was free. "Oh yeah I also have to get an alarm clock for my dog Sly. He freaks out in the dark."
He took out his phone and showed a picture of a black lab. "Thats Sly, he was a rescue dog and is still getting used to being around people."

Addison smiled. It was sweet that he was on the hunt for a present for his cousin. That would definitely explain the trip to the mall, There was the Disney Store and some of the other department stores that would have the better gifts, things that Walmart and other retail places wouldn't have. As for the alarm clock she wasn't sure she followed but she left it alone. Leaning over the table just enough to get a better picture of the dog she smiled.
" Awww. He's cute." most dogs that came from rescue's with problems like that had been in terrible home's before being taken away. She couldn't imagine the things people did to animals when they could just as easily get rid of them if they felt that way. The dog was a good size but in the face didn't look like more then a pup still. " How old is he? " she asked curiously.

"According to the vet, he's around 3 years old. Doesn't surprise me though, he acts like it." Ivan smiled. "If you sit on the couch, he's right there on your lap."
"He's gotten to trust me though. I say bedtime and he jumps up and lays at the foot of the bed. Although I have awakened at times to find him right next to me, with him facing me, nothing like dog breath in the morning."

Addison was surprised, he was older then she would have guessed by at least a year or two. She was even more surprised she couldn't see it in his face. Animals like humans when they have been through a lot in their life time showed it in their faces, wrinkles, sadness, any of the likes. This one didn't really have a lot of stress ware if that is what you wanted to call it. Or maybe since being in a good home it had begun to disappear a bit more.
" That is great though. " she said enthusiastically. " He has a home where he knows now he can be comfortable and is starting to show that. " she took the last drink of her Julias looking around for the nearest trash can and finding it to the right of their table just a few feet away. She randomized her thoughts considering whether to dump it and let him do his thing or see if maybe he liked her company at the moment as much as she was enjoying his.
" So. I know you said you have a few things to pick up, " she let the sentence run off a bit before continuing. " Would you want to get up and go walk? Move this party along. " she smiled. She wasn't sure if he wanted to just get his things and get out or if he had time to waste. " We could pick up a few of our things along the way if you wanted and then be on our way."
